If Igbo Republic tries to invade Ijaw Republic in it's attempt to gain coastal territories, think of the possible superior advantages that both sides may have.

Igbos will definitely take back Ubani and Opobo, if the inhabitants wish it. No doubt Ijaws had a free hand in intimidating Igbos of Rivers state with the help of Fulanis, at the end of th civil war and have made aggressive attempts at Ijawnizing some Igbo areas.

But it will be in Ijaw people's interest to hands off Ubani, if Igbos come to claim it, because both Ubani and Opobo are among the very few outlets Igbos have to the open ocean. Resistance from Ijaw may result in Ijaws loosing core Ijaw territories, not previously contested and will expose long buried animosities like the abandoned properties issue and Boro's treachery. Ijaws already have hundreds of miles of coastline, and the few Igbos have, will not be ceded to anybody, otherwise Ijaws will loose large expanses of territories, just the same way Palestinians and other Arabs lost territories to Israel after the many confrontations they had with Israel.

Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe ,the most illustrous Onitsha Indigene, in his book 'My Oddessey' clearly traced his genealogy (based on oral history from his grandmother) to the first king of Onitsha and he said he was Bini Royalty.

Ziik was a politician, not a traditional ruler or the official custodian of Onitsha culture.

The Obi of Onitsha has made it clear several times that Onitsha people are core Igbos. His account should be more believable.

There are no last two words. Osadebe added the MA, to make it a complete Igbo expression, hence ANIOMA, otherwise it would have been ANIO, which makes no sense in Igbo.

Till today Benin still makes use of the Nri-Igbo market days, as a visible evidence of past links between the two civilisations.

Also until about 55 years ago, Nri-Igbos crowned every Obi of Onitsha. So NRI has all these areas covered. No revisionism can alter it.

Ndoki is just a dialect of Igbo. Everything an Ndoki man says in Ndoki dialect, every Igbo man understands.

It doesn't really end here. The biggest political juggernaut in Opobo thinks he is Igbo. What this means is that elements of Opobo high and mighty in both the traditional and political leadership recognize their Igbo ancestry. You may have heard of Ifeanyi Ubah. His surname basically means richness or wealth or large expanse.

First of all, the book was written by an English slave trader. He had no attachment to the Igbo race and the captain came from Liverpool.

For your second point, we all know that Dakuku Peterside is by far, the most prominent Opobo politician. Just a few years ago, he had this to say in a gathering.

In a shocking revelation, the member representing Opobo-Nkoro Federal constituency Hon. Dakuku Peterside declared that the Opobo people have their roots in Igboland as the founder and first king of the Kingdom is an Igbo man. Hence Opobos are Igbo. He called on other Igbo elements within the state to identify with the greater Igbo cause.
