Christianity EtcRe: Is Fornication And Adultery No Longer A Sin? by ogajim(m): 1:14pm On Sep 05, 2011
@OP

Both adultery and fornication are SINS even if you only thought about it let alone you actually carry it out, I am sorry to say those ladies in your "experiences" have lots of work to do, are you sure you're not enticing them with money or other material stuff?

I know things are hard in naija so that might explain their little "side hustle"afterall, most of the pastors over there have their own little "hustle" as well.

Azibalua appears to be Pastor JoAgbaje's feminine side,

I haven't witnessed the highest denomination fraud in person but I have seen the "God told me some people will bless the Church with $5,000, $2,000. $1,000, $500, etc " SCAM by a "visiting Pastor/minister"

Only God can and will save us from the fake "mogs" masquerading as true Shepherds.

Dude, get a grip, I am not making excuses for no one just stating the FACTS as I see them, I don't know what you stand to gain from cursing a dead person, I remember enough about my culture not to do that.

God remains the ultimate judge, go to Ota and deal with the devil there who's still alive instead of chasing shadows, typical Nigerians treat the dead as meat, each and everyone of us ("rich or poor"winkmust give account of their stewardship .

If you actually know the Nigerian armed forces well, you will know there are Generals in all service branches with the same last name so you might see another one of them again LOL grin

Christianity EtcRe: Another Poll! - Who Is Robbing God? by ogajim(m): 3:52pm On Sep 01, 2011
The term "robbing God" came from the old practice of some Priests saving the BEST parts of Temple offerings/tithes for themselves and instead offering unbefitting goods on the altar unto the Lord.

Giving to Church in modern times and neglecting one's family for instance can't be giving can it? We have to give from the HEART to whomever we chose to give to and not restricted to a "Church" or building.

Any retired Military officer can be recalled to active duty by the COAS or C in C if it is warranted, you don't get your full benefits as a retired General for nothing,

Only reason I brought Diya in is to reinforce the fact that most people don't look back after being part of decisions made in the past unless they have an agenda. Decisions of the SMC/AFRC are collective decisions though some people's opinion might carry more weight.

Rubbish!

You have a Military Supreme council and there are individuals that carry weight there even if the commander has far more.

So you are saying it is OK he followed orders that destroyed lives? Whilst enriching himself? And Ukiwe was a fool?

So loads of people against Abacha were dropping dead, no investigation was done and those praise-singing him were buying new cars and houses and you are requesting for a recording of Abacha giving instructions of killings?
It shows you really don't know how the Military works or intended to work, you can be sent to a court-martial for refusal to follow direct orders, I don't know that you have ever seen a Ship with two captains, if you've ever been on a Naval Ship/vessel, you'll have a better understanding.

There were other "issues" going on with Ukiwe if you know Nigerian history because he was actually SENIOR to everyone in that Government with Bali the only probable exception. You can see why he wouldn't want to be there knowing how much power Idiagbon wielded and him being sort of "disrespected",

Folks need to research before commenting sometimes! angry

I've read of the Adelaja guy in Ukraine and the fact that there were some "issues/controversies" surrounding him recently too. I don't believe he is "affiliated" with any of the leading "Nigerian ministries" though but what do I know?

I will be sure to see for myself if I ever find myself close by there because all the Nigerian Churches I've visited here in the US, UK, Germany, etc are purely Nigerian Churches fitting my original description.

Share more information with us if you have them as we can't see everything and not claiming to.

It is not uncommon for one to hear Nigerian Churches make claims about "spreading the Gospel/good news" to Western nations, the point I want us to discuss amicably is how true are those claims really are.

I have never been to a Nigerian Church where 95% (at a minimum) of the worshipers aren't Nigerians or children of Nigerians with the other 5% accounting for spouses, co-workers, or friends of Nigerians.

Why aren't they trying to convert folks in China, Eastern Europe, or the Muslim World?

@Sagamite, There is no joint decision in the military, if you're the commander, you lead and others from your 2IC down FOLLOW your ORDER, Last time I checked, you didn't have any right to challenge your commander's order, Ukiwe(at that time actually the most senior officer in Nigeria) was humiliated out of office and service by IBB for that very reason in 1986.

You all blame Abacha for all the killings that happened during his regime but now want IBB's government to be a group effort, you can't have it both ways, I forgot, Abacha is dead! Though no one has come forward with any proof that Abacha knew everything that went on or signed off on everyone that was killed.

I used to think it was NIGERIAN not to speak ill of the dead but I guess I am WRONG.

If you were in Nigerian or old enough to see for your self during the IBB years, there was no mistake who was in charge or who called the shots, if you are now going to blame a dead guy for not disassociating himself from a military decision, you must not be aware of military guidelines and principles.

Was AAA the only other member of AFRC? I do remember him being succeeded as the chief of Naval staff by Patrick "woman wrapper"Koshoni (hip hip OLE was the shout from Naval officers and ratings at his pulling out parade), why are some of these venom not being directed at those of them that are still alive instead of insulting the dead?

How do you know what every church is doing? besides the church s not a charity organisation. The primary calling of the church is the preaching of the gospel. yet many churches still go out of their way to reach out to the less priviledge and supporting them. you dont know what every church is doing. everything is not publicised.
Pastor JoAgbaje is in NEED of REPENTANCE for the highlighted portion above, I concur with Kunle that for you to be a pastor (NL parish?) and still utter those nonsensical words, we need to pray for you and your congregation(maybe your Church in it's entirety).

Jesus Christ was ALL ABOUT THE POOR and downtrodden but not these "modern church of Nigeria & America ltd, PLC, LLC, etc" I really feel sorry for the average Nigerian both home and abroad that give their hard earned money to these scammers, The Catholics are way ahead of these modern business centers parading in the name of Church these days, Fela said this a long time ago, they made him look like a fool for speaking the truth when he was actually ahead of his time.

Christianity EtcEnd Times Indeed, Pastor Found Dead In Hotel Room. by ogajim(op): 2:15pm On Aug 17, 2011
The Florida megachurch leader who was discovered dead in his Times Square hotel room on Friday was in New York for a speaking engagement and meetings, an Orlando-area congresswoman said Tuesday.

Rep. Corrine Brown said the Rev. Zachery Tims Jr. was "preparing" to preach in the New York area last week but she didn't know where he had planned to speak or whom he had met in the city. She said Mr. Tims had also traveled to California, Chicago and Tampa, Fla., in recent weeks for meetings and appearances.

He was scheduled to fly to Texas on Thursday, authorities said.

"He was always speaking somewhere, that is not very unusual at all," said Ms. Brown, who said she regularly attended his services. "He was very much in demand."

Mr. Tims, 42 years old, was found dead in his hotel room Friday with a plastic envelope containing a white powdery substance police believed to be narcotics, authorities have said. An autopsy was inconclusive, and authorities are awaiting the results of toxicology tests.

New York City police declined to comment further Tuesday. Mr. Tims's family couldn't be reached for comment.

Mr. Tims, who battled drug addiction as a teenager, gained fame through a memoir on his struggles and frequent television and speaking appearances across the country. His Apopka church, the New Destiny Christian Center, said it has more than 8,000 members.

"A lot of people preach, but it was like he would fly," Ms. Brown said. "It felt like he was speaking directly to you."

Thousands gathered to mourn Mr. Tims at his church in Apopka, on Monday night. A wake and public viewing was scheduled for Friday, with Mr. Tims's funeral the following day.

Some voiced concern over the church's future without its charismatic leader.

"I hope they will be able to survive this kind of damage," said Fred Brummer, a commissioner in Orange County, Fla.

I dont like arguing or reasoning with fools but it is like nairaland has given some unwise folks who are not ready to learn the opportunity to disguise as if they have anything to offer, thereby wasting the precious times of intelligent and God-fearing nairalanders. What does this mean to you: "people who are informed already know this - Budgeting lies at the foundation of every financial plan"? I noted from the start that "A Budget is part of a Financial Plan, and it is hard to see the substance of teaching only one aspect" - as if that is not clear enough, I also remarked that "budgeting is involved in finances".

You talk as if you exclude budgeting altogether from teaching finances - which was why I said it would make no sense if that were the case.

You would not be involving budgeting at all while teaching finances - is that it? Isn't that plain silly?

Nobody is asking for classes, which makes one wonder at all that you would go there - sounds like you're advertizng your retired CV for a job nobody wants! grin

The complications arise when you magically imagine that budgeting is not compatible with tithing.

I am not sure sure that looking "smart" while trying to make everyone else around look "stupid" is a Christian value after all, much like a "star" player (we're talking about practice wink ) who doesn't make his team mates better.
