SportsRe: Our Falconets Are Being Shabbily Treated By Nigeria! by oisehumen(m): 1:06pm On Jul 19, 2010
honeric01:
Before people starts jumping on the bandwagon, i would like to say that we should first consider how much Fifa gives out to federations for female football development, how much the U-20 cup is worth and how much the tournament itself is expected to generate.

1:"You can't compare the women U-20 world cup with the Men's Senior World-cup

2: You should only compare the U-20 females with their U-20 male counterparts and not the Senior national team, it's a mis-representation

3: How much were their U-20 male counterpart paid when they were in Egypt?

The answers to these questions are enough to decide if the girls are being treated poorly or not.
.

You have said it all.
I strongly disagree with the poster that Falconets are being treated shabbily.

Try and find answers to the questions asked above. Am sure u will write to counter what u have posted.

Hmmmmm
Does he have what it takes to turn a team around and get good results?

He had the best players in the world at his disposal at South Africa 2010 yet he got disgraced by a young and inexperienced German side.
SportsDiego Maradona Offered Four-year Extension As Argentina Coach by oisehumen(op): 8:26am On Jul 15, 2010
Diego Maradona will be offered a new four-year contract to stay on as Argentina coach, the Argentinian Football Association has announced.

AFA president Julio Grondona will meet with Maradona next week to offer him the chance to guide his nation to the Brazil 2014 World Cup after the AFA executive committee determined he remains the right man to command the national team after a respectable showing at the World Cup in South Africa.

Maradona had little coaching experience before taking Argentina on a roller-coaster ride to World Cup qualification. Few gave him any chance of turning his undoubtedly high-quality squad into World Cup contenders but they impressed on their way to the quarter-finals before being humbled 4-0 by Germany.

Grondona intends to meet with Maradona no later than next Wednesday to discuss the contract extension. Maradona said after his side's exit that he would consult his family and the Argentina players before deciding whether he intended to stay on.

They possess the commitment and urgency that our papa eagles have always lacked.
I was very impressed, but the technical crew should teach them to play like a team in front of goal.

England 1, Nigeria 0.

Is very sad to see our ladies go down by a goal after playing so much beautiful football and creating over a dozen chances.
When are we going to get it right in this country? huh huh huh huh huh huh
Our teams at all levels have always lacked good technical input.
The English ladies had just one corner kick in the entire first half and they converted it.

Okija_juju:
Siasia will be a bad Idea.

It will just mean that the NFA still dont know what they are doing.
Remember that the sacking of Amodu and the subsequent hiring of Largerback was as a result of the clamouring of Nigeria for a foreign coach who basically did not do better than Amodu (cos I dont think Amodu could have been worse).

Siasia I respect as a coach, but is he ready to handle the national team?? I say NO!!
I still say Clement Westerhoff should be involved with the raising of the new eagles in some way. He is still here in the country and we might as well use his services even if it is in an advisory capacity.

SportsRe: Barcelona And Not Spain Won This World Cup by oisehumen(m): 9:07am On Jul 13, 2010
snowdrops:
This welcomes a new era of football domination by Spain both at club level and nationally. It is the result of a 10 - 15 yr project. Remember Nigeria 1999, when Spain won the under 20 with the likes of Xavi and Iniesta? Instead of Nigeria to emulate them we fielded the likes of Aghahowa who currently is retired expecting his grandchild.

If the Barca youth set up were to continuing producing the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Fabregas and Messi, whao what more can one say.

Reminds of the Egyptian national team which is composed of players in few select clubs in THEIR COUNTRY and know each others games in and out. No surprises they have won 3 or is it 4 consecutive nations cup.
.

Iniesta was not in that squad that won Nigeria 1999 please. Ike Casillas was the goal keeper both in Egypt 1997 under 17 and Nigeria 1999 under 20.
But like u said, is a lesson for us; we must stop fielding old men in place of REAL under 17 or 20. Spain is reaping the fruits today because those boys were REAL under 17 and under 20.

The same cannot be said of our players. Just look at the last under 17 held in Nigeria last year, how many of our players were even 22 years, not to talk of under 17? Is a shame and is a malady. We can never make a headway in our football if things remain the way they are now.

@oisehumen,

Bookmakers are just a tiny fraction of soccer enthusiasts. Hence, should not be used to judge the general performance.

What the average man in the street will tell you is that Spain won and no argument

Yeah, i understand for sure Spain won. They took away the cup plus $30 million
I wanted Holland to win that match.

What an excuse from parents who have woefully failed to bring up their children in a good way.
I see this as rubbish. They should bury their heads in shame.

As parents, are we not supposed to monitor our kids in watching movies on telly?
What kind of parents are they anyway, that allow their kids to select and watch movies on telly freely?

Redman44:
The Psychiatrist's conclusions are very subjective. I'm afraid I'm not buying into his argument. Yeah, some Nigerians might display strange behaviour once in a while or might be certified mad men and women, but that does not make 70% of Nigerians mentally unstable. I'm talking from experience. Someone might start behaving aggressively due to the pressures of life. Maybe the person is jobless or he's just be swindled by fraudsters. What about a lady who has just been jilted by a guy she loves deeply? Loads of things happen in this life but I've noticed that as soon as we put bad occurrences behind us, we become ourselves again. I make bold to say there were times when I've behaved like a lunatic in the past [ Though I was sane and doing well with my life ] due to some issues I had.

As for the lady that said she has come across many Nigerians with mental problems in the UK, I agree with her to an extent. However, her line of argument is also subjective. Many Nigerians in Britain are worried because of visa problems, bewitchment by envious people [ Don't laugh o ] veiled racism and their daily struggle to survive. The whites in Britain have their own mental problems too. I only pray that God sees us through in all our endeavours in life and wherever we find ourselves.  Cheers.

By your same logic, is it not awkward that both sets of mobs were offered female substitutes? and also that both females would still have been gang-despoiled? If it wasn't so much an offence, I can bet there were no shortage of males in both households.

Wonders will never cease to end!  undecided

Reptyle:
The Anglican church in Nigeria has always firmly opposed homosexuality. The immediate past Primate of the church, Archbishop Akinola, was quite outspoken about it and the church in Nigeria was in the forefront of Anglican Communions from across the world who severed ties with the US Ecumenical Church for ordaining a homosexual priest. South Africa has legalized homosexuality so I guess Desmond Tutu has to toe the line in order to remain relevant in the scheme of things smiley

But seriously, some many people in Naija are really unstable upstairs, though not up to 70% sha.

Imagine what i witnessed some minutes ago when i went out for lunch.
A young man of not more than 25 years bought a singlet from a hawker along the road. U won't believe what this young man did! In the full glare of the public, he removed his shirt and wore the singlet. I challenged him why he was doing that; he simply told me he was 'testing' it. cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy
