So with all these talks about what the future holds for Lionel Messi and where he could end up playing next year.. I have decided to come up with reasons why a move to Man Utd may/may not be beneficial.. REASONS WHY HE COULD MOVE TO MAN UTD Man Utd's need for a quality right winger Not since the days of Alex Ferguson has Man utd had a true right winger who has the individual ability to decide games in their favour.. The likes of rashford, lingard, mata, perreira, martial and sanchez have all tried in that position with little/no success. Man utd's need for a right winger can be best illustrated by their recent pursuit of Jadon Sancho, but with the transfer proving very difficult, why not make a move for the best right winger on the planet? Man Utd have all the resources to pull off the transfer Probably every club in the world today would want Messi, but how many could afford having him on their payroll? Psg could make a move, but they would need to sell one of their superstars to avoid breaking ffp rules. I doubt if he would be willing to move to Bayern after what happened last thursday, and a move to Juve is unlikely because of 'you know who' Inter milan has been mooted as a possible destination but that would require him to move on a free transfer and also to take a massive paycut.. A move to Man City would require them to halt their plans to sign new defenders and also to sell one/some of their wingers. After moving Alexis Sanchez who was their highest earner off their payroll, Man Utd could simply replace him with Messi. A chance to prove himself in England One of the greatest football myths is if Messi could win with a team that is not Barcelona, and this transfer would provide all the answers needed. There's hardly any Man utd fan that is not a fan of Ronaldo, what better way to win them over than to surpass what the Portugese legend did in Manchester. A chance to preserve his legacy Barca's recent struggles on the pitch is not surprising and personally I don't think its going to get better unless Bartomeu leaves the club, unfortunately, the general elections does not come up till 2021,so the question is.. Is Messi willing to risk facing further embarassment next season?? A chance to work with one of the world's most exciting sides Man Utd's trio of Martial, Rashford and Greenwood are probably the best this season, and along with the likes of Fernandez and Pogba, they certainly won't need Messi to win all games by himself, unlike the situation in Barcelona. REASONS WHY HE SHOULD NOT MOVE TO MAN UTD He risks destroying his Barcelona legacy Barca will always be thankful to Messi for all the magical memories down the years, but if he stayed with them during the good times, why move now when the club needs him the most? Solkjaer's transfer policy OGS usually prefers young, english players and Messi does not really fit this description.. But then, neither does Odion Ighalo, but that was mainly because they needed cover for the injured Rashford and could not get their preferred targets. He could disrupt the harmony within Man Utd squad A team can only be successful when most/all of its player are happy. A move to Man utd would require the no.10 jersey currently worn by Rashford to be vacated, and the last time that happened was between Martial and Ibrahimovic, and we all know how that played out. A move to Man Utd would definitely make Messi the best paid player in epl, but the last time such a thing happened was with Alexis Sanchez, and a majority of their players demanded a payrise which does not usually end well. Thanks for reading. |
nairatag:Hahahahahahahaha.. I dont think you have actually seen fernandes play bros.. 11 goals and 10 assists since he joined man utd is no fluke my guy, since he came to epl, he has won two epl player of the month award(out of a possible 3).. he's also the highest goalscorer in the europa league this season despite being a midfielder.... forget all this penandes stuff, if penalty was easy, man utd might probably be preparing to play wolves tonight, not sevilla.. and before I forget Fernandes has taken 29 career penalties and have scored 27 of them.. I don't even think he has missed any penalty during the past 3-4years.. these are stats that the likes of messi and cr7 would be jealous of.. De bruyne is a fine player, no doubt.. but if Fernandes can continue like this and maybe even improve, then there's nothing stopping him from winning the best player award come next season |
Whobedatte:wait oo, is the mvp award a trophy? is the golden ball award a trophy?? incase you don't know the meaning of trophies outside Spain, let me list them for you.. UCL, uefa super cup, club world cup, copa america and world cup.. now tell me which one Messi has won without neymar, iniesta and xavi.. |
The fact that this is the first time a player from man city is winning this award despite dominating the best part of the last decade in epl is nothing but a mystery I'm a man utd fan but I gotta admit that this award is the least de bryune deserves.. He's committed, hardworking, skillful and a joy to watch on the field... infact he's everything I wished paul pogba would be when we signed him Kudos to de bruyne, although the portugese magnifico(bruno fernanadez) will be coming for this award next season |
FrankBass281:Tell me a single trophy that messi has won outside spain without xavi, iniesta and neymar by his side? |
lordprogress:Hahahahaha, for your mind, you don talk better thing Anyways, I meant to say half a decade, thank you for spotting the error.. goodbye |
osaslord500:Bros na wa for you.. is ballon dor a club/international trophy? |
tesppidd:How many goals and assists did bale have when madrid won those trophies? Where was bale when the likes of bayern, psg, wolfsburg, juve and athletico came knocking on madrid's door? Why has bale not been able to perform those magic since cr7 left? Agreed, the likes of rooney, giggs, etc were top players but so are the likes of griezmann, suarez, vidal, dembele and even coutinho(on loan).. why has your GOAT not been able to perform with these players.. the only thing he's good at is making his good team mates look like bad players.. infact have you ever wondered why the likes of aguero, banega, di maria, lavezzi, etc who are top players for their club side suddenly became average players when they put on their national jersey.. messi killed their international career same way he's killing the likes of dembele, griezmann, and coutinho Like I said earlier, messi cant win anything outside spain without iniesta, xavi and neymar.. Period |
tesppidd:Was bale also a man utd player when cr7 won the trophy in 2008?? Oga, make we bone talk, without neymar, iniesta and xavi, Messi cant win anything outside spain |
tesppidd:Ronaldo went to juve to win the ucl, and last time I checked, he still has two more years on his contract, so calm down bro Afterall the Argentine midget have not won the ucl for like half a century now, so why are you rushing the GOAT?? |
prodigyhenry:Wow, so Pessi fans can be this humble... Interesting |
Hahhahahahahahahahaha... Cry me a river bros Barca and their perennial bottler(Pessi) always find new ways to disgrace themselves every season.. From juventus(3-0) to roma(3-0) to liverpool(4-0) and finally to bayern(8-2) yesterday.. The one that will happen next season will be enough to send Pessi to early retirement |
tesppidd:Without cr7 juve would not have come this far, simple.. incase you dont know, juve have scored 7 goals in knockout stages since cr7's arrival, and all these goals have been scored by cr7... Agreed juve before cr7 went to 2 finals and one semifinal but you cant compare those teams (pogba, pirlo, vidal) with this current one(matuidi, pjanic, and bentacur)... and besides dont forget in one of those finals and the semi final that mentioned, cr7 taught them a hard lession.. You claim that messi is old, but you are forgetting that cr7 was also 33 years old when he destroyed Bayern |
tesppidd:Lies, that aint no typographical error bro.. You totally replaced one letter(D) with not one but two different letters(SW).. You that went to school, if you wrote swuhari as the president of Nigeria in an exam, would they pass or fail you? Okay, lets agree that dybala plays much deeper than cr7, is that the reason why he should have the same number of assist as cr7?? surely having the opportunity to feed a proven goalscorer like cr7 should guarantee him at least 10 assists, don't you think? |

Oga, shut up there if you have nothing to say You said dybala plays more as a sweeper, so I want you to explain to me what you mean by a sweeper I never said I expected dybala to score more goals than cr7 but rather I said I was surprised that he and cr7(who is very selfish according to pessi fans) have the same number of assists Learn to read well before jumping into my mentions next time, goodnight |
tesppidd:Jesus! I'm ashamed of you bros, this your post have proven to me that you know nothing about football.. I would advise you to check up the meaning of 'sweeper in football' before you decide to post rubbish next time.. Goodnight |
tesppidd:Did dybala deserve the award? Yes, he did But this your analysis does not make sense, I swear Dybala and cr7 are both forwards, and forwards are judged based on goals and assists... With all the talk about dybala being super creative and cr7 selfish, I was surprised to see that they both had the same number of assists |
Ustec:Nobody said cr7 was the first player to score over 50 goals in three different leagues, but rather he was the first to score 50 in epl, la liga and serie a.. the person that posted the info on nairaland only made a mistake with the title And also, cr7's goal against sampdoria was nothing short of spectacular, the height and the time he spent in the air was awesome... basketball stuff And also, cr7's overhead kick was better than bale's Lastly, please can you provide a link to the video where dzeko said all those things, I'd like to see it too |
A welcome development... He has played with/against most of the players in the team, so the respect and rapport is gonna be there.. Three things are needed for him to succeed 1. Help cr7 rediscover his goalscoring abilities from freekicks 2. Teach the midfielders how to create goalscoring chances like he did during his time 3. Sign a new defensive midfielder, attacking mildfielder, right back and maybe a new forward |
Juve should try and sign pochettino.. or better still try and bring back Conte.. Above all, they need to sign new players, some are either too old(eg bonucci), not good enough (eg danilo) or not just interested (eg higuain)... And they need young players with pace, it is quite sad that a 35years old is the fastest player in their sqaud |
maxwell530:Since when does being the highest goal scorer in a competition equate to being the best player?? |
joviegghead:Did messi perform in the ucl last year when he won the balon dor? And also unlike messi, cr7 can never be judged based on a world cup trophy cuz of the team he plays for.... The fact that cr7 has a trophy with portugal is a miracle itself |
MetalJigsaw:Please explain to me what you mean by 'even players from other leagues' cuz Sanchez was not a flop in Spain, neither was higuain.. pls how does saying that Kane would score 40goals imply that he is better than messi or suarez?? afterall, suarez has scored 40 goals in a single la liga season before while messi even scored 50.. just because those two did not score much this season does not mean they cant score 40 next season Incase you dont know, Kane was the highest goal scorer in europe in 2017.. the first player to break the messi-cr7 duopoly of being the highest goal scorer in a calendar year.... |
MetalJigsaw:Bale a flop?? He has 4ucl and 3la liga trophies with madrid and yet you call him a flop... Bale has not been playing recently, but thats mainly because zidane does not like him not because he's not good.. let me ask you a question.. since Bale started playing in Spain, how many players in that country have more goals than him within that period? And bros, Higuain and sanchez did not move FROM EPL TO LA LIGA as for A.song, he was not a world class player during his time in epl either And oga, harry kane would easily score 40goals in la liga |
kingola87:This season was difficult for hazard, no doubt.. but that does not make him a bad player, wait till the end of next season before jumping into conclusion... its just like courtois who was probably the worst goalkeeper in la liga last season but is now arguably the best this season And bro, hazard has never been much of a goalscorer, throughout his time in england, he never won the golden boot, so I dont expect him to suddenly start scoring goals for fun in la liga... But you see the likes of kane, vardy, mane, salah, these guys are proven goalscorers and would score about 40goals in la liga |
Baba4kinatu:Did you design that pic yourself... I dont know where you got that stats from, but even a dumb person would know that 68% of 27 matches is not 11 starts... The pic below is the real stats from the site you visited and here's the link incase you wanna verify https://www.transfermarkt.com/fabio-quagliarella/leistungsdaten/spieler/22328
|
Baba4kinatu:Quadlieralla have actually played 27 games this season( not 24 as I said earlier) and 25 of these games have been from the start... |
Moura7:Modric, bale, suarez, forlan |
Baba4kinatu:Hahahahaha, it would interest you to know that last season was the FIRST TIME in his career that Quagliarella had scored more than 20 league goals in a single season, and yet you think he would somehow perform magic and score 30+ goals(something he has never done before) to outscore cr7 cr7 has 31goals in 33 games this season while Quad has 11goals in 24 games, so meaning you expect Quad to score 20goals in 9 games to catch cr7 abi.... Pls dont quote me again, I don't have time for this useless argument |
Baba4kinatu:Quagliarella would outscore cr7 again?? Wow... The hatred you messi fanboys have for cr7 is out of this world.. Ideally, I would reply this foolish statement with facts and follow up questions but I choose not to cuz I dont wanna waste my energy on you |
2loadedguy:Throughout the time when hazard was in epl, was there ever a time when he finished the season as the highest goal scorer?? |
FunkyAlhaji2015:But this same 38 years old player only scored 26goals na... |
