I equally know what you are talking about. Looking at all the essentials of safety, The engineering control, the environmental control, and the personal protection, i'm proposing that there should be optimising on the cost of achieving safety such that there should be a trade off being safety and profitability.

sincerely your questions are first of all beyond the scope of what I asked for in my post. And also my experience for the past 8 years have been in downstream operations. But I believe there would be someone in the house to answer the questions for me to learn as well. Thanks

There is a Maxim that 'If you think safety is expensive try accident.' The cost of accident is unarguably enormous. But most times the cost of observing safety can outweigh profit making. The core mandate of every business is to make profit. To achieve safety at a low cost is the best option. This can be achieved by an Internal Regulatory Mechanism. First safety policy/manual is drafted for the organization. Safety roles are shared among managers and line foremen. Safety committee is setup. And an external safety consultant is engaged for technical aspects.

I handle contracts for design, construction, operations, and licensing (DPR) of downstream oil and gas facilities. I undertake HSE services

Nigerian graduates see themselves as being trained for employers rather than being trained for customers and clients. It is cool getting a well paid job. And it can be cheap most times getting those jobs. But other times can very hard - from other people's experience. If it comes easily fine, if it does not then we move on. My mates in oil sector, I know them already - schooled in PTI so you know I have a handful of them making big already. But some other of my mates too are wallowing in regrets 'cos of not being able to find the job. I have seen entrepreneurs (oil servicing) that come to consult me and what I always ask myself is, "if this one is offered job in the oil sector would he take?" Answer is NO. Being an employee is cool - certainly above 1M naira monthly salary. But there are businesses that when it yields gives you more than that. Gives you freedom. Gives you a name. And a sense of satisfaction that you've created jobs. I make good results because i'm committed to making them - be it in employment or entrepreneurship (i'm sorry for making this reply long. I'm also a graduate of PTI, effurun (m10/PEG/HND). Best graduating student in my class as well, I've been in Lagos hustling like an average Nigerian graduate out there. I'm still optimistic though, with my head held high.

I started a business last year which I'm still growing from the scratch. It's been tough though but I believe say God go do am. like an average PTI student, I still hope for an opportunity in our oil sector (at least to compensate for all the struggles in PTI - I'm sure you know how it is over there).

My concept of consulting: By virtue of my education, training, and experience, investors in the downsream petroleum sector seek my advice and I get a fee for that. I can boldly say i'm an authority when it comes to design, construction, licensing, and operation of downstream oil and gas facilities. Trained in PTI, got experience with DPR and Exxonmobil - and being in private practice for years - all on downstream operations.

wow! See offer. I need a job at the moment. There is a lot that needs to be fixed - marriage etc. The consulting business, owning of plants is mutually exclusive. I can always do them anytime, or at leisure. Job first to boost the fund required.

I entered facebook yesternight and saw notification that it was my secondary school friend's birthday. I then loggedout, scroll my phone and saw the friend's number. We've not met for the past five years, we've not come in contact. The last I gathered was that she was married. Was not aware of the ceremony, was not invited and didn't attend. So I thought well that by now she will no longer have my phone number. So I draft a few line of message that went thus: "Happy Birthday - frm Engr. Id Oduok". I remembered quite well she used to be a Jehovah's Witness member . That they don't celebrate many things. But little did I know that it was an offense to even wish them well on any instance. This morning she called me. I recognized the voice but what I heard was: "Brother Joshua Akpan, good morning and how is your family..." I then told her it was me her schoolmate in secondary school. She recalled but was now wondering how she saved my number as Brother Joshua Akpan. That the husband had seen the message whose sender was Brother Joshua Akapn while the messaged beared Engr. Id Oduok. She later called again this afternoon that that message is causing a lot of trouble. That the husband has scattered her phone and that she is very angry with me for tearing her marriage. Please i'm feeling so guilty but i'm so very innocent.

Smart girls always avoid giving. Simply because they are not ready for committnent. They are so careful not to give a guy anything - time, calls, text messages etc. They don't want to be bonded. Check this out

Paradoxically, girls work by law of inverse proportion. You are straight forward and sincere, a girl will prefer the guy that lies. You are wellbehaved, a girl will prefer the rough guy. You take care of a girls daily need but she will later fall for the guy that gives her a single hilarious treat. Guys always assume that girls love you the more when you give her the more. But this is not true. Girls get more emotionally attached to the guys that receive from them than the guy that give to them. So if you love a particular girl, stop giving her but start making her to give to you. Insist on receiving from her. Ask for her time. Ask for her calls, text messages. Ask for school fees. Ask for food etc. This way her love for you will build.
