Health / Board Vows To Sanitise Unlicensed Health Practitioners by okrote4real: 12:19pm On Jan 22, 2022
... commends Buhari's efforts

Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN), has vowed to sanitise and stamp out quacks in the sector.

The CHPRBN, which oversees the affairs of more than 500 stakeholders and heads of health institutions, also lauded President Muhammadu Buhari and the Federal Ministry of Health, for their support for the sector.

Mr Sule Toma, Chairman of the board, stated this during the quarterly meeting of the Heads of Health Institutions on Saturday in Abuja.

Toma said it was a tradition of the board to hold quarterly meetings with provosts, principals and coordinators in the sector, to brainstorm on prevalent community health issues.

According to him, it is also CHPRBN's mandate to organise professional development training/programmes for different cadres of community health practitioners in the country and to facilitate policies and guidelines in the administration of schools, colleges and training institutions under the board.

He noted that the aim was to ensure professionalism, as well as to ensure that Nigeria's community health attained globally accepted standards.

Earlier, Mr Bashir Idris, Registrar/CEO of the CHPBRN, expressed displeasure over the poor performance of students in the health sector in 2021, and urged that all hands be on deck to ensure better performance this year.

''I do not wish to have a repeat of such, and we will continue to ensure zero tolerance for examination malpractice,'' Idris said.

Participants have expressed satisfactions with the deliberation and commended the board for the panoramic leadership style.

Politics / 2023: Coalition Of Csos Resolve To Support Southern Presidency by okrote4real: 2:17pm On Jan 21, 2022
...call on political parties to honour zoning presidency to southern states

AHEAD of 2023 general elections with heightened political permutations and strategies, Civil Society Organisations under the auspices of Coalition of Civil Society Groups, CCGS, Friday, resolved to support southern presidency.

This stand by CCGS was declared during a media conference held in Abuja, where the President, CCGS, Basset Etuk Williams, and Secretary General, CCGS, Abubakar Ibrahim, in an address read pointed that since the return of democracy on May 29, 1999, there has been "an unwritten convention in the country for power rotation between the North and South."

The Groups also called on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and others to in the interest of unity, equity and equality zone their presidential tickets to the southern part of the country in the 2023 general election, saying that the north having held sway since 2015 it would morally and political right to zone presidency to the South.

According to the group, "This is lawful and can guarantee peace and unity of the country" and that "there won't be either APC or PDP if there is no country called Nigeria."

The Group said: "We have watched with keen interest various agitations across the zones of our federating units, and we come up with agenda of championing and clamoring for Power shift to the South come 2023.

"There is no doubt that the North has had its fair share of the country leadership and now it is time to zone the Presidency to the Southern part of Nigeria which in our own opinion deserves it.

"Rising from our expanded National Executive meeting, we resolved to get involved and join in the call for power shift to the South come 2023.

"It baffles us that as the debate intensifies, most of those involved don’t know what is generally at stake especially as it relates to unity of the country.

"We have witnessed sharp division along religion line ahead of 2023 general election. The current security situation and supremacy of a region is also affecting and shaking the unity bedrock of the nation.

"Political gladiators across the divide have taken up arms and fight via exchange of words on power rotation. Some want it to remain in the North, while others want it back to the South for equality sake."

The group however, expressed dismay over agitations rising on rotation of the presidency, and according to it, "Presidential election in Nigeria is highly influential and powerful as we all confers greatest sense of belonging to the federation on any ethnic or geopolitical zone that produces the President.

"This no doubt has deepened the agitation for power shift by various regions and we thus resolve to implore all major political parties to have a deep think ahead of their convention and zoning by ensuring that the country remains united and sense of belonging is given to all by zoning the Presidential tickets to the Southern Part of the Country come 2023."

Politics / Greed, Desperation And Lust For Power:sen Emmanuel Bwacha As A Case Study by okrote4real: 10:31pm On Jan 20, 2022
Greed, Desperation And Lust For Power: Sen Emmanuel Bwacha As A Case Study In Southern Taraba Politics

By Ismailla Dauda

Mahatma Gandhi’s famous quote stating that "there are enough resources to meet human needs, but not enough to meet human greed," was never more true.

Politicians have proven to be greedy for power, ethically motivated with all their words and actions in office, only to gather support again during election year to continue in power. For most, there is no such thing as having the people in mind. Rather it is only their political survival that dominate their thoughts.

As 2023 draws near, Taraba State and indeed Jukunland shall once again witness a beehive of frenzy political activities in their most bizarre and sometimes ludicrous spectacle.

There's no dismissing the fact that as things stand now today ,the topmost contenders in the two most prominent frontline political parties, the People's Democratic Party PDP and the ruling All People's Congress APC, only two names can be mentioned with all certainly as individuals who hold firmly in the lead on their own turf as frontrunners: Governor Darius Ishaku in firm grip of the PDP and Chief David Sabo Kente holding tightly to the ruling APC in southern Taraba.

This does not in anyway dismiss the other southern Taraba contenders as underdogs, especially Senator Emmanuel Bwacha who has made history as the only Jukun politician that has spent 12 solid unbroken years as Senator representing southern Taraba.

The modern history of Southern Taraba politics can never be complete of course without the mention of the events of 2015 which produced the present government in Taraba State led by Gov Darius Ishaku.

For the sake of posterity and record, we must all recall that in the middle of June 2014 ,a group of community opinion leaders, elders and other interest groups kick-started the push for a southern Taraba candidate that culminated with the choice of Chief David Sabo Kente as the first consensus candidate for the zone after several attempts in the past ended in confusion and disappointment.

These unanimous choice didn't seat well with some politicians mostly based in Abuja , Senator Emmanuel Bwacha and Senator Joel Ikenya who felt threatened promptly mobilized the Abuja group to mount pressure on General TY DANJUMA to reopen the gate for a fresh round of nominations, accusing Chief David Sabo Kente of bribing the selection committee. The new grouping produced Gov Darius Ishaku and once again secured Senator Emmanuel Bwacha's much coveted Senatorial seat to his satisfaction.

Immediately Gov Darius assumed office in Jalingo, it was Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, Hon Mark Useni and co who have stayed long in the Jalingo political corridor of power that tutored the new Governor how to rule by tactically impoverishing local Politicians and citizens through deliberate emasculation and staving them of funds until election year. They lectured him that the trick has worked for them for years to maintain their solid hold on power, and that he should try it and thank them later.

Senator Emmanuel Bwacha sure understands the political schemings and dirty hatchet jobs of the poor agrarian state like the back of his hands. To prove his political usefulness as an individual who climbed from nothing to becoming a billionaire of no means repute in politics within a short period of time, he spared no resources in the deconstruction of the opposition APC in the state. He drove the APC to near extinction until the reemergence of Chief David Sabo Kente who was frustrated out of the PDP after expending heavy resources alongside others to set up the party in the state.

It didn't take long for the political marriage between Gov Darius Ishaku and Senator Emmanuel Bwacha to hit the rocks as there's a saying that those who ride on the tiger's back usually end up in it's stomach. Gov Darius Ishaku, having consolidated himself firmly in power wants to chat a different course all together as his own man .

The sudden rebirth of Gov Darius Ishaku set in motion perhaps the biggest political dilemma and battle of survival for Senator Emmanuel Bwacha who has always excel in politics without much struggle using government machineries and resources for years. Neck deep in political trouble waters, desperation becomes the order of the day.

Many southern Taraba citizens which the Senator has represented for many years continue to express shock and surprise that suddenly their reclusive Senator has become accessable , generous and nice to a fault. As the titanic battle between the two giants continue to escalate in the run-up to the election year proper, the people of Southern Taraba continue reap the benefits of the fisticuffs long denied them. The chicken may have indeed wandered back home to roast.

Recognizing that you may not be the best person for the job anymore and that your time on the stage is up is incredibly difficult to admit by most political leaders, especially after they feel they may have amassed stupendous wealth and influence and invested blood, sweat, and tears into the the lucrative political field.

Most reject that little voice in the back of their heads shouting at their front and center to quit the stage, and that time is up . Most times the voices of Court jesters and hypocritical followers who's main survival depended on the master will drown out the voice of reasoning warning that time is up!

This scenario shall play out in few weeks time as the biggest political beneficiary of all time in Jukunland, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha is set to decamp to the opposition APC in Taraba State, a party he maligned, demonized and drove to near extinct few years ago. It will surprise and indeed astound many who will watch Emmanuel Bwacha coming into the political party he was on record to have called " a Muslim party and party of demons, darkness and blood suckers".

Further more,it is worthy of note to emphasize that after being frustrated out the PDP by Senator Emmanuel Bwacha and co , Chief David Sabo Kente single handedly brought the Social Democratic Party SDP to Taraba State and nurtured it to a very prominent opposition block in the 2015 elections before decamping to the APC to build it once again from the scratch, a party which was almost nonexistent in southern Taraba, and grew it to a formidable force to be reckon with in terms of spread and acceptability amongst the southern people.

Political watchers are now of the opinion that unless the southern Taraba leaders of thought and church leaders on who's back Senator Emmanuel Bwacha rose to power move quickly to intervene and block , the "spoiler" role the Senator is perfecting now, he activities may throw the entire southern Taraba into a huge political conflagration that may diminish the political fortune of the entire zone for a long time come because of the greed of one man.

Many political analyst are quick to point out answers to several questions that have been agitating the minds of the people of Southern Taraba and the state in general that : if it's not mischief what does Senator Emmanuel Bwacha want again in the APC after an uninterrupted 20 years in power with the PDP?

The conclusion by most people is that the Senator may perhaps have an exaggerated opinion about himself like most African leaders who feel they must rule forever and die in power, and no one is qualify to access power except themselves or everything must be destroyed.

Many observed clearly that the Senator is not coming into the APC to contest and win election, but rather in furtherance of his well known character of jealousy and envy to repeat once again what he did to Chief David Sabo Kente in 2015: frustrate his ambition as the brightest and single individual with the most delegates in the party in southern Taraba as things stand today.

Many are wondering and questioning the desperation of Senator Emmanuel Bwacha who seems to have thrown all caution into the wind and allowed himself to be blindfolded completely with greed and covetousness for power and things of the world.

The saying that no champion reigns forever holds true, it takes the grace of the Almighty for a leader to recognize that the time is up on the stage and it's due time to lead from behind.

Will the people of Southern Taraba allow the once reclusive and now visible senator to continue to eat his cake and still have it ? Only time shall tell, but from all indication Senator Emmanuel Bwacha has failed to read the handwriting clearly written on the wall that the time for retirement has come.

Politics / National Convention: No Position Yet On Zoning – APC by okrote4real: 8:45pm On Jan 19, 2022
The Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has refuted releasing any zoning arrangement for the National Convention slated for February 26, 2022.

The committee, after its 19th regular meeting, which lasted for two days, released the timetable and schedule of activities for the convention of the party.

Addressing journalists after Wednesday's meeting held at the Party’s National Secretariat, the Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, said at no time did the committee discuss the zoning arrangement for the National Convention.

Akpanudoedehe: “I am here to debunk the fake news going around on the social media that we have zoned offices. We are yet to meet on the issue of zoning.

“The news and rumour making round are fake news. We never discussed the issue during our deliberations. People should disregard the story because it is fake news. It is not true.”
Politics / Food Security: 106 Csos Hail Buhari, Emiefele Over Launch Of Rice Pyramids by okrote4real: 2:26pm On Jan 19, 2022
…commend farmers’ resilience, productivity amidst challenges

As Nigeria’s agricultural sector gradually takes centre stage of the economy, 106 civil groups under the auspices of Coalition of Civil Society Groups, CCSG, Tuesday, hailed President Muhammadu Buhari and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emiefele, over official launch of highest rice pyramids in Abuja.

The groups led by the President, CCSG, Bassey Etuk Williams, made the commendation at a press conference, which include Rural Integrated Development Initiative; Women Right Alliance; Initiative for Leadership and Economic Watch; Young Visioners Association of Nigeria; Sustainable Human Development; Restore Nigerian Integrity Initiative; Centre for Policy; Advocacy & Development; Network of Young Female Leaders; Pan African Society for Social Economic Change; Women Rights Alliance;

Also, Centre for Development Values; Knowledge and Development Initiative; Network of Young Female Leaders; Pan African Society for Social and Economic Change; Generational Citizen for Better Leadership; Centre for Policy Advocacy & Development; Crown Youth Initiative of Nigeria; Rural Integrated Development Group; Hold the Door for Others Initiative; Education Right Initiatives; Youth Empowerment Concern, and others.

According to Williams, the rice pyramids were made possible as a result of the drastic decision of the President to focus on the agricultural sector by introducing Anchor Borrowers Programme via the CBN to actualize the food security and sufficiency agenda by Mr. President.

He said: “The recently unveiled largest rice pyramid by President Buhari shows that Mr. President’s agenda on food security is yielding required fruits. The rice pyramid would not have been possible if not for the initiative of the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele that introduced Anchor Borrowers Programme to actualize the food security and sufficiency agenda of Mr. President.

“There is thus need to celebrate President Buhari and Godwin Emefiele for food security and self-sufficiency in rice. The advent of Anchor Borrowers has been able to assist small scale farmers to increase production and supply of feedstock to agro- processors. It’s a loan without collateral to farmers been supervised by CBN, and here we are with the resultant outcome of the input.

“Farmers and especially rice farmers have recounted their gains following the output and major achievement of the Anchor Borrower’s Programme of CBN. The programme has increased bank finance to agricultural sector, and has enhanced capacity utilization of Agricultural firms involved in production and as well improve the well-being of the farmers.

“The CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele has no doubt change and transformed the agric sector with the results of the various intervention programme in the sector. The increase in banks credit growth was driven solely by policy of deposit ratio introduced by CBN Governor. More than five hundred thousand beneficiaries have benefited from the anchor borrowers programme of the CBN.

“This intervention also spans around youth investment funds, real sector and health sector. These are major areas that the CBN Governor has intervened and Nigerian are seeing the impact of the various intervention to alleviate poverty.

“With the laudable achievement recorded and showcased today, we the undersigned applaud the good initiative of CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele and President Buhari for food security and sufficiency. We hope we will have more laudable programs like this to further take our people away from poverty.

Meanwhile, the group also commended farmers’ resilience and productivity amid security challenges, “This is evidently shown in the largest rice pyramid, amidst insecurity in the land, the farmers were still able to utilize the finance to farm.

“The Anchor Borrower’s programme of CBN has no doubt yielded expected outcome as we can now talk about diversification of our economy from oil but now Agriculture as the country will soon be on the map of rice exporters to other country’s by this earn foreign earnings. This rice pyramid reminds us all of groundnut pyramid we used to have in the North.”

Hon minister of State for FCT, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu has embarked on satellite town projects inspection and evaluation ahead of commissioning.

Aliyu, while on tour of the projects, gave President Muhammadu Buhari credit for the laudable initiatives.

The Minister was represented by Mr Obinna Francis, Coordinator Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD), who inspected the many projects on Friday, in Abuja.

She explained that the aim of the projects' inspection and documentation was to asses the number of projects successfully executed by the Buhari administration across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to her, the satellite towns project is close to the heart of the president because of his genuine love for the masses.

''Remember that this project has a direct impact on the life of the masses in the communities,'' she said.

Also speaking, Francis said the minister had directed him to ensure that every project across the satellite towns was properly documented.

''In the end, completed projects across the six area councils, aimed at improving the welfare of the communities, shall be unveil

''The Buhari administration is doing so much in the rural communities that a lot of people are not even aware,'' Francis noted.

According to him, so far 13 projects spread across the six area councils have been successfully executed and completed.

He said most of those projects were sighted at Abaji, Gwagalada, Bwari,Kuje, Karshi and Kubwa.

The STDD boss directed personnel of the department to notify contractors of the projects to ensure 100 per cent completion without further delay, ahead of Commissioning.

He commended some of the contractors for deligent jobs, but frowned at the attitude of others for failing to mobilise to site.

The coordinator further threatened to recommend heavy sanctions against companies not meeting up with their contract obligations of ensuring timely completion.

Francis said the era of collecting public funds and converting to personal use was over.

Southern Nigerians ignoring police job application: Frank Mba
“Interested applicants are urged to log on to the NPF recruitment portal to register before the expiration of the new deadline.”

Police spokesman Frank Mba has raised the alarm over Southerns’ refusal to join the ongoing online police recruitment exercise.

In a statement on Friday, the force spokesman lamented citizens from the southern part of Nigeria were ignoring the police recruitment exercise.

Mr Mba disclosed that the force decided to extend its ongoing registration process to enable southern states to meet the required quota for respective states.

He explained that the decision was taken “to ensure equal opportunity and even spread applications, particularly from states in the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones and Lagos state.”

The police spokesman disclosed that of the 81,005 applications received nationwide as of January 7, 2022, only 1,404 were from the five states in the South-East.

He added that only 261 Lagosians had so far joined the recruitment exercise.

Mr Mba encouraged state and local governments, religious bodies and pressure groups in the South-South, South-East and Lagos to prevail on indigenes by encouraging them to seek a career path in the Nigerian police.

“Interested applicants are urged to log on to the NPF recruitment portal to register before the expiration of the new deadline,” he said.

Mr Buhari has been criticised for his lopsided appointments favouring northern Muslims.

Wole Soyinka, Matthew Kukah, and Eyinnaya Abaribe had warned that Mr Buhari’s nepotism could further worsen the country’s fragile cohesion and inflame ethnic and religious sentiments.

The attention of His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe state and Chairman APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has been drawn to newspaper reports, claiming that the party will review congresses in Gombe state.

Governor Buni want to make it abundantly clear that he has at no time, said or directed anyone to state on his behalf or the party, anything pertaining the said review.

The report is a baseless speculation and a figment of the author's imagination that does not reflect in any way the position of the party.

"It is pertinent to note that, we have gone a long way in reconciling the two prominent members of the party in person of His Excellency the Executive Governor of Gombe state Alh. Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and his brother, Sen. Muhammadu Danjuma Goje.

"We condemn in strong terms any action deliberately concocted to sabotage the new peace and true reconciliation among these critical stakeholders of the party.

"The party appreciates all those contributing to the sustenance of this reconciliation in the interest of the state and party" Buni said.

The Chairman once again called on supporters of Governor Inuwa and Senator Goje, to support the peace, reconciliation and brotherhood among the stakeholders.

"The party will continue to build true reconciliation and cement all differences to promote unity in the party" Gov. Buni said.

Crime / I Hope To See My Son Before I Die, Father Of ‘underwear Bomber’, Abdul Mutalab by okrote4real: 12:31pm On Jan 07, 2022
Alhaji Umaru Abdul Mutallab, former Chairman of FirstBank PLC and UBA, has said he hopes to see his son, who is serving a life sentence at a United States prison.

Farouk, his son, was arrested after attempting to detonate explosives hidden in his underwear while aboard a Northwest Airlines Flight 253, en route from Amsterdam to Detroit, Michigan, on Christmas Day, 2009.

Speaking during an interview on Trust TV, Alhaji Mutallab said he was in touch with his son, but under strict prison guidelines.

He said, “Sometimes, he calls twice or thrice in a month. As a matter of fact, his mother, brother and sister were with him about two or three weeks ago. They visited him under very strict prison guidelines, but we will keep on praying to Almighty Allah. Maybe one day in my lifetime, we would see him back. But it is a situation whereby he has three life sentences, plus 40 years. It is a lot.

“But only Almighty Allah will bring us into a situation of seeing him in this world with his siblings here in Nigeria.”

When asked whether he was among the 11th richest men in Nigeria, the former Minister and Chairman of Jaiz Bank said he would not consider himself one of the richest in Nigeria, he said, “I am not a poor man, neither would say I am one of the richest persons in Nigeria, but I thank God for what He has given me. I’m grateful to Him. But I will not consider myself the 11th richest man in Nigeria by any chance.”

Travel / Famous Photographer, Ayemoba Godswill Takes Streets Photography To Oghara by okrote4real: 11:17am On Jan 02, 2022
For some times now, street photography, a genre of photography that records everyday life in a public place has been one of the biggest aspect of photography. The very publicness of the setting enables the photographer to take candid pictures of strangers, often without their knowledge.

Though, this time, the photographer wants the people to feel his intention and the memory lasting longer with them, hence, capturing and featuring it on the streets where passersby could see and enjoy it.

Even though street photographers do not necessarily have a social purpose in mind, they prefer to isolate and capture moments which might otherwise go unnoticed which this particular photographer has decided to showcase the pictures on the streets of Oghara.
According to him, he explained that the use of pictures as instrument in depicting the lifestyles of people has been around for a long time, and has turned out to be the chosen medium in his “My People” series, with the first edition titled: “My Oghara People,".

This one of a kind inspiration is made famous by Nigeria’s award winning and internationally recognised photographer, Ayemoba Godswill during his project in Oghara Kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria.

When speaking with the Godswill, he stated that "This street exhibition is one of the first of it’s kind in Delta state, and arguably the biggest in the country. Life size images are displayed around Lakeyard cultural centre along Waterboard road in Oghara.

"The people are availed the opportunity to be photographed and exhibited among themselves in art print sizes of 72 x 124 inches," he added.

In wetting the appetite of art lovers, he further hinted that the images will be shown in galleries around the country in Lagos and Abuja from February 2022 to April 2022.
