That is how the devil likes them; intelligent, wise, well spoken but spiritually powerless.

As long as you are not casting out demons and healing the sick the devil has no reason to mess with you.

A Christian clergy made so long a statement without a single quote from the Bible but Shakespeare.

when a Bank has less than 50 branches and a low customer based they can easily pass for an efficient bank.

Gtb's problem started when they opened more branches and wanted to open account for every citizen of Nigeria. You can't have quantity and quality at the same time. When you have the customer base of FBN/UBN/UBA you should expect the trouble they face.

GTB you are welcome to the world of big banks. GTB did not change, the usual quality service is simply not just enough to go round.

nijanigga: tell me what I got wrong. Is T.B Joshua not a thief? all days are for the thief and one day is for the owner. Now that his yansh is opened,no hiding place for crookly anointed.
You can now see by your statement that you have issues with T. B. Joshua aside the collapsed building. It is sentiment that I am against, investigate, if found directly culpable, arrest and prosecute, simple.

But calling him a thief, a fake, ritualist, etc is unacceptable by me and I won't be a party to it.

Dragonking: Do you know what happened to the captain of a ship that killed several teenagers in south korea? do you know what happened to the captain of the ship that capsized and killed the people on board its ship in italy? try and find out.

Tb Joshua should be arrested for negligence and by --passing the directive of the lagos state gov agency that closed down the illegal structure..he also failed to offer n apology to the affected family rather he went ahead to manipulate a video just to put the blame on an aircraft that had nothing to do with the collaspe.
I love your illustration with a captain of a ship. You will also agree with me that a captain of a ship differs from the owner of the ship.

I am not saying that T. B. Joshua should not be held accountable, but just blatant call out for his arrest not minding if he was the captain of the ship is very wrong. Its the church project and he may not even be directly responsible for building projects, the job might have been even contracted out to a qualified professional that chose to cut corners (I am just saying ooo), but many are using this as a personal vendetta against the man of God.

Please let's put aside any form of sentiments, which you and I know is not possible anyway.

Dragonking: If this was caused by a church unknown to the politicians or by a commoner do you think he will be left free? Nigerians should wake up..This kind of thing cant be left aside without the law taking its due cause in other sane countries.

South Africans are threatening to sue TB joshua which is right what are Nigerians doing? Mumu people..mtchhheeeewwww
You are getting me confused. I think it is because the Church is known that is why he is being persecuted. Do you know how many building under construction have collapsed in Lagos alone in the past 10yrs?

Will it be a news moving incidence like this if it was not a church or it was not T. B. Joshua that was involved?

Note that the people from SA are suing T. B. Joshua not requesting for his arrest. But the tone of some Nigeria is rather prejudice in nature than seeking justice. I feel some are even happy that this happened to T. B. Joshua not minding the enormous loss of lives.

R.I.P to the dead.

Justice should and must be done without any prejudice.

bushdoc9919: The above comments represent the reason why Nigerian Christianity is in trouble. The man of God must be protected from the consequences of his wrong actions...even if it means protecting him from God's wrath.

When a so called man of God is doing the wrong thing, it is wrong to defend him by misquoting bible verses out of context, and by making such crass comments.

A building has collapsed. Evidence appears to show that it was due to bad construction. Mr Joshua is ultimately responsible for the disaster as the head of the organization responsible for building the structure....and at the very least he should be in jail for manslaughter....or for illegally disobeying city construction oridinances.

You know, Nigeria is not prospering because Christians, who are supposed to be the Light of the world are busy excusing evil in the name of Touch not my anointed. Meanwhile dozens of people are dead because Mr Anointed approved of an illegality. He should have, at the very least...stopped or not participated in evil.

I think that until Nigerian Christians repent and start demanding greater accountability from each other and from our clerics....and that includes Catholics, Protestants, evangelicals, African and Independent Churches....we will continue to suffer as a country and as a Church...until we realize that evil must never be tolerated.
Misquoting the bible?

please read Numbers 12: 1-12

Investigations should be carried out and the law should take its normal course.

But the way and manner some are clamouring for the head of T. B. Joshua should give you some form of concern. Was the construction contracted out? Is a certified building engineer handling the project?

It is a simple fact that most people don't just like the man and they are using this opportunity to nail him.

I would prefer they cry for justice to be done not that T. B Joshua should be jailed, if in the process of justice being served, it is T. B. Joshua that is indicted then our conscience will be cleared.

No problem.

It is written already that judgment will start from the house of God.

While at it lets investigate and prosecute CAN presido too. After that you will see that corruption will reduce in this country as the fraternity between our corrupt government official and religious leaders would have been broken and the masses will be the better for it.

Something is about to happen in this country, God is about to answer our prayers.

cole265: Same, same, exactly is now happening in the church and that has made the outside/ govt. Less strange.
The church property is not distinguished from the over seer's / founder's property. God knows we shout, cry and frown at corrupt government practices of embezzlement and their not doing enough, especially in the education sector. As a result, they are becoming more cautious and at least, sometimes give explanation.
But for church Papas to use congregation (both poor and rich) money for further self enrichment, without consideration for the poor just like the govt will do, is the bone of contention.
Sir, I believe it is more expensive to run a university than to build one. Now do we expect the church to make the school affordable and the church should again be raising money every now and then to pay lecturer's?
I don't believe it is a must to attend private university. The issue of papa's using church wealth as if it is personal wealth is another topic entirely.
We talk like all the offering goes to the personal purse of the Bishop. Do you know how many people are on the payroll of LFC, a uncle of mine left KadPoly to join CU as a lecturer, so I know the pay must be good.

We are just looking at the school fees we are not looking at the salaries of all the staff. The salary LFC pays may equal that of some states in this country but all we talk about is the private jet and how the jet is to be sold to feed the poor. Remember the poor will always be with us, because some have vowed to remain poor.

If the members (some of whom are on scholarship) are not complaining, who are we to complain. Let any "full member" dispute this claim please.

igala1: Schools built by church funds are called missionary schools. Why can't we give back to the society what it gave us. I ask, how much did it cost back then to finish University in Unilorin? I doubt it cost N200,000. If Awo could do it with the few resources given his region, how much more the Church when tithe& offering is constant.
They can make the fee a little higher than Govt Universities with condition that the pupil+parent must be church members. With that the flock would be full without evangelism.

All na vanity!
Simple. The problem is caused by you and I. Those missionary schools also had missionary teachers. After the building of the universities who will pay the lecturers? Do you know the staff strength of that university?

Most off us just have this holier-than-thou attitude. How many less privileged persons have you helped this year? The Bishop claim that they have been giving out scholarship even before they started building schools.

Anyway he has touched more lives positively than you. And to go to a private school is not by force.

Celepope: Many Nigerians just like condemning anything church perhaps it is based on poverty. You guys should cut them some slack.I am not taking side with this man but he is not far from the truth. Most private University even in the US owned by churches are also expensive.A good example is Oral Roberts University.I have not come across where the owners of the religious Universities forced anyone to attend their school. It is by choice. Some will soon start complaining that his members can't attend his school.Funny enough many of them are not complaining so why are you guys bothered? If you think you have the money then your can send your kids there but if not you can sure look else where i.e Adekunle Ajasin University and other.Anyways even the useless state Universities in Nigeria are getting expensive daily without any meaningful infrastructure and wack administration so you guys should ponder on the difference between both.
God bless you.

Billions of our money is getting embezzled every day, we are not saying sh*t. But when it is church money that people gave of their own free will and will continue to give, we all come out with strength and agility to attack.
Please lets go and look at this year's budget for education and let's see if we got value for "our money".

Some of us don't even reason that the wealth of this country belongs to us all, but a myopic few have kidnapped the wealth of all. I rather we talk about what our government is talking about education, it is not by force to attend private university.

bigtt76: Come on ....money spent on recharge card is a collective summation of more than 60 million phone users in the country. 1 million naira upwards spent on burial is not a yearly affair and usually is as a result of contribution to the bereaved from various sources.

One million as school fees comes from your pocket alone and not from other contributions sir! Is it easy to save 500k a year in this country? Take a look below

1. You spend money on fuel for your generator - No public power supply
2. You spend money on providing your household with potable drinking water
3. You spend money on filtering/treatment of borehole water
4. You spend money on maintaining the borehole ...yes the salty water affects the piping due to its salty nature
5. You pay your security guard monthly
6. You pay for neighborhood security
7. You fuel your car (black market or normal)
8. You spend money for household needs
9. You pay tithes in church + other church program tinz
10. You pay tax

I could go on and on huh not easy sir!
And all your list that go's on does not affect the university in question abi?

grin you just assisted in helping the Bishop list some of the reasons for the high cost in private universities. Some of this private universities have not experienced power cut for upward of 2 years.
Also remember that unlike ASU it is not government that pay their lecturers and all other staff. It is not easy or cheap to do anything good in Nigeria.
But it will surprise you that Federal universities maybe more expensive if they are to be self sustaining.

Christianity Etc › Islamic Scholar Opens Doors To First Gay-friendly Mosque In South Afric by olaeffect(op): 6:08pm On Sep 20, 2014
End Time Things.

A muslim scholar has opened the doors to what is believed to be the world’s only gay-friendly mosque in Cape Town, South Africa.
According to a BBC report, Dr. Taj Hargey, a professor at Oxford University’s Muslim Educational Centre has completed the ‘Open Mosque’ which welcomes not only gay Muslims, but also invites women to pray alongside men, and even to lead prayers.

The opening of the mosque has been condemned by many in Cape Town’s Muslim community with one Muslim group unsuccessfully attempting to block the opening of the mosque.

Dr. Hargey has said that he hoped the mosque would symbolize the open nature of Islam during the times of Prophet Muhammed, who is said to have allowed prominent women like one of his wives, Khadijah to lead prayers.

"This idea of female invisibility is an innovation that came after Muhammad, unfortunately it has become entrenched," said Dr. Hargey.

Although South Africa’s body for Islamic groups, the Muslim Judicial Council (MJC), says it is investigating members’ concerns of the Open Mosque, several members of Cape Town’s large Muslim community have openly criticized the mosque and even labeled the Dr. Hargey an “unbeliever”.

Still, Dr. Hargey hopes the mosque will counter growing Islamic radicalism, and looks forward to the future.
