Been using mine for like 3 months now, very sweet car, fast, comfortable, fun to drive. Can't say much about its reliability since its just been 3 months but its a Honda so I don't expect anything less. Before this I've used 3 different Hondas so I know what to expect. Fuel economy is not bad considering its a V6, its almost same as 05 Honda accord EOD v6. Car is in stock state, not tropicalized, no abuse done, no check engine, no abs or vsc lights on. I had a failed downstream 02 sensor bank 1 after 1 month of use which drastically affected fuel economy. After changing the 02 sensor fuel economy went back to normal.

Can this prevented by regular maintenance or its a sure failure regardless of any measure taken to mitigate it.

That's a good engine but again, depends on the specific car you are looking at. As long as nothing wrong with it when you buy it and you maintain, should get good life out of it. Yes, little electrical issues with Windows and sunroof if I recall but I'll take my chances for that car. It's a good premium: cost ratio.

Thanks a lot. I dont think i have issues with window or sunroof faults. I hope to get a clean foreign used one or go to cotonou myself (of course with a mechanic/someone who knows the grounds). I am also willing to take my chances. I am looking at getting the 2007 Acura TL 3.2L or the type S with a 3.5L engine.

Personally i like the car. Reliable, decent fuel though there are better, some premium features, maintenance shouldn't be expensive. Just don't know about availability of parts here historically. It boils down to the specific car you are being offered. Get it thoroughly inspected and you should be fine.

Thanks a lot. Whats your take on its transmission as it came up intermittently in the reviews i read. Besides, one of my bosses at work had it at a time ( dont know the year though } and complained of its many electrical issues. Though, i didnt ask him of his maintenance culture and how he purchases replacement parts. But i like the interior, its the closest you can get in comparison to a benz, bmw or lexus in terms of aesthetics.

You see that portion of road from Lokoja to Abaji and there about; that is the most scary part of journeying along that road. My advice to everyone is to avoid those ridges, contours and defects by driving slowly or by driving along the edge of the road. It will slow you down but it's safer. My heart is always in my chest when I am moving along that road.

This lawmaker is a clown. He had been travelling along that road for a while but felt this is the time to act because of what happened to him. Imagine the lives that have been been lost along that road. Infact, there is no time you will pass through that road and you won't see an accident, a recently burnt vehicle or a badly damaged vehicle cos of the road.

Reliability both vehicles will be OK for every day knock around but the Acura has a more rating than the Benz

Performance it is known that the suspension setup in the C300 and C350 is softer than the Acura. The Benz is a tad smaller than the Acura in terms of road feel and stability I give it to the Benz but power And authority the Acura takes it all

Practicality both vehicles are good but part replacement won't be cheap but the Acura shares part with a host of Honda products. Benz parts don't break easily. The Acura has more room in its engine bay repairs and diy would be easier on it

Fuel economy the C230 and 240 are great in mpg compared to the Acura but the c280 isn't

Endurance both vehicles have solid build but will be better to give to a qualified technician for repairs as replacement parts are expensive and they work hand in hand. What you want to say is flexibility the Acura is more flexible in managing till you get to a garage. Both are well loaded with warning signs and Guage to forestall been stranded

Verdict the Acura is the preferred choice due to been a tokunbo, more luxurious out of the factory fits your dual purpose people mover and sports car

Apologies for my digression. I am also a Mercedes Benz enthusiast. I am trying to make a choice between a 2005 mercedes benz c230 or c240 and a 2007 Acura TL Type S like HeavenlyBang advised.

Don't buy a 05/06. They had issues with their auto transmissions. 2007+ is fine, though.

The 2007 TL is an excellent car, bonus points if you get a Type S. Enough luxury, performance, and reliability. Power train will easily get to 300K miles without any issues, and the interior build quality will not fall apart--two statements I can't make about the C230.

But sorry ,one more thing. Going through online reviews, one common problem associated with the TL is the transmission failure issue. Whats your take on this? And how much do you think i should budget for this vehicle thanks.
