Empredboy: LAGOS – As the impact of the closure of Nigerian land borders continues to bite, more than 98 firms operating in the country have relocated to other countries in West Africa in the past three weeks, while others have lost millions of naira and are near collapse.
Comrade Saviour Iche, the national president of the Association of Micro-Entrepreneurs of Nigeria (AMEN), made the disclosure while speaking at a press conference in Lagos at the weekend.
He stated the said the companies moved to other countries because of the negative impact the border closure was having on their businesses, adding that many others will follow suit if the situation persist.
He said that operating environment in other countries in west Africa are better, adding that governments of other countries offer incentives and support to entrepreneurs.
He said the closure of the borders has had some positive effect like increased revenue for the government, but argued that the negative impact was greater on the general economy.
According to him, there are many Nigerian businesses that export their goods and services across Nigerian borders, adding that most of these companies are losing millions of naira on a daily basis.
Iche disclosed that many of them have reduced their operations and their number of workers, adding that if the situation continues, many of them will close shop soon.
How much is the money? Is it worth the energy and resources to go after it? If not, I’ll advise you let go and see it as a loss, Though not totally a loss, it’s a lesson for your next job.
The best revenge is for you to succeed on your next job. I pray God will promote you and it may be that she is not meant to be part of your success story.

Former Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Bisi Akande, says every Nigerian lives in fear, warning that a nation that remains like this may celebrate its 60th independence anniversary but will never celebrate 100 years.
Speaking yesterday in Lagos during the public presentation of a book, “The Bisi Akande Phenomenon?” edited by Lai Olurode and Dhikhrullah Yagboyaju, he said Nigeria was most enjoyable 50 years ago. The former governor of Osun State stressed that it was high time Nigeria examined its laws which he noted were “military decree-based”. He said he believed in restructuring as being advocated in some quarters but restructuring is difficult in Nigeria.
“The phenomenon of the country must be examined among three things and the first is our education. It seems to me that our education is colonial. It ends in literacy without numeracy,” he suggested. He said education of Nigerians in every community must be science-based to advance the technological base of the community. He said, “Secondly, I think our laws are military decree based and these military decree based laws cannot be used to sustain democracy. As long as we use these military decree based laws, our democracy will never prosper.
“Thirdly, our religions are mostly imported and because of that, we seem neither to be good Christians, good Muslims or good idolists. We merely live in fear and when there are problems, we have no laboratories to go, so we retire to churches and mosques for vigils. “A country that remains like this may celebrate its 60th independence anniversary but will never celebrate 100 years.
I think until all these three are looked at and addressed, or let me use the word; restructured – I believe in all these ethnic and political restructuring, but they are difficult to restructure.”
Who invented Clothes? Who designated Trousers, Buba and Sooro, Agbada etc for Males and Blouse, Skirt, Iro and Buba etc for Females? Are they stated in the Bible? Where? Last time I checked, Adam and Eve where wearing the same thing, the same design...Gen 3:21.

Amagite: The G.O of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, on Sunday said women who put on men’s wears are abomination unto God, reports.
According to the outlet, Kumuyi, who was preaching on the topic: “The Inner and Outward Beauty of Kingdom Citizens,” said the Bible specifically warned that men should not put on women’s wear neither should women put on men’s wears.
He noted everybody would frown if a preacher come to the pulpit putting on a woman’s wear as people would think he was abnormal, adding that the society seemed to appreciate women putting on men’s wears than men putting on women’s wears.
He said the standard of God would never change even if the world would change, emphasising that God frowned at any woman wearing men’s wears or men putting on women’s wears.
According to him, some Christians felt inferior because they were not copying the standard of the world, while challenging such people to keep on obeying God’s word rather than the world.
Kumuyi stated that the outward beauty that the world seemed to appreciate bred pride and arrogance, saying that the inner beauty gotten through Salvation in Christ should be coveted by all as such would lead to heaven.

The International School Ibadan, is not a public school. That is run by a public institution does not make it a public school
1. The Tuition Paid is far beyond what obtains in public secondary schools, that is if they pay tuition at all.
Why didn’t they protest about the tuition if truly it was a public school.
2. Entrance examinations was independently organized by the school unlike the public school that really solely on the general examinations to admit students.
There are so many other factors that makes it very clear to any right thinking person, the fact that the school is a private school.
herkeem: The International School Ibadan (ISI) and the Hijab Ban.
ISI is a secondary school under the control of the management of University of Ibadan. The school has been in the news in the last few days for its refusal to allow willing female Muslim students use Hijab on their uniform. The situation has degenerated to the extent that the Muslim students were shut out of the school among other unwarranted actions of the school as represented by the Principal, one Mrs Phebean Olowe.
I have read and listened to different opinions on the development and I am not sorry for the positions I take on the matter. Before I conclude with my positions however, I have a few questions for the Principal in question as well as anyone with position same as or similar to that of the school management:
1. Does the wearing of Hijab by the willing female Muslim students portend any danger/evil for their colleagues (who don't), the school or anyone for that matter?
2. Is it against the law of the land for the students of such a 'public' school to wear Hijab?
3. Does their observance of that aspect of their constitutional rights rub or deny anyone of his?
If the genuine answers to the above questions are NO, then I am of the opinion that the assertion that the school's reactions are borne out of hatred for Islam and the Muslims must be very true and this has to stop and stop NOW.
And for those who might be asking, does their not wearing Hijab portend any danger? Yes, it does and contrary to the opinions of those that know not, not wearing Hijab makes female muslims less Muslims because it's not a flexible commandment. If your wish is really not to make them non-Muslims, let them use what makes them the Muslims that they are.
I call on all the concerned stakeholders and well meaning people of the society to intervene in good time to allow our female Muslim students join their colleagues without any further victimization, molestation, discrimination or disdainful treatment of any kind.
Leyin aponle, abuku lo Ku o........... Tori a ko le wa sa fun keke lo kolu moto.....
With reference to write ups concerning wearing of Hijab and subsequent protest by selected Muslim Parents in International School Ibadan (ISI), I hereby make my submission below: To start with, it's a pity that Muslims do preach that Islam is a Religion of Peace. All what was said in the write ups by Prof Ishaq Akintola (President of Muslim Rights Concern {MURIC}) and Prof Salisu Shehu (Deputy General Secretary, Nigerian Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs {NSCIA}) are all FICTIONS. I don't know why they just don't embrace peace and live with others peacefully with tolerance. And to say that these people spreading all these false news and information are Professors. Their Professorial status was merited via their scholarship and thus are more informed and knowledgeable and should not misinform or mislead others. They are people who are looked up to in the society for proper direction and guidance. The Secondary School, ISI was founded and established by a British-German Educator Kurt Hahn a Christian in October 1963 with funding from USAID, Ford Foundation and donation of land space by the Nigerian Western Regional Government. Most of the pioneer teaching staff were British expatriates’ educators from Gordonstoun in Scotland. The school is a co-educational Boarding and Day School, admitting pupils aged 10 to 16. It was primarily established to meet the need of finding a school with a world class standard comparable to schools in Europe and Northern America for children of expatriates, living and working in Nigeria. It opened its doors to pupils of both expatriates of diverse nationalities and highly placed Nigerians. The social setting that ISI provided attracted more patronage from people of all races. Also the principals who have headed the school have been mostly Reverend Fathers and one Muslim. The first Principal was David S. Snell (1963–1965) of blessed memory; followed by John Gillespie (1965–1968). The longest serving Principal was an Anglican clergy, Archdeacon J.A. Iluyomade (1969–1985) of blessed memory. He was also the first indigenous head of the school. After him was Rev. (Dr.) Dapo Ajayi (1986–1988) also of blessed memory, then Dapo Fajembola (1990–1991) also of blessed memory. Thereafter came the first female Principal, Esther Adetola Smith (1991–2004). After her was R.O. Akintilebo (2006–2007) who was the first Muslim Principal, Dr. M.B Malik (2007–2017) and Phebean O. Olowe (2017-present). It should be stated that between 2004 and 2006 when the school had internal crises and administrative issues a Non-Academic Staff of the University, Mr. Augustine Onwueme of Blessed memory was assigned by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Odejide as an administrator to manage the affairs of ISI. Mr. Augustine Onwueme was an administrator from June/July, 2004 until his demise in December 2005 on contract basis. The school dress code with the emphasis of no HEAD COVER means no scarf, beret or the hijab. Permit me to say that the wearing of Hijab is not on religious bases but cultural (way of life). The region where the mode of dressing emanated from was in the Middle East which is a desert and thus the need to protect their eyes from blindness due to the sand dust. ISI is a private school not funded by any Government or even the University of Ibadan. The University of Ibadan only manages the affairs and administration of the School thus informing as Chairman of the School Governing Council to be the appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the Institution. This is a school where a praying ground is provided for the Muslims to observe their prayers and if you must know it's because of the Muslims that the school closes on Friday by 12.30pm in other for Muslim students to observe Jumat and they are actually been conveyed to the Mosque in the University for prayers. Also on Sundays, as the Christian students have their Fellowship in school, The Muslim Student Society (MSS) of ISI has one of the staff of the school who comes around on Sunday to anchor the fellowship with them on ISI premises. The Islamic Religion Knowledge /Arabic Language Studies was introduced into the school curriculum by Mr. R. O. Akintilebo during his tenure. He initiated this by engaging tutors who came and teach the students on a part time bases. If ISI is discriminating as claimed by the writers, Mr. R. O. Akintilebo would never be employed to head the school as a Principal. His appointment was on merit as he was one of the teachers in the school. Please tell me, is there any discrimination against the Muslims as petitioned by the unrecognized International School Muslim Parents’ Forum (ISMPF)? Why is it so difficult for people to abide by the rules and regulations of a school? No one forced those clamoring for the use of Hijab to bring their kids to ISI. There are lots of Islamic Secondary schools in Oyo state where without any difficulty they can wear their Hijab. The man who started this madness Abdurrahman Balogun (Chairman of International School Muslim Parents’ Forum {ISMPF}, an association not recognized by the school authorities), in ISI who was distributing the Hijab to the girls at the school car park on Monday 12 November, 2018 enrolled his child last year into JSS1. This is his second year in ISI. Following day, Tuesday 13th November the school management had a PTA meeting and parents made their grievances known to the management. Funny enough some of the parents and the Alumni who attended the PTA meeting to speak were Muslims and they emphasized their displeasure by what their Muslim counterparts are causing in the school. I was at that PTA meeting (being a parent whose child has been attending the school for over three years) and I witnessed all that transpired. An email sent in by one Alhaja Basirat Banke Adeniyi was read by the chairman, Lawyer Kazeem Olaniyi of the recognized PTA in the school (also a Muslim), where she expressed her disappointment over the acts of the ISMPF and suggested by mentioning Muslim schools in Ibadan that these aggrieved parents can take their kids to, if they cannot abide by the rules and regulations of ISI. The culprit of this whole madness, Abdurrahman Balogun who wrote the petition about discrimination of the Muslim students in the school and the need to wear hijab was shut down by majority of the parents from talking, for disrupting the peace of the institution which has been established over 55years where the students are all tutored together irrespective of their religion or ethnic differences. Parents at the meeting were even asking what form of discrimination was experienced by these Muslim children, none was ever mentioned. The governing council however met on Wednesday 14 November and gave their final verdict that the school will maintain its status quo one of which is no wearing of any form of head cover and anyone who violates this should not be allowed inside the school premises or the parents should take such kids to other schools where it is permitted to wear any form of head cover such as hijab. The irony about this, is the fact that those parents who are headstrong about the decision of the Governing Council has instructed their daughters to wear the hijab thus hindering their entering the school premises and attending their classes. These are the girls seen outside the school gate with their hijab on, 8 of them in number. While other Muslim parents abided by the school authorities and Governing Council verdict, instructed their girls to remove their hijab so that they can be allowed to enter the school premises and continue with their classes. These other 8 girls have been attending the school without Hijab for years until their parents are woken from their slumber by this spoiler and enemy of peace, Abdurrahman Balogun whom was said to have established the ISI Muslim Parents Association Forum. An illegal association not recognized by the school authorities aside from the PTA. Funny thing is his own child is attending classes. Do you know why? His child is a boy while those who are supporting his cause have their kids to be girls and with the new rule of no wearing of hijab they are denied access into the school. I rest my case. But the question are: Will the wearing of hijab make their girls more brilliant or better still take them to heaven? If the foreign Christians who established the school had said strictly no other person of other religion except from Christianity should attend, maybe this problem would not have emerged. The Muslim parents who are supporting this cause some of them actually got educated through their attendance of mission schools owned by Catholics, Methodist, Baptist and Anglican. I went to St. Louis Girls Secondary School Mokola and the late Arisekola Alao's daughter Fatima who was a junior attended and her other siblings attended ISI. Also the Baale of Bodija Alhaji Rasheed Adesokan two daughters, Folake and Tolani attended my school (St. Louis) in fact Folake was my mate. Although she was taken away in her final year because Folake actually converted to a Christian of her own free will. We have Muslims sending their children to Christian Private owned Universities like Babcock, Bowen, Covenant, Redeemers and so on. Why can’t they agitate for wearing of Hijab in this private owned tertiary institutions, if they can clamour for such in ISI which is equally a private owned Secondary School. At least I know there are Muslim owned universities like Cresecent University in Abeokuta and Fountain University at Osogbo all in South West. One can go on and on about this. It's all optional and choice you don't have to force your own religion doctrines on others violating the laid down rules and then going about spreading false information of discrimination against Muslim students.

The principal DID NOT Ban... It has never been allowed from inception of the school, so you cannot be talking of ban. You wrote as if it was allowed before but they just woke up one day to ban it.
A PRIVATE SCHOOL is a PRIVATE SCHOOL... Don’t start inventing a new definition.
Moreover, there are options for you in term of Private schools.
I am 100% sure there are Muslims attending some of our Faith Based Universities Like Covenant and Bowen... Why don’t you tell the management of the schools that the Muslim students should be wearing Hijab abi Pudha sef....

Quickly I want to ask, how right or rather proper for a non-muslim, particularly Christians to accept food/meat gift from our Muslim brothers, especially the ones used in breaking the fast.. My Muslim close associates have been gifting that persuasively and it now looks discriminatory to them, I'm a Christian by the way and they are well informed on that.
However this thread is never for religious warring or insults from anyone/religion against another, it's for better interreligious knowledge and information.
Happy Ramadan fasting to our Muslim brothers..... If they are our Brothers like you said, Why not? You’ll expect them to accept your own abi? Abeg.... Shift joor

Godyke: After installing Wi-Fi are they going to provide them with the tablets and pads to use it with. Or Are they encouraging students and pupils to be using electronic gadgets and high end phones in school. To me this will further act as a distraction to their studies rather than aiding it. Not all students can afford a smart Wi-Fi enabled device and will create bitterness for those who does not have. We all know that nobody can control them when it comes to its usage, hence it will be abused. The government should rather empower the teachers on how best to utilize the internet to aid their teaching ideas by providing them with, digital audio visual equipments, electronic libraries and smart board that is internet enabled. The Wi-Fi should be passworded and known only to the teachers and staff members. This is my take.

etomama: WHERE DID WE GO WRONG? SOS LETTER TO THE VICE CHANCELLOR, UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN
We the entire students admitted into the Department of Psychology, Distance Learning Program of the University of Ibadan for the 2009/2010 have decided to reach you through this unconventional means having exhausted all avenue to have our grievances addressed by both the Department, and the Distance Learning authority. It's disheartening enough that we are still without our results in 2018 when we are supposed to have graduated in 2014/2015 academic session. As it were today, the whole essence of enrolling in the program for many of us is defeated. Those who needed the certificate to seek employment are stranded while those who desire to pursue higher degrees are frustrated! What is our offence sir? Some of us thought the Distance Learning program would be a shorter route to acquiring a degree, believing that our calender would be sacrosanct! For goodness sake we didn't enrol for a degree in medicine yet have spent 10 years on a 5 year program! We wrote our last paper in July 2015; three years after we are still without our results! What is happening? We may not attract the necessary attention because we aren't consider regular students. But we paid school fees and fulfilled the necessary requirements for graduation! We guess we are being taken for a ride because we can't organise ourselves for a protest. Sir, rather than play with people's lives why don't you consider closing down the Distance Learning Program. At least that would save prospective students from the wickedness and incompetence of a Department of Psychology.
SOS LETTER TO THE VICE CHANCELLOR, UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN We the entire students admitted into the Department of Psychology, Distance Learning Program of the University of Ibadan for the 2009/2010 have decided to reach you through this unconventional means having exhausted all avenue to have our grievances addressed by both the Department, and the Distance Learning authority. It's disheartening enough that we are still without our results in 2018 when we are supposed to have graduated in 2014/2015 academic session. The question is, WHO BROUGHT THE LIGHT? Or FROM WHERE DID THEY BRING IT FROM? ... lool
mayorkun: A Nigerian lady identified as Vivian Madujibeya has taken to her Facebook page and shared some photos of an 'evil' owl hired to attack her parents as the bird met its waterloo.
Here is how she narrated the story;
*****************
"Make una com help me thank God oo. He is truly an awesome God, I can't even thank him enough now, I am still shocked, cos I do hear of these things happening, but now I am a witness, because I just experienced it.
Truly evil is roaming around, its just for those that have not experienced it physically that would not believe cos it happens in the spiritual realm every sec and minutes.
I just want to thank God for saving my family last night from the clutches of the enemies, most especially my dad and mum, cos I don't know the kind of story I would have been telling this morning.
As about 12am my mum woke up to do her daily midnight prayers which she ends by 1am, and as of then there was no nepa power, and daddy was sleeping inside their own room, immediately after my mum finished her prayers, and went in, they brought the light, the next thing she saw was this Bird fly inside their room, to attack, fortunately for us my mum who doesn't see well without her glasses saw it and started shouting, then my dad woke up and started to battle it until he brought it down.
Now the question is, what would have happened if they hadn't brought the light?? Who knows what I will be saying by now.
I just want to glorify my God, because their plans has failed may him alone that has done this be glorified forever and ever. Amen! Please my bretherens let's us always pray, because prayers maketh the enemies plan to fail.
That's the very first sign that you care....When you have to voice it out that you don't care...hehehehehehe

Thank you ooooooo.... Injury to muscle is different from Stretching the muscle to be stronger. Until your muscle gets used to the exercise, the pain will be there... That's why you are advised not to take any analgesic after exercise. Definitely when you exercise for the first time your body will react that's why they Say "No Pain No Gain" .
PRISTINEMUSCLES: Very balanced piece of info. But in the strength training world the mantra "No pain No gain" still stands. Do you know why? Without pain your muscles can never grow with or without steroids. The "pain" is not usually discomforting, it is just like a kind of sweet bitter wave of heat radiating over the muscles being trained.
Teacherjobs: The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) yesterday said that presentation of certificates and degrees would no longer suffice for teachers’ registration. The TRCN Director, Professional Operations, Dr Steve Nwokeocha, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that teachers would now write professional qualifying examinations. “Teachers will no longer get registered by mere presentation of their certificates, but they will have to write professional examination. “Teachers are to resume professional qualifying examinations, and the models are being developed and finalised,’’ he said. Nwokeocha said the council was developing a standard syllabus as a professional body and would present it to stakeholders like National Universities Commission, among others, for validation. According to him, once it is validated, we will set a date for the examination, and from there henceforth, there will be no registration without an examination. He said that in 2008, a pilot examination was written and over 50,000 candidates wrote the examination in all states of the federation. The director said this would be the second edition of the examination, adding that the first was experimental and recorded huge success. He said that the council collaborated with the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in the first edition, stressing that it was written in the same manner that JAMB was written. Nwokeocha said about 25,000 out of the 50,000 teachers that wrote the examination failed and this was reflective of the quality of training that they were getting. “We had to suspend the pilot examination because the council did not have a syllabus at that time. “And people asked that a few more things like a model, among others, should be put in place before the examination will be conducted again,’’ he said.
He said that the council had done its research and had developed a standard model, syllabus among others. He added that the examination would be written twice yearly and that the council was making efforts to ensure standard and quality in the system.
Start from the so called already qualified members with re validation exam.. Stop creating barriers after you used just certificates to become members.
