I'm not saying he should spend the world, or buy things for her recklessly, but a guy whose lady stood by him when drinking garri(I'm giving an example) was the status quo, now he's got money, living well and building a house(and we know to build house in naija no be beans), he can't spend for his chick?. C'mon, that's stinginess. I bet you, if he loves and care about this lady so much, she won't complain before he buys things for her. The buying shouldn't be a one way thing though, the lady should reciprocate once in a while according to her pocket's size. When a lady receives only and thinks she's giving back through sex/in kind, most times, the guy demeans her and pride sets in. That's what some ladies still haven't figured out. Blackteeth: Our so-called girlfriends are using sex as a justification to make outrageous demands. Just a 3 minute sex with a girlfriend can be a justification to request for a N1,000,000 change of wardrobe. Their reason will always be like: "After all I GIVE him sex". Emphasis on the word "give" cos I don't understand how girls are doing guys a favor by GIVING him sex when girls enjoy the sex too. After the enjoyment they had they still want to be given something on top of it abi? Even when sex is not involved, just washing a guy's singlet is enough justification for a girl to demand for an expensive smartphone. Giving is a two way thingy. Relationship is about two people not one. Once one party is the one doing most of the giving, he or she feels some kinda pride and might end up demeaning the other partner. In your scenario, I don't think you're wrong in rejecting his money. Maybe you are just fed up with his stinginess. You aint his wife but judging on how successful he is, he should care more, not only really through giving you Money but some certain gifts and you should buy him gifts from time to time. It goes both ways. Have a heart-to-heart talk with him. Let him know about your grouse with him and sort things out. 5 Likes |

@OP, true story. A wonderful and insightful write-up. I concur with almost all your pints JVLI: 2. Consider character, not even beauty. Men have mistaken beautiful women for character. Its not the beauty you live later with, its the character. Ask yourself, if you hate snoring and incidentally, the one you date snores, will you divorce after marriage? What attracts you to the one you seem to love now? Do you know that what attracts you now, may be a bone of contention tomorrow? Only women of virtue and faithful men make a happy home. Beauty fades with time, not even size. The above quote is what some ladies still haven't decipher about men. The truth is many men during dating or flirting stage will sample and date a lot of beautiful chicks even if their character sucks. As long as they get the daily or weekly bóotycall, they're alright. But when time to settle down reaches, a wise man goes for character(inner beauty), because beauty attracts a man, but won't keep a man. Character/inner beauty keeps a relationship(marriage or not), going strong. So in the long run, the pretty chicks with no good character gets thrown out.
