Siasia has not established himself at the senior level yet, am totally surprised and disappointed with what he is asking for. He has only managed junior categories which cannot be used to measure his performance as a coach. I advise him to reduce what he is asking for and make a name for himself. If he loses this opportunity to show the world what he is capable of doing, it will be disastrous for him. A word is enough for the wise ![]() |

Lagos Gives Okada Riders Fresh Ultimatum Author: Date: Aug 11th, 2010. | Category: Metro, News. | Follow comments: RSS 2.0. | You can leave a response below. | The Lagos State Government in South-West Nigeria, has issued a fresh 21-day ultimatum to commercial motorcycle operators, also known as okada riders to stop plying the state’s highways or face the music. Gov. Babatunde Raji Fashola. With the new ultimatum, which takes effect from 1 September, okada riders are not expected to ply Third Mainland Bridge, Ikorodu Road, Victoria Island, the entire Lagos Island Business Districts, among others. In order to ensure that no one raises eyebrow when the enforcement would start in full force, the state government has kicked off sensitisation campaign to warn okada riders to stay off the restricted highways. At the official opening of the campaign, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele said that the present decision by the state government was as a result of the frequent outcry by Lagosians because of the high rate of accidents among the motorcycle operators. Bamidele said that the constitution does not recognise motorcycle as a means of transportation but that for the time being, the state government had resolved to scrutinize their operations rather than place an outright ban on them. “You know of BRT, you know of LAGBUS, you know about other transportation systems and, of course, you know about the steps being taken by the government to ensure that the rail system works and also in trying to ensure that the water transportation system is effective in the state. “As we confront issues of public transportation both in respect to transportation by air, rail, water and by road, we have to manage the activities of okada riders to see how best to protect lives and property in the process. Government has decided to be proactive in ensuring that both the okada riders and the public are familiar with its thinking and its philosophy in that regard,” he said. Bamidele disclosed that part of the sensitisation campaign is a road show which would take law enforcement officials round major parts of the city of Lagos by mobile billboard vehicles operated by WOW Mobile Billboard Company, led by Mr. Tokunbo Odebunmi. He added that the essence was for members of the public to appreciate the resolve of government to enlist the support of members of the public to join the campaign to save lives by ensuring compliance. Bamidele, however, solicited for maximum understanding between the motorcyclists and other road users to ensure adequate compliance with the new regulation as the fine against violation would include both. Recognising that these regulations might discourage some riders from the business, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Mr. Kayode Opeifa advised that the various skills and Acquisition Centres in the state were open to all to acquire one skill or the other and that government had also made provisions with Micro-finance Banks to give out loans to successful and interested graduates from the Skill and Acquisition Centres. Opeifa, reiterated that the campaign was essentially to enlighten the public on the need to save lives by ensuring compliance with traffic rules and regulations as they apply to okada riders in the state. Some of the new order by the state government include restriction of motorcycle use among pregnant women, school age children and women with children on their backs. The law further states that motorcyclists should avoid riding against traffic and direction prohibited by law. They should also ensure strict compliance with the use of crash helmets for both the rider and passenger, among others. In the campaign, some routes were identified as “no go area” for motorcyclists. The Lagos State government has, however, made adequate alternatives such as the provision of BRT buses, taxi, ferry and tricycles in order to ameliorate the negative impact of the directive. |

Deposed Deji’s wife begs for his return THE battered wife of the deposed Deji of Akure, Olori Bolanle Adepoju Adesina, Monday sought forgiveness for her banished husband, Oba Adepoju Adesina. She particularly urged the Ondo State Government and the Akure community to rescind their decision to sack the former monarch. Adesina was dethroned about two months ago by the government for allegedly assaulting Olori Bolanle in public. He is presently banished from Akure. Olori Bolanle addressed reporters after the end of a reconciliatory meeting held by heads of her family and those of the Adepoju Adesina royal family. She said: "At the end of the crucial meeting, family of the Deji withdrew the controversial statement which disowned my children as potential members of Adesina royal family." She urged traditional rulers to help her appeal to the government to rescind its decision on the deposed monarch. Bolanle said: "I also impress it on my colleague oloris in the state to support my pleading to Akure kingmakers, eminent Akure indigenes, youths, indigenes of the state and Akure people in the Diaspora." In a letter of apology to the Olori’s family in Owo, the Adepoju Adesina royal family appealed to the head of the family, Chief Akinola Fadeyi, for forgiveness. It urged the family to disregard the statement on alleged infidelity and doubtful paternity of the two princes whom Olori Bolanle has for the deposed Akure monarch. It said: "Our family, like yours, is rather disturbed by the undue publicity and political manipulations to which this ordinary matrimonial matter has been subjected." The statement was jointly signed by Cheif Abisoye Adesina, Prince Ibukun Adepoju Adesina and Princess Bobola Adepoju Adesina. It said the report credited to the former monarch was made in the heat of passion based on the prevailing circumstances at that time. The family said the two children are their authentic children and not bastards. |

Retired general kills kidnapper during ambush A gang of suspected gun-toting kidnappers, who have been kidnapping people unchallenged, by merely shooting into the air and scaring both police and passersby alike, received a rude shock yesterday as their targeted victim, turned out to be a retired general, shot dead one of the gang members. JOJ Okoloagu, a retired general, was ambushed by a gang of armed kidnappers at the Alaoji area of Aba, on his way to Port Harcourt in company with his orderly and the driver. Speaking from his hospital bed, Mr Okoloagu said he surprised one of the suspected kidnappers who had come to drag him out of his car when he drew his pistol and fired the bullets at him. He said that the kidnappers, after blocking his vehicle, started firing into the air while one of the armed hoodlums demobilized his vehicle by blasting the four tyres. The Enugu State born former officer said as one of them subsequently came to drag him out of his car. “He thought I was a civilian and immediately he let his hands off the trigger, I pumped the whole six rounds into his chest,” Mr. Okoloagu said. He was also shot and wounded by the startled gang, along with his orderly who was shot in the hand. Sensing that their mission was a failed one, with one of them down, the gang subsequently fled after commandeering a vehicle which they used to carry away their slain colleague. Mr. Okoloagu said he managed to escape into the bush with his orderly in the confusion that followed, but regretted that his driver was critically wounded and is now in coma at a hospital. He called on the federal government to get soldiers involved in arresting the insecurity by rehabilitating abandoned army barracks in the Southeast zone. The Abia state police command’s spokesperson, Ali Okechukwu said he can not immediately confirm the incident |
I can imagine the hurts and the betrayal. Please, take solace in the fact that a broken relationship is far better than a broken marriage. Even if you had dated for more than 3 years, not wasted still. Thank God the marriage did not hold after all. In everything my dear, give thanks to God. Trust God! |

If i may ask please, how do u differentiate false reporting from true reporting? I have a little knowledge or experience with a media house, though as an Auditor. When a story gives u some vital information like REAL names, addresses, landmarks; most likely, the story is true. Therefore, from the above, i can tentatively conclude that the story is true, ALL things being equal. |
The story maybe true of false. But i think is true; names and addresses of the duo who stole the money and the victim were published. One can easily go and verify physically if in doubt. |
Biowande:. It was reported in the PM News of yesterday. I believe it was culled from there. |
Damysa:. With all sincerity, i totally agree with you sir. As a strong member of RCCG, i have had to confront the church leaders with these issue u have raised. Too many parishes situated too closely and is giving us some headache. On the issue of pastors not well groomed, i think is more of personal relationship with God and determination to succeed as a pastor, show good example and to make Heaven as a child of God. |
