Rugaria: So because a few unknown internet trolls decided to tickle themselves with all sorts of threats again the Daurra Disaster, it has become enough excuse for rampaging ijiots on steroids to insult everything and everybody IPOB or pro Biafra? Can you even swear with your mothers grave that the original posters are IPOB members and not trolls injected in sundry forums by pro establishment actors to muddle the waters for diabolic reasons?
That is why I started by writing SOME OF THESE IPOB MEMBERS. Next time I write stuff, please endeavour to read the full stuff. It is exactly those sort of empowered members that are destroying things for IPOB. Simon Ekpa has started his own thread because of a leadership that seeks to empower ass-kissers rather than people who are cut out for the job.
Some of these IPOB members are serious half-wits. They couldn't kill Uzodinma with his two security men, it is Buhari with a battalion that you think you can kill.
A few days ago, multiple armoured tanks were brought into Imo state, which will obviously be deployed on the day Buhari visits, and these idiots are out here talking carelessly. Even if ESN has the wherewithal to get at Buhari physically, isn't it idiotic talking and writing about it openly on social media?
IPOB should just be satisfied with a solid sit-at-home. That will be a huge victory
chigator2: I don't know what concerns a distant Yoruba man with the happenings and politics of sister states, all once under the old eastern region.
It will interest you to note that the native language of the opobo people is Igbo language with dialectic differences as nuanced as anambra Igbo or ikwerre Igbo. This is far different from the case of Ijaws living in Yoruba but integrate with the culture. Rather the opobo people are relatively distanced from the core igbo states yet the identity and cultural heritage is preserved.
I have discerned the problem of the average Yoruba bigot. He ( bigot ) fears the rise of the old eastern region area in all ramifications most especially a united political front. This phobia is understandable because their little show organised and hosted in Lagos ( extrapolated to the rest of SW ) as a compensation from the Northern hijacked FG will come to an abrupt end/decline.
Cry on even more than the bereaved but do so at the risk of your own sanity.
The guy is an Ijaw man masquerading as a Yoruba person.
That is the way they act. Very spineless. He knows Igbos will come for him, hence his attempt to use Yoruba to shield himself, so that any insults from Igbos will be directed at Yorubas.
Liebermantic: All the Ancient documented History of Bonny and Opobo points to Igbo Origin.. Igbo people have a good case..Just after 1967, Prof Alagoa started rewriting their History with the Help of Nigerian government to deny Ndigbo ownership of these Islands.. If Nigeria is to divide along Ethnic lines,Igbos will take control of both towns and in extension,Some parts of Kalabari,Okrika and Brass
cc BKayy bobowaja
Here is yet another attachment from Dr. Balfour Baikie's book
BKayy: Jaja never said the word "Ijaw" in his entire life. He was notable for meandering through igbo land for Palm oil to export as he claimed that the settings were similar to his birth place Amaigbo. Chai, Afonjas read oh. Open books so that Ijaw will not sell you by covering your price in a pamflet
You also have to know that that guy is not Yoruba.
He is an Ijaw man masquerading as a Yoruba man, with the intention of avoiding any darts thrown at him by Igbo warriors, using the Yoruba disguise to help attract any darts towards the Yorubas.
bobowaja: Pls what are the book names that you picked the screenshot from? Or u mean to say the screenshot you created?
A verified screenshot should have a source.
I even did better, I took a screenshot that contains every information you wish to be aware of, about that book.
Let us hope I am not banned.
Some years ago when I wanted to show this page, some creek rat that must be one of the administrators, banned me for showing an evidence that counters all the Ijaw lies.
bobowaja: The issue of opobo and bonny people should be laid to rest. It belongs to the Ijaws.
First before you shout Yoruba awedu eating afonja, you should understand I am a full blooded Yoruba man. No need to remind me.
Secondly, I love history and I won't like seeing revisionists articles flying everywhere on the forum.
To the matter. I think ijaws are to be blamed for this flaw. They broke the first rule of survival which is self preservation.
There is something called acculturation in their culture. It is an act of baptizing of stranger into their folds. And in this case, pepple house, which was the ruling house.
Opobo was acculturised into Ijaw way of life and made to benefit from the house inheritance.
According to town culture, heritage is not by birthrights but by who is capable to rule the house. Jaja was capable, though there was a in-house civil war when he was made to rule the house, but he won decisively. This marks the beginning of his exploits.
The Ijaws followed him as their ruler. And during the palm oil boom (palm oil also known and red oil). Jaja has already taken control of the water ways and creeks for trading with the Europeans (his sagacity and business acumen can't be overruled). This sole act gave him some form of monopoly over the new trade in the creeks, he was the sole exporter to the UK in rivers while still maintaining holds on who trades what along the water ways with other European countries. He was wealthy so does the city he built from the ijaw followers.
This will later put him into trouble with the Queen, as the UK was so greedy to the extent that she wanted to trade directly with the merchants which they did after sentencing jaja to banishment in Accra (present day Ghana). Jaja himself was instrumental in conquering Ashanti forces (but let's not deviate from the topic).
The palm oil boom brought about large numbers of Igbo in the hinterlands into bonny (it must be corrected that though some were slaves but most Igbos that came during the oil boom were free born not slaves). They came with their cultures and way of lives in such numbers that threatened the indigenous people. Instead of ijaw to take control, they decided to hide some vital part of the community from them like languages etc... But this backfires as Igbo became the largest spoken language in the area in just matter of years (the indigenous people also adopted the language).
It should be noted that this is not the first time indigenous people will adopt other people's language, clothings, names and other cultural values. Example is Akoko Edo in present day Edo state. Most of the towns and villages are very fluent in Yoruba language, they adopted the Yoruba language and some part of cultures. Even some of their towns have Yoruba names, but they are not Yoruba - they are edoic group. Another example is ijaw in present day ondo state. Most of them speak Yoruba fluently and adopt the names, typical one is Omoyele Sowore.... He is an ijaw man who could be mistaken for a Yoruba man. Apart from those, there are some far Edo towns in etsako east local govt like okpella etc that have Yoruba names and also speak the language fluently, that doesn't make them Yoruba. The current ruling house in Ilorin all bears Yoruba name and speak Yoruba fluently, that doesn't make them Yoruba... They are Fulanis! The itsekiri adopted their clothings from Bini, that doesn't make them one.
The point I am trying to make here is that, people adopting your language, name and culture doesn't change them from who they were... Their identities will still remain intact as their genetical makeup.
Even an heavily biased igbodefender blog here admitted one truth which agreed to heavy migration of Igbo to the ijaw owned town.
To that boy that said he wanted to cry when he heard people speaking Igbo fluently in bonny, you have tears in your eyes. Language is for communication. If bonny is located in the north, they will speak Hausa fluently. In Southern Kaduna alone, there are more than 20 tribes. All of them speak Hausa but still retain their cultural identities.
I am done. You are opened to bash me, but make sure you bring evidences of opposing views. Insults alone won't do the trick.
We have shown you ancient documents by neutral observers that rightly showed that Igbos were the first settlers in UBANI, and you are here quoting something from some recent newspapers.
Besk: Yours is probably one of the daftest ever comments one has read on Nairaland.
Now that the sh.t has hit the delinking, you’re trying to comfort yourself with some statements that have no data to back them up. Who told you that South-Easterners account for the most collection of VAT in those states? Do you even know the definition of VAT? How many traders in Alaba, Oyingbo, etc, pay/remit VAT on sales? Stop being dumb!
As per your so-called Oseakwa and Obiaku, do they just dredge rivers that lead nowhere? You just think they should dredge up a river and that’s it? Even if they dredge it from now till the next 50 years, how would cargo ships get there? Through what route? By coming through Benin-Ore Road?
You must smell the coffee. If Nigeria splits today like some of you Igbos want, economically, it’s going to be hell for that region. Where are you going to get the resources?
This data should be a big eye-opener for you. Your spare-parts traders & other traders earn most of their income from outside your region. Imagine when they now have further restrictions in terms of visas, residence permits, business permits, etc, trust me, the SouthEast will find it tough.
Be careful what you wish for because you might just get it.
If it was about dredging a river, I would have mentioned Onitsha. It's obvious you lack knowledge of the Igbo maritime prospects. Justice Mamman Nasir failed to add Oseakwa to Rivers state and Obuaku to Akwaibom state. So these two areas will even make more ideal seaports than most Nigerian seaports as they are protected from the temperaments of the open ocean. I know this must be very painful for you. God has a way of shielding Igbos.
If Nigeria breaks up, fyi Igboland has more than 90% of Nigeria's gas reserves and more than 50% of inland oil reserves, so Igbos will be sitting pretty economically. Igboland can be evacuating it's inland oil and gas resources for export through our Ubani/Bonny oil terminal.
I so want Soludo to take over in Anambra state, as I believe he has the economic foresight to help put some of these critical economic assets in place
Ngorbungor: Do they think it's only Yoruba's that are responsible for the 51% VAT Lagos recorded?
They are not serious, I really like how the VAT thing is going, it will really help other state to sit tight and think outside the box, do you know that the number of banks inside Onitsha main market alone is more than the total number of banks in state capital like Lokoja, Ado-Ekiti,, markudi etc.
So the problem is tax collection, because the revenue is there and going into wrong pockets
Nnaa see me, see me trouble.
They think it was just Yorubas that generated that 51% VAT Lagos recorded. I had to make them snap out of it.
Lagos/Ogun IGR are heavily influenced by Igbo business activities.
Felimax: Ibos are better off in a foreign land, that is where they do their best, it's more like a curse to them. Every ibo man has the mentality of i am a king myself hence they can't have a unifying voice but if you check out where they do so well you will find out it's in another man's land. As i am talking to you a lot of Ibos are still flocking the West on a daily basis. Yes, it's a fact that Ibos contribute the vast of tax payers but in another man's land, what do you expect?
That is what marginalisation of Igbos has brought. There is no noticeable federal presence in Igboland, as you have in Lagos, Abuja and Kano.
Oseakwa and Obuaku seaports will help increase the economic prospects of Igboland, but all the non-Igbo presidents of Nigeria, have a made it their number one policy, to frustrate initiatives, geared towards uplifting the Igbo economic prospects.
That is why some Igbos are clamouring for a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction, so that these amenities could be put in place in Igboland to lift the economic life there. Some are clamouring for Biafra for the same reason, as they are tired of the perennial marginalisation that has gone on, for many decades now.
LegendHero: Can you defend this Shukudi Bureau of Statistics you just quoted? If you’re sure of your claims, can you open a thread and let’s debate this together? If you runaway with your tail between your legs like Ojuku then you’re a coward.
Below is how Lagos get her revenue:
PAYE (45%): Pay As You Earn (PAYE) is a form of personal income tax that refers to tax deducted directly from the wages and salaries of employees operating in the formal sector.
Other Taxes (19.27%): These include various taxe such as levies on market traders, land registration and other landrelated fees, as well as development levies on individuals, pool betting/lottery/gaming fees and stamp duties on individuals.
Direct Assessment (2.39%): Direct assessment relates to those taxes imposed on businesses, especially (informal) by the State authorities, based on the size of their activities.
Road Tax (2.48%): Road taxes are daily levies paid by commercial transporters operating within Lagos.
Based on the above: You should apologize ASAP for giving ridiculous statistics about the your tiny landlocked poor states that can’t even match up to Kaduna. Stop meddling into things you don't understand. The Igbo 2by 2 shops are not what is generating tax for the Lagos government. What the Banks, Insurance, Mega-corporations, Dangote, and etc. generates alone for Lagos is more than what those 2by2 shops will generate for 500 years!
Nwokem, stop parading your foolishness for all to see.
Igbos are obviously huge employers in Lagos, from the various markets, super markets and blue-chip companies, car dealerships, film industry e.t.c. so Igbos account for more than their fair share of the PAYE contribution.
Now taxes on levies and market traders, land registration e.t.c are heavily paid by Igbos in Lagos, and you know that.
Igbos are not also doing too badly in terms of road taxes.
So all the stuff you showed have huge Igbo representation. You have only just helped me in confirming the 50% IGR Igbos contribute to Lagos.
And the funny thing is that about half of the Lagos IGR is being provided by SEners, and about 70% of Rivers state IGR is being provided by SEners also.
Proper economic planning and the installation of seaports at Oseakwa in Anambra and Obuaku in Abia, will quadruple the IGR of the SE states.
Adding Igbo areas in the SS stretching from Obigbo, to Opobo and Ubani, to Ogwashiuku to the SE will further help the Igbo economy.
Igbos will automatically be bestowed with the title of states with the largest IGRs
BafanaBafana: That's bad of him to say. But one difference between Igbos and northerners is the way they celebrate evil. If boko haram kills anyone, you see Igbos online celebrating, if bandits kill, they celebrate, if ESN kill security men, they celebrate. You will never see s northerner siding or jubilating at the gains of terrorists (Quote me with evidence if I'm wrong). Imagine Ohaneze defending someone like Kanu! Tueh! This attitude makes them repungent to other people, and they justify their actions by always pointing to others.
But Pantami was recorded, rejoicing at the killings carried out by his terrorist sponsors namely Alqaeda and ISIS.
Pantami is a northerner. Now Bulkachawa has started his madness. Obviously Fulanis are feeling the anti-open grazing pressure, and are beginning to indirectly blame Ndigbo for their foolishness
NGpatriot: Obviously at the moment, the terrorists are in charge since they are able to issue orders and enforce the same orders across the whole of the SE.
The terrorist order shuts down legitimate businesses, traffic and commerce including banks the civil service while the legitimate and elected governors that the people put in office to manage their affairs look the other way, they are in effect hopeless, powerless and redundant, they are basically collecting free money in form of salaries for doing nothing.
This is total abdication of duty.
Very sad.
No one put Uzodinma in Imo state Ikonso government house.
His Fulani terrorist allies put him there. He can appeal to Buhari and the Sharia chief justice to bail him out.
oyatz: This is not about the war canoe houses and the question he asked.
Your line of defence is similar to Chief Jim Nwobodo declaring before the PDP delegates at the 1999 Jos Convention that he himself is also a Northerner and he gave his speech in Hausa Language.
So what question was he answering?
Did you also recognize the significance of the men wearing Igbo traditional hat, in that boat in readiness for the oat regatta competition?
oyatz: RobbStark asked a simple question that you should name the War Canoes houses of Opobo that are Igbos but you are saying what's unrelated.
I want you to access this YouTube video. Start to watch from 5:30, as I need you to observe the Ijaw fedora hats those canoe people are wearing. Now from 6:00, listen to the interviewee mention some of the participants in the Opobo boat regatta competition, which includes OJEZULIGBO, OKWUEME,. OBIEFULE e.t.c
Since you already know all these, why all these threads upon threads trying to prove that Opobo ,Bonny and recently Kalabari are Igbos? Why aren't we seeing threads upon threads to prove that Owerri, Nnsuka or Aba are Igbo cities?
Opobo and Ubani are Igbo settlements.
Kalabari people are claiming they are not Ijaws. I know the Kalabari ruling family has Igbo ancestry, but I won't go as far as saying they are Igbos. Definitely they have Igbo blood, and may even have more Igbo blood than Ijaw blood in them.
The day you come to claim Owerri as an Ijaw territory, writings on Owerri will sprout from right left and centre
RobbStark: Who happen to be in the political space. Hahahaha. Dakuku didn't even win in his ward talk more of being a gov. After saying that he was Ibo, later went to Ogoni and told them that his mother was Ogoni, did he smell gov house. Those are political talks to deceive you gullible miscreants here in this forum.
Continue Today is a new day, no new thread about bonny n Opobo??
I want to learn more bra
So he said he mother is Ogoni.
At least he didn't say Opobo people are Ogoni people. He rightly claimed Opobo people are Igbos.
Thanks to Dr. Baikie and other early Europeans who made sure to write down the Igbo origins of Ubani.
