Good day Mr. Strongbest (Thank you for the useful knowledge you have been sending out) and fellow trainees. I decided to start my liquid soap production today, so I went to the market (at Alaba Suru) today and got far higher prices then the ones above.

Caustic soda-------------------- 1/4kg(N100)

Should I go ahead with the purchase or are they exorbitant if am to make a good profit? What are the current prices at other markets like Ojota etc? Are there subtle but salient things that I should note while buying the chemicals?

Mr. Strongbest and anybody who have an answer, pls respond so that I won't start telling stories that touch.

COMPARATIVE PRICE ANALYSIS:
IN EKET, AKWA IBOM I got the same quantity of chemicals this month, September, 2016:
Natrosol - 1/8kg (N500)

Caustic Soda - 1/4kg (N150)

IN OSOGBO, OSUN STATE, I got same quantity of chemicals this month at the rate of:
Natrosol - 1/8kg (N400)
Sulphonic Acid 1L (N600)
Soda Ash - 1/2kg (N90)
Caustic Soda - 1/4kg (N100)
STPP - 1/4kg (N75)
Perfume - 30ml (N250)
Texapon - 1/4kg (N250)
Colour - 1wrap (N50)
SLS - 1/4kg (N100)
So if you compare the prices you were given with two price regime that I have presented you will see that there is no significant difference. Whether you will make profit or "good profit" depend on the pricing model for your products. I produce: Liquid detergent, Bar Soap, Germicide, Air Freshener, and Bleach. And I am making good profit irrespective of how much and where I buy my chemicals. Set your Business Canvas Model straight.

Most LIs dey give final clearance, our own has even collected back. I submitted mine last week. Now I'm wondering, if stream I will be paid october allowance despite passing out Oct 6, will stream II be paid november 2016 allowance since we've been extended till November?

This is how the thing works: NYSC is for 12 calendar months and Federal Government pays the 12 months Allowance. Stream I entered camp by 28th October, 2015 and are supposed to serve till 28th October, 2016. But they will pass out by 6th October, 2016 and be paid for 12 months while their discharge certificate will bear 28th October, 2016. So from 6th to 28th October, 2016 make up 3weeks which federal government grant corps members as their terminal leave. Meaning Discharge Certificate will start to be valid by 28th October, 2016. Stream II entered camp 25th November, 2015 and are supposed to pass out 25th November, 2016. But they will pass out 4th November, 2016 and be paid November allowance to complete 12 months payment. But their certificate will bear 25th November, 2016. So the certificate will start to be valid 3weeks after POP which marks the terminal leave. (It does not require going to law school to know how to count legal time in months)

I JUST FINISHED MY TEST NOW. Guess what? I used NOKIA X2 to login through Opera Mini. Also I didn't receive any text message before logging in. Federal government programmes always favour me and I pray this one do too.

Nigeria has abundance of palm fruits/oil. This oil can be refined - bleached, degummed, and deodourized to have a product that will be useful as substitute to groundnut oil in frying and palm kernel oil in soap and cosmetics. Dangote sugars, I learnt, imports coconut oil as intermediate product due to odour dominant in ours - coconut oil can be deodourized. Food industries complain of odour in palm kernel oil as substitute to groundnut oil in frying - this odour can be handled. The foregoing gives justification for research into the design of pilot plant for refining of vegetable oils. Yes, all things are possible. What you refer to as standard equipments are
not really something special. They are just the basic things you may need for large scale production and they don't have to be of any specialized or particular standard.

But I must be honest with you, NAFDAC don't come very cheap. Please, if you are still in town you can plan to visit my center there. That should be after the second batch (stream B) of the guys in camp have left. By then I will be very free to take you around and probably share some ideas with you and other things you need to know.

Thanks sir. I'll gladly do that. If not that my PPA is very far from Osogbo, I would have been frequenting your centre - I serve in Ife South (bondary with Ondo State). I'm aware of the financial demands of NAFDAC. I'm budgeting 100,000naira on NAFDAC direct charge/logistic for the two products - Liquid Detergent and Bar Soap. But cost and even where to see standard equipment to buy has really been a concern to me. I've dedicated my one bedroom flat apartment as my factory. Someone even called me from Lagos and want to partner to distribute my product. Will gladly visit ur centre

I'm producing these things for my personal use now. But i'm commercializing Liquid Detergent and Bar Soap. I'm getting lots of customers. Now I want get NAFDAC Registration. Please my question is can NAFDAC register my product without standard equipment?

Please I still need clarification. Since one doesnot need to have one million naira to incorporate a one million naira share base company. So what does it mean when we say a one million naira share base company. I have been running business with a business name but I want to incorporate it now.

I base in Eket. Akwa Ibom State. But right now i'm on my NYSC in Osun State. I advice my product on facebook page and my friends in Lagos have started calling for bulk supply. But I feel I should put the product to standard - branding, label, packaging, and NAFDAC approval, even SON. I really need to bring out a brand that will compete favourably with big brands

I have an intensed passion for entrepreneurship. Have rendered services all through my undergraduate days. And when I graduated started to nurse interest in introducing products to the market. I have done researches and undergone training on production of Liquid Detergent and Soap. My high quality Liquid Detergent is on sale though at a very low production rate. Now I want all the information needed to enlist my product among leading brands in the country. NAFDAC, equipment needed to scale up my production and where to get them, labeling and packaging, registration of brand name, how do products get popular and spread to every part of the country? Because the Last time I checked Automated Fabricated Palm oil Plant is 1.5m on 20th June 2015. Now that there is inflation such machine will be around 2m.
Do you have a site for the business?
I suppose you will pay rent from the 1m!
You will also build a temporary structure or is the business going to operate openly without a Roof?
How much is Raw materials and other Operational Materials/Equipment?
e.g Palm Fruits, Kegs, Funnels, Drums, Tank, Diesel, Generate let say 8HP of Water cool Engine is Around N160,000-N170,000 now!

Thanks a lot. Then I will have to learn a lot from you. I've considered all that. There are three levels of technology employed in the palm oil extraction - traditional method or low technology, medium technology, and high technology. So i'm using medium technology which is combined mechanical and manual method. The equipment cost and installation is about 800,000naira. Actually the entire project cost is about 1.25million naira and i'm contributing 20% equity. As for land, i'm using my family land, so no rent. I'll fence round and raise a shade. 8HP lister gen was estimated to be 130,000 (inclusive in equipment and installation cost). I welcome more contribution from ur wealth of experience.

Nigeria consumes over 1,865,000litres of Palm Oil annually while its production is 1,087,000litres meaning that 40% of the commodity is being imported. I also carried out a work on the average consumption rate of Palm Oil in hotels in my Local Government and found out that each consumes an average of 150litres weekly. Palm oil is an essential commodity that is very useful as food and has wide application in cosmetics, biodiesel, drilling mud making, pharmaceutical etc. By the time we develop the nation's Palm oil extraction, processing, and refining sector it will yield wide vairiety of value added product that will boost the economy, create jobs, improve the value of Nigeria, curb climate change by encouraging more plantation of the trees. I share this idea because i've been working on building this sector of the agroprocessing and I welcome constructive advice from those that share the same passion, research interest, and experience. As youths let's join hands together to groom this wealth creating business.
