A disagreement has broken out between the transition committees of President Goodluck Jonathan and General Muhammadu Buhari as the president accused the Buhari team of acting like a parallel government and trying to stampede the Jonathan administration out of office. Addressing state House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting Wednesday, the Minister of National Planning who is also a member of the Jonathan Transition Committee, Abubakar Suleiman said the Buhari transition team was making impossible demands from the government. Although he did not name those demands, he however warned that the president’s magnanimity should not be construed as cowardice. The fuel scarcity across the country may soon end as President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the Federal Government to pay oil marketers their outstanding claims for the importation of petroleum products. The scarcity of petrol follows the expiration of the three-day ultimatum given by the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) to the Federal Government. While the National Association of Road Transport Owners and Petroleum Tanker Drivers are engaged in a face-off with MOMAN, the major oil marketers are angry with the Federal Government for not paying its members’ subsidy claims. On April 24, 2015 MOMAN even threatened to stop the importation of petroleum products over yet-to-be-paid N256 billion subsidy claim by the Federal Government. Obafemi Olawore, the executive secretary of MOMAN, According to Olawore, the last time the government paid marketers N100 billion subsidy claim was in February and it was paid in Sovereign Debt Note . “But if you deduct the N100 billion from the N315.8 billion, you will have 215.8 billion. Besides, the Petroleum Product Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) had earlier approved Batches T and U for last quarter of 2014 for payment which amounted to N30.5 billion. “In 2015, we also have Batches A and B for the products imported by MOMAN which has been approved by PPPRA but had not been paid. This also amounted to N9.7 billion. So the money put together is N256 billion,” he said. Following the threat by the oil marketers to stop importation, scarcity of petroleum products has worsened in Abuja, parts of lagos and other major cities across the country. Long queues were witnessed between Tuesday and Wednesday morning in most parts of Lagos. Residents complained that the scarcity and the rise in price of petrol negatively affect their businesses. Kunle Aberuagba, a commercial driver, said that the scarcity has affected him and his family because there is no job for him to do without fuel. “I cannot work as a driver and because of this to even feed my family is a difficult thing and it also makes my boss not to trust me. I queue three times in a week looking for fuel and because of this the money that I used to make I don’t get it now,” he lamented. According to Mohammed Sanni, a commercial driver at Oshodi, “Fuel is scarce for no reason and we are really suffering especially us drivers. As you know, drivers are always on the road to carry passengers and because of the scarcity of fuel we couldn’t make the money we used to make before. “Can you imagine queuing for so many hours at filling station? It is very sad. I don’t think other countries are facing this problem we are facing. So we want the government to look for a solution by putting an end to this deliberately created problem,” he said. “The scarcity is also affecting us mechanics. When some of our customers bring their cars to us for repairs, they complain that there is no fuel in their car to drive it. Some have even decided to abandon their cars because of the scarcity of fuel. They are now forced to board public bus to their offices and other businesses,” said John Okoafor. Cyril Okon, a businessman also expressed his opinion about the problem: “My customer called me to supply goods. The cost of the goods last year was N5,500 but because of the recent development it has increased to N7,000 and when I told him he was shocked. He later agreed to buy the goods but on transporting the goods to him I was charged N1,500 by the taxi driver. The former fare was just N500.” Meanwile, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has assured Nigerians that it has enough stock of petrol to service the country for 27 days at a national consumption rate of 40 million litres per day. http://www.metronaija.com/2015/04/goodluck-jonathan-orders-oil-marketers.html |
Fredrick Fasheun, the founder of the Oodua Peoples Congress, was sacked from the position of the organization’s president. OPC President Frederick Fasheun Overthrown He was overthrown by a faction of the group led by Comrade Dare Adesope, PM News reports. The news was announced on April 28, Tuesday, in Ikotun, Lagos, at the OPC secretariat. Explaining the reason behind the removal, Adesope said that the Congress lost confidence in the leadership of Fasheun who had thrown the organisation into crisis and politics. Adesope confirmed that backed by several OPC members, he had been declared the new president noting that the Congress was not established “to run monarchical system of government. How can one person be directing its affairs for 20 consecutive years?” “Fasheun is no more the president of OPC and he was removed because of his reprehensible act and that it is high time the Yoruba leaders joined forces with the new leadership of the congress to move the region forward.” Speaking about the further plans, he claimed that the new management of the OPC would act in consonance with the 1999 Constitution, as opposed to “autocracy where one person took all the decisions on behalf of the organisation without consulting the National Executive Council”. http://www.metronaija.com/2015/04/opc-president-frederick-fasheun.html

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, has warned that employment of children below the age of 12 as domestic helps is now a criminal offense, which attracts a minimum jail term of two years with no option of fine. The Director-General of NAPTIP, Mrs Beatrice Jedy Agba, who made this known while presenting the new Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act in Abuja yesterday, said “the Act has come into operation with effect from March 26th, 2015, which is the date that President Goodluck Jonathan assented to it”. She added that “The New Act prohibits the employment of a child below the age of 12 years as a domestic help, while the exploitation of a child under the age of 18 years who is employed as a domestic help is also prohibited”. Mrs. Agba recalled that the Agency in 2011, based on identified gaps in the TIP Act 2003 as amended in 2005, had proposed its re-enactment to enable NAPTIP and its partners combat trafficking in persons better than it was doing. http://www.metronaija.com/2015/04/employ-maid-under-12-yrs-and-go-to-jail.html |

I used to do this thing called the dirt where I dig deep into some actions of our celebs and give my own take.Maybe I should bring that back.(If you have any dirt, feel free to email me lol). Here's our uncovered dirt for the day .. So I was going through Instagram last night and saw Lola Omotayo's post .She put up Boris Kodjeo's photo and captioned it "Nothing like a Godfearing supersexy man#teamjesus#onewomanman".. It was so unlike her..She has never put up a picture of any man other than that of her husband Peter..Some fans even called her derogatory names for the post and she didn't budge or remove it.. This morning,Peter Okoye just posted this banging photo and captioned it "Single & Searching" Thinking what I'm thinking? It could just be nothing but,it looks like there is a silent war brewing between the couple and Lola's caption says it all... Not to worry, that's just what married couples do from time to time..Trying to make each other jealous. http://www.metroparrot.net/2015/04/peter-okoye-wife-lola-having-silent.html

Article written by Charly Boy. Read below... I must first congratulate Mr. President, Goodluck Joanatan for his maturity, magnanimity and statesmanship by being the first to congratulate General Muhammadu Buhari on his win at the polls, e no easy sha. Accepting defeat. This is a sign of a shift in the right direction. Nigerians should be proud of the freest and the fairest election ever! Elections in Africa, over time, have come to be a time of despair for contesting candidates, and for the citizenry whose energies at seeking decent leadership for their countries have always been a worthless effort. It is also a time for the opposition to endure all that comes with an uneven political playing field such as harassment of opposition leaders and their members as well as the abuse of state machinery to further intimidate opposition supporters and retain government. For the electorate, it is again, a time when they have to be fed on a diet of lies, misconceptions and falsehood, those similar to folktales. In short, tales by moonlight. Snce the birth of our democracy, it has never been said that incumbent administration lost presidential spot; even though we have seen a few States like Oyo where incumbents have never returned to that seat. In the same vein, elections have always been marred with clear signs of malpractices until the 2011 polls that saw the installment of Jega as the Electoral Boss. For the first time, we had an election that was adjudged by all as free and fair, as was evident that the people’s choice emerged. This year again, history has been repeated and made even better. These elections have been ruled by not a few to be free and fair; which might, for the first time in history, change the history of oppositions and power of incumbency. I should probably say that this man Jega is a man of many firsts, besides his obvious qualities of courage and tenacity. I have never been into Nigerian politics but when it comes to identifying and celebrating deviants (in a good way), I really do for obvious reasons: I am one myself. This time around we need to give it to this man Jega. He deserves our standing or sitting ovation. I wish that our youth can learn a thing or two from his administration, his willingness and ability to take in pressure, not break, stay focused and deliver on set task not minding whose ass is bleeped. I want to now see a Nigeria where our youth will rise up and take the challenge to do things right even in the face of great opposition and going outside the norm. A nation where the youth are driven by the desire to do what is right and not what is normal, bearing in mind that the annals of history have no space to feature men who repeat history, rather, men who deemed it worthwhile to go out of their way, break protocols, create new realms and standards. Jega is a lesson in calmness, a brilliant Professor and am very proud of him. Today, the International Community is full of accolades for Nigeria because of this achievement. Everybody, including the super powers, has one thing or the other to learn from this to better their own. Now, that's unbelievable as commendable! Say what you may about Jega, failed card readers, lateness of INEC officials to polling units, late accreditation, late night voting, announcing of election results in series as in soap operas, whatever; this man is a moving train. He knows what he's doing and Nigerians better know that. In my opinion, and I think I speak for many, the success of the 2015 presidential elections is a vote for Jega. Once again, I salute your courage Attahiru Jega, history, I am sure, has a place for men like you. Once again our young democracy seems maturing as elections can be said to reflect the will of the people. I can’t judge if that 'will' however, is the best alternative to our young democracy but we sure have joined the rest of some other African countries like South Africa, Benin Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal and Ghana, who have taken the courage to move away from the ruling party syndrome. So fellow Nigerians, with a standing ovation wherever you're reading this, raise your glasses, let's doff our hats as I propose a toast to the focused, undeterred, visionary, tenacious, resilient and outstandingly brilliant Professor, Atahiru Jega!! http://www.metroparrot.net/2015/04/i-have-been-jegamycind-by-charly-boy.html |

President Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians to exercise patience as they wait for the Independent National Electoral Commission to collate and announce results of Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections. Jonathan who is the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the election made the call in a post on his Facebook page. Anxiety has been gripping Nigerians over what many saw as the slow pace of collating the results across the country with political parties making claims and counter-claims. The All Progressives Congress had issued a statement on Sunday, alleging that the Jonathan administration was planning to manipulate the results. The claim had been faulted by the PDP. Jonathan, however, advised Nigerians to wait patiently for the results the same way they waited to vote on Saturday. He urged them not to embark on any acts that could lead to breakdown of law and order. The President wrote, “We waited patiently to vote in these elections, now I want to urge all Nigerians to also wait patiently for the Independent National Electoral Commission to collate and announce results. “We must ensure that we do not get involved in acts that breach our peaceful co-existence that we patriotically demonstrated during the elections. “May God bless Nigeria.” http://www.metronaija.com/2015/03/wait-patiently-for-inec-to-announce.html http://www.punchng.com/news/wait-patiently-for-inec-to-announce-results-jonathan/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter |
