GudluckIBB: Anyone noticed you cant amend Order in Morgan Capital Itrade ? That's the behaviour on meristem as well, you will need to cancel the order and create new one. I think it makes sense. Edit: looks like amend is allowed with Morgan, that's quite risky what if due to network issues amend does not get delivered via the NSE API fast enough and a buy for initial order was done. |

funshyboi: 1, Let’s say I have panels supplying 1000 watts generation
2 hybrids will serve as CC and and can still be used to the battery with electricity right ?
3 can you lay more emphasis why it’s not safe
Thanks 1&2 if you want 1kw then you can get 1.5kw of panel 250w X 8 or 380w x 4. Get a 2kw hybrid inverter, it will serve as CC, will provide electricity to your gadget and will provide charging via utility as well not just through sunlight 3. The panel voltage may exceed the battery voltage and there will be noting to tell the panel to stop charging the battery which could result to overcharging |

funshyboi: 1, Good day guys what determines the choice of charge controller to go for?
2, which is better, should I go for hybrid inverter or just CC
3 I have a friend who’s with 80watts solar panel with a LiFePO4 battery capacity of 480watts. Does that mean with 6/7 hours of sun the battery will charge to its full capacity
Do I need I still need a charge controller for this system thanks 1. Your budget and required generation from the sun 2. I prefer hybrids but some prefer standalone 3. Assuming the generation is 80w for 6/7 hours yes but that is not practical the power will drop and peak according to sun rays. Yes you need a charge controller if you want to charge with sunlight. That said, some people connects panel directly to batteries, I don't recommend that. Not safe for you and your backup system |

Sty2020: Please house what is the best 3.5kva 24V or 3.5Kva 48V hybrid inverter in the market? Thank you.. Hmm... that's really about budget. The victron hybrids will certainly be one of the best and I heard there is an official reseller in naija. However other good ones include, must hybrid, Felicity hybrid, sorotec (which you can get from @valto), I don't know of a local source for MPP hybrids else it would be top on my list |

Someone on this thread said prime delivers above name plate so I decided to give it a trial on my recent deployment and got 2x380w from @justcallmenuel. Today when the sun had a brief laughter I saw 0.84kw and it stayed for at least 2min, unfortunately I didn't take picture and no loging option at that site. My 280x9 sunfit was also slightly above name plate (power) when I checked my log today.
Certainly solar will be what more people will transition to with increase in utility cost/bills.

Sty2020: Thanks for the clarification. It means I can power a 1hp/1.5hp submersible pumping machine with a hybrid 3kva inverter and just one 200ah? I hope I am right. Note the type of battery, if your battery meet that requirement yes you can power it for the duration i earlier mentioned |
Computers › Re: Inverter Users : Lets Have Your Experience by ojeysky(m): 4:21pm On Sep 07, 2020 |
Sty2020: Thanks for the quick response? How many batteries do you use with your 3kva and how long do you think it can last if used for pumping water only? It will depend on the ratings of your machine, I have a 200AH LFP and assuming I dedicate it to pumping machine (which is not practical in my case) it would last me about 4.5 to 5hrs |

Sty2020: What kVa of hybrid inverter/inverter do I need to power a 1hp/1.5hp submersible water pump? Thanks in advance. Am using a 1.5hp and my 3kva hybrid powers it comfortably with my GenPal AC running. So you should be fine with a 2kw hybrid (that has a 2x surge) |

earthrealm: Yeah, that should work. Set the inverter to 0 charge and hook up the standalone charger, 75 to 100amps 48v would be ideal, but not common am certain. Ojeyskys seems to be 40amps or so The lithium chargers I have are not 48v. I have them in 12v variants |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojeysky(m): 11:26am On Sep 05, 2020 |
earthrealm: 330k plus, but Valtos sorotec is about 50k cheaper, similar specs. But I thought that was 24v and the other one is 48v, did I miss something? Ooh, the mighty MPP doesnt hv a lithium profile, interesting. So your workaround is that you set the bulk and float to be roughly the same value. This would work for devices with editable charge voltage settings. My 4yr old mustpower and highpower inverters dont have that capability . Guess i would have to sell them off, when that te comes It has profile for some specific lithium such as pylontech but not for generic lithium like mine. You certainly need to change inverter |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by ojeysky(m): 9:02am On Sep 05, 2020 |
earthrealm: Yeah, its not gonna be cheap, when you factor in shipping and all, plus tying down funds for an indefinite periods, its in same price point as sorotec, sorotec has 3.2kw 48v variant, which is gr8. 90amps mppt, while this is 100amps mppt. If the price is 330k+ I will say it's a great deal so long as it's does what is listed in that spec sheet. I will be interested in its power consumption from a user of the inverter. @ house, is there a way to use a non lithium batteey specific inverter and Cc to charge lithuim battery?. I think for cc, one can maybe play with the bulk and absorb time and voltage settings to get it work for lithuim, but for inverter.. seems no show.
Ayam tired, upon the hefty money am gonna spend on lithuim, to still add buying new inverter/cc to the budget get as e be o. Mek una advice Ofcourse, my MPP GK does not have a lithium profile and that's what I use for my battery. I basically charge my 25.6v LFP up to 27.4v and it floats at that voltage as well. That has worked fine for me. |

NiyiOmoIyunade: Victron has an authorised dealer and service center here in Nigerian. A number of independent resellers also stock parts and have expertise to repair fix issues.
Magnum, SMA e.t c also have sellers who stock products, parts and can perform repairs.
The difference between the big name brands and your independent/niche imports is that the name brands have wide acceptance and a large user base - people will always stock parts for stuff that everyone buys/uses regularly. Okay this is news to me, as to expertise to fix I think one can find that for most of the inverter variants it's just how much one is willing check. Meanwhile I just noticed victron has hybrids as well. The 48v version sure looks interesting.

Edit: I have seen the data page shared by @ceaser it has a lithium charging profile as well. Wow! This could be the deal breaker in the chinco world |

NiyiOmoIyunade: Hmmmmmmm, I do think the market perceives a clear quality differential between the European origin Steca and Phocos vs Axpert and it's Asian clones.
The EU origin products are perceived to be more robust, stable and with better features overall.
One of my biggest issues is in-country aftersales support and parts when the product eventually breaks. I don't want to be waiting on replacement boards or parts to arrive. Apart from felicity I don't think any other official aftersales support outlets exist for the rest; including the MPP, phocos and the big wigs victrons, magnum etc. So replacement parts process will be similar for all of them when the need arise. What is only debatable is durability. |

JustCryptos: Ceejay80s. First, I want to appreciate you for opening this thread and your efforts.
We did business over 3 years ago. You helped me to purchase my entire DIY unit comprising of UPS, 30amp smart charger, and a 200ah battery. I used that unit for about 2 years before the battery packed up.
Ceejay80s and to all the gurus in the house, I'll like to know what kind of setup 500k will give me.
Note: There's no electricity in the area I'll be relocating to. So, I'll be leaving 100% off grid until more people start living there.
What I intend to power. 1 deep freezer, 1 standing fridge freezer, 5 wall mounted fans, 2 LED TV sets, 1 1200w iron, and general LED house lighting.
Priority goes to my fridge, freezer and house lighting.
Please, I'll love experts in the house to help me. I'll also like to ask. I am yet to wire the house. Is there any need to do a separate wiring for solar and another for NEPA?
Thanks in advance. I have a set-up for less than that amount but working with your 500k plan: 200AH X2 lead acid battery: 200k Inverter hybrid 24v 2kva: 120k Solar panel 380w X 3: 140k Cable, battery lock, etc: 40k Caveat: It certainly won't power all those stuff you've listed simultaneously. At the minimum you want to remove iron from the list |
