Guy you're the ABSOLUTE dullard here, juxtapose the time they spent in the office with the percentage increment in dollar rate then you know Tinubu is totally archaic and ill-prepared to rule, with slogans like "Emi lokan and na statistics we go chop?" Business › Nigeria’s Inflation Hits 29.9% In January 2024 by ogaontop(op): 1:05pm On Feb 15, 2024 |
Nigeria’s inflation rate for January 2024 rose to 29.90% from 28.92% recorded in the previous month according to the latest National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) inflation report.
The increase shows that the inflation rate in the country is yet to slow down.
The NBS report notes:
“In January 2024, the headline inflation rate increased to 29.90% relative to the December 2023 headline inflation rate which was 28.92%. Looking at the movement, the January 2024 headline inflation rate showed an increase of 0.98% points when compared to the December 2023 headline inflation rate. Similarly, on a year-on-year basis, the headline inflation rate was 8.08% points higher compared to the rate recorded in January 2023, which was 21.82%.”
“This shows that the headline inflation rate (year-on-year basis) increased in January 2024 when compared to the same month in the preceding year (i.e., January 2023). Furthermore, on a month-on-month basis, the headline inflation rate in January 2024 was 2.64%, which was 0.35% higher than the rate recorded in December 2023 (2.29%). “This means that in January 2024, the rate of increase in the average price level is more than the rate of increase in the average price level in December 2023.” https://nairametrics.com/2024/02/15/nigerias-inflation-hits-29-90-in-january-2024/

Watianoengineer: For those blaming APC and president Tinubu for the hardship in the country, are you all aware that UK and Japan are currently in economic recession? Is it APC and Tinubu that is ruling both nations? Nobody should blame APC and Tinubu for the rot the PDP government of Jonathan caused. What we are suffering today is the result of the Jonathan government's recklessness. Peter Obi and his PDP gang brought Nigeria to her knees. May God help our dear president Tinubu to fix the country like he did in Lagos. What's their minimum wage and what's ours? |

Bro even at your level, you should know that no sane government will fully deregulate and fully float the currency at the same time knowing that both will have unbearable effects on the economy! Statistically ( but no be statistics we go chop), the countries that took away subsidy did it in phases, within a 5 to 10-year plan and today they are totally off subsidy without any untold hardship on the citizens There are so many ways to do this better which I can't even start listing here. When you say what Tinubu did is the best way, you're exposing your ignorance to the right-thinking people!! Have you taken your time to look at @PO's full explanatory manifesto(anyway I doubt if you have access) on his plans toward fuel subsidy and compare it with how some other countries successfully took away subsidies without all this backlash? If time reverses, Tinubu will handle this better, but it's an infraction he has no clue how to handle from the onset!! |

Osimhen does so for the sake of passion and patriotism for the country, not what he does always. Check his performance during qualifiers, not his regular thing! |

They know the consequences of playing that sort of game , it breeds fatigue and injuries ... That's how Didier Drogba plays both in Club and Country and hardly gets injured, in fact he's hardly on the bench. Didier Drogba is Osimhen's idol, he has repeatedly acknowledged that! |

We don’t have option than to buy naija made now. If you get sense, try to grow what you will eat in your backyard. If you have enough and want to become rich, go into extensive farming (according to your pocket). Which "Naija made"?, When foreign companies are leaving the country and local ones are folding up? Go and price those your Naija made and come back. When the price of fuel, diesel and raw materials are skyrocketing everyday, how do you sustain production? Even the local foods we eat are no longer affordable and you're talking of naija made, the whole economy is in disarray!Learn a simple economics and know the direct impact of these policies before defending this "heartless" government. |

They can't even wait for the spike to settle, they rushed and increase the clearance exchange rate! This will definitely impact prices with around 50% upward. What happens if the dollar price reduces and people have cleared their goods to sell at high prices? Is it now impossible for the dollar to go below 1,356?? These guys are very mean and heartless!! |

BreconHills: You are inferring something I have not said. Saying the confab is not constitutional does not amount to the El Rufais committee report being constitutional.
What I am saying is that the representativeness of the confab is wasted as the only way to achieve a change is through the political process which is why the matter is a party matter not a government matter. The difference is subtle but important. Different members of the confab committee are not just PDP members and they are more diverse than the El Rufai's committee because it's like a National dialogue drawn from all the geopolitical zones of the country! The only thing I can agree here is that governments should make such discussions and subsequent implementation a constitutionally backed national dialogue rather than a political party affair!! |
