DON'T be a sucker — put your money on Spain to win the World Cup. Why? Because psychic octopus Paul has backed the conquerors of his beloved Germany to overcome Holland in Sunday's showpiece final. The eight-legged mystic has a 100 per cent record during this summer's tournament, having successfully called all the results for his side. Paul, from the Sea Life Aquarium in Oberhausen, chooses his winners ahead of matches by plucking a mussel from one of two boxes with each country's flag on. With Spain having defeated Germany in the semi-final, Paul's powers have been called upon to predict a match that does not feature his home country. And he has returned a verdict that will be applauded from Barcelona to Madrid, with Iker Casillas backed to lift the trophy in Johannesburg. To me, marriage vows are not difficult to uphold, at least from personal experience. However, it is seemingly difficult to uphold because a lot of people go into marriages with little or no knowledge of what they are about to go into. Some married people have failed to draw the line between bachelorhood/spinsterhood and their present status. This is where the challenges start from. There MUST a clear demarcation in all ramifications, including the company one keeps because it starts from there. It almost ruined my marriage when i married newly. I had some football granitic friends that i could just part with. I would abandon my wife at home to watch matches with my friends outside, whereas same matches were shown live in our satellite TV at home. It got to a point when my friends started introducing me to some daughters of Eve, it was at that point that i had to take a decision to withdraw from them and save my marriage. So, is all about knowing what one is going into and knowing when to draw the line. |

THE new leadership of the executive board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) yesterday wielded its big stick as the two wives of the impeached former president Sani Lulu Abdulahi were dropped from the list of NFF delegates to the FIFA U-20 female World Cup in Germany. Sani Lulu 's wives, Salamatu and Fatima Abdulahi, who just returned from South Africa as part of the NFF delegation, The Guardian gathered were among the five people dropped, chairman of the technical committee, Taiwo Ogunjobi, was also dropped by the NFF from the list that travelled for the female World Cup, which kicks off July 13. When asked about the reduction in the number of NFF delegates for the female championship, yesterday in Abuja, Peter Singabele stated that the board took the decision because the board was working according to the fund available to it. “The fact that the number of delegates has been reduced is obviously caused by the fund available for the NFF to prosecute the championship in Germany. “We have to concentrate more on the preparation of the team for a good outing in Germany rather than take many people to Germany at this point in time,” sated Singabele, who assured of equal treatment to all workers of the NFF. The Falconet, which departed Nigeria yesterday under the leadership of NFF Female Football Development Committee Chairman, Princess Bola Jegede, would play against England on July 14 in Group C, which also has Mexico and Japan. |

mendomp:. What happens if the second (new) wife does same? ![]() Walking away from any troubled situation has never and will never be the best option. I think he has to go deep into this matter, find out ONLY the truth from his wife. From there, he can weigh his options and take a decision. Any decision taken now won't be the best. |
Imagine Zanetti played right full back against Germany in place of disastrous Nicolas Otamendi? But sha, Messi has a point. |

Lionel Messi says he is amazed Fabio Capello left Theo Walcott out of the England squad and believes he could have made the difference against Germany and Algeria. Theo Walcott, Lionel Messi GettyImagesBarcelona players identified Theo Walcott as a key threat Walcott's omission from the final 23-man squad came as a major surprise and, as England struggled to find a cutting edge in South Africa, Messi feels having the Arsenal attacker on the bench would have proved a major advantage for England. "I must say that at the time I thought it was a bad decision to leave Theo Walcott at home, and I think that has been proved right," he said in the Star. "I can only speak from experience but he was one of the most dangerous players I have ever played against." During last season's Champions League quarter-final at Emirates Stadium, Walcott came on as a substitute as Arsenal trailed Barcelona 2-0. His goal sparked a comeback that led to a 2-2 draw in the first leg, and Messi says his team-mates identified him as a key threat for the return. "Barcelona players are not scared easily but I can tell you that when we played Arsenal last season he truly worried us," he said. "When we were playing Arsenal at the Emirates, we were so in control of the game at 2-0 - with all respect, Arsenal were not even in the game - then Theo came on and changed the game. He pretty much single-handedly salvaged a draw against Barcelona that night. "Even in the return leg, our manager Pep Guardiola was telling us he was the player to watch out for, and the best players in the world like Xavi and Gerard Pique were telling us to watch out for him. The truth is that he really rattled him. "If he could do that against Barcelona, think what he could have done against Germany and Algeria. Even if he didn't start, he would still have been very important for England. "Along with Cesc Fabregas and Sergio Aguero, he would have been the best impact player at the World Cup." |
Princek12:. Nobody wants to deliberately kill the person with an ailment instead of treating the ailment. The truth, Nigerians are tired of watching people ruin our football through their selfish interests. Me, am not in support of this ban but i have everything against those useless and good for nothing NFF officials. They are the architects of our downward football. So many of them have no idea what management of football entails. I feel the annoyance of people supporting President Jonathan and i sympathize with them greatly. To them, any decision to get those guys out will just be fine. But am sure, he will reconsider his stance. |
@Olaolufred. The NFF cannot reorganize itself. But again FIFA rule does not allow any government to scrap any FA. The move by Presido would have been to use EFCC and ICPC to nail these officials in NFF and bring in fresh and vibrant people to reorganize the whole body. Honestly, the whole thing is not funny my guy. The REAL problem is FIFA's rule this and that ![]() |
You don't throw away the baby with the birth water, cutting off the head is not the cure for headache. I can bet you if the ban sails through, nothing and I repeat absolutely nothing will be done to improve sports in this country. Instead of curing the disease our doctor president is trying to cure the symptoms. Have we all forgotten that our football started going down after Abacha banned our team from the nations cup then in 1996. By the Grace of God, this man's hidden agenda to succeed himself will fail woefully.

. Nice contribution. The NFF should have been reorganized and not an outright ban on our national teams. It will sure spell doom for our football. |
@ Princek12 By calling people who are merely expressing their views fools, u have only betrayed your immaturity and childish attitude. People like u have no biz on nairaland. Nairaland is a place for matured, decent and intelligent people. Rubbish. |
The most annoying thing was that; my younger brother in South Africa told me that super eagles players went partying and clubbing after that horrible. There match with South Korea. ![]() There was no element of remorse in them at all. ![]() |
Sometimes i find it laughable when FIFA says government should not interfere in football matters. That can happen in developed countries where the FAs are financially independent. Nigerian government sponsors our FA and football100%. So, how will u expect the government not to interfere and intervene? U mean the government should fold its hands and watch some idiots ruin our game and empty the treasury all in the name of FIFA's rule of this and that? . Long hisssssssssssssssssssssSomebody, please educate me on this oooooooooooooooooooooo ![]() |
where are you guys finding these women huh??
