I was discussing with some friends the other day, and I told them of just how badly I don't want Buhari to be our president. I also told them though, how even more baldy I don't want Jonathan to continue.

I was an avid GEJite, and I'd oppose any anti-GEJite I got to talk with. But that was a month or two ago. Now more recently, I've been thinking quite clearly without any preconceived dispositions, and I realise the corruption is at its peak at this moment in time. For God's sake Sanusi claimed 20 billion dollars was stolen from us. The tallest building in the world, the Bujh Kalipha took 15 billion to construct. And what did Mr president say? "America will know". This guys steal and actually tell us about it. EFCC has suddenly stopped arresting politicians who are corrupt and have stolen Billions, why, because all our politicians fit that boot. And worst of all, we ain't getting enough money in circulation no more. And they tell us about completing roads and bridges! Which government in Nigerian recent history did not complete roads and bridges. The Naira has been devalued so much...

I mean, all these in the last few months before the election. In the Normal dimwitted Nigerian electioneering procession, the last few months before the elections were months when the government tries to get the favour of the people by bribing them and blinding them with strangely regular salaries, unsolicited allowances, water taps sprouting everywhere accompanied by signs of who did it, roads they've never touched getting tarred (which strangely never last till the next election when they'd need to be re-tarred), and other guileful "gifts". The time of a windfall that will only fall again in four years. But this year, our president as seen to it that the only windfall happening are dry leaves and nothing more, more posters maybe.

Gej to me is a good person but an horrible president. The PDP has had more than enough its share of the wealth that should have been ours. Let Buhari and co come eat theirs and leave in four years, and you never know, the windfall days may return.
What do you say people?
I think you'll do better than your mentor, Lair Mohammed. Jonathan does not need your inconsequential vote to be reelected. Ok?

Nigeria's ability to whether the storm is never in doubt going by govt efforts in reducing unwarranted overhead. For instance, with over 62,000 ghost workers weeded from civil service payroll thereby saving over N400b in salary overhead and loopholes in fertilizer procurement effectively checkmated among others, the country will still be able to fulfil its financial obligations in the face of dwindling revenue. Aside this, Jonathan's administration has made commendable inroads in further diversifying the economy through massive investments in agric and agro-related revenue spinners. These and other fiscal measures will go a long way in mitigating any ensuing adverse effects of oil price fluctuations. In a nutshell, it's not all gloomy for Nigeria.

Politics › Re: FG Approves $403m Loan For 4 APC Governors (lagos, Rivers, Ogun & Osun) by OLADD:
emekaxy:
FG approves $403m loans for Lagos, Rivers, Ogun, Osun

Vice-President Namadi Sambo
The Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved the request of Lagos, Rivers, Ogun and Osun states to obtain foreign loans totalling about $403m, among other approvals.

It also approved a $1.2bn multi-donor credit for the establishment of the proposed Development Bank of Nigeria.

Other foreign loans totalling $295m were approved for developmental projects across the country.

The different foreign facilities were approved at a meeting of the council presided over by Vice President Namadi Sambo.

President Goodluck Jonathan was absent at the meeting because he travelled to Sokoto where he attended the 90th birthday of former President Shehu Shagari.

The Minister of Aviation, Mr. Osita Chidoka; Minister of State for Finance, Ambassador Bashir Yuguda; Minister of Water Resources, Mrs. Sarah Ochekpe; and Minister of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, briefed State House correspondents at the end of the meeting.

Yuguda said the fact that most of the loans guaranteed by the Federal Government were for states being governed by the All Progressives Congress further confirmed Jonathan’s position that he was the President of all Nigerians.

He said the President had made a distinction between governance and politics, and would not trivialise his office for any reason.

According to the minister, the council approved the request for a $100m credit from the French Development Agency in support of the Lagos Integrated Urban Development Project (Eko-UP).

“The facility is meant to improve living conditions of the most vulnerable urban population of metropolitan Lagos, improve the management and treatment of solid waste, strengthen the capacity of Lagos State and implement urban development projects in Lagos State,” he explained.

Yuguda gave the repayment period of the loan as 20 years, including seven years moratorium as well as commitment fee of 0.25 per cent of the total per annum and an appraisal fee of 0.25 per cent.

The project has three major components: slum upgrading in Ifelodun and Bariga Local Council Development Areas by the Lagos State Urban Renewal Authority; construction of solid waste management facilities by the Lagos State Waste Management Authority; and provision of capacity building and technical assistance for LASURA, LAWMA, the Project Management Unit and the two LCDAs.

For Rivers State, Yuguda said the council gave approval for the $200m African Development Bank’s credit facility for the proposed Port Harcourt water supply and sanitation project as well as an African Development Fund credit of $5m to support the Urban Water Sector Reform Project.

Yuguda said the credit facility would be secured from ADB with a repayment period of 15 years and five years moratorium, adding that the interest was enhanced variable spread loan, with lending spread of 0.60 per cent per annum, translating to 1.56 per cent.

For the ADF, he said the principal would be repaid over a period of 22 years, with eight years grace period and interest rate of one per cent per annum.

According to the minister, the council also approved a $33.174m credit from the French Development Agency in support of the Ogun State Water Supply Project.

He said the facility would be secured from the FDA on blend terms, with an interest rate of six months Libor plus margin; repayment period of 20 years, including seven years moratorium; commitment fee of 0.25 per cent per annum and an appraisal fee of 0.25 per cent.

Yuguda explained that the credit would be on-lend to Ogun State on the same terms and conditions offered by the FDA to the Federal Government.

For Osun State, he said the council approved an Islamic Development Bank’s loan of $65m for financing water supply and sanitation projects in the state, adding that the loan would be repaid over 15 years, gestation period of four years and mark-up Libor + 155bps or to 1.5 per cent per annum.

On the $1.280bn for the establishment of the proposed Development Bank of Nigeria, the minister said the loan would come from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, World Bank, Africa Development Bank as well as the Germany and French Development Agencies in the sums of $500m, $450m, $200m and $130m, respectively.

He said the proposed bank would give credit facilities to micro, small and medium enterprises in the country.

The lady, who gave her name simply as Adijatu towards the end of the video attached to this report, said she organised the 100 persons from Manchester in the United Kingdom for the purpose of the pro-Jonathan protest.

The lady who organised the rented crowd that protested at the Chatham House in London on Thursday on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan has been uncovered.

The lady, who gave her name simply as Adijatu towards the end of the video attached to this report, said she organised the 100 persons from Manchester in the United Kingdom for the purpose of the pro-Jonathan protest.

The rented crowd also protested against the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Major General Muhammadu Buhari.

As earlier reported, a member of the President Jonathan campaign team and the Assistant Director of Civil Society and Support Groups in the Diaspora, Chief Peter Mozie, had requested for $20,000 to mobilise some Nigerians in the United Kingdom to protest at Chatham House where Buhari was to deliver a speech on Thursday.

A memo, addressed to the Director of Civil Society and Support Groups, Prof. Nick Eze, and copied to the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Political Affairs, Prof. Rufai Alkali, said different persons at the venue of the anti-Buhari rally will have various talking points.

Adijatu confirmed on video that she mobilised the persons who came to the venue. She said they came in six buses.
She said unlike Buhari with low spending power, Jonathan was a heavy spender.

She equally said she could organise such crowd for anyone in need of such.
Asked if she was the one who pocketed the $20,000 budgeted for the rally, she simply laughed and moved on to other discussions.

F22RAPTOR:
Forget that dumbo, when BH was been cleared the north pressured our amiable president into considering alternative methods that were clearly detrimental to the country, and because he is democratically inclined, he listened to them, thereby giving the insurgents time to always regroup. The northern elites, the army commanders and soldiers of northern Muslim origin, continuously sabotaged the war against bh. The army has used the last 6 years to learn valuable lessons, and to understand the who the enemy really is, that's why their recent streak of progress seem like a walk in the park. God bless the Nigerian armed forces.
Well said.

I wonder what you're smoking if you believe all that nonsense you typed. Which US and SA debacles? Boko Haram started six years ago, they have killed over 13,000 Nigerian citizens. All the crap you referred to only happened last year. GEJ has been president for five years now. What was he doing for the past five years while Boko Haram was massacring people and taking over large portions of Nigerian territory?
I wasn't smoking anything other than talk sense into the heads of mischief makers one of whom you're Can you ask yourself this simple questions; what was the United States doing for 10 years before they could get rid of Osama Bin Laden? Do you think fighting insurgency/terrorism is a tea party? Was the Nigerian security apparatus traditionally trained and prepared for fighting terrorism? Were the military operations not been prosecuted by mostly northern military chiefs who understand the configuration and terrain of the northeast, and why haven't they been able to bring down Boko haram until the recent successes? Do you expect Jonathan to carry AK47 and head to Sambissa? Believe whatever you want to believe, the president has done well in the midst of both human and systemic hindrances he finds himself.

So GEJ can do all these before but he decided to wait until election loss was staring him in the face. I just hope enough of my fellow Nigerian people can see clearly through this smokescreen.
Why are you people so heartless in spreading mischief? Are you trying to feign ignorance of the factors that had stood in the way of the fight against Boko haram all this while? Now take this:
1. Efforts of the Fed Govt to procure ammunitions were thwarted by local and internationally conspirators, hence the inability to effectively arm the soldiers. The US and SA debacles are still fresh in the mind.
2. Our neighbouring countries ( Chad, Niger and Cameroon) had been reluctant to cooperate with us for a long time until it dawned on them that Boko haram was fast becoming regional menace.
3. Boko haram had infiltrated the security institutions, a factor that threw up unparalleled sabotage and soldiers' lukewarmness in taking the insurgents headlong.
The table began to turn just few weeks ago due to a positive reversal in above trends contrary to the postulation of political undertone been drummed by APC and its misguided supporters. Pls be informed and stop spreading lies. Ok?
