Although, there is wisdom in neutrality. I do not know why yorubas are always playing the neutral party even if they are being killed undecided

They insult people who practice the real islam. They want people to practice arab culture like they do,which they think is islam. because the yorubas dont follow them and go killing innocent people all of a sudden they are "fake muslims"

No, the new Biafra is not in any form or shape inclusive of the Ijaws. I don't know any member of our present Biafra government in exile that is Ijaw but I knew one or two Ibibio and Efik in it.
The day we submitted our quest for future referendum to Koffi Annang at the U.N headquaters in New York, of the 165 delegates, non was Ijaw. The day Biafra house was opened in Washington DC By His Excellency Ikemba Nnewi- Emeka Ojukwu, I also did not see any Ijaw man there but there were few Ibiobios/Efik, not just Igbos.
Even with the Ibibio and Efik, in any future BIAFRA it has to be legally by their own choice. Period.

Can one visit the biafra house and is it more of a headquarters or a tourist building?

What I never understand about this is how 3rd parties get caught up. If Hausa and Berom are beefing, then why are Igbos and other southern groups getting killed too? undecided

As long as you are with the christian group, in a church, or in an area split between muslim and christian then you are a target.

Okay, point taken.

as for itsekiris ( I speak for myself),

I would prefer to join the ijaws and my SS brothers or yorubas (whichever way undecided). Although, I am weary of the ijaws ooo! angry. Anyway, the LOGICAL option would be SN and not 3 republics undecided.

Makes good sense wink

Bro, my problem is,
If igbos and the ijaws are blood related, and they "betrayed" you, why not call them traitors? Why try to form a country with them even though they regard igbos as expansionist?

They called those ijaws "sabos" short for sabotagers. I dont think he mentioned anything about ijaws though. It would be by referendum and not by force anyway.

The officials better get this conflict under control. If Igbo groups based in Jos are sending warning, this is a worrying sign, because it is telling their brothers in the East what is happening to them. Do you think the wider Igbo will tolerate such nonsense? Just look at what happened in Onitsha and Aba in the past. People need to learn to get along.

A friend from back in jos just informed me today that a bus of filled of mostly igbo xtians were killed and muslims also attacked some of their shops. He said then the Igbos went out and started killing every Hausa they saw.and things are getting worse.

And how does that concern you? cheesy. My question is, "WHY DOES HE (metal-goong) PREFER BIAFRA (biafra included SS and as faras i know urhobo and ijaws do not speak igbo) THAN SN? and what is your stance?

Just as "why would itsekiri concern me" then why would him prefering Biafra "concern you"? cheesy. Anyway i prefer a discussion with you so lets get at it shall we. Biafra is what his people fought for, which we all know. Efiks/Ibibios as confirms by an Efik man earlier in the thread wants Biafra, which is what his people fought for as well. They want to be in the same country so they should. Everyone is aware of the Connects Igbos and Ibibios/efiks have with each other. As for the Ijaw, the kalabi-ijaws are blood related with the Igbos and Ibibios as well.Im not sure about the bayelsans. I am for whatever makes the peoplewho want independence happy. How about the itsekiri in the scheme of things?

Houses razed as Jos violence spreads

News Jan 10, 2011

Jos — The violence caused by the alleged killing of eight people along the Jos-Mangu Halle highway in Plateau State continued in Angwan Doki area of Bukuru, Jos South Local Government Area, yesterday, resulting in the burning of houses and general disorder.

Security men had a difficult time restoring order as those whose houses were torched mobilised for reprisals leading to serious tension in Angwan Doki area of the council headquarters.

It was learnt that the town was divided along ethno-religious lines as people gathered to launch attacks or counter-attacks one side against the other.

The tension forced many people to remain indoors in the Jos metropolis while there was a general security alert in most parts for fear of outbreak of violence.

Spokesman for the Special Task Force maintaining security in the state, Capt. Charles Ekeocha who confirmed the violence in Bukuru in a telephone interview said everything was being done to bring the situation under control.

He told Vanguard that a number of houses were torched but could not confirm if there was any killing as the area was still tense.

Igbo group warns

Meanwhile, a Jos-based Igbo socio-cultural group, Izu Umunna Cultural Association, has warned that it will no longer fold its hands and watch the blood of innocent Igbo men and women being spilled on the streets of Jos in the recurring crisis.

A statement jointly signed by the President, Prof Zebulon Okoye and Secretary General, Chief Elvis Chukwu, said Igbo had continued to be targets of attacks in the violence, saying, “enough is enough.”

It expressed worry at what it called the consistent failures on the part of various security agencies to forestall and apprehend the perpetrators of these dastardly acts and the inability of government to bring culprits of previous violence and their sponsors to justice but said Igbo have refused to be cowed by the situation.

@ BecomeRich,

1. France was implicated in the genocide that happened in Rwanda.

2. The main implication of your dream of merging with Benin Republic would have the effect of the Odua speaking peoples being the majority
speaking peoples in the Benin Republic and that could destabilize the country because the other groups might not want that.

3. The English speaking world will never let this happen, UK and USA will rater we turn into a micro Liberia as opposed to letting us cross lines to the French. Please don't be completely naive into believing that we are completely in control of shaping our destiny. There are external actors pulling strings and we are just puppets.

4. There are signs now that the US will help us split, and the UK will concede to it, only because they are against Islamic domination and not because they want us to join a French created State.

For the reasons listed above, I believe you might blow our only chance of seceding from the North relatively peacefully.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

Referendum gives you the right to choose what you want. In as much as prefer confederacy against the present status quo, how do you know that is what everybody want. I have never stopped saying that Nigeria as single entity ruled from one source is not only a huge mistake but unworkable but at the same time I want it dissolved based on choice. There might be others that would wish to continue as Nigeria in any shape or form they wanted.
Others, like we Biafrans prefer a total independent alone or alone with Ibibio and the Efik if that is what they want for themselves. There is no poiint dissolving Nigeria and then creating a brand new mini Nigeria all over again.

De Eziachi, thank you.

Of-course, each region has a right to independence albeit it could end up disturbing the peace and stability of the various regions if rushed. Nigeria is on the brink of total collapse and all you can think of is breaking it up abruptly without considering the aftermath.

Are you aware that there are already state agitators that have already put together a governmental structure and are still implementing it as preparation of nigeria's separation? so what are you talking about with "the breaking up abruptly" thing?

Have yorubas ever done it? If they did, how do you know that I would say its cool?

Politics and education are totally different things.

I do not have any fear of igbos. I was even defending igbos against fstranger.

BTW, did the strike affect the country or igbo sons?

There where strikes all over the country. In the SW and SS. Google it. the ones that made headlines boldly were the SE,why? I don't know. You fear Igbos. Do Igbos need to wait for yorubas to do things before they do it? Use your head. Everything with you is yoruba, yoruba, yoruba and you are not even yoruba! There is nothing wrong with how they decide to govern themselves.

If it were to be about yorubas doing it you would have no problem would you?No. what does other regions have to do with how one region does things? weren't you the same one yesterday saying that an igbos should keep the way they do things in their societies for themselves and not bring it to any other part because yorubas hjave their own system of governing? Now you are going against your beliefs? Stick to one thing please and stop showing your fear of Igbos.

You can not take away a people's right of independence. If they do not what to be in a country that they were not asked permission to be in, then they should not be forced to stay in that country. However, their country turns out, whether good or bad is their own business.

Your official language is IGBO. He's not forcing non-Igbo teachers to speak Igbo because obviously they can't just go back to school to learn it,they are too old to do so. When your language start to go extinct then you will start complaining.Igbo always curse themselves. A referendum won't solve the anomaly we currently find ourselves in. Sudan lost six of her citizens (owing to religious skirmishes along the Abiye border) this very day in a bid to effect a referendum. A confederation is more apt (a test run), atleast till we fashion out how to co-exist independently and peacefully.

Get out of here with that nonsense. Were we not living independently and peacefully before the illegal amalgamation? Confederation my foot.

noblezone:

This was the very reason why I personally want a smaller country where we have common interests and can manage ourselves than a large one with so much differences and confusions.

During the last Anambra Guber race, about 50 people came out to contest on the platform of the PDP alone and some Nigerians where screeming that it was too much, but I said, that is how we are. If possible, let 1000 people contest and from them all, one man, just one man will emerge as the winner.

That man will have the restpect of the other contestants,
That man will be humble enough to be accountable to the people
That man will be dealt with by the people if he failes.

Yet, the internal colonial masters would not allow us to do our thing: they imposed Soludo. Were we angry? Yes! It was an insult and we don't like being insulted like that.

As if the intimidation and harassments are not enough, the Jihadists and still waxing strong in their euphoria of religion by force. In Igbo land, it is by persuation that we do things. It is a shame that sombody from Sokoto will sit at Sokoto and decided and apoint who should rule over the land in Anambra.

This imposition and consensus nonsense from the Internal Colonial masters must stop. You cannot make us slaves in our fathers land.

There are voices of wisdom from Sudan and one of them said; " I like to live in a small country with peace than in large country at war".

He who has ears, let Him hear. - The King of Kings.

Well said. You and Justcash have the best posts on this thread yet.Nice. cool
Politics / Re: Nigeria Can Learn A Lot From Traditional Igbo Democracy by Olaedo1: 6:03am On Jan 09, 2011
Justcash:

The diverse traditional political orientation of Nigerian regions is one major reason why Nigeria cannot exist peacefully as one.

The North and West had traditional centralized political systems, where the Obas, Sultans, etc were the heads of their areas. Their political systems were dictatorial and centralized. Traditional heads were bowed to and thoroughly respected. The only difference between the traditional political system in the North and West was that , while the Emirs and Sultans in the North were absolutely supreme (Like gods), the Obas in the west were not really supreme, cos their actions could be questioned and they could even be asked to commit suicide by the kingmakers.

In the East, it was totally different. There were more assemblies of leaders (Heads of families/representatives of villages and towns) than monarchs. Decisions were made through consensus among the representatives, and leadership decisions were thoroughly challenged (Leaders needed to thoroughly satisfy the members of the assembly or face intense opposition). Because of this political orientation, other Nigerian ethnic groups think that Eastern Nigerians are not organized. It was also the reason why the British (Used to centralized system of governance) abhorred the Eastern part of the country in favor of the North and West.

This difference in political orientation among Nigerian ethnic groups is the major source of political violence in Nigeria. The present crop of Eastern politicians are after amassing wealth, and are ready to lick the shoes of political god-fathers in order to gain the political post that can aid their goals. The issue of god-fatherism was introduced in the East by Politicians influenced by the North and West e.g Zik, Ekwueme, Orji Kalu, Chris Uba etc. This god-fatherism stuff is alien to Eastern areas.
Imagine the North existing on their own, with their preferred Centralized political system that supports their religious  beliefs? They will simply move ahead in peace like Malaysia, Dubai, Iran etc
Imagine the West with a centralized political system that supports the existence of their centralized monarchical system? They will move on like the British, Turkish, Irish, Scottish, Malaysians etc
Imagine the East with their Republican system of government, which will support their decentralized political system, and democratic nature? They will live in peace and move on like the Americans and other republican countries.

To force these regions to exist as one, irrespective of their traditional political orientation can be likened to a shabby attempt to ensure an "Assimilation" policy that can never succeed.

Nice. cool
