PoliticsRe: Naira Is More Valuable Than Dollar And Pound. Ignorance Is Killing Us. Wake Up! by odinga1of: 10:18am On Sep 24, 2020
Biodun556:
THE VALUE OF THE NAIRA.
~Eruobodo.

A currency's value is what is can fetch those who use it as a means of exchange!

Those in America use dollars and those in the UK use pounds sterling. Emiratis use Dirhams and Indians Rupees. Nigerians therefore use the Naira.

The Naira today, is equivalent to 600 units to the GB£ and 500 units to the US$.

Though we are quick to lampoon the Naira as worthless, but let us compare how much value each of these currencies equivalents fetch their owners/holders, within their borders?

In the US, a dollar ($) may not buy you more than a small bottle of water, while N500 will buy you a pack of 12 of the same bottles of water in Nigeria!

A pound (GB£) may not buy you even a small loaf of bread in London, but in Lagos, N600 will buy you and your partner, breakfast for 2, consisting of one N250 big loaf of bread, 4 fried eggs and 2 bottles of water!

Days ago, I bought 50 pieces of medium sized oranges from the Ketu fruit market for N1,000, that's just $2! I bought 3 pineapples for N500 ($1)!

A litre of fuel costs N160 in Lagos, but cost $0.86 (N430) in New York! While I know people who pay cad1,700 (N500,000) per month for their glorified room and parlour self-contained in Ottawa, that is what a friend pays in 6 months, for a 2 bedroom apartment, with separate toilet, bathroom and proper kitchen, in Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi!

So why do Nigerians make so much noise over the value of their currency, when it still fetches them more value than the other currencies that they pitch the Naira against? The answer is simple: the "values" of Nigerians!

While Nigerians reacted with consternation at Dino Melaye's obnoxious display of his stolen wealth, the average Nigerian behaves exactly like Dino Melaye! From the man on the streets to the Churchpreneurs who claim to represent God!

They produce nothing, but want to flaunt everything!

Someone lamented to me about his wife's tenant, who has failed to pay N120,000 rent, for nearly a year, but slaughtered a ram and made festivities, worth N150,000, during the last Moslem "Ileya" festival!
Ask me what the man produces? Zilch!

Had this same debtor taken the N150,000, wasted on the one day feasting to the market, it will be more than enough to set up a fried Yam, sweet potatoes, Akara business, that can net him N300,000 monthly, and take him out of poverty and debt forever!

So, because Nigerians are unproductive at home, but consume from used clothes, to fake hair and eye lashes, to even PMS, from the abroad, they keep whining about the value of the dollar/pound-sterling against their currency.

There are universities in Nigeria, and I had my education entirely in Nigeria! So, if I chose to send my children abroad, what is the headache of the government in my personal decision, should the currency in their country of choice proves unaffordable to me? Who send me?

My personal definition of the problem with Nigeria is that, the policies of the State are manipulated to suit the indulgences of certain classes of Nigerians, who feed fat on the miseries of the masses.

Government resorted to importing fuel because some privileged Nigerians criminally destroyed our refining capacities. Rather than punish them, we put the punishment on Nigerians.

Government "subsidized" the same imported fuel, to create artificial opportunities for some privileged people to loot our treasury, under the artificially created system of "subsidies".

These Nigerians and their fraudulent economists should stop fooling themselves about the poor exchange rates of the nation's currency. 95% of the citizens of this country need food, water, Medicare, etc, obtainable in Naira!

If some useless, lecherous and unproductive, yet entitled, vanity flaunting elements like Dino Melaye, need foreign currencies to feed their insanity, what has that got to do with Nigeria?

If you want to indulge in the zero nutrition Orange, imported from wherever and sold at times ten that of super tasting Oranges from Benue, must Nigeria care about your price plight? Who send you?

If you chose Pizza over Aboki freshly cooked spicy bread and eggs, please find enough Naira to indulge in your borrowed Italian taste. #KokanAye!

This argument over our poor currency is a lie of the elite to pass their problems as everyone's!

Days ago, I made a 4 litre bowl of cooked beans (enough to feed at least 8 adults) from a N200 ($0:40) measure of beans! Add another N500 ($1) worth of sweet potatoes, and you have a super nutritious meal for 8 adults!

That's less than $3 in total, N1,500 (including the costs of other stuff like onions, peppers and oil), to feed 8 adults?

Before you complain that the Naira is weak, tell me what you need the foreign currencies for, and #Eruobodo will show you how you and Dino Melaye are related!
The OP is very clueless. The question is 1dollar and 1naira

What can the both buy in their respective countrieshuh

Otedola will get the silent majority who never vote to come out and vote out Tinubu and his festering gang.

This silent majority are tired of the excessive taxation, corruption under Lagos APC and the arrogant and overbearing Tinubu.

Corporate Nigeria and their executives will back Otedola as he will reduce taxation and definitely open Lagos to the world.

You can bet the likes of Adenuga and Dangote throwing their weight behind Otedola.

Otedola will get rid of the omoniles and Iya and Baba Olojas and also sanitize the Lagos civil service by riding it of touts in suits in place of experienced and seasoned technocrats.

Otedola will be to Lagos what Bloomberg did to New York and see to the gentrification and modernazition of Lagos.

Let us start the #Otedola is Lagos meme.

Earlier it has been concluded by king makers in APC that no second term for the incubent Governor. So had Ize Iyamu stay put in PDP he would have been facing a candidate with lesser weight because Obaseki would have still port to other party but not to PDP as it is now.

PoliticsRe: Whistleblower, George Uboh Accuses Obaseki Of 'Monumental Fraud' by odinga1of: 2:19pm On Sep 15, 2020
ojikeebere12:
The chairman of George Uboh Whistleblowers Network [GUWN], Dr. George Uboh has accused the governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki of monumental fraud.

Dr. Uboh made the allegation while addressing a press conference in Abuja on Monday, September 14, 2020, at his office in Abuja.

The self-styled foremost whistleblower, during the press conference, stated that he discovered monumental fraudulent transactions of Edo government from the state’s bank statement sent to GUWN by an anonymous whistleblower.

Chairman of George Uboh Whistleblowers Network [GUWN], Dr. George Uboh
The allegation is coming barely five days before the state’s governorship election on September 19.

A transcript of the press conference referred to the Executive Governor of Edo State, reads:

Dear Sir,

48-hour ultimatum to respond to allegations of financial infractions under your watch as Edo State governor

George Uboh Whistleblowers Network (GUWN) is in receipt of bank statements from 2015 to 2019 on to Edo State Government. We are not unmindful of the fact that there is election around the corner-in a few days-in Edo State. As a Civil Society Organization, we are non-partisan. However, for sake of public interest, we analyze any information sent to us from whistleblowers, some anonymous as in the present case. After analyzing the information, we disseminate to the public whose interest we serve.

Nigerians were glued to the TV on August 26, 2015 when our organization took on the EFCC at the Senate based on three boxes of evidence whistleblowers within and outside the EFCC gave us. That Senate hearing in 2015 opened the eyes of Nigerians to the monumental looting at the EFCC which I demonstrated with overwhelming and irrefutable evidence. After I pierced through that thick veil covering the EFCC in 2015, in 2016, Farida Waziri asked Nuhu Ribadu to account to Nigerians the Billions he recovered without documentation; same 2016, former finance minister Adeosun wrote Magu apprising him that she is not in receipt of the recoveries he quoted in the media; in 2018, President Buhari asked the EFCC to account for the last Kobo recovered, but EFCC came out four days stating that the part of their office where recovery documents are kept caught on fire. Of course, there is currently an investigative panel on the EFCC. These are all vindications on our part regarding the EFCC

Thereafter, we have handled numerous cases dealing with corruption within the Executive, Legislative and Judiciary. Recently, we received information on the Vice-President, His Excellency, Professor Yomi Osinbajo from whistleblowers which seemed as if the VP interfered with a criminal investigation. We wrote the VP on August 10, 2020 attaching the evidence in our possession, and gave him 7 days to respond to Nigerians (whose interest he is representing) as to why we should not declare him unfit to be the VP. Same day, the VP responded attaching evidence to show he did not interfere, asking us to let Nigerians know the outcome of our investigations. after analyzing the VP’s response, we exonerated him and issued a statement and video in that regard.

In the instant case, we posit that if the VP, the Number two citizen in Nigeria who is cloaked with immunity can humble himself to respond to us same day we wrote him, we hereby issue His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki, a 48-hour ultimatum to respond to our allegations. It should be noted that although we found suspicious transactions in multiple years, however, the suspicious transactions became rampant and egregious in 2019, hence our conclusion that His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki allegedly siphoned funds in preparation for the election.

Findings:

*We found numerous transfers made into 8-digit account numbers running into Billions of Naira;
We found numerous transfers in Billions of Naira from Edo State Government to General-Purpose accounts in different banks, including but not limited to Equatorial Trust Bank (which is not in operation), Access Bank, Sterling Bank etc. Posers: what does general-purpose stand for? Are these funds dissipating from these general-purpose accounts in these banks? The red flag is clear and convincing.

*We found Billions of Naira in transfers to Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) without being specific on the particular MDAs. Transfers should not be in bulk figures in Billions of Naira without specifying the MDAs and their respective account numbers.

*We found that Billions of Naira passed through Edo State Government to companies like A&K Construction without specifying the accounts of the companies. in other words, Edo State Government released money to itself, mentioned companies like A&K Construction without mentioning the recipients’ accounts. Without those details, we can conclude that the monies have no destinations.

*We found that Billions of Naira were transferred in numerous tranches without account numbers and account names of the purported recipients.

*We found Billions of Naira debited as Value Added Tax (VAT). This contravenes common sense. VAT should be a credit not debit. Why would you move Billions out and give the narration as VAT? VAT collections are credits not debits.

Billions of Naira released as salary from EDSG without specificity. August 2019 alone, N746,622,765:33 and N693,388,159:31 were moved under the narration salary from EDSG. This is very suspicious, particularly the proximity of the transactions and others above to the election.

Based on the foregoing allegations, we hereby issue you a 48-hr ultimatum to react to the following. Attached please find the requisite bank records. We remain,

Yours in whistleblowing services,

Dr. George Uboh
Chairman, GUWN

Following the press conference, Dr. Uboh gave a 48-hour ultimatum to Governor Obaseki to respond to the allegations or face legal action.

PoliticsRe: Tough Policies: IMF, World Bank Take Over Nigeria’s Economy - TribuneOnline by odinga1of: 7:13pm On Sep 06, 2020
kikero:
Most if not all African economies fall victim to the IMF because their sources of income have problems.....

First, most African countries rely on selling raw materials and commodities to the global market

Second we use the income from the sales to import goods and services, including some that we can produce on our own at a value that is higher than our income

Third , we don't control the price of the raw materials we sell. Prices of crude oil are determined in London and New York

Fourth, we spend billions on subsides and other socialist welfarist projects which end up costing more than we estimated because of our growing population and low tax base

Fifth, we tolerate corruption, both at the low and also by the big men and women. And most of the money stolen comes from loans taken

All these puts us into deficit and into the hands of the IMF and the world Bank.

Nigeria is a classic example.

We could be free.from the IMF, but because it involves fighting corruption seriously.and cutting subsides seriously, and becoming an industrial economy which means an initial period of hardship, we refuse to take those routes.
Why is prices of crude oil determine in London and NY?
