Politics › Re: The End Of Apc's Fabricated Momentum by OLADD:
Very exciting piece. Virtually everything encapsulated by Femi Aribisala is evidently clear to Nigerians except the ever unrealistic APC supporters. But in addition to Femi's assertions, only poor students of Nigeria's political evolution would think APC/ Buhari stands a chance of ruling Nigeria (no matter the outcome of the forthcoming elections). For the benefit of hindsight, let's cast our minds back to the fates of late Obafemi Awolowo and MKO Abiola. The former was alleged to have lost his chance to rule Nigeria when he boasted during his campaigns that corrupt politicians would be probed if he won the election. Abiola in the same vein was said to have lost face with the West (the US in particular) when he consistently canvassed for REPARATION, a stance seen as an affront by world powers. No wonder his incarceration and eventual elimination was conviniently executed through local and international conspiracy. In the light of this, instead of learning from history, APC seemed to have taken its own recklessness too far by denigrating every Nigerian institution i.e the police, Army, DSS, Judiciary, etc through barefaced propaganda, falsehood, blackmail, intimidation, ridicule, unguided utterances all geared towards uncivilised push for power grab. So with enmity created with all apparatus of governance, it beats one's imagination for APC to nurture the idea of having a smooth sail to power by swiming against the tide. Those who live in glass house must desist from throwing stones.

Politics › Re: I’ll Inherit Huge Debt Profile, Empty Treasury – Buhari by OLADD: 11:37am On Feb 23, 2015
kolonigga:
LAGOS — PRESIDENTIAL candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has said that he would inherit a huge debt profile and empty treasury if elected president, expressing confidence that his wealth of experience would assist in turning the situation around.
He also stated that his party’s economic policies are conceived to be people-centred, adding that the country would for the first time in over three decades experience a truly pro-people Federal Government if elected.
Buhari said this in a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, APCPCO, Malam Garba Shehu.
His words: “It is crystal clear that our revenues are dwindling by the day and if we must survive, we cannot continue on this path of near absence of accountability, mismanagement, outright waste and jamboree that has characterised the management of public resources under the Jonathan-led PDP government.
“We can assure the mass of Nigerian people that help is on the way. We know that an APC controlled Federal Government will obviously inherit a huge debt profile and an empty treasury from this PDP Federal Government. We are confident of turning the situation around.
“It is apparent that the Federal Government has suddenly found itself in a bind with plummeting crude oil prices in the international market, but typical of a team that lacks capacity for anticipatory actions, the Federal Government has been running from pillar to post in a vain bid to stabilize the economy.
Buhari-london“Unfortunately, all conceived palliatives applied to save the nation’s declining economic indicators have merely scrapped the surface of the problems leaving the mass of Nigerians desperate, confused and hungrier.
“With external debt standing at more than $10 billion and our internal debts at more than $50 billion, it is without doubt that President Jonathan is driving Nigeria into economic wilderness. This should be a cause for concern for all well-meaning Nigerians, more so when the Federal Government responses to these rising economic challenges have, at best, been casual.
“Emblematic of this casual, non profound approach to the management of the national economy is the Central Bank of Nigeria’s devaluation of the national currency in November 2014 while retaining the Retail Dutch Auction System (RDAS).\
“Dramatically, just under three months after that devaluation, the CBN, obviously buffeted by unanticipated dynamics in the foreign exchange market, announced the closure of the RDAS and the Wholesale Dutch Auction System (WDAS). This shows clearly an uncoordinated template in the management of the national economy.”

Bunch of fools speaking to their deluded members. A Nigerian adage says if anybody promises to provide cloths for you, the first thing you should do is to assess what such person is wearing. What am I bringing across here? Nigerians should ask APC how prudent and efficient they are in administering the states controlled by them. Lagos state that prides itself as APC's bragging right is currently indebted to the tune of N160 billion with virtually nothing on ground to justify such huge debt profile, is that the template or manifesto Buhari is bringing to Federal administration? Ogun state govt constructed a pedestrian bridge installed with air conditioner and the APC is brainwashing Nigerians with plan of blocking wastages, what wastage is more condemnable than installing AC in a pedestrian bridge? Tinubu corners approximately N2billion Lagos state money into his pocket on monthly basis through Alpha Beta in the name of tax collection thereby impoverishing the state Inland Revenue Service which is statutorily responsible for such task, what corruption is greater than that? One can go on and on exposing APC and Buhari's hypocrisy but a word is enough for the wise. Nobody should be fooled by Buhari's rhetoric, it's mere fallacy.

You must be out of your sense to spew this rubbish. Endeavour to tell Nairalanders how the military was used to force Ekiti people to thumbprint their ballot papers for PDP. Thank you Odumakin for dissociating yourself from the madding crowd. Contrary to the views of our brethren in APC camp, our support for Mr. President is tied entirely to his truthfulness, uprightness, decency, civility and respect for the basic tenets of democracy. In the other vein, we would not fall for the antics of corrupt, deceitful, propagandist, divisive, pretentious, violent, murderous and lawbreakers in APC who parade themselves as agents of change. Agreed that Jonathan as president has his shortcomings as a mortal, however, our history as a nation shows he's the best in the script of our political existence. APC is nothing but gambolling fraud.

GEJ has done alot in just two weeks oooooo, his army retook almost 4towns from bokoharam, in just a week he comission two power plants, in the same two weeks navy acquired 4 ships in the same 2weeks army rescued several kidnap girls in the north. Now the big question is if GED could achieve all this in just 2weeks or so, then why didnt he, for the past 5yrs plus sum weeks in office? so 9ja army is this strong to take on bokoharam and they didnt all this whille were they sleeping, so becus of election he is now taking tins serious, lolzzzz government must take nigerians as fools oooooo.anyways be it GED or MGB they are all the same talk about green snake under green grass u r refering to GED talk abt despirado then that will GMB.
Try to be objective in your reasoning. The success been recorded over Boko haram lately was partly due to the support of Chadian, Nigerien and Camerounian authorties who had hitherto been reluctant to key into Nigerian Army operations. Don't forget also that our attempts to acquire arms were frustrated by US and SA until we approached other more friendly nations.

I decided to comment on this largely to educate those who are williny on the subject matter. Egbin power plant is located at Egbin/Ijede end of Ikorodu axis. It is among the power plant sold to investors in 2013. Its present owner is SAHARA who is in joint venture with KEPCO. The plant has 6 units of 220MW each since inceptuon in early 80*s, thus installed capacity is 1320 MW. But out of this only unit 1 to 4 have been operating at about 60% of installed capacity and average of 500 ~ 700 MW is what Egbin haa been cpntributing to Grid aince about 2 years ago till now due tp aging. Unit 5 and 6 have been out for yeara but unit 5 was revived about a month ago and during test running it is given about 50-100MW(less than 50%) due to aging. This unit 5 that was rehabilitate is what our President came to commission. Prof Nebo was at Egbin few weeks back for same. I left the rest for people to discern what is happening. Am ready to clarify any question devoid of abuse or fowl lang. Thanks.
It was Unit 6 the president commissioned today. A recommissoning of the entire thermal station was equally carried out sequel to the facilitys all around rehabilitation. Ok?

There's nothing like lie here. Agreed the plant was first commissioned in 1986 but it has been working below optimum capacity. This prompted GEJ to expand its capacity to 1320MW through all around rehabilitation and turnaround, hence the need for the recommissioning. Ok?

Egbin was always Nigeria's most sophisticated plant. No government has ever neglected it, not even Abachas's which was Nigeria's worst government. Please if you are too young, read. read and read. Egbin has always been strategic because.of Lagos which was federal capital and economic power house.
The plant has had three explosions in its life that were all front page news.
Because of its importance it was the only plant that was well monitored by NEPA.
The whole point here is the deception of rash commissioning of plants to deceive the public when actual power generation is still 5000MW same level Yaradua left and $8.2bn spent.
Chief, take the pain to find out if Egbin had ever operated at expected optimum capacity. You just mentioned that series of explosions had taken place there in recent times. But do us a favour by stating the operating capacity of the thermal plant in the last two decades.

OP, this is the commissioning of just a single unit, out of 6, of the 1320MW plant.

The unit been commissioned is about 220MW, and has just been built after many years by the new private owners of the plant who have invested about #50billion in totally rehabilitating it, thereby functionally raising the entire plant to its 1320MW capacity for the 1st time, all under gej power reform program
Yes, it's the commissioning of Unit 6 of the thermal plant and re-commissioning of the entire structure as a result of rehabilitations.

This is a RE COMMISSIONING. That is they are commissioning again an already commissioned expansion of just one additional unit of a 30 year old plant.

When Buhari enters office again, the quality of education will improve and you guys will learn to reason critically and stop falling for LIES from politicians who are less intelligent than you.

For now please enjoy your RE-COMMISSIONING of one of the units of a 30 year old power plant by a lame duck president watching himself leaving office.
Egbin Power plant was first commissioned in 1986 but due to neglect by successive regimes, it has never worked at optimum capacity. Agreed only a unit was newly added by GEJ's adminstration but the plant's entire rehabilitation and turnaround was equally Jonathan Govt's initiative.

This is commendable. I hope this commission with immediate effect on our power supply. Let's not hear it'll take another couple of years before we feel the effect. Commissioning means ready to use meaning right now Nigeria can confidently boast of an additional 1320MW. If we add yesterday's commissioning Nigeria has an additional 2000mw electricity production. This is what this means right?
Yes, that's what it means. However, there's a caveat here, all hands must be on deck to fight against agents of backwardness who have been vandalising gas pipelines thereby preventing constant supply of gas to power the plants. The Minister of Power was almost in tears while narrating the destructive tendencies of the vandals in his presentations penultimate week. Going by his words, some disgruntled elements had always gone on prowl to sabotage improved supply of electricity by blocking gas supply maybe, to serve as a campaign tool for those who wants to hijack power by all means. The cheering news is that, according to the minister, the days of the vandals and their sponsors are numbered..

Yesterday, a quantum leap was recorded in our quest for stable power supply with the commissioning of 750MW Olorunsogo Power generation station in Ogun State. Today, still in the spirit of confining power outage to perpetual obscurity, the President and Commander In Chief of Nigerian Armed Forces, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is presently commissioning another power station in Ikorodu, Lagos State. The project which came to fruition as a result of Mr.President's commitment to effectively lighten up Nigeria is the largest in West Africa and will add about 1320 MW of power supply to the national grid. Let's celebrate an achiever.
