PoliticsRe: I Bought Fuel This Evening For N105 In Port Harcourt by oduastates: 10:44pm On Dec 15, 2014
Subsidy indeed

Petroleum Products Yielded from One Barrel of Crude Oil

Product Percent of Total
Finished Motor Gasoline 51.4%
Distillate Fuel Oil 15.3%
Jet Fuel 12.3%
Still Gas 5.4%
Marketable Coke 5.0%
Residual Fuel Oil 3.3%
Liquefied Refinery Gas 2.8%
Asphalt and Road Oil 1.7%
Other Refined Products 1.5%
Lubricants 0.9%

The nnpc gets over 300,000 barrels to refine daily.what do they do with the other products after refining?
Those other products, when sold are enough to pay the Subsidy, if any, on petrol.
PoliticsRe: The Rot In Gej's Government by oduastates: 7:42pm On Dec 15, 2014
The whole idea of SURE-P itself, is intrinsically corrupt.
You can create temporary programs to attack neglected and temporary problems but it is myopic, corrupt, incompetent and inadequate to create such to do what is essentially the job of the government in the first instance.
Why do you have ministries and ministers?

PoliticsRe: Obasanjo Praises Gani Fawehinmi, Rubbishes Soyinka, Chukwumerije In New Book by oduastates:
The conservative in obasanjo
Soyinka is a unashamedly progressive . From the environment, health ,education to civil liberties ,sexual and reproductive rights, the liberal and progressives extol a live and let's live values.
He has been consistent with his criticism of the blight emanating from the federal government .
He has never gone local or state.
The abuse of power, actions and inaction of the federal government is responsible for Nigeria's situation.
If the federal government ever gets fixed, nigeria becomes fixed. E.g the federal government would not hand over education trust funds to a state who uses the money to buy cattles and car. she would tolerate the stealing and waste of derivation money either.
Sorry none of soyinka's so called friends have ever governed Nigeria.
And I do not think one will ever do so until the country collapses.

Back when Lagos was lagos. When only those with business in town were in town. A trip to Kingsway was next to heaven. You get all the original ajebutter stuff which were only available to us when pops and moms travelled to England or when my coz came on holidays from America .
Who can forget LTV with that heavily loaded lagos weekend television. Fashioned around London weekend television, LWT was loaded with movies, cartoons, wildlife documentaries, variety shows etc and even today, makes most of the other terrestrial television look like a joke.

The Americans are definitely not stupid. Who would want to hand lethal gear to a clannish government of militants and terrorists.
Maybe they thought the Americans were sleeping when they were sending militants for pilot training.

I wonder why many yorubas are always saying Jonathan government marginalised them. Can someone please educate me on which areas Jonathan government had marginalised the yorubas.

As far as I can see the government has not really unfairly favoured any region. The pdp tried to give the speaker position to the yorubas, but the yorubas on their own gave it out.

One really wonders about what is happening? Will the yoruba man really vote us back into bondage to the born to rule Fulanis ?
You can keep your speakership and your oil, we prefer total self determination.

PoliticsYobe Capital Damaturu Under Boko Haram Siege by oduastates(op): 9:13am On Dec 01, 2014
Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, is under heavy attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists who, according to fleeing residents, may have surrounded the town.
Explosions and gunshots are being heard in some parts of the Yobe State capital.
A resident of the city, Yaya Haruna, told PREMIUM TIMES the shooting started at about 6a.m.
“It is as if they have surrounded us all here; there is sound of explosion and serious shooting. We are all lying down on the floor with our families. Please pray for our safety, that we survive this… ”
“We are in serious confusion now, we are just hearing gunshots and explosions on the southern part of the city and people are fleeing,” said another embattled resident, Malam Abdulmalik.
The resident said he was woken by loud sounds of gunshots and explosions which started at about 6a.m.
An official of the SSS in Maiduguri, who usually does not want to be named in the media, confirmed in a text message sent to our reporter that “Damaturu may be under attack now”.
Damaturu is 135 kilometres west of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

UPDATES
08.14
An Air Force jet has arrived Damaturu, and is engaging the Boko Haram fighters.
"We are hearing the sound of the jet fighter hovering the skies amid heavy sounds of explosions. We don't know what to do. We are still lying on the ground inside our room," said Yaya Haruna, a civil servant and resident of the city.
08.18
The military personnel on ground in Damaturu are said to be careful in their response to the sudden attack.
They said they want to try as much as possible to avoid the shooting of civilians in their exchange of gunfire with the terrorists.
08.42
Residents say shootings have subsided and that everywhere is now quiet in Damaturu.
"We no longer hear the gunshots and blast anymore but the whole town is quiet except for the movement of vehicles that sound like military trucks", said Yaya Haruna.
08.46
A police officer, who does not want to be named told PREMIUM TIMES the gunmen invaded the town coming through Gujba town.
"They came through Gujba town and their first attack was the Police Mobile Force Base along Gujba road. We don't know the details on casualty, but I fear it could be bad."
08.50
"We are still under fire," the Yobe State Police Commissioner, Marcus Danladi, told PREMIUM TIMES when contacted. "Kindly sympathise with us. There is nothing I can tell you now."
08.53
As Police Commissioner Danladi spoke with a PREMIUM TIMES reporter on telephone, loud sounds of gunshot could be heard in the background.
"I'm sure you can hear the sound," he said. "That tells you we are still under fire."
PoliticsRe: The PDP Tragedy Vs APC Threat: A Dilemma For The Yoruba Nation by Remi Oyeyemi by oduastates:
By my disposition,I should ordinarily be happy with the pro self determination slant of this article.so,I took time to read his previous articles in order to get a measure of this fella. While he occasionally writes some pro-odua stuffs, this guy also writes many pro-PDP articles disguised as anti - tinubu articles.
I may agree with some point but on the whole, the article completely misses the road.
After 6 yrs of complete marginalisation and economic mismanagement (which the SW was not involved), only a mad man would vote Jonathan.
After being handed all the advantages of good credit balance,a healthy fiscal structure and sound economic policies, all Jonathan had to do was build, build, build.
Instead we got steal,Steal steal.
The whole essence of the man is as feudal as the fulani political machinery and, it is no wonder that even in his home state, crime and blood flows in the swamp like the boko haram infested desert.
If he cannot fix his home state, how can he fix a country?
The fact is that he and his allies are currently in the throes of a power trip like those of the kaduna mafia of the past.
He started campaigning immediately he was inaugurated in 2011 with his 6 years tenure attempt. He has been campaigning ever since.
He is not thinking about resource control, true federalism, regionalism, regimental army etc. Why should he when he cannot only vacuum up his people's money in bayelsa,he can also vacuum the resources of others to dispense is favours to his corrupt minions.
Why should I swap the stabilising power structure of tinubu in APC for a crooked party full of descendants of NPN.
If Nigeria is going to break up today, I would rather have a tinubu /Fashola coordinating rather than necklace wearing thugs/ killers like fayose, obanikoro, akala and omisore's.
Tinubu can and will be cut to size when the people want and I am sure he will happily give way for a better party. He could easily have joined the "all is well" PDP in robbing the country blind. All is not well. Nigeria needs restructuring and the SW is happy to be pushed out of the federation.
We are fed up with this race to the bottom. Those who covet other people's property can go and fight over the oil.

Jonathan is not an expired product which was once good, Jonathan is simply a bad product period.

These guys don't get it,do they?
We have experienced good governance before.
We know what it felt like.
From not knowing what a padlock means to having to lock yourself in your own house like a prison.
Hunger and destitution all over the place.
The land is getting packed out day by day and stretching social services to breaking point ( the latest being, refugees from the NE who are escaping from malgovernance by the FG and their state government ).
Even the rule of the Kings just prior to the arrival of the British, feels like heaven when you read about it.
These last 60 years has got to be the worst in the history of all odua kingdoms.
Keep your speakership.
Good governance or get the hell out of our polity.
By the way when I said get out, I meant absolute yoruba rule in yorubaland.
PoliticsRe: Which Is The Most Corrupt Institution In Nigeria ? by oduastates: 9:05pm On Nov 28, 2014
Based on how much leaks out of or is stolen from the public purse.

1 Presidency : the throne of corruption
2 NNPC : needs to explanation
3 Customs :aid and abet smuggling
4 Finance ministry ( corrupt waivers ,incapable of managing an economy or even supervising a sensible budget proposal)
5 Legislature ( useless)
6 navy : escort stolen crude.
7 Army ( same as navy. Corrupt commanders)
8 Police ( N20 )

9 Special mention. It's be given to those socially useless churches and mosques

Is this woman insinuating that the state government is now more powerful than the federal government? It is really appalling that out of gross incompetence, blatant carelessness and lack of foresight, she couldn't envisage the impeding crisis we are now suffering, even with the plethora of tell signs that should have made us better prepared for this crisis. she totally failed in her capacity as the finance minister and is now shamelessly trying to transfer the blame to the state gorvernors, instead of charting out a course through which we can mitigate the effects of the plummeting oil price and work in synergy with the governors to raise IGR and by effect lessen the burden on the ECA.

This woman has been a flop and a massive fiasco in this her second term under GEJ. I am totally bewidered that even with her pedigree she has successfully failed so massively.
What pedigree?
She was busy squandering money and granting waivers to their corrupt minions, removing import duty on crap and simply gallivanting around the place.
This woman almost destroyed the vegetable oil industry.
She never ran anything remotely close to a kiosk before being forced on Nigeria to do a sabotage job.

Using China and India as examples on poverty.
Rubbish.
China and India are lifting tens of million out of poverty while dumbo and Iweala are sending millions into poverty. The theft/removal of Subsidy ( which never existed)and subsequent increase in fuel prices automatically sent millions into poverty overnight.
