Very good analysis. If the coach wants to win the match, he needs to make those changes. Spain may have a better team, but we can surely disrupt them and take our chances when we have them.

The girls are not the problem. The coach is the one that wants them to be what they are not. A good coach gets us minimum of 7 points from that group.
Actually, this set of girls are much better than the ones we had 2 years ago. The problem is the glaring technical deficiency.
Defensively, we have enough personnel. The main problem is the linkage between midfield and attack. The players are not sure what next to do when they get to opponents half. That is why we are yet to score more than once from open play. Unlike previous coaches, this coach seems to have drilled the players more defensively.
That is a good thing also, because defences win you tournaments, while attackers win you matches. Against Spain, they will attack us for about 70 minutes because of their gifted team play. If the coach doesnt get it right with the link between midfield and attack, we will not be able to hold.

I think the starting 11 on the first day was balanced to a large extent. They had players wearing 10 and 11 who were combining well, though not physically able to hold against the Germans. Those 2 players will have plenty joy against Spain.

We live to fight another day. Spain will thrash this team 3-0 or more if the coach continues his way.

Half time . Nigeria down 1-0. We will come back, but the Chinese are quite tricky upfront. Good game by the falconets, devoid of major tactical plan, but individual skills.

Our girls have enough to grind out a win today. It's about time they played a good match.

Experience and our keeper. Best in the tournament IMO.

I would pack the bus honestly.
Best tactics for this team is long balls upfield. Without good midfielders, it is better to bypass midfield.. Ajibade and Imo can cause problems upfront.

Tbh I'm not sure the best team won but we'll take it anyhow.
Experience won it for us. The coach is unimpressive. We will beat China
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 5:26pm On Aug 09, 2018
Phew....only just. Draw China and we're through.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 2:37pm On Aug 09, 2018
They are ready. Falconets will be the first team after super eagles to wear this jersey. Hope it brings good luck to them.

Nigeria line up tweaked. Ajibade captains, 3 new players.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 1:11pm On Aug 09, 2018
Germany already 2-0 up. This is good for us. Offcourse we still need to beat Haiti by over 2-0.

France is comprehensively the best team in this competition. The rest are almost on the same level.
You cant judge from first match. Nerves play a role. I think Nigeria will come good. We were defensively intelligent, which is something our youth teams usually lack.

When you involve religion in Nigeria's many problems you become part of the problem.
I agree with you.

I am really impressed with the plays of these two kids. It looks like Nigeria came to play against Germany with only the goalkeeper. What about the emergency defender in Okeke, a striker turned CB? These kids were letdown by their country. From the look of things, they were not fed properly. The presence of Ijamilusi was missed at the midfield.
Actually the defence was very decent. Our main problem was the midfield and the attack. I expected the coach to have resorted to long balls, as clearly Imo was having joy against the German defence. The coach was shouting throughout the match and probably didnt pay attention.

I'm sure Mr President gave the go on on his dismissal. My only issue is with Yomi Shogunle. A young senior officer who lacks professionalism.

I'm waiting for his men to embarrass me again.
That DSS officer with RCCG wristband... Na Osinbajo church member? Looks well fed.

I just caught a bit of Haiti and they are a solid side with massive support. If we don't take them seriously we could be in for a couple surprises. Also Ajibade must be at least 10 times better if we are to go places in this competition or someone else should come to the party.
She will get better. She needs support. She must play as a striker to get the best of her. Germans effectively shut shop against her. I am still sure Haiti go chop like 4-0. It will be like Nigeria vs Gambia.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 1:24pm On Aug 07, 2018
I am not very worried about us qualifying from the group. We are in a good position to beat Haiti and China resoundingly if the coach can work on the attack. My main fear is meeting another rugged European side like England. We seem to come out short.

Deji Adeyanju will be there. Useless PDP errand boy masquerading as democracy activist.

We paid the price for fitness today because our second half was very poor. Ajibade needs to play behind Imo and we need faster wingers.
I believe things will get better. Haiti is a good 2nd match. We will win and score good goals. China vs Germany is key. I need the Germans to beat the Chinese.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 2:27pm On Aug 06, 2018
Its over. Germany 1-0 Nigeria. Good potential in the team, but hindrance is the coach. We need to beat Haiti next to stand any chance.
Ajibade was very very disappointing, probably the coach is not using her well.
Anam Imo needs a partner up front.
The midfield is very good.
The defence is also good.
The coach needs to work on the 2 attacking mids. They need to assist Imo and Ajibade more...How I've missed Osas Igbinovia and Oshoala.

Ajibade was very disappointing today.

This coach cannot even be empathetic with his players. A player has ankle injury and he says 'wetin dey make you cry now'.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 2:00pm On Aug 06, 2018
Unfortunately, we just hit the post with a sweet volley. Player got injured in the process. Another sub likely.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 1:59pm On Aug 06, 2018
If the coach can bloody shut up, surely, the girls can score a goal. Even our coach shouting is waking up the sleepy German defenders.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 1:58pm On Aug 06, 2018
Germany score from a free kick. Everyone who saw the team sheets could have predicted that.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 1:51pm On Aug 06, 2018
Nigerian coach is carried away. Not thinking about scoring, just shouting. How can you see where to take advantage of the Germans when you're shouting like a bus conductor. Hope he remembers to make a substitution to replace our player on yellow.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 1:47pm On Aug 06, 2018
'E wooo.... E calm down' Says the Nigerian coach.

Harsh refereeing incoming.

Every single move by Nigeria going forward is conducted by the loud shouting coach. Funny man, ineffective so far.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 1:18pm On Aug 06, 2018
Half time. Nigeria the team on the ascendancy. We have closed down Germans so much they dont have time to dwell. We need to be more clinical. So far so good.
SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 1:13pm On Aug 06, 2018
Germans fouling us anyhow.

SportsRe: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 1:11pm On Aug 06, 2018
We just missed our best chance so far. We are the only team on the up. Now we need to take a chance before half time to punish these Germans. They cant even move properly anymore.
