I went for a friend's wedding. At the reception, just as the bride and groom are ushered in, I (ever the shrewd one) realized there was something off and not right somewhere. It took me awhile to notice what was amiss. Alas! There was no music playing! The bride and groom, the train and asoebi men and women were just shuffling in awkwardly. It was really weird! I think they forget to get a DJ or something. There was no music throughout the reception. It didn't end there. It is very common to see on nairaland comments like 'how does this affect the price of garri in the market'. Finally, an issue as come up that has actually affected the price of garri. The recent flooding in Nigeria has washed away farm produce worth hundreds of millions of naira. If without the flood a cup of beans went for #100, how much more now? Only God will help this country in the coming months. Especially with our lack of preservative culture.
A rubber of garri prior to this period went for #250- #300. But currently especially in cities like Warri and Bayelsa, a rubber of garri sells for #1000 -#1700. Where are we going to in this nation!!!
