Politics / Nigeria Doesn’t Need ‘leaders With Walking Stick’ – Abdulsalami by okrote4real: 7:48pm On Feb 10, 2022
Nigeria’s ex-military head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar has stated that the nation doesn’t need “leaders with walking stick”, hence, younger generation should be allowed space and opportunity to govern the country.

He spoke over the weekend at his hilltop country home, Minna, when a presidential hopeful, Prince Adewale Adebayo paid a consultation to him ahead of the 2023 general election.

The ex-leader reasoned that governance has gone digital now compared to their time, noting that the younger ones who understands the times, would better the society than the elderly whose mindsets were not compatible with the current realities.

According to him, it was a good development that youngsters were already interested in presidency, given the high number of those declaring their ambitions, adding that they would surely takeover from the elderly ones.

Commending the presidential hopeful for telling him of his ambition, Abdulsalami said Nigeria with a population of over 200 million needed serious leadership to make it greater.

“Like you rightly said the world is going digital and I believe the younger generation are more exposed internationally in ICT more than the older generation.

“I am happy that you are thinking of moving the country forward and I believe with your ideologies and your youthful and vibrant ambition, I think Nigeria is on the right part and wish Nigeria will be great.

“Thank you for finding me fit to come and visit me to tell me of your ambition. You can count on our support always trying to do the right thing.
He thanked the former minister for sports Barrister Solomon Dalung for bringing his friend to visit him,” he said.

Earlier, Prince Adebayo recalled how the ex-general midwived democracy in 1999 and expressed gratitude to him for relinquishing power to democratically elected leaders, adding that history will forever be fair to him.

Prince Adebayo said: “You are one of our greatest leaders, you are to us what Abraham Lincoln is to the Americans. Because Lincoln founded America, it wasn’t George Washington, he reformed the character of the country after the civil war and you after many years of military wilderness showed to us that you are an officer and gentleman and you kept your words which was not easy to do and you did it.

“But it wasn’t that day that you became who you are, you have always been a good citizen. You paid grievous sacrifices in the past when there were opportunities that you could be anything in the country to go abroad, or you stay here and become a medical Doctor, lawyer, you chose a profession where you had to give your life to the country.

“At that time you never knew you could be head of State. You thought you could be eliminated in the war front but you have given your life to the country.”

“If every youth lives their lives as you had lived that time, some will be head of State, some will not be but everyone would be a patriot and the country is built by patriots not by people in government and the calamity that we suffer in the country is not the misbehavior of people in Government, it is the effect of the disbelieve that it has created on the minds of the people and the generational inheritance of that doubt that things can be good.”

Politics / 2023: Pro Atiku Groups Reject Former VP, Seek Power Shift To South by okrote4real: 12:15pm On Feb 10, 2022
Ahead of 2023 presidential election, pro Atiku groups, under the auspices of Coalition of Concerned Groups on Power Shift to the South and the Need for Younger Candidates to Emerge Come 2023: A National and Patriotic Call, Thursday, dramatically made U-turn to reject the former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, from contesting in the election as they decided unanimously to seek power shift to South.

The groups made their stand known in an address singed by their leaders; National President, Middle Belt Network For Atiku, Luka Pam, and Secretary General, Middle Belt Network For Atiku, Madaki Yakubu; National Coordinator, North 4 North Support Group for Atiku, Mohammed Garba, l and National Secretary, North 4 North Support Group for Atiku, Abubakar Sanni; National Coordinator, Turaki Arewa Vanguard for Atiku, Musa Abdullahi, and Deputy Coordinator, Turaki Arewa Vanguard for Atiku, Rabiu Ibrahim; Leader/Convener, Southwest Development Frontiers, Femi Osabinu, and an Co-Convener, Southwest Development Frontiers, Olufemi Lawson, during a press conference held in Abuja.

The statement reads in part, " We are in a position to present an unbiased representation of the pulse and mood of the nation.

"Nigeria, unlike any other country in Africa that went through colonialism, through a coming together of interests coalesced under the banner of the amalgamation of the northern and southern protectorates to form the current entity.

"Today, more than at any other time in her history, the country's unity is under threat by s collection of centripetal forces, a situation which can only be addressed by equitable opportunity at aspiring for the leadership of Nigeria, to give these two regional blocs a sense of belonging to what is today known as the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

"Today, in the face of ongoing insurgencies and separatist movements feeding various sentiments that have left the average Nigerian with low morale and uncertainty over the future of the country, it is only fair that there is a power shift to the southern region.

"There have been several calls to that effect, and we hereby wish to lend our voice to those calls, with It is our considered opinion, with Nigeria’s continued corporate existence as a united country under threat, that it is only fair in the interest of fairness and equity rather than majority rule, for power to return to the southern part of Nigeria.

"We are, by this media briefing, calling on any political party interested in national unity come 2023 to do the needful on this fundamental patriotic call. Having sampled opinions of the everyday Nigerian, across board using different scientific and informal methods, we join our voices and stake our integrity on this demand for power shift to the southern part of Nigeria come 2023.

According to the groups, "We are not unaware that some northerners are aspiring to occupy the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the coming general elections slated for 2023. While these aspirations sit in comfortably with the letter of the 1999 constitution, they negate the spirit of same constitution which recognizes the principle of federal character in appointments into public office, though it does not expressly bar such persons from aspiring to lead their country.

"In the interest of the spirit in which the 1999 constitution (as amended) was framed, taking into full cognizance the foundations upon which this country was built, power needs to shift to the south to show good faith and help to heal the decades old wounds of the nation, which are getting more pronounced by the day.

"Furthermore we make a clear and undiluted call on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to give second thoughts to his desire to contest for the office of president in the elections again in 2023. While Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has served the nation with distinction, as evidenced in the fact that we have been his supporters for years, it is also undeniable that at 77 years of age going into this race, it will be a mismatch of national priorities to support his quest, taking into consideration the unique interplay of circumstances currently confronting our country.

"Nigeria needs a young and more energetic unifier, who will be able to handle the rigors of being physically present in crises spots to make the physical and psychological statement of government being in charge and committed to finding lasting solutions to our national challenges.

Having been around for decades and served at different levels, up to the highest levels of government as a very influential vice president, we believe Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has done his tour of duty in the front row of national affairs.

"It is now time for him to take a back seat and play the role of elder statesman, the billings of which he has lived up to. His role, going forward, should be of providing guidance to the younger ones across ethnic, religious and partisan divisions to help build a consensus of what Nigeria should be and how she ought to go about becoming all she can be in the comity of nations.

The further stated that, "We are also not unmindful of the fact that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar abandoned the party structure of the PDP and his support groups post 2019 elections; a clear betrayal of the trust reposed in him as an encapsulaion of the sum of their legitimate aspirations and hopes for Nigeria.

"We are equally not blind to the optics of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s preferred public association with members of the topmost echelons of the Nigerian elite, showing he has lost touch with the reality of the suffering masses of Nigeria, who are bitten by the current bugs of the economy and the potential drifting of the political ship of state.

"As a professed lover of the east of Nigeria, having even gone as far as taking a wife from that region, we urge Alhaji Atiku to substitute his personal ambition with overt support for a candidate of eastern extraction.

"The time is now, if we must save Nigeria, for a younger candidate to take the saddle and take back our country from a particular set of Nigerians who are in their late seventies and eighties. The time is now for a new thinking to guide Nigeria in the direction that is befitting of a 21st century society, as the giant of Africa and Africa’s largest economy, to play a leadership role in African affairs and in the comity of nations as a whole.

"Our members, in their numbers across the country, are on standby in the various political parties and consulting from outside of the parties to ensure that south eastern presidency is achieved in 2023. This demand of ours is not an attempt to malign the character of any individual, but a patriotic call based on the mood and need of the nation at this critical moment in the life of Nigeria.

In conclusion, the group pointed that, "We believe that Nigeria must get it right and those who have most benefitted from Nigeria must pay back by putting national interest above personal ambition.

"The era of individuals holding god-complex in projecting the belief that they have all the answers to the problems of 200 million people spread across over 300 ethnic groups is over; the serious business of nation building to compete effectively internationally begins now and we will accept nothing short of this position."

Politics / Kaduna Youth Leader Says Wike Is Overated by okrote4real: 9:38am On Feb 10, 2022
Youth leader accuses Wike of insensitivity to Southern Kaduna people's plight, He's Overrated, Says Bagudu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Youth Leader of Southern Kaduna State, Bagudu Joseph, has accused Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike of being insensitive to the plight of Southern Kaduna people.

Joseph, who spoke to newsmen in kaduna on Thursday, criticised Wike's recent visit to Kaduna where he failed to visit and identify with the southern kaduna people.

He described the governor as an overrated leader who demonstrated clearly lack of capacity as a National leader in the party

He said that PDP members, especially those from the southern region, were disappointed in Wike, who neither visited, nor addressed any issue concerning the region.

It will be recalled that Wike was on a visit to the state on Monday.

''One would have thought and expected that Wike, who is not just the governor of a state, but a statesman and a political leader in the PDP and the country, should spare time to identify and condole with the people of southern kaduna over the unabated killings that have taken a genocidal dimension,'' Bagudu said.
-
According to him if not for the resilience, doggedness and dedication of the southern kaduna region to PDP, the party would have been dead and buried a long time ago.

''Southern Kaduna region holds the soul of the PDP in the state since 1999.

''Instead of Wike, as a national figure, to appreciate our efforts, he resorted to praising the PDP over its performance in the last local government elections in the state, which would not have happened if the party had been dead.

''We expected Gov Wike to visit southern kaduna as he did in Benue State, invite the political leaders for at least a meeting on the sidelines of his visit.

''Instead, it was just another political patronage to quotas that continuously feast on our political sweat and labour as a zone and a people in the PDP,'' he said.

Bagudu said the people of the region, especially the youth, were setting the records straight in that regard.

''We are left with no option than to put the records straight out there that this narrative has to change.

''That we will no longer be held bound to these worn out paths of accepted successes, this generation of southern kaduna PDP members, supporters and faithful alike, will henceforth demand that our reward be directly proportional to our investment.

''Anything to the contrary will be challenged frontally. This is a clarion call on our political leaders across board to rise to the occasion.

He called on Wike to as a matter of urgency redeem his image before southern kaduna people, or they would conclude that he was actually overrated. -

''And for those PDP political so called heavy weights in kaduna State, it's high time they checked what time it is, as it will no longer be business as usual,'' Joseph declared.

Aluta News reports that the youth leader is one of the strongest voices from southern kaduna region.

He has held so many youth positions such as the National Youth Leader, Southern Kaduna People's Union (SOKAPU) and National President, Southern kaduna Youth & Students Forum SKYSFOM, as well as the Vice President, National Youth Council Of Nigeria(NYCN), among others.

“Santuscom agro investment company limited (RC: 1439777) is an agribusiness company operating in rice cultivation, processing and packaging, for the past five years. Our brand OGOJA RICE has been a market leader enjoying a significant proportion (60%) market share within the rice value chain in cross river state. It is long grain, highly vitalized and 100% stone free.

“We received the money from Bank of Industry (BOI) on the 31st of December 2021 in line with the disbursement agreement between our company SANTUSCOM AGRO INVESTMENT COMPANT LTD and the BANK OF INDUSTRY (BOI), the loan is specifically for the up scaling of our rice milling facility, according to the agreement contained in our offer letter dated 21st July 2020,the repayment on interest on our loan starts immediately the facility is disbursed and we are in defaults already from the 31st of January 2022 and risk being black listed by the bank of industry as a result of the unlawful post no debit/freezing of all funds in our account by SunTrust Bank.”

According to the letter, “We have made all efforts to reach out to SunTrust bank for a possible resolution of any issues that has necessitated the bank to act in this manner, but all efforts have fell on deaf ears, in fact we have written to the MD of the bank to take action, but no response

“SunTrust bank issued us with a bank guarantee and meeting all conditions including a fee of N6,225,000.00 (Six Million, Two Hundred And Twenty Five Thousand Naira) as bank guarantee fee, APG and VAT, provision of collateral documents of our property in cross river state valued at over N900,000,000 (Nine Hundred Million Naira) and also with an instruction for the bank to also consider an asset debenture of machines in our factory, all efforts to put the bank on the table to see reasons to lift the unlawful post no debit on the account has been ignored by the bank

“We here by request for an immediate investigation and resolution to enable us commence our business and meet our repayment obligations to the Bank of Industry (BOI).”

Meanwhile, the MD of Santuscom Agro Investment Company Limited, said, his company has written through his legal team, DO Ariku & Co to the Managing Director of SunTrust Bank, on releasing the company’s account and money but now awaiting the bank's response.

The legal team in the letter is claiming the payment of N50 million as damage for the alleged illegal blocking of it's account with the bank saying the action has take an adverse toll on the company's business fortune.

However, he also said the bank has no court order to block/freez the company’s account, he said the company will file a law suit against SunTrust Bank for the unlawful action.

The letter dated February 9, 2022 to the bank's MD with the subject "Request to unblock Santuscom Agro Investment Company Ltd account number 00023866699 domicile with your bank", reads in part, "It is our brief to demand that you unblock the account immediately, and you pay the sum of N50 million Naira into the same account as damage within one week commencing from the date of receipt of this letter, failure of which we shall have no option other than to commence legal action against your bank."

Chief Ofana lamented further that as a result of the bank's action that the company has lost the sum of $1.5 million in a business transaction that has been concluded for the exportation of Nigerian rice to the Gambia.

It is also about to loose its quota of rice paddy allocated to it in the just concluded rice pyramid launch by Mr President.

He noted that Santuscom was allocated 10,000 bags of paddy rice at a subsidized rate geared toward crashing price of rice in the market but it couldn't meet up with it's financial obligations due to the frustrating action by the bank.

While condemning the action of the bank, he argued that such kind of action of the bank was part of the things hindering the success of the agro industrialisation and revolution policy of the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government.

Business / 2023: Csos Debunk Fake News Against Emefiele by okrote4real: 4:15pm On Feb 09, 2022
...10,000 groups ready to support CBN Gov if he declares

Over 1,000 civil society organisations under the auspices of Coalition of Civil Society Groups (CCSGs) on Wednesday rose in defence of the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Godwin Emefiele, describing as fake news reports making the rounds over alleged presidential ambition.

This is just as the groups hinted that over 10,000 civil society groups across the federation would declare support for Mr Emefiele should he decide to run for president in 2023, noting that the group consider him as fit and most qualified for the top office.

The groups in a statement jointly signed by the President, CCSGs, Bassey Etuk Williams, and Secretary General, Abubakar Ibrahim described as false, baseless and downright malicious a statement credited to a faceless group on the person and office Mr Emefiele.

While applauding the achievements of the CBN under Emefiele in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMWs), the small farm holders, the groups also noted his effort towards assisting our industries to meet-up with international standard in the quality of goods produced for export.

Stressing that today, many Nigerians have benefitted from wonderful policies of the CBN such as the Youth Entrepreneurship Development Programme (YEDP), Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme (AADS), the Agri-business/Small and Medium Enterprises Investment Scheme (AGSMEIS). These policies have impacted positively in the lives of many Nigerians. Jobs have been created and millions of Nigerians are happy and grateful.

The statement tagged COALITION OF CIVIL SOCIETY GROUPS CALLS FOR CAUTION OVER THE SPREAD OF FAKE NEWS AGAINST CBN GOVERNOR reads, "The attention of the leadership of the Coalition of Civil society Groups has been drawn to a false, baseless and downright malicious statement allegedly given by a faceless group, against the person of Mr. Godwin Emefiele, his office and functions as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria vis a vis the race for who becomes president of the federal republic of Nigeria in 2023.

"We wish to state here that we are not in the business of dignifying wild and wishful statements that only have a basis in the realm speculation, but it is important to set the records straight in the interest of defending the interest of an important national institution from the potent danger posed by the spread fake news.

"Indeed fake news is a threat all over the world and it is on this basis that we are putting out this unequivocal statement, as a nonpartisan and nongovernment organization that has a clear mandate to ensure accountability of public institutions to the citizens."

It stated further that, the authors attempted and failed woefully in trying to combine unrelated issues and ended up showing their hand as sponsored mercenaries against the people of Nigeria by calling into question the integrity of a national institution like the CBN.

And that, If the sponsors of the group understood the meaning of fair play, they would have realized that all Nigerians of the prescribed age and without any other constitutional limitations can aspire to become president. While we are not in any position to comment on the desires of the CBN governor to run for any office in Nigeria, as we are not his spokespeople, we wish to state unequivocally that it is his legitimate right to aspire to run for any office just like any other Nigerian citizen by following the constitutionally prescribed route to such office.

The statement stressed that, "The Nigerian people are unaware of any announcement by Mr. Godwin Emefiele to the effect that he is running for the office of president of Nigeria and it is not only unfair to him but also to over 200million Nigerians to try to keep any qualified citizen from running for office. It is unacceptable to employ blackmail as a tactic to keep qualified Nigerians out of the race to lead their own country: and there can be no legal or moral question that Mr. Godwin Emefiele meets fits the bill of being qualified, even if his choice of entering the race is a personal one.

"To have referred to a leading member of staff and former Managing Director of Nigeria’s biggest bank by assets, as a “failed banker” betrays both a lack of understanding of simple facts and an overwhelming high amount of bile against progress and development for personal gain.

"It is a globally acknowledged fact that Mr. Godwin Emefiele came into the saddle at a difficult stage in the economic and political history of Nigeria. That the economy has continued to run, without disruption to major government services is down to the extraordinary measures adopted by the government’s banker under the leadership of Mr. Emefiele.

"To try to paint the CBN with a partisan brush is nonsensical and reeks of desperation by enemies of the state to cast aspersions on the integrity of such an important institution. We call on these groups, as we are well aware that many of their ilk have been mobilized to further derail the serious reforms that have been implemented by the CBN for sustainable management of the economy in the last 6years.

It therefore called on the said group to retract their statement and apologize to the nation and the CBN Governor for their malicious act, while urging others like them to remain in their hideouts, as we shall not hesitate to push for the full weight of the law and the power of citizens to be deployed against them in the interest of the continued growth and sustainable development of Nigeria.

"This stand by CCGS was declared during a , in an address read pointed that since the return of democracy on May 29, 1999, there has been “an unwritten convention in the country for power rotation between the North and South."

Politics / APC Develops Template For Sharing Party Structure Between Ganduje, Shekarau Camp by okrote4real: 8:34am On Feb 06, 2022
The All Progressives Congress, APC, has developed a template for sharing party positions between factions led by the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje and a senator representing Kano Central, Ibrahim Shekarau.

The duo had locked horns, fighting over the control of the party in the state.

Rising from an emergency meeting summoned Saturday night by the APC Caretaker and Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni, the party resolved to send a committee to Kano to ensure compliance with the new sharing template.

In a statement after the Saturday night meeting, spokesman for Mr Shekarau, Sule Yau Sule, confirmed that the party has developed “a template of ALL INCLUSIVENESS” for the APC in Kano.

He said the details of who gets what would be made available to both sides on Monday.

“A high powered committee from the secretariat to be constituted and dispatched to Kano to ensure strict compliance and implementation of the template to be given on Monday,” Mr Sule added.

It is not clear whether the legal tussle will continue after the eventual implementation of the template.

This is the best decision you have taken as a man. I left my parents house before before I rounded off with my studies, that has really helped me today. Make sure you stay positive and focused on your goals. The truth is , you must come across bad friends (females especially). But there would be that single girl that would encourage you to excel. To lose her. Go and win and come and tell us the story of how you started off your life

No fewer than 25 fighters of the Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP, fleeing airstrikes of the Nigerian military have drowned in a deep river located within the Marte axis of the Lake Chad axis in the North East.

“However, those who survived the blast at Bukar Mairam and Jubularam, fled and attempted to cross a river within the Lake Chad axis. It was in the process that about 25 of them got drowned ” he added.

Crime / Arewa Groups Urges IGP To Unmask Gulak Killers, Uche Nwosu's Abductors by okrote4real: 5:04pm On Jan 30, 2022
A Coalition of Arewa Civil Society Organisations, CACSO, has called on the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali-Baba, to order investigation into the killing of PDP stalwart, Ahmed Gulak, who was murdered by unknown gunmen in Imo State.

The coalition, in statement signed on Sunday by its Covener and General-Secretary, Dr. Haruna Jagindi and Amb. Danjuma Shetima, also called on the IGP to look into the arrest of Imo governorship aspirant, Uche Nwosu, who according to them was unlawfully whisked away by masked security operatives.

Some the group’s prayers before the IGP include the unearthing of, “the true identity of those that assassinated Honourable Ahmed Gulak should be revealed including their sponsors and their motives, because report confirms that Gulak was not the only occupant of the vehicle when he was assassinated.

“That the identity of those behind unknown gunmen should be revealed to Nigerians to help take precautions.

“That adequate sanctions should be meted out to those that had anything to do with this ugly situation no matter how little their participation maybe.”

In the case of Mr Nwosu’s abduction, the group sought the IGP to investigate the motive behind the abduction and the findings public.

Others prayers included the identification of those who sanctioned the operation, whether within the police hierarchy or among notable politicians

“That the armed men that invaded the Church be unmasked and adequate sanctions be meted out to them having engaged themselves or allowed themselves to be used illegally and to break professional ethics as stipulated in The Nigeria Police Act 2020.

“This actions if considered by the Inspector General of Police, will go a long way in stemming future occurrences of this kinds of unnecessary scandals, and also gain the support of the citizens for the police in the fight against insecurity,” the group declared.

The statement said: “Precisely on 30th May, 2021, Honourable Ahmed Gulak, an illustrious son of Adamawa State was assassinated in Owerri, Imo State by men of the underworld.

“Nigerians, especially those from the northern part of the country are still reeling from the pain of losing such an illustrious son, whose participation in nation building cannot be overemphasized, especially at this critical time that Nigeria needs all the uniting forces it can garner to our nation overcome it’s myriad of challenges.

“The situation in Imo State was further compounded by the Gestapo style of some police officers that invaded an Anglican Church during a service in an acclaimed bid to arrest Chief Uche Nwosu, former governorship aspirant in the state.

“These elements did not just invade the Church, but they did while fully masked up just like the popular unknown gunmen that we have in the state. These elements had nothing to identify or differentiate them from criminal elements as they were neither in uniform nor having any form or means of identification on them to prove they were security agents as required by operating standards all over the world.

“Eye witnesses had no other option than to conclude that Chief Uche Nwosu had been kidnapped because they could not point to anything tangible or evidential to identify his abductors as security agents.

“This scenario filtered the mainstream and social media for several hours before a counter statement by Imo State Police Command that what actually happened in the Anglican Church was not a kidnap but an arrest.

“The long period that it took the Spokesperson of the command to talk to Nigerians especially family, friends and associates of Chief Nwosu on what actually transpired is a pointer to the fact that there is a bridge of professional conduct in his arrest and also the fact that there is a wide communication gap among police hierarchy in Imo State, hence the need for discipline and stringent punitive measures to serve as deterrent and also rekindle the faith and trust of the citizens in the efforts of the police and our security agencies in tackling the menace of insecurity in Imo State and Nigeria as a whole.

“So, we are calling on the Inspector General of police to look into the two devastating scenarios that happened in Imo State as we have mentioned.

Politics / Insecurity: PDP Mocks, Berates Buhari For Cancelling Trip To Zamfara State by okrote4real: 8:45pm On Jan 28, 2022
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) berates President Muhammadu Buhari for cancelling his planned visit to troubled Zamfara State.

The Party dismisses President Buhari’s excuse of not travelling to Zamfara State because of inclement flying weather, when he had the option of travelling the short trip from Sokoto to Gusau by road.

We ask, did Mr. President cancel the trip to Zamfara State out of fear of terrorists? Was Mr. President, an Army General, with all the security apparatus under his command afraid to travel by road because he was not sure of his security as well as the dilapidated state of our roads under his watch?

From Sokoto to Gusau, the Zamfara State capital is about 206 kilometers, a journey a leader who has the interest of the people at heart and who is sure of his security could have undertaken by road.

President Buhari ought to have reassured Nigerians by travelling to Gusau, instead he opted for a video broadcast in which he promised the troubled people of the state that he looks “forward to a more weather-friendly period when I will visit”.

This is another sad demonstration of the President leading from behind against his own promise and commitment to Nigerians to lead from the front in the fight against terrorism.

Such attitude to governance speaks volumes as to why our nation is in a shambolic state under the Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration which is largely laidback, unconcerned and corrupt.

If truly the people matter to Mr. President and his Party, the APC; if truly President Buhari and the APC believe in Nigerians and feel their pains; if truly they are very concerned about the wellbeing of the people, then Mr. President would have taken it upon himself, with all the apparatus of power at his disposal, to visit and empathize with the people of Zamfara State who are daily traumatized by terrorists.

Our Party is not particularly surprised because this is a Party and President which is always absent in critical areas of our national life. Such absenteeism from responsibility is the hallmark of the APC. Even when prodded to visit such areas, President Buhari will always dwell on excuses, blame game and buck passing.

Nigerians have not forgotten the sad episode of the Agatu Massacre in Benue State wherein President Buhari, on March 12, 2018, told a bewildered nation that he was not aware that the Inspector General of Police was not in the area as directed by him.

In Mr. President’s words, “I’m not aware that the I.G did not spend 24 hours in the state as directed by me, I am getting to know in this meeting.” Such was a miserable demonstration of abdication of leadership.

Indeed, such resort to leadership by proxy is inexcusable and completely unacceptable. Our nation needs a leadership that is active, people-oriented, humane, functional and result-driven; a task which the APC as a party of propaganda, deceit and lies cannot deliver on.

The PDP sympathizes with the people of Zamfara State for being made to waste their meagre resources to organize for a Presidential visit only to get an embarrassing and uninspiring video broadcast.

The PDP however calls on Nigerians not to despair but remain resolute in rallying on the platform of our Party in our mission to Rescue and Rebuild our nation from the stranglehold of misrule. They must keep hope alive as help is on the way from the PDP, come 2023.

Signed:

Hon. Debo Ologunagba

e) Training programme in Anesthesia (Awaiting Accreditation) and the sponsorship of more than
100 members of staff to undergo several training programmes that will
have impact on service delivery (such as Medical Physics, Bsc Nursing,
Epidemiology, ENT, Psychiatry Nursing, Anaesthesia)

g) Internship training programmes in radiography, physiotherapy and nursing

h) Employment of two consultants in dentistry.

And for the first time, the Centre now has three Licensed Radiation Safety Officers and a
Medical Physicists and a Neuro- Surgeon

It is worthy of note that FMC, under Adamu also seeks to empower and partner with other health care providers in Nasarawa State through the;

- Initiation of Health services coverage in Wamba, and Doma towns.

- Collaboration with the Institute of Public Analysts for the purpose of
establishing
advanced science research Laboratory.

- Collaboration with the T.Y. Danjuma foundation for the conduct of free Cleft and
facial deformity surgery. The list is endless.

Aluta News sought to know how this unassuming medical guru was able to achieve all these in so little a time.

His doggedness, penchant for service to humanity and perfection, helped him in reaching this enviable height.

It is worthy of note that Adamu is a man that carries people along and so he is not alone in recording thes great successes.

All this would not have been possible without the support and cooperation of the hardworking staff of the center and the top management.

One of the top management staff supporting the CMD is Dr Samson Adegoke, Head Fnance and Accounts.

Adegoke is a technocrat, very verse and prudent in the management of scarce resources in the centre.

It will be recalled that in 2020 when the Honourable Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Enahire, visited the hospital to commission the infectious Disease Center, it was a galore of commendation for the management for what they were able to achieve with the resources available to them.

Also in the year 2021 the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba, also on a working visit to the centre, in a bid to ascertain the utilisation of COVID-19 Intervention Funds by health institutions, also commended the hospital for the judicious utilisation of the fund as disbursed to them by the ministry of budget.

From the foregoing, there is no doubt that the management of Federal Medical Center, Keffi, has demonstrated the capacity to deliver on its mandate and should be encouraged to do more.

Politics / Taraba Muslim Umma: The Advocates Of Equity Must Exhibit Clean Hands by okrote4real: 10:37pm On Jan 24, 2022
By Mohammed Umar Gassol

Often it's been said that he who comes to equity must do so with very clean hands. It therefore raises the question: What is the equity principle?

The principle of equity acknowledges that there are historically underserved and underrepresented populations and that fairness regarding these unbalanced conditions is needed to assist equality in the provision of effective opportunities to all people and groups.

Islam buttresses this valid Truth by declaring that complete equality among all mankind, regardless of one's faith, skin color, language, gender or ethnic background is sacrosanct and fundamental. The Holy Quran uphold that the whole universe is dominion of almighty Allah and all the people are his creatures. Everyone is born equal and will die equal. ... Verily Allah is all-knowing all aware.”

The above verses in the Holy Quran resonate in the minds of every true adherent of Islam who holds dear the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon Him) to practice it indeed not lip service and the pointing of fingers.

Late last week the Taraba State Muslim Umma
led by its Khadi, Abdul-min Abubakar went on air and accused the Taraba State government of marginalization against Muslims in the state, the group lamented that all efforts to reach out to the government to address the anomalies, "have turned into watershed".

In as much as I the writer who is also Muslim is concern , I don't intend to hold brief for the government of Taraba State and it's policies, but it is important to go back to our recent history and reset events into proper perspective so we can actually understand how the state grew organically and gradually and got embroidered into the intricate web of religious politics currently choking it and it's citizens to near comatose.

25 October 2012 in Jalingo — When news of Governor Danbaba Danfulani Suntai's death in a Cessna 208 aircraft he was piloting crashed close to NNPC depot as he tried to bring the plane to land at the Yola International Airport filtered into Jalingo town Thursday night, a section of the mostly Muslim quarters of the town erupted into spontaneous wild jubilations and street parties till day break without any interruption from Muslim Umma and well-meaning elders.

As Governor Danbaba was flown out of the country for better medical attention, Acting Governor Umar Garba UTC who took over the mantle of leadership in the background of the Muslim street parties that greeted the fall of Gov Danbaba and began to assert dominance and consolidate himself in power. The Taraba State Muslim Umma moved quickly to hijack him as their own.

Before long, Umar was beginning to see himself as the emancipator of Muslims in what he told everyone was the historical injustice done to his people in the state. He was complaining to everyone that Muslims were marginalized and that he would correct that. His position was however far from the truth as the state, before Umar’s coming lived in peace and had enjoyed religious harmony. Few months into his rule, the entire southern Taraba and parts of central was engulfed in constant bloody skirmishes.

Each time Acting Governor Umar travels back even from nearby Zing or Nukkai, there must be a large provocative welcome dance party with loud music blearing out and eulogizing his persona as the Savior of Muslims and greatest leader as his boss recuperate abroad. Large number Christians feeling excluded started to fume and form resistant groups.

By the time the Supreme Court sacked the State’s acting governor, Garba Umar, and ordered the reinstatement of Abubakar Danladi , a former deputy governor who was impeached before Mr. Umar took over on 23 November 2014 , Umar had successfully polarized the state into two equal camps , separated by a very deep gulf of mutual suspicion, animosity and vicious fanaticism. Christian and Muslim fanaticism has risen to a peak never seen before in the history of the state. The hate and tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife.

Governor Darius Ishaku coasted smoothly into power and before long relationship with his immediate benefactor Sani Abubakar Danladi who was compensated with a senatorial seat in return for his role turned frosty and he decamped to the All Progressive Congress APC.

The run-up to the 2019 governorship election in Taraba State was clearly APC's for taking as Tarabans discontent and disappointment with the Darius's administration and performance was widespread. Political analysts had zeroed in on several strong southern Christian candidates to pick the party's ticket and split the southern votes thereby effectively sealing the fate of the incumbent governor Darius and defeating him in the pools.

But the political campaigns of 2019 was like no other, the Muslim Umma had vowed to install one of their own, they traversed the entire north and Abuja, lobbying Emirs and influencial Muslims to make a case for a Muslim flag bearer in the APC in Taraba. To the chagrin and amazement of pondits, their efforts yielded results, Alhaji Sani Abubakar Danladi who's only qualification was that he was a Muslim emerged flag bearer of the APC to contest against Governor Darius Ishaku against all expectations.

These sequence of events juxtaposed with the lobsided 99% Muslim appointments and recruitments from the state by the federal government without any protest by the Muslim Umma calls into question the rights credentials of those individuals advocating for equity. What is good for goose should also be good for the gander. For emphasis and posterity, it is important to enumerate some of these brazen impunities for record purposes;

(1) In 2015 the Taraba Muslim Umma in conjunction with Alhaji Garba Umar UTC ignored Islamic tenets and other promising Christian candidates to influence and support the emergence of late Senator Aisha Alhassan against other promising Christian candidates.

(2) From 2015 to date, the Muslim Umma have not only championed the appointment of three all Muslim ministerial slots: Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan, Engineer Sale Mamman and Mallam Muazu Sambo, but cornered all federal government palliatives and intervention programs exclusively .

(3) Out of the 12 federal government appointments from Taraba State, 10 are all Muslims and only 2 Christians. It was on record that federal agencies received a total 28 petitions from the Taraba State Muslim Umma and other Muslim interest groups against the two Christian appointees, calling for their removal and replacement with Muslims.

(4) Few months ago , the Taraba Muslim Umma resumed it's customary search for another Muslim APC Gubernatorial candidate for the forthcoming 2023 election without recourse to the feelings of the Christian members of that national ruling party as usual.

(5) With the above brief summary we can all see that the Taraba Muslim Umma despite it's officials pocketing heavy monthly financial inducement from the States PDP government lacks moral rights to make public pronouncements about marginalization because it needs to purge itself of the same malady it is accusing the Taraba State PDP government of. That the APC today earned itself the toga of an "Islamic party" in the state is due largely to the activities of the Muslim Umma's suffocating dominance. Christian members of the APC in Taraba State are to be seen and not heard.

As election bells commence to ring in few months time, it will surprise many if these same Muslim Umma doesn't move again and try to hijack the APC like they have done in the past, and install another Muslim as it's flag bearer. The fortunes of Taraba State and indeed the nation shall continue to suffer for as long as religious leaders insist on using religion as a tool to rule instead of guidance.

Politics / 2023: Csos Call On APC, PDP, Others To Zone Presidency To South by okrote4real: 6:00pm On Jan 24, 2022
…submit letter to political parties

Civil Society Organisations under the auspices of Coalition of Civil Society Groups, CCSG, Monday, called on the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, and the leading opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to zone presidency to the southern part of the country in 2023.

This was contained in two separate letters addressed to the National Chairmen of the APC and PDP, which were signed by President, CCSG, Bassey Etuk Williams, and Secretary General, CCGS, Abubakar Ibrahim respectively and submitted to the two political parties’ chairmen at their national headquarters in Abuja.

In the same vein, the Groups also extended the same call to other accredited political parties in the country to in the interest of peace, unity, equity and justice zone their presidential tickets to the South in the 2023 general election.

According to the group they are the umbrella body of CSOs in Nigeria, and are out to work towards promoting interventions intended to uplift and sustain democracy, good governance and national unity. The Coalition does these through advocacy, sensitisation and lobbying.

The letter reads in part, “This letter is one of those efforts aimed at lobbying for a southern president in the forthcoming 2023 presidential election. This, in our opinion will guarantee sustainable peace, national unity and strengthen our democracy.

“Chairman Sir, the Coalition in our last expanded executive meeting, considered the current political situationin the country and the need for the Nation’s unity not to be threatened because of 2023 elections, hence our resolve to get involved and save the country from a possible instability and crises.

“By this patriotic call, we do not intend to undermine your right as a political party or your party’s constitution. We respect the wishes and aspiration of your party and the citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; however, we are persuaded by the state of the nation as it concerns the unity and stability of our dear country.

“At this point in our political history, we deem it a worthy sacrifice and a patriotic display of love for the country if political parties can jettison all other interests and ambition for the peace, unity and stability of our democracy. It is important to note that we all desire a safe society, peaceful atmosphere and harmonious relationship for development and growth of the nation.

“Sir, it is important to note that, since inception of civil rule in 1999 the country has witnessed zoning arrangement or rotational Presidency between north and south just to keep the polity stable. There is no doubt that we are one united country and have the same sense of compromise.

“This call becomes necessary and obligatory for us as a nation to move forward. It is also sacrosanct for fairness sake and for continuous unity of the country. We are convinced that power should naturally rotate between the North and Southern region of the country. We also believe that it is by avowed commitment to this arrangement that we can stop the current ethno-religious division being experienced in the country.”

The letter further reads, “Our visit today is to lend our voice in support of the call for power shift to the southern part of Nigeria; we hereby urge the great men and women of the PDP to heed to this patriotic call. The PDP no doubt has a great role to play in ensuring that we remain one united and indivisible nation before and after 2023 elections.

“It is on the strength of the above that we march here today in our thousands to submit our position on the imperatives of a presidential candidate of southern Nigeria extraction come 2023.

“On power rotation we stand!”

Meanwhile, the letter for the PDP was presented to the National Organising Secretary, PDP, Umar Bature, who assured that the letter would be presented to the leadership of the party, while at the APC national secretariat, one of the Directors received the letter from the group.
