Recommendations are made but the question is are they followed? I remember when we finally got to identify and claim her body a month later, while waiting for the death certificate, one lady who lost her uncle on the same flight told us that on that day, when the pilot declared a mayday, the ATC in charge of the flight immediately handed the plane over to a JUNIOR member who had no idea about the crisis at hand. By the time he got up to speed, the plane had already hit the ground. In a saner climate, those recordings would have been heard and the ATC would have been fired for negligence and even jailed.

I also heard that the plane was not supposed to fly back to Lagos that day. The management demanded that it return to Lagos that evening, even after they were told it was due for a quick service. They insisted it turn back immediately. If the plane had remained in Abuja, I'm sure the mechanics would have detected the problem when performing the engine inspection.

According to the report - and i have it in front of me as I type this - "Engine number 1 lost power seventeen minutes into the flight, and
thereafter on final approach, Engine number 2 lost power and failed to respond to throttle movement on demand for increased power to sustain the aircraft in its flight configuration."

"The Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) retained about 30 minutes 53 seconds of the flight
and started recording at 1513:44hrs by which time the Captain and First Officer (F/O)
were in a discussion of a non-normal condition regarding the correlation between the
engine throttle setting and an engine power indication. However, they did not voice
concerns then that the condition would affect the continuation of the flight. The flight
crew continued to monitor the condition and became increasingly concerned as the
flight transitioned through the initial descent from cruise altitude at 1522:00hrs and the
subsequent approach phase."

If the pilots had requested a return when they first detected the problem, or even diverted to an alternate airport I'm sure they would have landed safely. The sad part to it all was that they were already in Lagos and were on final approach. If only the plane had remained just three more minutes in the air, they would have landed.

Well, like they say, hindsight is 20/20. May they continue to rest in peace.

The fan can be left alone, replace the radiator with a brand new unit , replace the thermostat with a brand new unit , install coolant. You should be fine

by saying the fan be left alone, do you mean i leave it in the permanent state? or return it to the default state? do you have an idea of what the cost of a new radiator and thermo could be?

Pathy 06- 12 had issues stemming on radiator which may become defective and allow coolant flow into transmission and damage transmission. Check the radiator and also invest in a transmission cooler.

There's a disadvantage in running your transmission fan permanently. I've written a lot about the disadvantages so has Gazzuzz and nobody.

Yeah I heard about the issue of coolant leaking into transmission, but there is a general consensus that this mostly happens around 90,000 miles. can you share the url of one of such topics, can't seem to find it on ur topics list

Hi Gazzuzz, Thanks for always taking time to reply. want to give a brief detail so u can understand better how to advice me.

Vehicle stats: Nissan Pathfinder 2007, 63,000 mileage naija used bought directly from the owner
about a month after i got the vehicle i forgot to set my radiator cap before driving out, car overheated but not to the point of gasket burning, as i noticed on time.

water pump was replaced as mech said it was bad and was shorting water in the rad which i topped every morning before the incidence, I removed the thermostat as well as it got damaged due to the incidence and water was not flowing into the engine due to the thermo been stuck in a closed state.

after all was done, water was overflowing to the reservoir, rad cap was confirmed good and all, mech did a bypass somewhere and everything got regulated, temp gauge stayed at the middle.

my mech set the fan to permanent as i was worried car could overheat, now temp is usually low and only goes to half only when ac is on, what i want to know, is there any disadvantage to setting fan to run permanently when the engine runs, also the bypass that was done do u have an idea the impact of it?

Recently I Got a very clean Nigerian used Nissan pathfinder 2007 with 61,000 mileage from the owner that imported it as tokunbo.
I noticed the water in the radiator gets short everyday so I top it regularly, last week I forgot to cover the radiator after topping it, vehicle started overheating on the road, I stopped the car saw the cap was missing, called my mechanic he came and confirmed the gasket was fine.
Second day on coming from the island vehicle started acting up, oil pressure indicator was low, temperature was not spiking but the vehicle was not moving well.
Mechanic came and diagnosed replacement of water pump.
Water pump has been replaced but everything seems not back to normal. Water in radiator keeps drying up every short distance

After going online fuel filter, injector, Nozzle happen to be mentioned as major culprits.

Nigerians all over the world have weekly been entertained by Bukola Saraki led circus senate. Most recently a Nigeria POLICE deserter Senator Isah Misau has been on the front burner to discredit the Nigeria POLICE force led by a fine gentleman IGP Ibrahim Idris.

It is laughable to say that the IGP collects billions of Naira from oil companies and institutions. Police all over the world have VIP protection units that caters for diplomatic mission and this also extends to expatriate staff of oil companies and multinational companies.
In return these institutions donate vehicles and stipends for operations to fuel vehicles, feeding and allowances for officers and men.

Even officers and men posted on UN duties are paid allowances in foreign currency outside their usual wages.

It's unbelievable that Misau and his cohorts will expect that institutions where men are posted to safeguard lives and properties will not contribute to the welfare of the police. Even the Nigeria Army JTF operating in the Niger Delta are provided with vehicles and speed boats by oil companies.
The Nigerian senate is known for its many dubious probes with intent to armtwist and extort money.

Previous probes like crude oil swap, customs etc are avenues to extort money from the people being probed. Nothing comes out from their probes. Senator Saraki knowing that IGP IBRAHIM IDRIS cannot be manipulated to do his bidding has resorted to campaign of calumny against him by using a willing tool in the person of Senator Misau.

The best advice for IGP Idris is to call their bluff and face his constitutional duty of safeguarding Nigeria and fighting crimes. As the 2019 election approaches he should remain focused and instiĺ discipline in the nation.
