PointB: Hmmm, Tenisuga, the self appointed Electoral Commissioner for the Yoruba Aare Ona Kankanfo of Nairaland has defied all the odds and pressure from the high and mighty to press ahead with the election:Honorable electoral commissioner ![]() |
Desola: This is ridiculous! Clearly, the op is indeed ibo to have accepted nominations for Musiwa whose mental capabilities are in doubt.Demokrasy! ![]() |
Gaybriel: When militant starts dem go here am. They are putting their eggs in one basket. Lagos is the safest place to do business. Moving out of lagos means you are prone to attack from either boko haram or militant. There are many lagos haters on this forum. Na me say make una state no develop. Even when fg neglected lagos, she is still waxing strong. As long as you do not wish lagos well it can't be well with nigeria. That's probably the main reason why they're moving back. Let's say that NLNG's, PH base reported damaged equipment that required urgent repair. Equipment and surveyors/technicians from the HQ would have to drive all the way down to PH (about 9 hours or so) before anything would be done. |
Gaybriel: All those praising the relocation are not deep thinking. Don't you know that Lagos is the fairest place to do business in Nigeria? In Lagos, you are not employed based on tribe. Also, companies in Lagos are well recognised internationally than anywhere in Nigeria. Companies in Lagos make more money than anywhere in Nigeria though they would have to pay tax. Let's watch, and you will soon begin to hear of corruption in NLNG in their new location. If you are deep-thinking you will also know that moving breadwinners of families to a new location could affect the family which is the bedrock of any nation. Finally, a company that does not have presence in Lagos is yet to be financially stable. That means NLNG is about to liquidate. What business is it doing in Lagos that it can't do in any otter city? It's not as if it's a consumer marketing corporation. The company is only drilling gas for export and sale. The company itself isn't really making any money in Lagos since it's wealth is being generated in Rivers state. It's just that it's total revenue is being collected and redistributed in Lagos (after hefty taxation, that is). Rivers state would welcome the development and would offer lighter taxes. |
I think it's mainly an issue of "sizing you up". It's like being the new kid in class. No one knows how you're going to turn out to be, and the older guys try to make a powerful impression on you. I've witnessed this myself a few times and I equally agree that it's wrong. If you would like to participate in a discussion, you are free to despite what anyone says. Be bold and stand your ground. |
I believe the only benefit the NLNG might have recieved in Lagos is a larger and more diverse pool of possible employees. Its very possible that it was driven out mainly by logistical reasons and, of course, Lagos state's high taxes. While in Lagos State, they would've needed to travel hundreds of miles to reach their actual resource sites whereas now (assuming their move is complete), a few minutes drive is all that's needed. Besides, the abundance of land available for future corporate expansion surely played a major role in its relocation. I prophesize that many more companies will relocate to their bases of operation. You can't work in Jericho and live in Jerusalem. |
Musiwa: their business will fold up if they do, because they have more filling station in the western niger than anywhere. who is going to buy petrol in bayelsa state. how many cars is in bayelsa state that shell, mobil, chevron want to sell to in bayelsa state. their business will fold up. Jonathan Goodluck will destroy them up by that move. Most of the oil obtained by these companies is actually used for international export. Therefore, the population of a state does not hold much sway in terms of the physical location of a corporation. The rest can easily be sent out to other states via pipelines and etc. Besides, it would be beneficial for them to move to less populated, oil-producing states since there will be significantly less taxes for them to worry about. Bayelsa state would probably be begging them to set up shop and would probably offer them cheap land to builld-upon and develop for them. Whereas Lagos state would present them with unreasonably high land and revenue taxes (especially in Victoria Island) and would probably treat them indifferently since there are dozens of other companies for it to such its revenue from. |
It's well established that the South-East is in dire need of an international airport(s). But if there will be more than one, where should it be located? I think that one in Enugu and another in Owerre is a good idea. The Enugu one would serve the Northern portion of the SE while the Owerre one would serve the Southern portion. @Eze, onwere emailu mzigara gi. |
Wouldn't it be interesting if the future Aare of Yoruba Nairaland and the Eze Ndi Igbo Nairaland worked together to advance our common aims? |
Oh, I see. Thank you very much Ify. I guess it's one of those phrases that are meant to be spoken only lol. If written and used out of context... ![]() |
What if he is behind all of these deaths? Just a thought. |
not2long: OPYou know, Katsumoto is (according to him) a non-Yoruba. As of now, it's impossible to conclude that he is Yoruba. So I'm guessing if he can be nominated, any other non-Yoruba can also be. |
