… Discloses he’s not been to hospital since 1988 … Ilonzo treats him of memory loss MANY who didn’t know the founder, Centre for Psychic and Healing Administration (CPHA), Chief (Dr) Flora Ilonzo and her great powers of healing with herbs across the globe, got to know her in 1988, after the news of how she raised an Enugu-based tailor, Gaius Ejiogu, from the dead was carried by the media. Before then, she was healing people affected with various disease including mental illness, cancer, tuberculosis, among others. Of course, Gaius was not the first person already confirmed dead by doctors or even brought out from the mortuary that Ilonzo raised from the dead but according to Ilonzo, Gaius’ story launched her to the outside world because it caught more attention of the press and she took him to various places outside Nigeria. Ilonzo never hesitates to proudly tell the story of how she got her powers or knowledge from the teachings of her grandfather, Akunne Onyido, who she once revived after he was certified clinically dead by dropping the same liquid squeezed from Odaa Opue in his nostrils even before healing Gaius and many others. Giaus Ejiogu hails from Orodo in Mbaitolu Local Government Area of Imo State. He was a father of six children as at the time of the incident in 1988 and had two other children after that. According to Ilonzo while recalling the incident in an exclusive interview with our reporters at her CPHA home in Awka, after curing Gaius from memory loss, “Gaius is not the only person I raised from the dead but he made me popular. It happened in 1988. He woke up one morning and became paralysed. He was taken to hospital but at a point, he died. His wife insisted that he must be brought to me because they have heard stories of others like Mrs Ntori from Isukwuato, who was brought from mortuary and raised from the dead. When they brought him, we administered odaa opue (Bryophyllum Pinnatum) on him and he started moving his tongue. We followed up the treatment and he finally became whole. “His relations, who never agreed with his wife to bring him to us were marveled. They still say till this day that they never believed that “a corn thrown on concrete would ever be fruitful”. “My happiness is that since 1988 till he lost his memory few weeks ago, he never got sick or went to hospital and he even became fruitful by fathering two more children after the incident.” Ilonzo revealed that Gaius was brought to her this second time not because he was sick but because he didn’t know himself. “He told his people he wanted to go home. They thought he was talking of going to the village. They took him to the village and he kept saying he wanted to go home. “The day I was talking with him, he said he was telling them that I am the only one that would understand what he meant. They brought him from village to here when they found out he didn’t recognise even his daughter. “We used ugili leaves to wash his head before taking him to the ward. Our fathers used ugili seeds for divination. Ugili touches the brain/memory. Anybody who has somebody losing memory should use ugili. Collaborating Ilonzo’s claims, Mr Ejiogu, who spoke to our reporters in an interview after he was discharged from the healing centre said that he never got sick after he was revived by Ilonzo in 1988 and thanked Ilonzo for saving his life once again. His wife, Mrs Appolonia Ejiogu narrated how God used Ilonzo to revive her husband 33 years ago. She said, “We have known Ilonzo since 1988, when my husband got paralysed. We were at a hospital and things were getting worse. At a point, he was declared dead. We were directed to go to Anyafulugo. In truth, he was about to be taken to the mortuary and his brothers never agreed that we should carry him to Anyafulugo, saying we were only going to waste more money. “My brother insisted that he will use his car and pay the money. After much debate, I insisted we most get there. When we got there, even that my brother didn’t believe he would be revived. They took him in and after administering the herbs; I didn’t know the herbs but she is the one explaining just like now what she gave him and he got better. He first started moving his tongue. After some days, he was able to move his hands. Then One day, he told me to help him stand up and that was how he started moving around and became well. “Since he came back to life 33 years ago, he had no problem. He used to come here regularly. Even when they packed to Awka from Enugu, he was part of them. We came back here few weeks ago because he lost himself. He didn’t recognize anybody. “But since we came here, he is getting better. Is he not the one telling you I’m his wife? As at the time we brought him, he said I am a harlot following him around. What is happening here is wonderful. Anyafulugo merits the name, ‘Ozouwandu’. A lot of things are happening in the ward. There were lots of hopeless cases since we came but the patients have all gone home. “She is trying a lot. I pray God to keep her alive. Her works is just a little different from that of Christ.” Ilonzo, who was visibly happy over Gaius’ recovery presented some herbs and drugs to Gaius for use at home. Umuigbo United Assembly (UUA), an Igbo Socio-Cultural organisation says governors of South East states had the capacity to solve the security challenges in the region if they decide to. The organisation said this during its seventh anniversary celebration in Awka on Tuesday. Chief Odirah Ezeh, Chairman of Umuigbo United Assembly in Anambra said herdsmen-farmers clash and attacks and attacks on police personnel and formations should be a source of concern to the people. Ezeh said the attacks may not be unconnected to activities of Eastern Security Network (ESN) formed by the leadership of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to address the menace of Fulani herdsmen in the region. He said governors of South East states should provide a security ought that would serve the interest of the people if they sis not want to support ESN. “Governors of South East states have disappointed the people in terms of security, it is sad that they have not come together to take a position on the security situation in the region. “The governors should openly condemn the killing and raping of our women in the farm by herdsmen. “UUA propose that our governors in South East should meet with those that formed with ESN and agree on how they can possibly adopt the security outfit and if they don’t want to support ESN, let them form a new one that can jointly secure the area just as Amotekun is doing in the South West,” he said. Also speaking, Chief Raphael Nwadivid, President General of UUA said the giul which was formed on Jan. 2, 2014 was to secure and protect the interest of Igbo people anywhere across the globe. Nwadavid said UUA was delirious to seeing that only the right and competent candidates emerged irrespective of their political leaning. He said Nigeria should give people of the south east to produce the gindtnatitialsbv “Anambra 2021 will be simple, we have had experience of government that promised without fulfilling them. This time we will look at the candidates are crucible and competent that would pilot the affairs of the state. “We must exhibit love among ourselves, we have been allowed to contribute our quota to national development, we have not been allowed to serve in key positions of authority including the President. “UUA is working to ensure that come 2023, we shall have a president of Igbo extraction irrespective of which political party he belongs to, provided he has the capacity to inspire the change we desire. “We want independent minded competent and men of good will men who would not trade with the common destiny of our people. “I want to call on political parties in Nigeria to give their presidential ticket to people from the south East 2021, they should give Igbos the slots because God has blessed them with the talent to provide solution to Nigeria’s sector challenges will not consider the political parties but the individuals. |
By Okechukwu Onuegbu A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Awka, the Anambra State capital, before His Worship, Mike Anyadiegwu, has dismissed an application brought before it to stay proceeding on a criminal matter before it for lacking in merit. The court averred that no court in Nigeria, including the Supreme Court, has the power to stay proceedings on a criminal matter; especially when the intention is to stall the trial. One Chief Ben Ifeatu, who was standing trial over a criminal impersonation at the Chief Magistrate Court II, Awka, in a case with charge number MAW/14c/ 2019, had, through his counsel, Barr C. N Eziamaka of the G.U Muoneke Chambers, Awka, brought an order of the State High Court under Justice Chukwudi Okaa, in a suit number A/4CA/2020, and dated January 18, 2020; wherein the High Court ordered the Magistrate Court to stay proceedings on the matter pending the hearing and determination of appeal lodged by the applicant at the High Court against an order of the Magistrate Court in its ruling dated 29th June, 2020; wherein the court rejected ‘no case submission’ application of the defendant, and ordered him to face his trial. But when the High Court order was brought before the Chief Magistrate Court yesterday, the presiding magistrate, Mike Anyadiegwu, opposed the application on the ground that it was lacking in merit. He said, “The new position of the law today is that an application for stay of proceedings in respect of criminal matters before a court shall not be entertained. See Section 306 of the Administrative Criminal Justice Law, 2015. The above position was made by the apex court in a landmark decision in the case of Olisa Metu vs Federal Republic of Nigeria in a suit SC/1457/2016. “The Supreme Court upheld the provision of Section 306 of the ACJL, 2015, as well as Section 40 of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (Establishment) Act. The apex court held that no court in this country has the power, including the Supreme Court itself, to stay proceedings in a criminal matter.” He further averred that the appellate court can review the conviction, if at the end of the trial, the defendant is convicted; adding that a grant of stay would encourage defendants whose no case submission were over ruled, to delay trial. “The beauty of refusing stay of proceeding over interlocutory appeal is that if it is allowed, it will automatically put an end to the prosecution of criminal activities in the Magistrate Court, because, any application refused by Magistrate Court will move to Appeal Court up to the Supreme Court, and, by the time the appeal is disposed of by the apex court, the Magistrate Court might have lost jurisdiction to continue with the case, and a Trial De Nove will be ordered, which technically, may put an end to the prosecution, because, the witnesses may no longer be available. Therefore, this application is hereby, dismissed." |

Nwajiagu was standing trial on a four count charge bordering on impersonation and false claims. When the matter came up yesterday, counsel to the defendant, Mrs Francisca Linda Ezenagu, presented a medical report, and told the court that her client was down with High Blood Pressure, and therefore, could not be in court. She begged the court to give her client time to recover to enable him stand trial. The presiding Chief Magistrate, His Worship, Mike Anyadiegwu, ordered the defense counsel to file the medical report on her client's case file for proper documentation. He adjourned the matter to March 1, 15 and 22 for hearing. Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Mr. Anayo Nwano, told the court that the defendant, Nwajiagu, had sometime in the month of June, 2019, at Isiagu, within the Awka South Magisterial District, not being a traditional ruler, did hold himself out as the Igwe of Isiagu, thereby, committed an offence punishable under Section 19(a) of the Traditional Rulers Law Cap 42 of Anambra State of Nigeria, 2007. "That you, HRH Igwe Frederick Nwajiagu, not being recognized as traditional ruler of Isiagu, did address yourself in writing as Igwe; the traditional ruler of Isiagu community, thereby, committed an offence punishable under Section 19(e) of the Traditional Rulers Law Cap 42 of the Anambra State of Nigeria, 2007. "That you, in the same period, place and within the Awka South Magisterial District, did continue to parade yourself as Igwe in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace of the people of Isiagu community; thereby, committed an offence punishable under Section 247(d) of the Criminal Code Cap 36, Vol. II Revised Laws of Anambra State of Nigeria, 1991, as amended," he added. |
By Okechukwu Onuegbu Awka The federal ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster management and Social Development (FMHADMSD), Friday, trained about 150 people to independently monitor its various National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) across Anambra state communities. The trainees were to effectively monitor the NSIP programme and beneficiaries which include N-Power, Homegrown school feeding, conditional cash transfer and government enterprise and empowerment programme with a view to ensuring they comply with the objectives. Speaking at the event held at Awka, the minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Umar Farouq, urged the monitors to carryout their responsibilities with utmost diligence and sincerity as the ministry would not hesitate from handing over any of the monitors found wanting to the security agents such as DSS, EFCC and the ICPC. The major high point of electioneering process is the message as packaged in campaign manifestoes by the gladiators. In a more civilised country like the United States, it is the message that largely determine the choice of the electorates who wins election at the end of the day. Barrack Obama made history as the first and the only African American to win Presidential election in United States courtesy of message. As the people of Anambra State begin to look forward to the 2021 governorship election in the State during which the electorates will come out to vote in a candidate who will be enthroned as the new governor at the government house in Agu Awka, it is good for them to not just beam their searchlight on Mr Godwin Ezeemo but also accept the message that proceeds from him. Observers say Ezeemo who is in the race to be Governor of the Light of the Nation State under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), holds the ace in practical dimensions. According to observes, the message about Ezeemo who is the Chairman/CEO Orient Group of Companies is not just about what he is coming to do as governor if elected, it is also about what he is already doing as a businessman and philanthropist for over 20years Take for instance, as a businessman he has been developing busineses and creating jobs in businesses such as in manufacturing, transportation, agriculture, oil and gas, media, printing and publishing, hospitality and iCT for over 20years. As a philanthropist, he takes care of school fees of many children of poor families, built and equiped a Church and constructed asphalt roads at his home town in Umuchu among other numerous charity works he has been doing for years within Umuchu axis and others parts of Anambra State. An observer and also a chieftain of PDP in Onitsha, Hon Fes Ugwa who is conversant with the politics of Anambra State in his verdict stated that from what the Orient Group boss is doing as a businessman and charity donor he is "well equipped and well prepared, by God" to rekindle the glorious leadership qualities left behind in Anambra by former Governor Peter Obi Clearly going by what Ezeemo has achieved as a businessman and his impact on the people both as individuals, organizations, agencies and institutions like Churches, Schools and NGOs etc there is no gainsaying the fact that he is capable enough to give Ndi Anambra the kind of leaderhip they so desire. First is that he will bring his business sagacity and acumen to bear in the management of the resources of Anambra State. Certainly, he knows how to harness and channel the resources into pro people projects such as roads construction, improve on the standard of education, health, water, electricity and more importantly agriculture. Second is that as an International businessman, he has the capacity to connect Anambra to the bigger world, attract investors and create jobs on a massive. If can create jobs as a businessman, who won't he create job as the CEO of a big State? You answer is as good as ours. As Govenor Ezeemo will attract favor from overseas just like ex Governor Peter Obi. Third is that Ezeemo as Govenor will enhance peace and security in Anambra because he wil ensue all inclusive leadership from Agu Awka. He will govern the State with a listening ear and carry every segment of society along in the system Above said, It is important for the electorates starting from the kingmakers, PDP stakeholders, delegates for the primary election and the good people of the State in general to accept the message of Ezeemo for Governor and be ready to make it a reality on the election day. Ndi Anambra Daalunu |
"He is apparently the signpost of where Anambra should go in 2021" Analysts Ahead of the 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, it is very important for the good people the State, christened Light of the Nation to dig their eyes on the water with a view to dig out somebody like Mr Godwin Ezeemo for the State top job at the government house in Agu Awka. A look at the crops of politicians that have indicated interest to succeed the incumbent governor Willie Obiano in 2021 clearly shows that Ezeemo holds the ace in terms of practice things on ground to make a good governor Ndi Anambra want. Ezeemo is aspiring to be governor under PDP and he everything to show that he well prepared and capable enough to give Ndi Anambra the kind of good leadership left behind by former Governor Peter Obi which they are yearning. It is not about boasting, it is about stating the facts and putting the record straight, since the return of democracy to Nigeria in 1999 and even in the previous Republics, there has never been any governorship aspirants or candidate that had huge investments in Anambra State like Ezeemo. The significance of Ezeemo's massive investments in Anambra is that he doesn't just have the interest of the people but he also has what it takes like experience, exposure and capacity to render services of good governance. These trio words - experience, exposure and capacity are indispensable in governance. Anybody going into political office as big as the governorship seat of Anambra State must have some high degrees of experience, exposure and capacity needed to manage the the resources of the State. Experience, exposure and capacity were the secret of Peter Obi s yeoman leadership in Anambra State. In like manner, Ezeemo is coming on board with a high degree of experience which is needed to plan and execute laudable projects in critical sectors of governance as in security, education, health, agriculture, roads, water, sports, technology and others. He is coming with a high degree of exposure which is needed to reach out to the wider world and attract investors and create jobs. Ezeemo is an international businessman who lived in London for 20years, thus as a governor he will bring a high degree of exposure to bear in government house. Most importantly, he is coming with high degree of capacity which places him in stronger position to respond to issues of governance ranging from the State workforce, State functionaries both inward and oversight, ensuring diplomatic and amicable resolution of conflicts and ensuring effective response to the antics of opposition whose intent and purposes is to destabilize government. The point we are clearly making here is that Ezeemo is not a bad choice for governor of Anambra State. And to prove the points raised here, we have it on account that he is so far the only governorship that has a conglomeration of businesses cited in the State that cut across agriculture, hospitality, manufacturing, oil and gas, transportation, importation, ICT and Media, printing and publishing. He might be the only aspirant that owns a farmland, a radio station and a newspaper outfit in the State. In the area of philanthropy, he might be second to none among the aspirants because his philanthropic services cut across the State. He has constructed road with asphalt in his country home of Umuchu, built and donated a Church auditorium for Anglican communion, built and donated a two story house to Nigerians Union of Journalist (NUJ) Anambra State Council, donated speed boat to a riverine community ravaged by bad roads and menace of flood in the State plus scholarship to students up to university level to mention but a few. Analysts say Ezeemo is apparently the signpost indicating where Ndi Anambra will head to in 2021. Professor Nath Chibundu Okudo had this to say: "Well I have had the opportunity to visit Ezeemo at Umuchu and see things for myself and from what I observed, I think the man is prepared for governor and I won't mince words to say that he is the signpost of where Anambra should go in the next dispensation" |
As the good people of Anambra State look forward to the next governorship election in the State next year, a lot of political watchers who are well gounded with the affairs of the State have fingered Mr Godwin Ezeemo as arguably the best choice for the top job at the government house in Agu Awka. Mr Ezeemo an International businessman and a philanthropist in the magnitude of heavy rain, is seeking the mandate of Ndi Anambra to serve them as governor under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and political watchers are of the opinion that Ezeemo as a PDP governor at the government house I'm Awka will manifest a Super Anambra State. Dr Ejike Nwangwu, a University Don, who knows the politics of the Light of the Nation State quite well is of the opinion that PDP is as good as coasting home to victory if Ezeemo who is the Chairman/CEO Orient Group of Companies is chosen as the flag bearer of the party because according to him, the Orient Group boss has all it takes to win the election for the party. The lecturer said "Let's first of all look at the parties, I so strongly believe that PDP is the best choice when we talk about the political parties ahead of the election and fortunately PDP is strong enough to be victorious and all that the party needs to win and get back to the government house in Awka is a good candidate like Ezeemo who has made name with strong track record of practical experience on how to move Anambra forward" Another political watcher and Onitsha based businessman Chief Tobechi Adimora, puts it this way. "With do respect to other aspirants under PDP because all of them are good and well qualified to be governor, but I look at Ezeemo as what PDP needs at this point in time because Ndi Anambra need someone like him with the capacity to develop the State in most critical area of creating jobs" Chief Adimora is of the view that going by what Ezeemo has achieved as a businessman who has created thousands of jobs in agriculture, hospitality and manufacturing among other sectors of the economy, he has everything needed in a governor to rekindle the kind of good governance left behind by former governor Peter Obi to take Anambra where it should be. "So what I am saying is that PDP + Ezeemo = A Super Anambra State. Let me thus use this medium to tell the leadership of PDP in Anambra to shine their eyes towards Ezeemo because with him the party is going to come out victorious at the polls" he added

By Okechukwu Onuegbu The umbrella body of all support groups affiliated to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the National Coalition of PDP Support Groups has thrown its weight behind the governorship bid of Nigerian business mogul and philanthropist, Valentine Ozigbo. This high-powered endorsement, which was announced on Wednesday, February 4, 2021, at a press conference held at Parktonian Hotel, Awka, comes weeks after Ozigbo's governorship bid was endorsed by the Association of Past President Generals of Anambra State (APPAS). The delegation, which its Chairman, Chief Basil Nwolisa led, revealed that the coalition arrived at the decision after consulting widely and carrying out due diligence on all the aspirants interested in contesting the November 6 gubernatorial election on the platform of the PDP. Chief Nwolisa said Anambra State needs a corporate and management expert, hence, their choice of Valentine Ozigbo who is a proven corporate transformer. “We have the confidence and belief that going by his track record in the banking industry and his stint at Transcorp (Plc), he has the wherewithal to drive the leadership desired in Anambra State. We want to use Anambra as a citadel of a new generation of Nigerian states,” Chief Nwolisa declared at the press briefing. “In view of this, we have decided to throw our weight behind Mr Ozigbo. This is evident in the fact that we have contributed money to purchase his party (form) for the primaries. We cannot afford to lose Anambra State to those who do not know anything about leadership,” he added. Also addressing the press conference, the National Secretary of the group, David Ibrahim Bambur, stated that the group's endorsement of Ozigbo is significant as it was the first time in "the history of the group" that it would endorse a candidate at the state level. Dr Bambur also revealed that this was the second time they would be extending a similar gesture to an aspirant after the group endorsed the 2019 presidential bid of Atiku Abubakar, for whom they also purchased the party's primary form for. Bambur, further stated that it was noteworthy that the endorsement was coming even before the party primaries. According to him, the group’s decision was taken after a careful look at the character, antecedents, and developmental roadmap of Mr Ozigbo. He went on to assure Mr Ozigbo that the coalition will do everything within their power to ensure that he emerges victorious at the PDP primary and at the general polls in November. Reacting to the endorsement, Ozigbo said he was overwhelmed, humbled, and excited at the trust reposed in him by the high-level delegation made up of eminent politicians from within and outside Anambra State. Ozigbo, who is the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, expressed his gratitude to the group, assuring them that it would be a partnership that they will be proud of as he plans on delivering the dividends of true governance if given the opportunity to govern Anambra. Speaking to journalists after the event, Mr. Ozigbo said the endorsement was both timely and unprecedented. The award-winning global CEO also spoke briefly on his developmental plans for the state in different sectors. “Anambra is a State that we consider as the light of the nation, but that light has dimmed. It is time for that light to blossom, to shine, and to be great," Ozigbo said. "This cuts across many areas, infrastructure-wise, sustainable development goal-wise, everything that we need to set a completely new standard for governance is here in Anambra. “We will look at avenues of adding processing to our agricultural system. We will seek to solve the perennial power problem. I will be bringing all the experience I have garnered in the private sector to bear. "We will use technology to solve our immediate and remote needs in Anambra State,” Ozigbo remarked.

© Ezeemo Media Office In less than 12 months Anambra state will have a new state governor, fortunately the next governor will emerge outside the poultry farm of ndi okuko and fortunately the next governor will be a sound product of the umbrella family, the most widely accepted family among Anambrarians. Whereas the PDP family can make bold to trade along the line of reality rather than imagination and assumption, who will flag the party ticket is cardinal to determine the chances of the party at the poll. This is not about who makes the loudest noise or who appeared most at dance hall, PDP family must acknowledged the fact that Anambrarians only need a true developer and a man with track record of good input in human capital Development along the line of visible evidence, hence the call for a candidate that will make the journey less cumbersome for PDP to handle within the three months that the party has to campaign after the primary election to the main general election. In the light of this, many aspirants are on the raddar, they are all men with substance and value. Nevertheless, since the party need the best possible card that will roll the jack-pot, the whole arrows, pundits and the media are pointing to Mr Godwin Ezeemo, the Aguata born Industrialist and Social Entrepreneure. So far, Mr Godwin Ezeemo offers PDP a very sound platform to win the main election with his intimidating and functional inputs in the state, especially in key but numerous areas, ranging from Industrialization, Media, Tech, Hospitality, Charity, entertainment, economy, Health, power, environment, infrastructures etc. The odds is now in favour of PDP to move their compass towards Aguata and clinch the Government seat through Mr Godwin Ezeemo. #AnambraCanBeBetter #EzeemoConversation #AnambraPDP #EzeemoFactor #NewIdea #Anambra_ga_aka_mma

WHY I AM SO MUCH INTERESTED IN JOB CREATION _ Ezeemo "Curbing crime and bringing about quality security can only be achieved through job creation. The youths must be engaged properly. An idle mind remains a threat to the security of the society." _Ezeemo The sad and continuous increase in the population of young and vibrant men and women, graduates and skilled youths roaming the street all in attempt to survive is nolonger viewed as an issue that demands urgent response by the current handlers of our government who still did not find it as a threat to the security of lives and property. Few weeks ago Mr Godwin Ezeemo made a case via his twitter handle @officialezeemo where he stated that Job creation will provide the long anticipated solution to security in our society. Taking a clue from what he have been doing over the years in his capacity as an individual, he has championed the move towards Industrialization of Anambra State which will bring about massive job creation . As an international business man, Mr Ezeemo having traveled far and wide and been to many advanced states in the world, one thing is obvious and that is the prevalent role job creation played in reducing crime and other related vices in the society. The evidence are there for all to see that the industries set up in Anambra state singlehandedly by Mr Godwin Ezeemo is specifically on the rate of providing over 20,000 direct and indirect employment in the state. This is important as it has to a large extent provided a source of living to the workers and helped to keep so many youths off the street. Importantly, Mr Ezeemo's Orient Farms located in Aguata, boost one of the biggest Agric farms in with East, His fresh life water equally us another massive employment channel, Orient Newspaper and Orient printing press both in Awka the capital city of Anambra has immensely provided huge employment across fields of discipline. One thing is unique and it is the fact that the target is to reduce crime to the bearest minimum in the state and to achieve this Mr Godwin Ezeemo is concerned on engaging them with valuable jobs and this will inturn reduce the number of idle youths in our society, the saying that "a hungry man is an angry man" remains cardinal to the essence for his unrelenting push to make Anambra the industrial hub of Nigeria and Africa which is a journey he started over the years and will continue to keep the momentum till we can confidently say we have reduced unemployment to the bearest minimum. Meanwhile, the PDP frontline aspirants for Anambra governorship and CEO Orient Group Mr Godwin Ezeemo have joined other prominent Nigerians to to react to this latest development which many viewed as ideal in tackling insecurity in the country through changing of service chiefs. Ogbunka, an agrarian community in Orumba South Local Government Area, Anambra State has been in turmoil for the past two months owing to emergence of two traditional rulers at a time. OKECHUKWU ONUEGBU captures the moods of the people on why the impasse should be resolved for development to thrive in the community which has been without a monarch for 12 years. In Ogbunka, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra state, two persons are laying claims to the traditional stool. The duo, it was gathered are Igwe JohnMark Anyaoha and Igwe Forster Ihejiofor, all yet to receive certificate of recognition from the Anambra state government. Anyaoha, it was learnt, was crowned on December 2, 2020 by few persons in a traditional rulership election observed by a team from the Anambra State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, while Ihejiofor was crowned on December 5, 2020 and enjoys the support of almost the entire populace including the youths, the elders and ruling class of Ogbunka. As a result, the agrarian community endowed with both human and material including iron ore, granite and clay deposits, has not known peace as the crisis has degenerated into protests and counter proteicts with pressure on the state government to or not recognise any faction. A community leader, Chief Mathew Ezeabiakwa, who introduced himself as the traditional Prime Minister of Ogbunka said in a telephone interview that JohnMark emerged through a peaceful process that is in line with the chieftaincy constitution of Ogbunka and the Anambra state traditional rulers law. “Ogbunka has a constitution and Anambra state has traditional rulers law. You can find out the truth from the Commissioner for Local government, Town Union and Chieftaincy matters or the Special Adviser to the Governor on Town Union Matters. We followed the Anambra state law and the constitution of Ogbunka before crowning our king, Igwe Johnmark Anyaoha. There is no problem in my community. The Igwe’s cabinet crowned Igwe Johnmark according to the constitution of Ogbunka and the constitution of Anambra state law,” Ezeabiakwa added. According to him, “We wrote the village that supposed to produce the next Igwe and they sent two persons; Dr Forster Ihejiofor and Chief Johnmark Anyaoha and two of them completed forms before the Igwe’s cabinet. They paid N250,000 each. They appeared on 22 and 25th January, 2020 respectively.” The community has five villages; Awuka, Isiokpu, Umunebo, Agbana and Akwaoba. But the Chairman, Ogbunka Cabinet Chiefs, Chief Chris Ifeanacho, disputed Chief Ezeabiakwa's claim, noting that the faction went contrary to Ogbunka traditional ruler’s constitution (1985) as amended by electing JohnMark. “We just heard that few individuals gathered at night in his house and made him Igwe. It came as a surprise to us. I don’t even know where he was installed and how he was installed. There was no invitation to any person. We just woke up to hear that Johnmark is now the Igwe Ogbunka but the Igwe Ogbunka we know for now is Igwe Dr. Forster Ihejiofor and for peace to reign in Ogbunka, we are begging Governor Willie Obiano not to issue any certificate of recognition to the wrong person,” Ifeanacho stated. He said that Dr. Forster was installed by the representative Head of the most senior village which according to him, is Isiokpu in Ogbunka who incidentally is the custodian of Ogbunka traditional symbol of authority, the ofor Ogbunka, Chief Dr. Samuel Ikedi who he said convened the meeting for the installation on December 4th, 2020. “Our method of selecting a traditional ruler is enshrined in the Ogbunka Chieftaincy constitution of 1985 as amended. The constitution stated that Igweship in Ogbunka should be rotational, starting from Awuka village and in total obedience to this constitution, Ogbunka has given Awuka village the opportunity to select Igwe Ogbunka in line with what the constitution says . “The constitution also stated that the eldest family in the eldest village, will install Igwe Ogbunka and in line with the dictates of the constitution, the Isiokpu village has the staff of authority of Ogbunka (Ofor) and that was where the HRH Igwe Dr. Forster Ezenwa Ihejiofor emerged and installed to the knowledge of all elders and stakeholders. I have not seen the kind of crowd that trooped out the day he was crowned. He danced from Orie market to his father’s house and to his own personal house. “All the Ogbunka people, old and young, men and women, the youth, children were all present. The eldest family in Ogbunka, Umudiala, represented by Chief Felix Ike performed the installation ceremony. So we did not in any way derail from the constitution. We had another good person, Prof Promise Okpala who also indicated interest but stepped down for Dr. Foster,” he added. On why Ihejiofor was chosen by ‘all’, elder Chris Ifeanacho said, “Igwe Dr. Foster Ihejiofor singlehandedly transformed this community. He is a great philanthropist, not only here in Ogbunka but across towns and cities in Anambra state. He singlehandedly built a multimillion naira civic centre for this town, he built a cottage hospital here and another at Atani in Ogbaru council area of Anambra state. He gave scholarship to many, built houses for many youths and widows and sent many abroad for further studies. Igwe Foster Ihejiofor has over 200 graduates from this town, gives helping hand to Churches irrespective of denominations, he brought skill acquisition centre in Ogbunka for our youths and gives palliatives to indigent Ogbunka people annually, these philanthropy endeared him to our people and he is our Igwe” On his part, the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Community Liaison, Owelle Godson Obi appealed to the two factions and their supporters to remain peaceful while imploring the governor to hearken to the people cry not to issue certificate of recognition to wrong person. Obi, who is the former Chairman, Orumba South LGA and former State Assistant Treasurer of the state ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance ( APGA), said they were never against the government they have benefitted from but only want the people’s choice to prevail over the minority. "We are still pleading to this government to do the right thing and the right thing is to give the certificate of recognition to our Igwe-elect, Dr. Forster Ezenwa Ihejiofor. I am speaking on my personal capacity as Owelle Ogbunka and a foremost king maker in this town. Nothing is confusing about the Igweship stool of Ogbunka. I ruled with the late Igwe and we ruled very well. “ If there is a place where they gather and said that Chief Johnmark will be Igwe of Ogbunka, I, Owelle was not there and I will not part of such discussion. So there is no how Johnmark will be an Igwe of Ogbunka without the chiefs and king makers. One person does not make king. So, my appeal to our amiable governor is very simple because Ogbunka community is a lover of peace and all the things we do including this Igweship thing. We anchor it on peace because without peace, there will be no progress. The government should recognize Igwe-elect Dr. Foster Ihejiofor (Igwe Ohazurume )as the choice of the people of Ogbunka, “ he noted. Also, Ogbunka Youth Association in a communiqué issued at the end of its emergency Meeting held on January 15 2021 upheld the election of Ihejiofor and asked the government to abide by that. The communiqué was signed by General President Ogbunka Youth Association, Comr. Ezendu Chisom Ifeanyichukwu; and leadership of the five village youths namely, Awuka Youth Leader Comr. Okoli Chinedu; Isiokpu Youth Leader, Comr. Umeh Nnaemeka; Agbala Youth Leader, Comr. Anula Micheal; Umunobe Youth Leader, Comr. Anyacho Ignatius; and Akwuoba Youth Leader, Comr. Ezeabikwa Chidozie. A part of it read, “Ogbunka has been without a traditional ruler for the past 12 years, after the demise of our late Igwe Esiobu. On 5th of December 2020, the traditional leaders of the entire five villages of Ogbunka, the Amala, Titled chiefs, Red cap Chiefs and Kingmakers of Ogbunka, gathered in a general ceremony in the presence Ogbunka Development Union and the general public, to elect the true King of Ogbunka, HRH Igwe Ohazurume Chief Dr Forster Ihejiofor, Nka 1 of Ogbunka.
