We are just cowards in the south. All we are good at is ranting and shouting. We could not even defend ourselves at home and we are shouting freedom. What we fail to know is that freedom comes with a prize and we must be ready to pay. We need to rise up and defend ourselves against these monsters called herdmen or else anything is bound to happen
Count the yoruba nation out of your cowardice.
We the yorubas are not cowards.
Attacking civilians in the middle of the night does not make you brave either.
we have chosen peace for 100 years after centuries of warfare and strife.
We have been watching all the tribal gragra in this country since independence.
Yoruba nation have chosen not to mobilise because of the thought that something can be salvaged out of a bad situation.
If the leadership and the nation decide today that enough is enough, there will surely be mass mobilisation of all the elements of the Oodua nation. From diplomacy to military.

If true, a sovereign national conference should called by all tired of the structure of the Nigerian state and the intransigence of the looting elites.
There is a need to agree on borders and territory and tabling the outcome before the United Nations. Disregarding the Lies of the "We the people agree" falsehood in the Nigerian constitution is a task that must be done.
The authority of the federal government, state and local government is based on falsehood and their contribution or approval to such a conference is not needed.

Fashola is living in denial about the environment under which he is operating.
As long as security( militants, saboteurs, terrorists) in Nigeria is a mess,he could as well start filling a basket with water.
The only thing that will work is decentralisation and restructuring with the idea of creating oases of stability around the country.

I really want to hear what Father Mbaka have to say about this.
You people are using a tragedy that happened in your own home as political football.
Instead of rallying around a common stand, you are using it to hound those perceived as enemies.
Like I said before, what happened in Enugu is not mutually exclusive to what has been happening in plateau, benue, taraba etc when Jonathan was in power.
Those herdsmen always mobilise in nassarawa to unleash mayhem. Nobody went after them.
If that man or Buhari had done one tenth of what obj did, this might not have happened.
Father Mbaka made his views known about the power vacuum existing in the country( unless you want to dig your head into the sand).
Instead of going after terrorists, Jonathan was invading the SW with the military while his goons were stuffing their noses with the country's wealth.
Those views were tenable then, they are tenable now.
Views are not static, societies evolve and the demand for accountability is continous.A continuous Evaluation is how you judge the your leadership.
If the leadership is not doing his job, then he has to be held accountable for his actions or inaction .
Father Mbaka is not your elected official. Your elected officials are in Abuja and Enugu stuffing their noses with loot . They are one from whom answers should be demanded.

This current mayhem and Jonathan's are not mutually exclusive.
Someone was in charge when these terrorists started their mayhem without anyone challenging them.
They always came from nassarawa to commit murder.
TVC did a special on this case.
I cannot forget Jonathan's SSS apologising to an ethnic militia. After 54 SSS were murdered, "they left it to God".
The only president who took no prisoners was OBJ who dismantled anything and anybody who took up arms against the state.

If this issue is debated Time and time again, 4th mainland bridge is an urgent project which needs to swerve traffic from Island to Ketu/Ikeja/mainland axis.

People saying that is a waste project don't know what we lagosian go through at 3rd mainland bridge; morning and evening. We need to remind ourselves that the rail project is ongoing from CMS to OJO LGA which will reduce traffic in this axis. Also more plans are being laid to construct more overheads and expand existing roads on the mainland.

With all these transportation network, traffic will drastically reduce in lagos.
I will never judge Lagos with the same yardstick as other states.
I expect better.
Tell me where you do not have traffic in lagos?

Complete the metro, expand it, build conventional overground rail lines, build bicycle lanes. The same Ketu to Obalende will take you 20 minutes on a bicycle.
Problem solved and you so not need to build a bridge every 20 years

One of the crucial advantages of Democracy is that it limits the reach of the powers of the Federal government, while transferring some of their powers into the hands of the states. The sane and proper response within all the affected states I was expecting from the state governments is to as a matter of urgency through the state house of representatives enact and ratify a bill fully prohibiting the movement of cattle on state soil or under the jurisdiction of the state until a more solid impregnable security structure is set up to prevent and defeat such attacks. Also, at this point, bills for mandotary registration of all state residents, state identification or ID issuance, residential permit ID and security profiling are some of the bills that should already be on the table of the state house of representatives. Christianity as a religion as being taught by most of the fraudulent pastors have really dumbed-down and diminished the critical reasoning intelligence of the South. The Nigerian version of Christianity has simply turned many in the Southern part of Nigeria into fools! We have become the laughing stock of the north, and not only that, now their target practice for a full-blown jihad by murderous evil muslim terrorists in Nigeria in their relentless hellbent quest to Islamize this country.

Lol.

You've got time on ya hands to quote a paid hack. In an attempt to sound smart and unbiased, the clown sounded utterly dumb, obtuse, and vacuous. I doubt most of these sycophantic pseuds read what they post and the practicality of it before clicking the submit button.

How can you even talk about building ranches across the country when the lifestyle of the people differ from region to region and there are fault-lines everywhere. Then you have uneducated farmers who're still predominantly into subsistence farming and herdsmen who're mostly savagely illiterates. So what almighty formula are you going to use and how feasible is the proposal?

The solution is to either put a complete ban on nomadic farming, or just create a greenbelt somewhere in the Northern region where these herdsmen can go and do whatever they like there. And they also have to pay charges to the government there.
Bro, I know these guys. I know the mentality because I went to school with them.
What you are reading is the same sense of entitlement you see in their leaders and the terrorists herdsmen.
They feel entitled to graze their cattle on the farmers' land.
Lugard was right when he described all tribes in Nigeria.many called him a racist but he was right.
He aptly called them a fatalist.
They double down doing the same thing even If that thing is destroying them or is going to destroy them.

Awo understood this and that was the reason why all his battles were about liberating minorities from the chokehold of the major tribes through education.
On the other hand, we have the deluded Lagos crowd.
The champagne quashing, always partying and ikoyi/ Victoria island resident yoruba elites who stand got nothing.( Lugard's description).
Unlike yoruba elites of the past, these ones are useless akotiletas without any redeeming social value.
While the elites of the past supported Awo's programs, the current one is useless to society.
Until you realise that people like Tunde Bakare,Femi Falana, Afenifere and the rest sold the SW down the river at Jonathan's conference.
They sent them to get confederation.
They came back preaching one -Nigeria, indigenous rights for non-indigens and all other bull crap in a country full of intolerant ethnics.
People like these should never be allowed to represent Yorubas in any future local or international conference.
In fact, I am beginning to support the movement of the centre of yoruba nationalism away from the lagos/ogun crowd.

Nice. At the rate that Lagos is growing, we should be talking about a 5th, 6th and 7th mainland bridge as the Island corridor -- which is perhaps the fastest growing corridor is Africa. There are already plans to expand the light rail to cover and link more areas of the state. Lagos obviously wasn't originally developed to accommodate the level of growth its currently experiencing, therefore any visionary government would do what the current government is doing. Like someone once said, I'd be interested in finding out how many cities around the world with a mainland and an island and a population of 10-million and over which have only 3 links between mainland and island.
While schools and hospitals remain below par.
I am beginning to think that a new breed of leaders are needed in the SW. 4th mainland is a loud "O-try" project in the same category as a flyover in Ekiti.
A colossal waste of money.

I think it is worth debating in an open minded way rather than approach the discussion as if there is only one side. The issue is can better value be got spending the money elsewhere. My position: honestly I do not know but I think a public debate of alternatives is worthwhile
I once supported this project but after studying the direction cities around the world are going, I have changed my mind.
Imagine what cities like London and New York would look like if they had been catering for cars going into Manhattan or Central London.
In actual fact, you hardly see residents default to driving because the governments actively discourage it, thereby proactively reducing the need to continously expand infrastructure and diverting such to education wealth and other social services.

Lagos back in the days.

everything is 'wastage' to you guys! No matter how much they try to explain
This particular one is a waste and absolutely unnecessary. That state is already choked with vehicular traffic. Lagos needs to cater less for cars but more for trains, underground and bicycles.
Even the British knew this and made sure that you pay through your nose if you drove to the island ( there were parking meters everywhere, every 30 minutes, you had to feed the meter).
They have a metro already. Complete it,ring the street with overground railway, raise revenues with heavy congestion charges and biannual driving licenses, create bicycle lanes. This is what cities elsewhere are doing.
Not continue to waste money on ever expanding cities.
To even think about the amount of petrol being consumed in the state ( stuffs they should be exporting).
Let me guess, Once they quickly get all those vehicles into the island, they will have to waste more money expanding roads on the island.

Exactly what I am talking about. They wouldn't have to.instead they will be transporting themselves to business districts in Ketu, Ojo, Surulere etc
PoliticsRe: The Proposed 4TH Mainland Bridge & Masterplan In Pictures by oduastates:
4th mainland bridge is a shortsighted waste of money as a result of lack of planning.

Why do we need another bridge to a tiny island, that will be under water, in less than 100 years.
Like the badly concieved mega city thingie, which has resulted in the spread of an urban ghetto sprawl, this money would have been better spent on reclaiming what has been lost.
Instead of a single business district , would it not have been better to have a series of business districts like the central business district and use it as a launching pad to regenerate entire areas.
Like one business district in Ketu, Surulere, Agege and Ojo respectively thereby reducing the need for a new bridge all the time.
That money would also be better spent building a subway system or urban railways system.

1Congestion charge( btw the time, you have to pay)
2 Bicycle lanes
3 cheap Overground trains and other mass transit systems without fancy stations
4 expensive vehicle and driver licensing regime apart from commercial vehicles. E.g Singapore is 3 times the size of lagos, has a lower population but makes driving private cars a very expensive affair.
5 The proposed new city being in dubai( masdar city) will not allow cars into the city centre ( last pix

Very unfortunate.

While I will support anyone to criticize and urge the govt to act very swiftly against the terrorists called Fulani herdsmen, this reality is the more reason to support the govt in its bid to establish controlled ranches across Nigeria.

Chest-beating and bragging (just like the guy below) that these terrorists will be dealt with should they come to carry out their act of terrorism of maiming and killing innocent citizens will not solve any problem but instead worsen it. They are terrorists and you bragging to face them are not. So, who wins?

The herdsmen, from time immemorial, have been known to be violent and act irrationally. The only difference now is the advent of social media and better news coverage. While growing up, I could recollect some of their atrocities I witnessed.
May God punish that your controlled ranches.
You can create your ranches in the NW and NE.
What else do you have to give to a perpetual welfare addict?they contribute absolutely nothing to the federal purse, get the most out of it and yet, forever remain dependent while the small inbred fulani elite steal most of the revenues.
They double down on policies that make their entire regions unviable( banning alcohol, Night clubs and other leisure businesses that make a place grow.
They double down on medieval religious practices. Al majiri, child marriage etc and remain forever unviable.

1. A lot of people calling for zones have forgotten why we have states in the first instance. It was to protect minority rights, and to make governance easier.

2. Regionalism does not guarantee better government. Is it not the same corrupt political elite that would come and rule us.

3. Every time I hear regions, I always hear about how the south will get more oil money. Is it the whole region that gets oil money, or just the oil producing part.?

4. Regionalism will not solve our basic problem, which is reliance on revenue from raw materials, which is not stable because we do not control the price. It would just be the same issue under different name.

5.The old regions worked because we had the right kind of people and we had stable revenue thanks to a guaranteed market for our raw material in the Uk. We do not have that now, our agric and mining are out of date, and oil is not going to reach $50 per barrel again.

6.I am sorry, but Nigeria's problem is awoof money and lack of self reliance. Sort those issues out, and we shall prosper whatever the system.
Well those minorities can have their own micro states if they cannot live with the bigger states.
