Generally speaking, you don't arrest prominent members of the political opposition immediately before an election. . . it is pretty poor form.

I agree Jonathan will definitely lose votes off of that act alone.Would make him seem just like the average joe nigerian politician. The outcome of the Delta governorship elections has begun to paint him in that way.

While you guys are bringing up all sorts of conspiracy theory, it is a known fact that Al-qaedah have been for long recruiting agaent and terrorist in the north.
I mean, when i was in the north a younger brother of my freind got missing for about 8 months without any tracy. After all hope loss then came a news that he was in a terrorist camp in far somalia.
The most baffling of all this rubbish is that boy was electrical first class student in the university and he left all his academics to be trained as a terrorist.

I had the opportuinity out curiosity of asking him direct about what he intends to achieved, but guy dont even have a clue, just like a total formating of the brain and subsequent installation of a virus infect software.

I know a similar case in the north which al-qaeda was training some people and sponsoring theri activity with money and hardware in an out skirt of a state. But the governor cover and release them after been arrested just because they are children of the rich among them.

Another twist. . . . . Of all was last month Asari dokubo mujahid was a host to a radio station in portharcourt. I.e live programme, but to my dismay this guy was openly defending the late leader of boko haram sects and saying that he is a freind to them and were just mis understood by the public. He went ahead to say that he supports everything they do . . . . . . Quote him

"they are not boko haram, they are freedom fighters. How can you have a Phd and called your self boko haram. . . . ."

" i know many of them in the group, they are engineers, doctors, accountants, they are fighting a just cause. . . . ."

he continues by warning and insulting Gov. amaechi and said that Abeyi sekibo is going to be the next governor. . . . . . . I will post the some sorts of thrilling account later cos am using my mobile now. . . .THE THREATS OF AL-QAEDAH IS REAL!!!

Conspiracy theory how? Explain because obviously you know something we don't.

US predicts more bomb attacks in Nigeria

By Ike Nnamdi, Correspondent, Washington D.C

Friday, January 07, 2011

Nigeria will experience more deadly bomb attacks this year as extreme militant groups affiliated to Al-Qaida step up their efforts to undermine the government, according to America’s elite spy agency, The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

In a memo sent to President Barack Obama and top defence chiefs, the CIA said the long term objective of the groups is the overthrow of “Nigeria’s secular government to be replaced by a strict Islamic administration under Sharia law.

“The agency also concluded that foreign terrorist groups have set up safe havens in the country and are actively recruiting and training youths who they intend to deploy for terror attacks against government facilities.” Officials also warned that some Nigerian security officials have also been compromised by terror groups and could be playing an active part in helping them achieve their objectives.

“The agency predicted the rise of terror groups in Nigeria years ago but the situation now is dire, worsened by the combination of unemployment, the religious and ethnic direction of the present political scenarios”, officials of the Homeland Security Department told Daily Sun. Sources said facilities on the target list of these groups include airports, power stations, oil pipelines, hotels and any place where large number of casualties can be recorded. “The ultimate aim is to cause a large number of deaths and damages”, according to a counter-terrorism official.

The Daily Sun learnt that it was because of the urgency of the Nigerian situation that the administration took the unprecedented step of President Obama and Homeland Security chief Janet Napalitano jointly criticizing the New Year eve bombing in Abuja. “The administration is concerned about the unfolding event in Nigeria and is in discussion with its relevant security agencies for greater security cooperation,” officials stated.

The CIA recommends that Abuja must monitor more closely religious schools, especially in the north and funds sent in by foreign groups as gifts. It also warns that officials who lose out in the elections are likely to play the religious card, which could further raise tension.

A politically sophisticated country such as the US knows that you do not take sides. They no what they are doing.Trying to pin north against south by openly singling out the north and their religion which they no will cause strife and mayhem. The northerners will feel like they are being attacked. This ridiculous. Those bombings have nothing to do will islamization.

The is no such thing as al qaeda. Its been proven to be just a name tagged on to islamic terrorist organizations. Everybody get ready for the U.S. to set up a military in Nigeria. Whenever they use the term 'al-qaeda' it means the US military is coming to ur damn country,to "help fight terrorism".

Buhari or Atiku, it is still North. The shortcut (zoning) the South took to become president in 1999 will be dead afterall.

Nope brother, that is strictly a PDP matter.Buhari has nothing to do with it. So I think now you know that if they pitch camp with Atiku instead of GJ that your Igbo presidency under PDP in 2015 isn't going to happen because it will still be the north's turn. Buhari vs Atiku is strictly about civilian votes now,no more primaries. In this case Buhari will definitely win.

you are not a yoruba man    fact!!!!!

secondly, 1999 when obj was presented as a presidential candidate, did the yorubas accept him or not,,,,,,,,,

did the south-west not produce falaye as there Representative on the Federal level

ola edo, i find some of your post very very disturbing as you really do not know your history about YOUR yoruba people undecided

Why are u so concerned about the yoruba.Since you claim you are "not yoruba". I don't know my history or you just dont understand english well. What does falaye have to do with anything i said Mr. "I am not yoruba,i am kanuri"? Whether you agree or not Nigerians see OBJ as representing the SW/Yorubas. Just as IBB,Abacha, Yaradua, Murtala all represented the north.End of argument and since "you are not yoruba" stay off yoruba nuts. You don't have to agree but your thoughts are in the minorities of minorities amongst nigerians.

Looks like Jonathan's camp is trying to pitch fake news of since their man Uduaghan is losing. grin

BREAKING: Jonathan's men back Ogboru

06 Jan 2011

The rerun governorship election in Delta State has been generally peaceful, but the race itself is a tough call between the top two contenders, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan (PDP), who is a former governor of the state, and his challenger, Chief Great Ogboru (DPP)

THISDAY reporters observed that key associates of President Goodluck Jonathan (PDP) are working for the success of Ogboru, fuelling speculations that the president's public rally for Uduaghan on Tuesday was just a facade.

Minister of the Niger Delta, Chief Godsday Orubebe, was very prominent in canvassing support for Ogboru, whose victory at the courts led to the cancellation of the 2007 election and the ordering of a rerun.

There was heavy security presence everywhere, leading to optimism that there would be no outbreak of violence.

But many would-be voters complained that their names were not in the voter register, but the general reports indicate that the process was fairly transparent and devoid of intimidation and manipulation.

Uduaghan's running mate, Professor Amos Utuama (SAN), commended the peaceful conduct of the polls after voting at 12.53 pm at Unit 4 of Jeremi Ward in Ughelli South Local Government Area.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the various security agencies for the orderly manner voters conducted themselves.

Atiku visits Rivers, hammers on PDP’s zoning principle

Thursday, 06 January 2011

Former vice-president and presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has advised delegates from the South-South zone of the country to take caution while casting their votes at the forthcoming presidential primaries of the party in Abuja.

Abubakar, who was speaking during a visit to the Rivers State secretariat of the party in Port Harcourt, on Wednesday, noted that the principle of zoning, as stipulated in the party’s constitution, must be adhered to.

“The January 13, 2011 PDP primaries is very historic; it will determine the future of this country. Zoning is part of our party constitution, but it is very saddening   that some people are kicking against it.

“The fact of PDP party primaries ahead of us is that delegates from the North alone constitute 61 per cent, while those of South are mere 39 per cent, but my coming here is to show that we still need each other as a nation,” he said.

Abubakar, who also spoke at the secretariat of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council, said if elected president, he would revisit 1975/76 Local Government Reform to give more powers to the traditional institution.

also when you talk of 2 regions throwing him in jail, was not abacha that did it not north or south-east

abacha never repersented us northerners because he also did not like hausa and wanted to break the unity between the northern ethnic groups smiley

Look, we are arguing from two different stand-points. It's quite clear you don't know how the cabals work. Abacha was not a single man.Others such as IBB and so all ate together. Doesn't mean that Abacha didn't get power drunk and not lash out at fellow northerners. Also, whether you like it or not, in nigeria and to nigerians, he represented the north since he is from the north. Abacha was your brother, a kanuri.

How?

Look, If Atiku is going to be the president. For his presidency to be successful, he has to carry the Nigerian Congress along.
And there is no way they would allow him run amok, at the detriment of the south
Atiku, and all presidents, would be fair to everyone. That is not my concern.

The economy is run by the southerners, believe it or not.
Bother yourself not about him keeping the status quo.

Whether northerner or southerner, the president cannot do it alone.
And moreover, quota system is enshrined in the constitution, so I doubt if he would be able to do things in favor of the north without risking the wrath of the rest of the country.

He is not making threats, he is just being honest
Ken Nnamani alluded to the same thing a few days back; yet you did not cry about it.

Ken Nnamani is irrelevant to me. He only concerned about his Igbo presidency which he thinks he will get in 2015.So sad. Has he asked Atiku why his(Nnamanis) region only have 5 states, which takes away tremendously from the amount of delegates they have when compared to the other zones?Nnamani lol, i dey laugh

^^^

My point is that Atiku is correct, he does not need to carry the whole of the South to become president

All he needs in the North and some few states here and there to win the presidency!

And, I used Hope'93 to illustrate my point!

redsun:

Northern population is falsely represented. For there to be a fair election in nigeria, there must be a fair and accurate population census.

Meanwhile, why is atiku not under arrest by now for inciting violence?Atiku should be vying for the post of agbero chairman in his state or prison president, not the president of sane people, anyway, nigeria as a country is insane.

By atikus tone, it is obvious that he plans to keep things the way it is to favor the north. How could someone who wants to be a president say that.It is obvious that this guy cannot campaign without threats. If what he is saying is that case, then why would it matter if the SS vote for GJ.It shouldn't bother him. It's statements like that that make him look desperate.

I think his point was that after MKO 'secured' Igbo vote he turned around and said he did not need the Igbo then also said we was going to the U.S. and other internation superpowers and reporting all of the 'corrupt northerners'. That is what led the two regions to team up annul the election and throw him in jail. So I've heard.
