psucc:Recovery means they do not have to budget for , or pay for those items anymore. E.g Instead of borrowing 100 billion , they would only have to borrow N50 billion |
Privatise to whom? Elites who cannot run a biscuit factory!!!!!!!!! |
Nice concept. I have suggested in the past that Lagos should try and adopt the United kingdom's high street , open air market system. 1 Look for strategically located streets and roads. 2 Turn them to 4 days a week market where traders pay to display their goods from 7 a.m to 5 pm 3 By 5 pm , they must remove their wares and stands for street sweepers to clean . 4 the streets go back to being roads. This is a good way to generate revenues and reduce the size of markets. It is also a way for people who have stuffs at home that they do not need anymore to dispose of them directly. ( (flea market) It also allows for temporary traders .e.g A banker who bought a few tubers of yam during a wedding trip to Jos , to dispose of them. I hope to see something similar in ikorodu, Ketu, ojota, agege and ikeja in the future . |
Keneking:In Fela's voice ,Thief thief . Remove Nigerians from all money handling and financial decision making positions . Go after foreign talents . CASE SOLVED |
Ogun state, kogi and cross river should demand derivation from limestone. When you include the 20% coming from Obajana in kogi, close to 50% of the N30 billion is coming from yorubaland. |
Fayose did what he had to do.The manner does not matter . I do not do APC Vs PDP.People like omojuwa are educated one-Nigeria political hacks along the corridors of power. He is only a slight upgrade over the paid PDP erats. The moment their convenience is threatened , they become activists. I remember Omojuwa moaning when Buhari stopped all those dollar debit cards last year. What fayose and those whose communities have been decimated by these herdsmen can do is to file a petition against the MACBAN to be formally designated a terrorist organisation in the UN. The funny thing is that Their nomadic grazing lifestyle is even inimical to the environment. They overgraze the land ,the hoofs of the cattle destroy little shoots and the herdsmen chop down trees thereby increasing the rate of desertification. Grazing area is like fuel importation. The approach of an unthinking people still stuck in the medieval ages. But like a bunch of fatalist , they are refusing to change . Instead of ranching backed up my abattoirs , meat packing factories , dairies , milk /cheese processing factories etc , the terrorist MACBAN want to destroying established communities in the name of nomadic cattle rearing. I remember travelling to taraba in the 80's and seeing all those cattle jostling with people on the street. Even as young as I was, I thought it was backward. Give a yard and they will take an arm. Unlike what most think, these Fulani terrorists are cowards showing by the way they consistently hit at night and against soft targets. The purpose is to multiply the effect of their terrorism . Put 500 AK47 wielding people anywhere and in any country and life as you know it will be shutdown. The so called avengers are probably no more than 50 but the force multiplying effects of their vandalism has shutdown close to half of the oil industry |
adconline:What are they subsidising? Mansions in Beverley Hills and St Tropez Private jets in Abuja. Million pound shopping trips in Harrods. Nigeria stopped subsidising the masses in 2010( the day Jonathan got onto power. Heavy taxation is part and parcel of socialist democracies like Sweden, Norway and Finland. Those are the countries that Nigeria should aspire to become. Not a neo liberal oligarchic state like America where over 60 million children go to bed hungry. |
On current gear, the Uganda army will utterly destroy the Nigerian army on the battlefield. 100 T-90 compared to the 26 ancient T-72 in the Nigerian armoury. 15 SU-30 will destroy our 5 ancient mig-21. Infact only 1 SU -30 is capable of engaging all 5 mig-21 at the same time. |
dunkem21:How did buhari Bleep up? The man has been basically fire-fighting since he got in power. Their criticism is based on ideological ground. Neo Liberal capitalism which controls societies worldwide. They are doing their thing in Brazil as we speak and going as far as organising what is essentially a coup. Probably only 5 of those billionaires in Nigeria are involved in any activity that is socially useful. The country can do without all those oil barons.in fact almost all of them are simply collecting rents ( rent seekers) Give me your prescription to solve the problem. Foreign airlines alone are waiting to remove 500 millions dollars from the Nigerian economy since you do not build anything ( good or services) of any significance. I am wondering how much all the Syrians, Lebaneses,Egyptians etc to whom road and other contracts are awarded, are waiting to remove. Allowing the naira to float would have sent the economy into an instant death spiral and push ten of millions into poverty overnight . We all saw what happened Last week with the rumour of devaluation alone. The answers are simple as it is common sense. The Nigerian music industry. 1 Live within your means ( government and people). 2 increase inflows and reduce outflows. 3 Protect your market. 4 Build, make and invent all you can yourself. Learn from the mistakes to improve your product. Steal or borrow technology if you have to. Case study The modern Nigerian music industry started by copying. Then it evolved into conquering the local markets and Africa. It is now conquering( not dominating) the global market. The likes of Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye ( patriots) chose to use their platform to monopolise the air waves and forced Nigerians to listen to made in Nigeria music. Nowadays, those plantashun Boyz and Tony tequila music will be regarded as trash. Anyone who tells you that you can import your way, or build hotels your way to prosperity is only. deceiving you. The greatest achievement of China's great leap forward was changing the mentality of their people. |
The destiny of the Nigerian economy was already in crisis the day Obasanjo handed the keys over to Yar adua and Jonathan. Put a trend line on a chart and you will see the long term downward trajectory. Even when the Naira was exchanging for N114 to the dollars, it was an illusion of wealth and the forex that should have been accumulating was being stolen or frittered away on luxuries and bad governance. The mindless stealing started when yaradua was still lying in coma on his death bed.Turai and her gang were busy looting the budget. But Jonathan put it on nitro. Most states were incapable of paying for Jonathan's increase in minimum wage when oil was selling for N120 / barrel, how do you expect them to cope when oil has averaged $35 /barrel in the last year. The devil has come to collect his debt. That goldman sach guy deceived them with BRICS.abi Na Nigeria Rising .Na MINT Una suffering Don dey MINTed Nigeria Rising wey no fit construct him substandard roads. The smart money shorted Nigeria and divested their positions(money) as early as January 2012 at the height of their delusion and high oil prices driven drunken madness. Do not worry. The IMF is coming to lend you money. Only that their real mission is to bail out the western investors whose capital were trapped by Buhari's forex restrictions. |
The patience will snap one day. All those pressure points from the north and the south will make the people completely lose it one day. when will the patience run out? I do not know but something would have to give one day. This week so why the 2013 international conference call by the silent yoruba intelligentsia was very important. The main outcome was the suggestion to allow the people to support any candidate or party they want to support as a form of check and balance.Their judgement is right. As much as I dislike this guy, just like when aregbesola refused to support Jonathan election, someone has to make the call. Hopefully, the lagos/ ogun yoruba elites will wake up and smell the coffee. Yorubaland does not start in Victoria Island and end in Ikorodu. No one is looking out for the Savannah yoruba. The country has lost her mind and like ambassador John Campbell keep saying, Nigeria is on the brink.

bettercreature:Are they going about burning down villages and mosque? |
The herdsmen already carry the tag of a terrorist group. If there is anything 99% of yorubas can agree on, it is to be against anything that affects law, order and the operation of a modern lawful state. If the people turned on the activities of OPC, when they morphed from a group against military dictatorship and repression to a group which turned itself into a lawless police force, Your guess is as good as mine when talking about their opinion of these herdsmen. Afenifere renewal group has put out their own statement to go with the earlier statement from the PDP afenifere. The message is clear. Yorubaland will not put up with backwardness and medieval mentality. |
Another Jonathan story. Me I don tire for Naija. It is like putting a tomato seller in charge of Microsoft corporation. This Jonathan should be consigned to the dustbin of history |
Just common sense. If the state refuses to protect your lives and properties, you have to do it yourself. |
First sensible thing to come from this man. The whole cattle thingie is only a tiny fraction of overall agriculture GDP . Why sacrifice this for cattle rearing? The price of 10 cows alone is more than the price of the entire stock of birds ( cockerels, hens ,layers ,broilers ducks) in most southern farmers' poultry. Yet they have to pay for animal feed to take care of their stock. Therefore, nobody should tell me that these herdsmen ( some herding cattles running into thousands) ,cannot afford to ranch and feed their stock . Cattle should only be moved when the farming season is over. The fulani herdsmen should learn to make hays while the sun shines in the NW. Those of them who are not Nigerians must be kicked out of the country. |
The federal government is too big and too useless to be of any benefit to anyone. They should all accept that the unitary, command and control state started by ironsi and doubled down upon has failed. The only thing that should be run by the FG is a portion of foreign affairs and the relationship between regions or autonomous states. Imagine, the Nigerian government still runs stadiums. Dilapidated ones at that. But oil money will not allow those at helms to think straight. No amount of taxation will change this fact. |
The churches have been so corrupted that they are incapable of summoning any form of resistance. Sharia must be shot down. |

At some point in the future,Yoruba leaders would have Stop making the best of a bad situation .You can never achieve prosperity in the midst of lawlessness. We do not share anything in common with people beyond the minority states bordering our Kingdoms. The ikoyi /Victoria island experience is different from the experience of millions of Oodua nationals. Why are they keeping up with the charade? |
Hard infrastructure refers to the large physical networks necessary for the functioning of a modern industrial nation. Includes the roads, bridges, tunnel, water works etc soft infrastructure refers to all the institutions which are required to maintain the economy, health, and cultural and social standards of a country, such as the financial system, the education system, the health care system, the system of government, and law enforcement, as well as emergency services. From wiki Lagos Ogun Ibadan. River Anambra Kano. My ranking based on the definition above and viable non oil, federal feeding bottle economy. Kaduna and kano are 2 states dependent on welfare from the centre. This show in their IGR. |
More grease to the elbow of our so called policymakers who have continued to double down on the has coming our from a lawless and ungoverned space since 1999. The next time I hear gas from the mouth of Fashola, I will year my hairs out. |
These guys do not realise that it is 11:59 already. This is not 1982.The world has changed. Miyetti Allah, abi.The terrorists group. |
This man is from Borno, the same state that has been wrecked by boko haram. The leader of boko haram got his start in the mosque built by this man. Instead of building school to reduce the no of al majiris and poverty , they peddle religion. Meanwhile, his own daughters are not under the choke hold of the medieval fundamentalist Islam being peddled in those mosques. I once said that Nigeria has the wrong types of elites. That a new breed, with elite thinking, elite psyche, elite patriotism is needed. Mostly psychopaths with low self esteem. They need the paraphernalia of office or wealth to compensate for their lack of self esteem. This is the building he built for a university in a wealthy country. Not Ife, OAU, maiduguri,Uniport or UNN. Bit in a country that already has too much

When my grandmother was young, Rice was deemed as only good to be used as animal feed( cock and hens). |
The avengers are doing Nigeria a favour. The FG should do What the Saudis are doing. Simply sell off NNPC to the highest bidders and use the money to develop non oil activities. |
Who is crying over spilt milk? Let them destroy. If this does not lead to a change of priorities, then Nigerian deserve to suffer |
Bicycles and mass transits all the way. |
Truth be told, is there really anyone who would not give a good account of himself with the resources available to Lagos accompanied by the efficient propaganda machinery of the Lagos-Ibadan press? Even Ambode is lighting up Lagos now. Unfortunately, Babatunde Fashola is now better known as the Minister for Darkness. His masquerade capitulated in front of the white man's pistol. He cuts a pitiful sight nowadays as he often had to explain away why Nigeria's power output fell from 5,000MW to zero megawatt twice recently or the inability of the power stations to get constant gas supply or why the tariffs had to go up. --------------------------------------------------------------- I have been on the case of Buhari, Fashola, Tinubu and Ambode through constructive criticism. What I cannot stand is to allow the mentality ( as expressed above) that turned the entire country apart from lagos ogun and oyo into a basket case like others. IF IT WAS THAT EASY, MAYBE THE WRITER WILL HELP US SHOW THE OTHER GOVERNORS HOW TO TURN N5 BILLION ANNUAL INCOME INTO N500 BILLION SINCE IT IS VERY EASY yeye dey smell. The usual clownish idea that 500 billion naira is waiting in the bank to be spent. This writer could not even start to comprehend how the lagos state government recycles money through the bonds, loans, award and grants to |
Sure -p = sure pocketing of the people's money = sure poverty. The same Jonathan told us he wanted to petrol Subsidy to save us money created a phantom kerosene Subsidy to siphon over $6 billion. Avon were. |
Not gonna happen until the localisation of power within states / region occur. |
