I was set to clinch the ticket through the progressives before Obasanjo was released from prison into PDP to run. Obasanjo’s entry swayed the whole interest because of June 12 and the need to address the unrest in the nation as it was in the Southwest then. A lot of us, including Ekwueme knew this. The general thing was to give the Southwest a chance that even Ogbonnaya Onu, another Igbo man that won the primaries of the APP had to step aside for Olu Falae of AD to run on APP platform as the joint candidate of the two parties to make it possible for candidates from Southwest zone only to run for president. With that June 12 sentiment and the need for the military to diffuse the tension, we all knew what the outcome would be.

SO MY PEOPLE.. IS IT SAFE TO SAFE THE PRESIDENCY WAS MICRO ZONED TO THE SOUTH WEST??
Yea. But when you tell folks from South West, they argue. I knew this and I’m tired to say this.

Politics / Nasir El Rufai: The Cowards Of The South. by ODI444(m): 8:38am On Aug 22, 2020
I will very brief because I’m very annoyed with Southern elites.
I read the letter Femi Falana wrote concerning the withdrawal of invitation to Governor Nasir El Rufai by the Nigeria Bar Association, and I feel pained.
The NBA has its outgoing President Paul Usoro from the South. The newly elected President is Olu Akpata, from South. These two in their wisdom, thought El Rufai has what it takes to grace their convention; not only as a guest but also keynote speaker.
Fine and well, petitions were received and equally acted upon, resulting in his withdrawal.
The man has written and accepted the decision, though a bitter pill.
My anger is: I have read two articles this morning from Southern elites telling Nasir El Rufai that the NBA action will be a pointer to the level of opposition he will meet should he throw his hat into the ring of 2023 president.
Hello! Am I missing something? I’m a very toxic critique of El Rufai, but I must say; he remains the only loud voice in the north who wants power to move to South.
Why are people drawing him towards what he has said repeatedly that he doesn’t want.
I think it is cowardice.
What has Femi Falana contributed in the discourse of power shifting to South? This is akin to a dog barking at thieves when they have stolen and left.
Southern elites are cowards. No wonder Buhari is toying with the region on key issues.
Now Atiku Abubaka is jumping up and Down, but no Southern elite will muster the courage to tell him to stop.
Now if say, NUC withdraws the certificate of his University, a Chief Okoro or an Otunba Ola will start dancing naked.
What a show of shame!

Politics / Re: Throwback :Peter Obi Claims Parents Own Company He Invested $30 Million by ODI444(m): 10:16am On Aug 14, 2020
RuudVanNisteroy:
Peter Obi Questioned On Why He Invested $30m State Funds In Company Where His Family Owns Shares.

He claimed that the company belonged to his parents, and he had no dealings in it after he became a public officer.

Peter Obi, vice-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has explained why he invested $30million of Anambra State funds in a company owned by his family.

He stated this in response to a question by Kadaria Ahmed, host of ‘The Candidates’, a presidential town hall co-production between Daria Media and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), with support from the MacArthur Foundation, held in Abuja on Wednesday.

He claimed that the company belonged to his parents, and he had no dealings in it after he became a public officer.

His words: “I brought International Breweries into Nigeria and as a Governor of a state, they built a greenfield facility in the state and they came to me and said ‘as our partner, we want you to own 15 per cent of this company’, and I said to them ‘No, right now, I am the Governor of a state. I know the future of this brewery, and I want the state to own 10 per cent and since I’m no longer involved in the company, they can own five per cent’. I put in $30million of state money there, it’s now worth $100million and it’s still there. No other state in this country has such investment.

“Personally, I have no investment; not even one Naira. Go to Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) today, if you will see Peter Obi as owner of one share; it doesn’t exist. Next is a family company started by my own parents and as their child, I ran it at a time, and when I became Governor, I had nothing to do with it till today.

“I also invested $50million of Anambra State money in the power sector. I invested several billions in banks, including banks where I have shares. I was investing for the future of the state; it doesn’t matter whether I have shares or not. If I have the opportunity of building the future of the state, wouldn’t I have done that?

“I left office in this country, leaving Anambra State with investment in cash of N75billion. The day I left office, we had $56million, N12billion in Fidelity Bank.; in Diamond Bank, $50million, N12billion; in Access Bank, $50million, N12billion for Anambra State. Show me in the history of this country where anybody has left 10 per cent of that.”

I don’t rate this forum. Reason is there are few critical thinkers and the stupid majority tend to have their way. How can the OP come up this this terrible submission after the article and the mod didn’t pull this down or penalize him?
Where in the article did he invest $30m in parent business?

Politics / Dangerous Politics In South West. by ODI444(m): 11:22am On Aug 11, 2020
There are six states in South West. Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo states. APC controls 5 of the six states while PDP has one.
I have observed that the rest of APC treat Ekiti and Oyo same manner. I mean, Ekiti state and Oyo state are loathed with equal proportion and vile. I understand that of Oyo state because the governor is of PDP but as for Ekiti state, I cannot figure it.
Fayemi Kayode is not an angel, but he is running a purposeful government when you compare side by side the resources at his disposal.
States like Ondo, a Niger Delta state that enjoys 13% derivatives, NDDC presence and Federal allocation is not showing any sign of progress. Ogun which enjoys close proximity with Lagos has its roads and infrastructure so messed up that you cannot differentiate it from war torn states. Lagos that could stand on their own, economically, is a shadow of itself. Osun state is on the verge of being acquired by debtors and Payment of full salaries is almost an impossible voyage. Yet in all these four states, you will hardly hear supporters of APC South West insult the government and the people.
But, even with the little effort JFK is putting, his kinsmen who are in the same party with him think he is a failure. They would turn blind eyes.
Don’t give a dog a bad name in order to hang it.
Don’t throw away the baby and the bath water.
Stop this dangerous politics and unite the Omoluabis.
When an eye is crying, it affects the nose.
A stitch in time save nine.
My tongue is tied, that’s why I write.

Politics / Re: Why Igbos Won’t Have Exclusive Right To Presidency In 2023 – Junaid Mohammed by ODI444(m): 3:58pm On Aug 06, 2020
bolaayenimo:
Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Junaid Mohammed, elder statesman and Second Republic lawmaker, has faulted the claim by another elder Statesman and South-South leader, Chief Edwin Clark, that other Nigerians should drop their presidential ambition and allow the Igbos exclusive right to the Presidency in 2023.

Clark in a statement last weekend had said it was uncalled for and hypocritical for Northern politicians to argue that there was no rotation of power between North and South, as President Muhammdu Buhari presently serving his second term if office, rode to power in 2015 based on the arrangement.

He also asked Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to forgo his rumoured presidential ambition, saying, it was the turn of the South-East zone to produce the next president in 2023.

However, speaking in an interview with Daily Independent, Junaid who described the principle of zoning as a tragedy for Nigeria, said it is unfair for an elder like Chief Clark to be advocating that other Nigerians should be barred from aspiring for the highest office in the land in a democracy.

“Clark should tell us how he came about that. Who told him that and where did he learn his own politics? On what basis is the 2023 presidency their turn? If he says it is their turn, when will Ijaws have their turn? They forget that the Igbos were there when Goodluck Jonathan was handpicked by Obasanjo and made the president.

Is E.K Clark a special prophet of God to know that it is their turn? By the way, if he is saying nobody should contest the election except the Igbos, how come when the election was contested by other people in the past, he did not make any comment? Some of these politicians in this country are such a disgraceful lot. They have no respect for truth and they seem to forget history.

“This is not NDDC we are discussing here, we are talking of presidency from 1999 till date. If you say nobody should contest except the Igbos, when people come out to contest, let him go and tell INEC not to register them or he should go and unleash the terrorists in the Niger Delta to go and shoot everybody who dare to contest or go and join IPOB to start threatening people”.

He also said it will be difficult for other political parties to support Igbos in 2023 as they themselves did not support others in previous elections.

When the Igbos are expecting to have unchallenged race among themselves, how come in previous elections, they did not vote for other parties? They didn’t vote for PDP and they never voted for APC . And now they expect that somebody will now come and vote for them . if you want peoples support, you should also support them.

“But if you don’t support people and you think you can blackmail them into supporting you, let’s see how they will fare. Afterall, EK Clark, Ohanaeze and others are now threatening to sue Buhari , let them go to court and see what happens. Let’s see who will deny those who don’t want Igbo presidency the right to vote.”

https://www.independent.ng/why-igbos-wont-have-exclusive-right-to-presidency-in-2023-junaid-mohammed/

Thank God this is coming earlier enough and we know who to speak to. It’s gaining momentum and shortly, it will get to national stage and becomes a national discourse.
An Igbo man from South East will be president in 2023, save this date.

Politics / Re: Petition Details Alleged Corrupt Activities Of Tinubu Since 1999 by ODI444(m): 7:50am On Aug 04, 2020
Hillard:
A petition submitted few days ago to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detailed alleged corrupt activities of former Lagos State governors – Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Banatunde Raji Fashola.

THE WHISTLER obtained the 11-page document dated July 23, which was received by the EFCC on July 27, 2020.

The petition, which was written by a pro-democracy group, Coalition Against Corruption and Impunity, was addressed to the new acting chairman of the EFCC.

The group also copied the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, and the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, in the petition signed by its coordinator and secretary, John Olufemi and Mohammed Sanni.

The group levelled allegations of “syndicated fraud and sharp practices, corruption, huge land scams running into billions, criminal diversion of funds, betrayal of trust and oath of office, economic strangulation laden with corruption, financial recklessness, mismanagement, embezzlement, misapplication of funds gross constitutional violations and abuse of office” against Tinubu and Fashola.

The petitioners revealed properties which belonged to the Lagos State Government allegedly diverted by Tinubu, among other weighty allegations.

According to the group, Tinubu and Fashola own the Golf Course and Housing Estate located at Lakowe near Ibaju Lekki Government. It claimed that the estate was developed by Asset and Resource Management Limited at N75 billion on 1,000 hectares of land.

The group claimed that, “14-hectare Parkview Ikoyi Estate foreshore land reclaimed by Lagos State Government currently belongs to Tinubu,” adding that the annex of Lagos State Guest House in Asokoro Abuja, purchased by the Lagos State Government in 2006 for N450 million, had been transferred to Tinubu.

The petitioners claimed that Tinubu allegedly allocated Strabag Yard land, near Lagos State Secretariat at Alausa, to himself and developed a huge shopping mall on it.

The group alleged that the former Lagos State Governor’s Guest House located at No. 41 Oyinkan Abayomi, was transferred to Tinubu shortly after Fashola assumed office in 2007.

“Tinubu took over the prime land of 157 hectares with 2.5km of Atlantic beach front at N10 billion from the communities of Siriwon, Igbekodo, Apakin etc in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and given to his crony, Ibukun Fakeye, to erect a gulf house and luxury villa with little or nor compensation to the villagers. Furthermore, he paid $20 million (N3 billion) out of public treasury to Ibukun Fakeye for commencement of the project in late 2006 coupled with release of additional funding for the project by Fashola and not owned by Lagos State government.”

According to the group, Tinubu also owns Fara Park estate and Beach Wood estate in Lekki, Lagos State, adding that Tinubu’s wife, Oluremi, had allegedly converted into personal use the, “massive New Era Foundation Youth Camp at Eleko Junction, off Lekki-Epe Express Road, Lagos State, which was built with state funds.”

The petition provided account names and numbers in eight foreign banks allegedly operated by Tinubu while he was the governor of Lagos. The accounts were allegedly domiciled in: First Heritage Bank, Country Club Hill, Illinois, USA, City Bank NA, New York, USA, City Bank International, New York, and five accounts in HSBC, 177, Great Portland Street, London WIWGOJ.

It added, “Presently Tinubu owns the critical care unit in Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in Ikeja which was built and equipped with state funds. The outfit is managed by his cousin, Dr. Sikiru Tinubu as a orivate unit and the proceeds belonging to Tinubu. The outfits major revenue is derived from referral of patients by General Hospitals in Lagos State which is hardly affordable by ordinary Lagosians because of its exorbitant charges.

“He chased away Lagos State Polytechnic located at Ikoyi near old toll gate and allocated all the choice plots to himself, his cronies and political associates. Because of his greed, he deprived the youths of Lagos State Education to some extent and presently Television Continental (TVC) headquarters owned by him is located on the location.

“Tinubu’s tax company (ALPHABET) is paid N3 Billion monthly as consultancy fee from Lagos State coffers from the almost N30 billion Internationally Generated Revenue (IGR) through his company-Alpha Beta Limited”

The group alleged that the corrupt acts of Tinubu and Fashola had deprived Lagos tax payers billions.
