PoliticsRe: It’s A Lie: Igboland Is Not Landlocked By Aloy Ejimakor by Odingo1: 12:15pm On May 17, 2020
helinues:
How will you cross to the River Niger without passing through Nigeria territory ( SS)?
River Niger is an international waterways, Nigeria have no right to stop Biafran ship from crossing into the ocean using river Niger.

Austria in Europe have one of the biggest river port, do they have access to ocean no, but the use river Danube which is an international waterways to have access to ocean.

No country have right to block an international waterways because it passes through your country. Country can only have security checks and nothing more. The ships pry the waterways with international flags.
PoliticsRe: It’s A Lie: Igboland Is Not Landlocked By Aloy Ejimakor by Odingo1: 12:05pm On May 17, 2020
The problem with some Yorubas is that they refuse to learn. I wonder how they believed that the SE is landlocked.

SE is only landlocked to the ocean but have river channel close to ocean. River Niger is an international waterways in which every emerging country will have access to. Before Nigeria-Biafra war, Onitsha river port is fully functional.

Maybe they believe that singing that SE is landlocked will scare Igbos from having Biafra. They want to die in one Nigeria.

I wonder which tribe in Niger delta that will remain in Nigeria with yorubas and Hausa-Fulani. People that don’t have ambition in life only sitting down lazily and waiting for money from Abuja.

Now you're talking..

The igbos won't criticize Azikiwe for his roles to undermine true federalism. Instead they would call Awolowo names like tribal bigot, etc. for refusing to surrender his region and people to Igbo slavery under Nnamdi Azikiwe.

You know why I am optimistic? we have what it takes to survive which is EDUCATION courtesy of Pa Obafemi Awolowo. When the time is right, the brighest of stars will shine
Yoruba can die for one Nigeria and have no alternative. It is only Igbo man that have the courage to survive without Nigeria.

You are not far from the truth. Nnamdi Azikiwe's romance with the Ahmadu Bello's NPC to undermine regional self determination and JTU Ironsi's infamous unification decree 34 laid the foundation of the mess we are in today
Ironsi did not abolish regional government but Gowon did that and created 12 states. Azikiwe is politician that played politics according to his own time 80 years ago. What prevented 11 years of yoruba presidency from reversing all those things and make Nigeria a better place or Northern rule of more than 40 years. Stop blaming event of 70 years ago as your own problem.

We'll keep reminding them that they are the cause of Nigeria's woes today whether they like it or not. I wonder why History was removed from our school curriculum.
How is Igbo man the cause of current Nigeria woes, can you state some.

1. North have rule Nigeria for more than 40 years
2. Yoruba 11 years
3. Igbo less than 2 years.

Lol. You should know that, as it stands now, western Nigeria is way prosperous without the oil.
SW are not more prosperous, don't be deceived by Lagos. Lagos is what is it today because it is the former capital of Nigeria. The white developed it and handed it over to Nigeria as its capital. Lagos and Abuja was developed by Nigerians.

How is Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Ekiti faring with other parts of Nigeria, is not the same thing apart from Abuja and Lagos.

We had it once you know.. until the Nzeogwu coup and emergence of Aguiyi Ironsi as Head of State.

What makes you think another "ironsi" won't rise tomorrow to abolish the true federalism?

This is the reason why I said that Yoruba don't want anything in Nigeria
. If you talk about how to make Nigeria a better place they will start telling you that one Nzeogwu 60 years ago did a coup and Ironsi abolish this that, in next 1 million years they will keep on telling you the same thing. They don't have the braveness to transform their current situation. Imagine Germans saying that it was Hitler that divided their country and bring war, till today they would have remain a backward country today.
PoliticsRe: The South West And Nigeria: A Call For Opinions by Odingo1: 7:37pm On May 16, 2020
Yoruba don't want anything in Nigeria, they are just satisfied with Igbo marginalization and hoping that power will keep on rotating between yoruba and north but in 2023 they will kiss the dust in Nigeria politics and they will never recover in the long run. No future, no ambition, nothing just hope to be receiving monthly allocation from Abuja from Niger delta oil and thats all.

Go to Akoko Edo towns and see how people speaking Yoruba fluently.
Itsekiri can have conversation successfully with Yoruba from ondo state.
All these people and more bear Yoruba names. Will you now call them Yorubas.

Many Northerners speaks Hausa language bears Hausa names but they're not Hausa.

Ikwere are not Igbo
You are a Yoruba man and you talking on behalf of Ikwerre people by saying we Ikwerres. Who is telling lies here.

A Yoruba man forcing Ikwerres to renounce their Igbo heritage.

Why are you lying Sir.

My from Ondo, I understand Itshekiri / igala perfectly..

Where did Bini colonized Yorubas?
You did not know that Oduduwa which is the banished son of Oba of Benin conquered Yorubaland and rule over it till he died and his body was taking to Bini for Burial. Bini rule over lagos and call it Eko until British captured Eko from Bini people and renamed it lagos. Sand filled most part of it and built it.

You understand Itshekiri/igala because you grow up in that environment, tell the truth, if you are from Osogbo or oyo, you cannot hear a single word in Itshekiri/Igala.

They don't speak Igbo before...

Are itsekiris Yoruba? No, they bear Yoruba names with dialect similar to Yorubas

Are Edo Yorubas? Some of them bear Yoruba names with Yoruba culture

Are Egun Yorubas? No, ..they look Yoruba and bear Yoruba names

Are Ijaws Yorubas? No, in Ondo and Lagos they bear Yoruba names.

Amongst others

You don't have any point...Ikweres should claim they are Igbo if they want, not Igbo claiming them because of access to the sea.
Know you that Egun, Itsekiri and Ilaje language is entirely different from Yoruba language. Somebody that speak Egun or Itsekiri cannot have a conversation with a yoruba man because they cannot hear each other but Ikwerre and Igbo person from south eastern Nigeria will discuss with each other fluently.

Also point of correction, the names that you refer to as yoruba names are actually Bini names because Bini people colonized yoruba land for long time and transfered some Bini names to Yoruba like Oba(king), Eko(Lagos), Ola etc.

Lagos remains no man land, lagos was captured from Binis by the British and British sand filled the lagos we know today built it and transfer it to Nigeria as its capital, Nigeria develop lagos with Niger Delta oil money from where the white people stopped.

Even Awolowo recognized that and said that if the SW become independent that the status of lagos will determined by different countries that emerge out of Nigeria.

Referendum will solve this matter, Rivers State is part of Biafra until they decide to pull out through voting.

Ikwerre, Oyibos, Etches, Ndokis, Elemes and Ekpeyes are Igbo people in Rivers state while in Delta State, Anioma, Ika and Igbanke in Edo State are also Igbo people. The can deny their Igbo heritage due to Nigeria politics but they know that they are Igbos because they bear Igbo names, speak Igbo and practice Igbo culture.

TravelRe: Being Black In Berlin/germany by Odingo1: 11:37pm On May 06, 2020
Danielhouston:
A lot of people seem to expect so much from a country that is not theirs. Yes, Germany is not molded for black people and foreigners in general to prosper. We’ve said that endlessly. Germany is not Hollywood either where dreams come true. Not even for German citizens.

The Germans are living comfortably, working, renting a flat, paying bills, going on vacations, getting married and growing old. They’re not striving to be Bill Gates or Oprah. Foreigners also get that comfortability, except that it comes at a higher price and with a cross to carry. If you want to achieve more, find somewhere that can give you more.

Let’s leave racism and history now. Germany offers asylum to people, gives them money from the job center for rent, transportation, food, pays their health insurance and money for pleasure. They also get to enroll in a language school free of charge, which the German government pays for to help them integrate. They can also take up training or education at the government’s expense, get a job, after 6 years they can apply for a German passport.

Germany offers free education to foreigners without taking their money, even the blocked account money is for you. You can get a German degree which is world class, for free and migrate to another country to work. They won’t stop you. Yet you’re cursing them.

Talk about menial jobs, somebody has to do it. It’s the same in USA with Mexicans and other foreigners doing the jobs Americans won’t do. People from EU countries also do menial jobs in Germany. So it’s not only black people. Sure, there is racism attached to it but it’s also a sacrifice in a country that is not ours.

I have done 4 surgeries which was covered by health insurance, if I was in Nigeria I would have posted my picture on Facebook for Nigerians to donate money so I won’t die. There are also foreigners here getting regular treatment like people living with HIV, those with cancer and other diseases. Which they would suffer to get in Nigeria.

During Coronavirus crisis, Germany offered money to everyone who lost their job or business, through the job center. They gave €5000 to artists, both Germans and immigrants, gave out free food and provided housing to those in need. Meanwhile, Nigerian finance house is burning down and Nigerians were on lockdown without food for 2 weeks.

Germany is safer than Nigeria. I was arrested last year when I visited Nigeria because police said I looked like a yahoo boy. They almost killed me for nothing. In Germany, I can wear whatever I want and do whatever hair I want, nobody will care. In case of emergency, police is a phone call away, so is ambulance.

If you get a German residence permit, whether as a student or refugee, you can travel around other Schengen countries as you like, without visa. You can get a 2 year US visa in 3 days without stress, they send it to your house. 6 month UK visa in one or two weeks. Students also enjoy free transportation and other benefits.

Racism is everywhere. It is worse in the US, blacks in the UK also suffer from it. See what they did to us in China, they are selling us in Arab countries, they also hate us in Latin America. You are black and no matter where you go, you will NEVER be seen as equal. Stop acting like Germany is the most racist country on earth and they’re holding your breakthrough.

What Germany lacks is representation. Unlike USA and UK, Germany never had a strong black community. The Turkish people are to Germany what blacks are to USA. That’s why there are Turkish police officers, doctors, other jobs but almost no blacks. There is no representation of black people in Germany. Plus, we are not many over here compared to UK or USA.

Before a company offers a job, they have to offer it to a German, then an EU citizen, then an immigrant. Is it fair? No. But it’s their country. Maybe if Nigeria did the same, we won’t have many Nigerians being gatemen and security guards for white people in Lagos.

So please, stop whining. You can complain about racism and discrimination, I support that, but don’t come here demonizing Germany like it is hell fire. If you hated it so much, why don’t you leave?

Stop discouraging people who want to come here and change their lives, from coming. We need more black people here. That’s how we create representation. Since more black Americans have been coming here, things have been changing because important topics are now being discussed to promote inclusion.

Bye.
All this thing you write now is the why people are coming to Europe and me also.

You are the one asking the importance of investing back home like building houses and we are reminding you the reason why and the reality on ground why people take their money home.

If Germany is not doing all this things you mention who will spend money or die in the sea trying to enter Europe to Germany. Who is dying to enter Iraq or Afghanistan.

Excellent and refreshing thread here.

In my opinion, I think most people in the diaspora have a misconception on what the definition of ''home'' is. My ''home'' isn't where I was born and raised (Nigeria), but rather, it is where I can live a good life, raise a family and have peace of mind with the knowledge that every penny of tax I pay is being used for what I pay it for. Nigeria is where I was born and raised, the UK is my adopted ''home'' and where I would be buried.

A ''home'' shouldn't necessarily be the country of your birth, it should be the place where you and your family are currently comfortable and living a good life. We live in a global village. I'm Nigerian by birth, British by passport, Kenyan by marriage.

On a side note, this thread shouldn't be moved to front page. It will get invaded by dodgy characters from politics section etc. grin
I strongly disagree with you on this, a home is where you are born which is connected to the tribe in which you are born into.(Your father’s root). If you travel abroad and make money, it is your duty to bring the money home to develop your root. A foreign land no matter how peaceful or beautiful it may be cannot replace ones fathers homeland. Why is it that the tribe you went to their country cannot leave their place and come and learn your own language and live in your own original country and abandon his own.

We only live once, make the best out of it and stop the hate..
You are misunderstanding it.

First I went to Germany to better my life since Nigeria is not working but that is not an excuse for me to dump my root and continue my generation in Germany, that is what I refer to as an abomination.

When one die there is something like Nigeria passport because God will ask you of that. Why did God return the children of Israel to the promise land.No matter what there is no place like home. Anytime I enter Nigeria I feel entitled and I hate no one.
TravelRe: Being Black In Berlin/germany by Odingo1:

Nigerians in Germany and abroad in general, I have a question.

Do you feel settled in Germany or where you live? I see Nigerians here who live in a room in shared apartment but they’re building houses and buying cars in Nigeria and sending all their money to Nigeria. They probably would not live in the house they’re building in Nigeria and they don’t intend to return to Nigeria to live. So what’s the purpose?

I’ve always believed in enjoying my money cos life is short and I make myself at home anywhere I live. I don’t see why I’ll be working hard in Germany but live like a pauper and all my money will be going to Nigeria, I’ll be buying cars in Nigeria that I won’t drive. Or a house that I’ll only stay in when I visit once in a year.

I want to hear your thoughts on this.
I have lived in Germany now for 6 years now, came for masters, finished and stayed, Germany is not home and not where a migrant should call a home. As a black man in Germany there is a chain they place on the leg already that even the children they born here in Germany cannot be able to achieve an enviable height due to the fact that the child will be pulled down before he or she reach a university level except if the child is extra ordinarily brilliant.

Then I have built a duplex in my village and trying another one for renting. I live in a shared apartment to achieve all this. Germany or Abroad is not anyone home. Even if you have resident permit or citizenship in Germany or any Europe, one day you will be remainded that you are a foreigner just as they did to Ozil the footballer.Ozil have return back his citizenship and went back to turkey with his family. The reason why Nigerians and other Africans is holding tight in Germany despite been subjugated as nonentities is because Nigeria is a shithole country of no hope. So a Nigeria Lady will prefer to waste all her life in Germany as single mom collecting monthly stipend than to go home while the men counterpart will be rooming about looking for white lady to pregnant.

No matter how you try, as a black man you are not accepted in Germany. I am yet to see a black police man or woman in Germany.

So investing back home is good if you want to return home in the future while your children remain in Germany and be visiting home ones in a while. It is not good for a person to migrate and forget his root back home. To me as an Igbo man it is a taboo and sacrilege for one to dumb his root and continue his generation in a foreign land. Which mean after the father and mother die the children will continue to live in that country like black Americans in America. That is an abomination of highest order.

Germany as a country is rich, lot of energy sapping shitty jobs for foreigners, well organized but a hostile place to foreigners. The other EU migrants is even more hostile and racist than Germans. 90% of foreign student leave Germany in the long lawn after their studies and never stay back while in UK the reverse is the case.
