The biggest mistake is not replacing corrupt and useless appointees and civil servants |
Wetin concern Agbero concern overload. |
It is painful to see Nigeria starting all over again. Back to 1984. It took only 5 years for 'em clowns to mess the whole place up. Nice to see that the emphasis is less on oil and borrowing will be for capital investment. |
Many reasons All to do with OBJ, soludo, Ekwesili, shamshudeen us an, El rufai. Absolutely nothing to do with Iweala who was busy scamming the country. |
David mark Motto Stealing since before most Nigerians were born |
Only stupiddz consider that quack Iweala an expert. You do not need to go deep to see through her incompetence. The only good news is that Buhari( willpower) is single-handedly keeping Nigeria away from the claws/ jaws of the IMF. If not for his insistence of non devaluation and checking the flight of our forex, they would have picked Nigeria's bone clean by now. will he cave to pressure? Only time will tell. But for those who know how things work, the IMF and the world bank have no need for patriotic and deep people. They want only pliable people who can obey orders. |
Iweala's friends |
enlightenedmind:Not only that. We need citizenship, basic economics and civic test for the masses /politicians as well. |
enlightenedmind:Not only that. We need citizenship, basic economics and civic test for the masses /politicians as well. Mumuism is why quacks like okonjo can come mortgage the future of generations. |
fulanimafia:Why did she save the federal government's 55% share of the ECA( over $12 billion)? The main reason why the governors kicked was because Jonathan and his goons were already stealing the money. |
Will this woman disappear? The country is suffering from her mismanagement. Before this woman senior civil servants were on salaries of between N100,000 and N200,000. After her, salaries run into the millions, the civil service is more bloated and yet government revenues have barely risen. Apart from the oil boom revenues which were either stolen or squandered. Who runs a business or country like that? |
Will this woman disappear. |
Why employ more into an ineffective navy? |
Linda has been able to build a successful brand No doubt. She achieved this as a woman in a very dysfunctional and patriarchal society like Nigeria. However, she seems to be getting engaged in too many e-wars. If she doesn't want to destroy what she has created ( it only takes one person with money, time and know-how to take over the gossip market ), she should spend more time, effort and money on building direct relationships instead of buying fake bags. If she had done built up relationships, she would have been on speed dial to all these people. She should look up to people with successful blogs like Arriana Huffington of Huffingtonpost who spend less time on self promotion but more time on critical issues. -landlord kicks someone out of his house - Her editors note should be on housing shortages, homelessness and tenancy etc - Okadaman gets crushed by a lorry- Her editors note should discuss the dangers. |
Who is to blame? You. Why are you both asking the question why, in spite of the billions of dollars of free and easy money made by the do called "captains of industry", they have not built a single refinery. You know what? They are not business men. They are rent seekers and want the gravy train to continue. On another note, the respite ftom the traffic madness is one good thing to come out of this. fewer cars on the road is something I've always advocated for. Bicycles are urgently needed. |
I am sure Nigerians will be well represented. You cannot do much with business men apart from telling the to pay up back taxes. The politicians though, all money much be seized. |
Aribinonsene. Those who agreed to share a stage with the nuisance of a man have themselves to blame. Everybody is corrupt does not mean that a fight against the ogre should be applauded. On the students, Isn't it obvious that Nigerians are not educated to think? We cram our way through school and hungry stomach was always a recurring decimal after blowing all your funds on mammy holy water at the starts of the semester This takes me back to what I said 2 days ago about how western countries groom people for leadership. |
Jonathan took billions of naira from the so called sovereign wealth funds that belonged to all the states, without the consent of the owners,Under the guise of Niger bridge. Yet no bridge. 150 billion bridge where they could easily have built same for maybe N40 billion when dollars was raining left right and centre. I will be surprised if federal government can get the funds to build that bridge today. Nigeria is Broke Too many mouths( much of it corrupt and unproductive) to feed and not enough wealth creators. |
Common sense dictates that the country is too complex and heterogeneous for an ever too big, bumbling and incompetent entity ( aka federal government). The federal government that is unable to finds his way around maitama will never be able to supply adequately pure water if she tried. I listened to Fashola monologue on YouTube and his naive confidence in the so called free market ( in Nigeria's case, the crony market) tells me that he lives in an alternate reality. In that monologue, he said something must people must have missed. He said that one of the discos needed only N9 billion to provide meters for all their customers. Yet that disco would have to go to the banks to raise the money. The fact that the do called private disco cannot raise 9 billion fast enough for total coverage tells me that the owners should not have been sold the license. I remember when GSM came. Those guys had to take foreign loans running into billions of to erect their infrastructure. |
Nice that people are beginning to see the light but it will take a lot of work to gain critical mass. Why do we want to continue to deal with existential threats not of our own making? We have a functional society already. we've had it for centuries in spite of all the wars. If you come back in 50 years time, the problems would be the same and this country will continue to mass manufacture poverty. |
At this rate,Nigeria is on borrowed time |
A project befitting a know-nothing Agbero. I know that foolish people will be hailing this as development. No it is not. Not only is the money better spent on wealth creation, the fact is that flyovers are only built as a last resort, when other options like roundabouts, traffic lights, pedestrian auto light system and tunnels are not viable. Flyovers are urban eyesore and it is why in modern city planning, they try as much as to preclude them. In fact, many cities around the world are removing them their urban landscape. It took the shining of her Congo to see the light. Never too late, welcome to the club |

Adelaide2:This is where I will stop. I do not converse with the unaware. You are 180 degrees ignorant. Nothing wrong with that. 99% of humanity are in the same boat. |
Adelaide2:Read his story and you will understand that he was groomed to become a leader. Shaped and mentored by top policy makers, opinion shapers, philosopher and educators. |
Lordgel:Whatever rocks their boat. How are you any different. From where I sit, y'all the same. As Blind as bat As superstitious as an medieval simpleton. As ignorant as a caveman. |
Fashola is wasting his time. Nothing other than restructuring Nigeria will change the power situation. If he likes, he can build power plants with 40000MW capacity, darkness will continue to prevail. |
You do not need any model. The answers are right there in your face. 1 pour money into technical education. Those degree /diploma mills aka tertiary education in Nigeria are not going to get the country anywhere. You do not need degrees to become a legal practitioner, accountant, journalists, aircraft maintenance engineer, machine tool operator, advanced farmer etc. 2 follow up with technical /engineering hubs and industrial estates. As we speak, an IT hub is growing by the day in yaba without any government help. Where did Nigeria waste money on IT hub ? Abuja, a place with little or no Information technology know-how. The lagos state government is also not doing anything. 3 use government policy to curb conspicuous consumption and reckless importation. 4 Direct funding to those who are already innovating and stop trying to make an entrepreneurs out of those who are not entrepreneurs( SURE-P). There are numerous fashion, engineering and information technology brands in Nigeria already. Support those. 5 Enforce laws 6 Give government contracts to those who are leaders in their field. e.g give shoe contracts to a shoemaker and not some politicians. 7 reduce the size of the government. A government that cannot pay his employees cannot afford those employees in the first instance. Downsize. 8 Something has to be done with the national assembly. 9 Most importantly, the federal government has to be downsized and the country restructured 10 Core infrastructure : Primary roads leading to the centres of production and commerce have to be top quality. Power supply improved. But all this depends on the restructuring of the country |
