Because the elites have full brain matter. E.g Malaysia makes close to $15 billion from oil palm exports every year ( the same oil palm they borrowed from you in the 1960s). This is more than double what you will get from oil this year. |

He is obviously buying Nigerian. |
If true , it is a step in the right direction. NYSC has outlived its usefulness |
Vulu:Because they are moving to more enlightened shores where they can achieve their dreams and rub minds with brightest . Their talents ;more appreciated . Why would you want to remain in a country full of cheats, fake righteousness ,religious zealots, criminals ,opportunitic activists and lawless politicians. If anything I would like all Yorubas to get a taste of lawful societies so that they can hate the contraption as much as I do . I would rather be chilling with a bunch of pot smokers in a San Francisco book club than listen to Nigerians ranting about a country shaped in their own image |
About 5 years ago, I was seen by 5 different Nigerian doctors(all Yorubas) in the same America hospital and within a period of 2 months. Most of them were recent arrivals of less than 2 years and below 40 years of age. When I accidentally mentioned this to a friend who is resident in the United Kingdom, he said that the uk density of Nigerian doctors is even higher . Same hospital in a foreign land!!!!!! All my banker friends apart from one left Nigeria just after the subsidy fraud . Everyone agreed that the country would crash with the way Jonathan was managing the country . Countries of choice USA ,Canada and United Kingdom. They are all laughing now. Pathetic . |
Today is the Yoruba new year. Why they are not celebrating a gift of civilisation I cannot understand. The calendar is accurate to a less than a day. This is a level of astronomy that is beyond almost every living Yorubaman today apart from a few. To the Chinese , the Chinese New Year is the biggest celebration. |
They are barely scratching the surface |
These guys are practicing a barbaric religious law in what is supposed to be a secular country . The day sharia was adopted in the north was the day the north west and North east became an independent country.( I wonder how long we will keep up with this illusion of a country) . They have with their own hands destroy their hospitality industry and others . Any hope of tourism is long gone . Perhaps some of those layabouts and almajiri would have been busy working in the hospitality businesses rather than chopping off a citizen's head. As we speak , more than an average of 25% of the country's income is being spent/looted on Boko haram challenges . That one is a self inflicted wound as well. If that kind of money was actually spent on the Niger Delta , maybe , just maybe there will be less unrest . |
Me I only do the Yoruba nation and her survival within the contraption called Nigeria. Hopefully I will be doing same outside the contraption before the end of my time on earth. There is nothing wrong in fayose condemning the loss of lives regardless of how the losses came about . Whether fayose's comment is political opportunism or not , holding the government to a higher moral standard is something that must be done. Instead of shooting live bullets, they could as well have used water cannons, rubber bullets , pepper spray etc. Ever since the creation of Nigeria , hardly 2 years passes without these sort of mass shootings happening in the SW . Whether fuel subsidy, protest against election rigging , looting or stolen election mandate. Ask yourself this question . Why are they trying to hold the country together by force or should say , who is afraid of discussing Nigeria? Most of the problems afflicting the country can be solved by changing a few things . Now taking your letter from the point of view . Unlike most people , I monitor IPOB radio (radio Biafra) regularly . I can authoritatively say that the station has been preaching hate , half truth , misinformation and lies since forever. But what changed after Buhari's election is the ferocity of the hate and misinformation coming from the radio. The hate which used to exist on the margins simply went mainstream.( No doubt that corrupt elements of the last administration have infused IPOB with cash. Kalu admitted a $1 million on radio ) . Less than 1 month after admitting , IPOB all of a sudden had cash to deploy transmitters all over . I see Kalu as an accidental "successionist" . He open a 419 franchise after graduating from MASSOB for the purpose of making money by playing on the emotions of his people . However , that franchise took on a life of its own . |
Ruke1989:Explain this. Looks better than the Lagos of today

Jonathan made Babagida look like an hero |
I hate pettiness more than anything. Lai thoughts goes beyond those of the likes Omokri . The NE used to be a source of beans ,cowpea, sorghum , tomatoes ,pepper , onion, fish etc. The entire supply chain has been disrupted by the terrorists. It is right to say that the affected region would have been alternative source for tomatoes supply if Boko haram crisis had not degenerated. |
Hand missionary schools back to the owners. Many of these NUT folks are used to the indiscipline of state schools . They spend more time attending to private business than teaching. They place their own children in private school while not educating the children of the poor. Job for life without doing the actual work is the mission . The government should move quickly ,do the needful and use the money saved on improving the quality of non-mission schools . Out parents went to missionary schools and the quality of education they got is comparable to those of any private schools anywhere in the world today. Those schools bred men The government can legislate that a quarter of admission into the mission/private schools must be local students (tuition free) |
This guy is a total failure. An unmitigated disaster who belongs in the same category as those Niger-delta governors. A sensible person would have lured the youths to the farms by reinvigorating the Cocoa industry . With all the money in the ondo state , what does it take to get experts to help reclaim the world's largest cocoa producer title from Ivory Coast? Instead he was busy building eye-candy non revenue generating projects left ,right and centre |
Answer: Psychopaths have no feelings. |
krazykoons:Successful but $2500 on a dress? You are definitely taking it too far. The only money you spend like this is unearned income. We know they are corrupt , the only reason they are still being tolerated for now is because the alternatives are worse and the country's political landscape is ugly, dangerous and unstable . |

I cannot see any difference between school cert holders and degree/HND holders. They All exhibit the same level of civic illiteracy. bar none , they are suffer from their forefathers' colo mentality. They are western educated but blind asf . I would rather have a school cert holder who is aware and conscious. "Consciousness" will not make any sense to most because they are not aware. |
Nope . Money Made from making use of our ports . Capital gains /stamp duty from the Yoruba VAT and Corporate taxes. In 20 years time , when we finish building the 4th mainland bridge, you can come ,have a look at it , and tell your children that it was built with oil money. |
This is not funny. The guy's rant is a window into the soul of a typical Nigerian voter. A dangerous citizen armed with a vote but without the civic to understand his role in forging a big society. If I heard heard him right, he said that looters should be left with their loot. That is, the concept of crime and punishment should not be applied. He also said that his sales are down as if it is not related to what came before Buhari. It is this kind of thinking that makes some parts of Nigeria to recycle one bad leader after the other. |
This is one of the criminals released by Jonathan to spite the SW. |
Awo On The Cultivation of The Human Mind "Whether we are conscious of or acknowledge it or not, the fact remains stubborn and indestructible that poverty, disease, social unrest, and instability, and all kinds of international conflicts, have their origins in the minds of men ... It is only when the minds of men have been properly and rigorously cultivated and garnished, that they can be safely entrusted with public affairs with a certainty and assuredness that they will make the best of their unique opportunity and assignment." - Inaugural Address as Chancellor of the University of Ife (1967) Voice of Wisdom, 1981 You cannot compared the boardroom groomed, ivy league educated rulers of dubai to your local geriatrics ( rulers). Different mentality. Everything is the mentality. Just today the richest man in China opened the Chinese equivalent of Disney world in China. He made a speech. Nigerian leaders should go and study that speech. |
The federal government should provide services and not run businesses. |
Nigeria oil fund fears hit bond issue By William Wallis and David Oakley Revenues from oil sales go to the National Petroleum Corporation Mounting concern about a huge outflow of money from Nigeria’s “rainy day” oil fund has prompted some big investors to shun the country’s debut international bond issue on Friday. Nigerian officials said an investor roadshow to market the $500m bond issue had generated considerable appetite among international investors However, several major funds have told the Financial Times they are not interested in the deal because of Nigeria’s deteriorating fiscal situation and worries about how President Goodluck Jonathan’s government has run the excess crude account, designed to store up windfall oil revenues. The account was set up under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who stood down following 2007 elections. At that time there was $20bn in the fund. But as recently as last September there was less than $400m, according to public disclosures, which showed billions flowing out of the account last year. To deflect questions about the constitutionality of the fund, the federal government struck a deal in 2007 to divide oil windfalls between national, state and local governments. Since then, more than $30bn of revenues – calculated on the difference between the budgeted and market price of oil – has flowed out of the account, according to donor and government officials. The funds went partly in regular payments to state governors over which there was little subsequent oversight, and partly in federal spending on infrastructure. “The fact they have run down the excess crude account is very worrying,“ said Antoon de Kler at Investec based in Cape Town, adding that “it is unclear where the money is going”. “Why does a country that relies for 90 per cent of its income on oil, which has seen a big rise in price, need to run down its foreign exchange reserves? For these reasons we are not buying the bond.” Other big international investment funds, which invest in Africa, also told the FT they would not participate in the sale. Some Nigerian politicians and officials have questioned why foreign reserves have not risen, and the excess crude account did not grow during the past year of rising oil prices. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/05e178da-24d3-11e0-a919-00144feab49a.html |
In his first 365 day, the excess crude account was pilfered/looted/ wasted /stolen from $22 billion to $300 million. You can choose the word that best describes what they did with the ECA. |
The police is not trained to provide first aid. Banana Republic. |
It is like saying that the Black bike week which ended yesterday on Myrtle beach is an unproductive activity. Owambe is an economic activity. It is very much part of the leisure, tourism and hospitality business. Food and drinks are bought, caterers are employed, event venues leased, tailors employed, hotel rooms booked etc Out of these associated activities comes jobs, jobs, jobs That the state government's gave been unable to get value (tax) out of it does not mean it is not there. Had it been that all the VAT on drinks( hard and soft) were going to the states and not the FG. |
A civil service does not exist to create employment.A civil service exist to service the tax payers( civil..........service) If the tax payers cannot afford the size of her civil service, it simply mean that there has to be cuts . At times, it means civil service jobs would have to go. |
That alleviation is the key work and thus us why the government must think outside the box The cheapest policy is to change the people's behaviour/habit . |
Just reading the usual rubbish from Aribisala dropped My IQ by 50%. Coming Just after reading a fantastic article by Chris Hedges about the American society , this is the usual diet of rubbish that Nigerians feast on. Nothing more than an early morning brain fart. It ain't philosophical. It is not backed up by data or stats. Absolutely no historical perspective or comparison. It is true because the so called expert( a quack party apparachnik posing as an independent journalist) says so. I have no doubt that some of the dansuki corrupt money would eventually be traced to you know whom. |
