Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojesymsym:
I didn't get 36AH the day I went to the market so settled for 2 x 45AH. If you are talking of product type, dat was not part of my consideration at all. Just wanted a battery system that I can subject to abuse and not feel guilty. A 30k investment is a lot easy on the conscience than 200k, 400k etc.
mahkanjuh:
Hey, Boss! Which type of Car battery is that? Please, whisper it into my ears too, I have been thinking of running my freezer during the day only ..........
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojesymsym: 9:57am On Aug 05, 2020
If you ask me, I will suggest you continue to use your 12V as it is, then set up another system with 24V, solar power etc to be another power source. It is an equivalent of having a small generator and a big generator.

Come closer let me whisper something else to you; for my inverter that I designated to be for fridge, I opted to use car battery for that. The idea is during the day, as long as there is sun my fridge and freezer get powered. That off and on cycling of compressor in my experience takes a toll on most batteries, car batteries are more suited for providing high start up current. When the sun goes down, any extra hours I get (typically two to three hours) is bonus to me. Once that one drains out, I change over to the other inverters. Please do not tell anyone what I just told you, not now that everyone is heading towards lithium.

I personally hate having only one point of failure. One day I will write about my experience with DC house lighting, wind turbine, 2 x 24V system, 2 x 12V system, and how I cycle through them. The one I allow to be used and abused and the ones that I pamper.
It is that system that made me use batteries from 2013 and only had to replace this year. One of the remaining one from the 2013 set is what I have shifted to one of my 12V system, I will use it to its last breath. Talk about sustainability and helping the environment.
godspeed:
Boss please, one last question.

I'm thinking about going back to the 12 v battery setup - paralleling my two batteries and returning to my 12 v inverter instead of the 24 v inverter.

Will this guarantee more yield?

For the 12v battery setup, do I leave my solar configuration as it is ( 4 panels in parallel) or do I optimize by changing to 2p2s?

Which leads me to believe they secretly envied those professionals despite being richer than them.

That was their undoing. The old richmen and businemen were not educated, they gave their children the best education in Europe and United States and their children became judges, lawyers, Professors, doctors, Engineers, civil servants and diplomats. The education was not to enable the children grow the business unlike their Indian and Lebanese counterparts

They are many successful family business in Europe and Asia, not all of them are listed or want to be listed.

If your business is built with proper structure

It will survive with or without your kids running it

Many of the businesses in Eurppe that survived centuries

The descendants of their founders are not running the business but shareholders in it

The structure is key

That's why I'm always in favour of listing companies when they get to a certain size

That way the legacy can keep going

What then can we do differently? Most business owners send their kids to school to become regular professionals and usually don't groom them in their businesses.

I was just coming to edit my post before it gets quoted but you beat me to it. I just heard someone did a direct transfer, my experience was different some months back and what I wrote was what I understood from what I was told. Pretty confusing to me.
einsteine:
CBN has nothing to do with Dom account transfer. Within a bank, transfers from one Dom account to another is instant. You are right about the currency issue. The reason you can't directly transfer from one Dom account in one bank to another is because they use different intermediary banks. If you transfer from a US dollar Dom account in bank A to a Dom account in bank B, the bank's account with an American bank is debited and transferred to bank B's account with another American bank before Bank B can credit their customer. If both banks use the same intermediary banks, the transfer could be instant.
Investment › Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ojesymsym: 12:09pm On Aug 04, 2020
To the best of my knowledge, that is the only way you can even get a transfer to be done successfully. I do not think CBN allows for direct transfer between one dorm acct to the other. The principle I understand behind this is that our currency is in naira and all FX transfer should be outside the country, hence the need for an intermiedary bank for many of these instruments.
Wiseoldman:
Hello All,

Does anyone know a USD fund (or EROBOND fund) in Nigeria that doesn't require international bank transfer. Most of the funds require sending funds outside the country through the intermediary bank. This takes off some chunk of the profit.

Ghost shopper non go show every day na? They are going to come in randomly which means the staff can take a chance.
Maybe shopping mails can create a whistle blowing feedback page where real people who come to shop can report acts of stealing that they observe like the one you said you observed.
Other businesses can actually have a model like this.
The only problem is that, na another staff who is probably part of the organized crime go still read am and not the owners of the business, so those ones can still cover it up.

My brother, even if you carry out so called due diligence and use the best recruitment method, you can still get poor quality service. That is why people now prefer to use referrers with the hope that the link to someone who referred them will make them a little more accountable so as not to disappoint the person who referred them.

Because Covid is temporary and will end someday and the retail industry will bounce back.
So why would any sane retailer sell off his business because of a temporar problem?
Even clubs and lifestyle inclined businesses that has been shut completely for over 5 months aren't folding up due to covid,so why would retail that was only affected by a negligible percentile fold due to covid? undecided
Now you see why no one talked about the "effects of covid".

How come no one is including the effect of COVID as part of the reasons they may have, as the last straw that broke the camel's back.
Donbrig:
Shoprite cannot leave Nigeria now, they have built a strong market influence in Nigeria, but they need some overhaul. I am a bit pleased that Nigerians are beginning to embrace local products, though at a very slow pace. FG should set up a more aggressive campaign for Nigerians to patronise local products, that seem to be the only way out of our economical woes.

States/regions should compete on setting up local factories and industries, we know there are challenges, but we all must play our role.

Our local market is so big that we don't necessarily need FDI, some FDI could be more of a burden than asset to their host countries.

Few years ago, FG wanted to issue a license to foreign flights to operate local in Nigeria, just imagine how devastating that would had been to our economy and indigenous flights today, thank God for Air peace management and other local airlines who stood their ground against the idea to issue license to foreign flights. At the moment, local flights in Nigeria is now one of the best in Africa, some states are even getting ready to launch their own airlines.

since all models have failed, perhaps this is the best model to consider, just that Naija factor will enter again and those companies will neither do the jobs non pay the tax.
But then, it has the advantage that the tax companies pay stay in the area where they generate the funds rather than go and give other states that should not be states in the first place.
Nigeria does not need more than 12 states if you ask me.

Some people here raised the issue high exchange rate in favor of Dollar as the parallel/black market has continued to edge towards 500/$1. This should be great source of concern to all, if no radical economic measures are put in place, the fate of Naira will be same as some other currencies like Zimbabwe dollar, Lebanese lira, Venezuela Bolivar and other failed currencies. Naira going toward 1000/$1 means more and more people will lose hope in Naira as means of Exchange, leading to adoption of dollarization.

CBN as a matter of urgency needs to strengthen naira by curbing the activities of currency speculators and black market operators. Restoration of people confidence on naira will stop panic buying of dollars for the preservation of their savings/investment.

Many people do not appreciate the scale of this scourge
ultron12345:
Take a look at this topic that made front page few days.

https://www.nairaland.com/6021726/juju-scare-should-quit-job

Like what we were discussing the other time.

Salary: 35K per month
Daily Allowance: 2K daily (40k- 48k per month)
Yet, he's stealing 50-60K weekly (200-240k per month) from his employer, and he said he's not the only one. Imagine they are up to 4 or 5 engaged in this act. The business is loosing N1M to theft monthly.

And the owner will be thinking buhari or village people are the reason her business isn't doing well, not knowing its the witches and wizards that she employed.

Nigerians are wicked. If this business fails now, you'll see the theives shouting "No job, No job". When they've killed all the businesses that were supposed to create jobs.

Another surprising thing is that such theft has even been normalized in the society. He said it so proudly, without a single iota of shame, and apart from one or two people, the majority of those commenting didn't even say anything about the theft. They're telling him to pray, and even him after stealing is still claiming to be a Christian. Another irony is how Nigerians can be so religious yet so wicked, evil and fraudulent.

Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria.
The reason most Nigerians haven't stolen billions of government money is simply lack of opportunity.
The population of Nigerians waiting to steal is greater than the population of those currently stealing.
The only reason Nigerians are angry at corruption by politicians, is because they're not the one benefiting from it.

It shall never be well with that OP. Hopefully, that his leg injury will turn into cancer and kill him. Bastard.
