PoliticsGunmen Abduct Winners Pastor During Prayer Session by olokfor(op): 5:00pm On Jun 14, 2015
Seyi Adekunle of Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel was on Saturday evening abducted by gunmen who invaded the church while he and other pastors were having prayer session in the church in preparation for Sunday services.

The gunmen numbering five were said to have stormed the church at about 7.50 pm when the pastors were praying in the main auditorium of the church and shot sporadically into the air before grabbing the pastor and bundling him into their car and drove off.

“Normally on Saturdays, we have a number of activities but the pastors prayer session comes last, it was while the session was in progress that the boys came in, shot into the air and took our pastor away”. A source in the church told Vanguard.

Pastor Seyi who is the head pastor of Province Two of the Church located along IBB Way, opposite the Margaret Ekpo International Airport according to our source has been in charge of the church since 2014 and has been carrying out massive construction work in the crouch.

‘He came here in 2014 and has been doing a lot work through the construction of a massive complex for the church auditorium and office accommodation which might have given the kidnappers the impression that he has money to give them as ransom”.

When Vanguard visited the church at about 1.00 pm on Sunday afternoon, the second service in the church was in progress handled by Pastor Seyi’s assistants and there was police presence outside inside the hall and in the premises.

“There was no policeman on duty here yesterday when the incident happened but this morning we had to request for some policemen from the Airport Police Station close by and these six policemen you see here were deployed to forestall any recurrence of what took place last night”

Mr Hogan Bassey, the spokesman of the Cross River State Police Command says the kidnappers are yet to make any demands “but we are closing on them and very soon I shall inform you on how far we have gone” he said

Yesterday,Social media was trending with news of Toke Makinwa's husband impregnating his ex girlfriend.According to a report by SDK,Maje has been in a relationship with his Calabar based ex,Anita Solomon for 8 years..Worthy of note is the fact that,Toke and Maje dated for 12 years before they secretly got married in 2014..

Now, was he keeping his marriage secret because he had skeletons in his closet,or was it a mutual desicion betwen both of them? That is still a mystery..However,SDK says Anita is now in the UK,where she is expected to give birth..

Before the news broke,Toke posted some interesting memes on Instagram yesterday ..She later deleted one which talks about a cheating man..I however saved the meme because i liked the wordings

She has become a subject of jokes and ridicule because some of her most popular vlogs are on how to cheat-proof your relationship, how not to be a side chick and how to keep a Nigerian man..If this story is true, then it's really so sad...See below

PoliticsOver 100m Nigerians Live Below Poverty Level- VP Osinbajo by olokfor(op): 9:06am On Jun 14, 2015
Vice-president, Yemi Osinbanjo who delivered the 10th anniversary lecture of Crescent University, Abeokuta, tagged, “The Nigerian Economy and the Future”, yesterday said that some tough decisions would have to be taken to put the country back on the path of genuine growth and development in line with the All Progressives Party (APC) programme.

He also said that large-scale corrupt practices and dubious awards of contract in Nigeria’s power sector by past administrations were responsible for inadequate and epileptic power supply in the country.
He said that despite several billions dollar-investment in power generation and distribution over the years by government, businesses and Nigerians still suffer greatly on account of electricity and suggests that there should be a total overhaul in the sector in terms of generation and distribution if all efforts on power production must be achieved.

According to him, records showed that series of contracts were awarded in the power sector for several years and are still ongoing without any real improvement.

He said,

“Though Nigeria needs more than 10,000MW to stabilise economic growth, the present capacity of power transmission lines cannot distribute more than 5,000 MW since the improvement works on transmission lines have been stagnant over years and should be improved upon if Nigeria must achieve tangible output from the sector.

“Unfaithful to awards of contract and execution of contracts being awarded are the major challenges. Several contracts in that regards have been awarded several years back, but have not been completed.

“What is being produced now is less than 3,000 MW. Our transmission grid today can only transmit 5,000 MW and we need to improve on transmission capacity to transmit enough power needed to stabilise economy. That is why the private investors have to increase capital investment in power sector.

“Insurgency and instability of government is a major setback especially in the agricultural sector. Agriculture contributes 24% to Nigeria GDP but the 24% is under threat because of the insurgency in the North East”.

The pastor who predicted that there will be many deaths in Nollywood in 2013 and he was right further called on the Nigerian entertainment industry to pray against the deaths of 6 top stars.

According to the founder of Mountain of Blessing and Miracle Church of Christ, “Funke Akindele needs to pray hard so as to have a child before she goes back to her creator. She will be reeling in blessing and all good things of life. If care is not taken, she won’t have a child before she dies. The entertainment industry in Nigeria should pray that six super stars shall not die this year.

They should also be prayerful and rely on God because in finding what they didn’t lose, they may meet their Waterloos.”

PoliticsJune 12: Lagos State Declares Friday Public Holiday by olokfor(op): 12:18pm On Jun 11, 2015
Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has declared Friday, June 12 as a work free day in commemoration of the annulment of the June 12 1993 elections.

On June 12, 1993, then military government led by Gen Ibrahim Babangida annulled the general election which was presumed to have been won by late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola.

In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ambode, Mr. Habib Aruna, the governor said the date marked a watershed in the annals of transparent, free and fair elections in the country.

He said June 12, 1993 was the day Nigerians voted in one voice across ethnic, racial and religious lines, saying it represented the real democracy day when Nigerians said no to voting along ethnic lines.
The governor said regrettably, 22 years after the annulment, the Nigerian nation is still grappling with some of the vices which the June 12, 1993 elections sought to confine to the dustbin of history through undue clinging to ethnic cleavages by some political gladiators.

He urged residents to spend the day in sober reflection and in remembrance of the martyrs of the June 12 elections struggle in prayers for laying the foundation of the democracy which the nation is now enjoying.

PoliticsSaraki, Dogara Pro-pdp —lai Mohammed by olokfor(op): 3:24pm On Jun 10, 2015
The National Publicity of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Lai Mohammed has described the present composition of the leadership of the nation’s National Assembly, the Senate headed by Senator Olusola Saraki, and the House of Representatives, led by Yakubu Dogara, as pro-Peoples Democratic Party.

Mohammed, while speaking on Sunrise Daily on Channels Television Wednesday, stated that the action of some of its members over what happened on Tuesday during the inauguration of the 8th National Assembly, deserves punishment.
Lai Mohammed

“What we have in the Senate now is a pro-PDP Senate which is not in the interest of our party. How do you expect us to sit with Ekweremadu and Mark and discuss matters of national importance?

“These are part of the old Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) order we struggled to defeat at the centre. So how can we then sit down with them to discuss issues of national importance with these people?” he querid.

When reminded that the APC still controls majority at the National Assembly, Mohammed stated that the National Assembly leadership as currently constituted is an ally of the PDP, “because it got its mandate through the block votes of the PDP. Remember, there were only eight APC Senators who voted for Saraki. The balance which is 49 are from PDP. In the House of Representatives, only 30 APC members voted for Yakubu Dogara. So you can see that the National Assembly is pro-PDP.

“They even overreached themselves by naming David Mark as the Senate Leader before they realised the illegality of their action and reverse themselves.”

Mohammed stated further that insamuch as the party will not want to lose its members, those involved will still be sanctioned because “the indiscipline should not be allowed to go just like that. If this is allowed to go, then it means any member can perpetrate bigger indiscipline and hope to get away with it.”

PoliticsNigeria's Seventh Senate Ends, Passes 123 Bills by olokfor(op): 3:48pm On Jun 04, 2015
The Seventh Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Thursday ended its tenure with a valedictory session witnessed by past leaders of the institution.

In his closing speech, Senate President David Mark congratulated his colleagues for a successful session reeling out bills initiated by the lawmakers which eventually became laws after assent by the executive.

Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba said the Seventh Senate considered and passed 123 out of the 591 bills introduced to the upper chamber in the last four years while the rest were in different stages of legislative processes.

A last minute effort to veto the non-assent of the fourth amendment of the 1999 Constitution hit a brick-wall and was stepped down by the Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba.

Most senators that spoke praised the seventh National Assembly for stabilizing Nigeria's democracy and challenging executive excesses.

A bricklayer and choirmaster, Adewale Babalola, who allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of a 16-year-old chorister in his church, was on Thursday brought before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

The accused, 36, who lives at No. 11, Maxwell Ijeh St., Aguda in Surulere area of Lagos, is facing a charge of unlawful sexual intercourse.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Godwin Anyanwu, the accused committed the offence on Dec. 2, 2014 at his apartment.

He said the accused took undue advantage of his relationship with the teenager as her choirmaster at Christ Our Light Glory Church, Sanya in Surulere, to commit the crime.
“The girl told her father, who is also an evangelist in the church that the accused lured her into his room and forcefully had a carnal knowledge of her.

“The father reported the matter to the General Overseer of the church, but no action was taken which compelled the victim’s father to report the matter at the police station,” Anyanwu said.
The offence, Anyanwu noted, violated Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Babalola, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Soladoye, directed that the case file should be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
Section 137 prescribes life imprisonment for child rape.

The magistrate granted the accused bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to June 29 for DPP’s advice.(NAN)

Nigerian Pastor Who Met Queen Of England, JT Bandele Narrates Encounter

This is an interesting story of a CAC Pastor who got an invitation from the Queen of England for an event at Buckingham Palace last month.

It was written by Joshua Bandele days after the encounter.

In his words;

”On Wednesday 20th May 2015, my wife and I attended a garden tea party at Buckingham Palace….to say it was a glorious day and a day to remember, forever is an understatement.

Upon arrival, at BP Buckingham Palace) we parked our car at The Mall (as one could not park in front of BP). We affixed the Royal stick on the left hand side of the car and walked to BP.

As we walked to BP, observing many others like us whom were invited and dressed to impress for the occasion. We queue up for around 5-10 minutes.
At the gate, we were asked by police offices for our invitation and a proof of our names (driving license or passport were the sufficient verification). Once we gain access to the palace, the nerves and excitement were equally electrifying.

As we were ushered into the palace by guards, we immediately noticed were the food queue was and we got in line.

After receiving all the delicates (Victoria sponge cakes, brownies, various sandwiches, lemon cured, and many more), we were told the queen was on her way to the tea to join us for the party so everyone was told to form a curve line whilst the queen and her entourage walked pass…After pushing our way close to the front, my wife complained about her restriction to see, hence I managed to smuggle my way through the crowd some more and we ended up right in front by the tent.

After about 10mins of waiting on the queen…One of the palace custodian asked us if we would like to speak with the Duke. ..Immediately, I was stoned and unable to speak. However, I could hear my wife replying ‘yes please’ and the crowd around me whispering in amazement ‘wow’…that’s when I woke up.

The custodian handed us over to another custodian who took our names and titles and then introduced us to the duke. It was at this time we noticed the crowds all attention was on us.
The Duke extended his hand and ask for my name and title… I introduced myself and my wife…confirmed I was the senior pastor of Christ Apostolic church in Seven sister.. by the look on the duke face he had never heard of our church before so, I went on to give him a brief history lesson of the church – that it was the first black Pentecostal church in Europe, it was founded in Nigeria by Apostles Bababola.

Then the duke asked me what led me to the UK…so I replied ‘studying at first then until later the church authority posted me. Then he asked how myself and my wife met… In which i went onto another brief history… (We all joked and laughed) and he then finally jokingly asked me when I was planning to go back to Nigeria… In which I laughed and said not yet and that I have come to stay.

We laughed again then he shook my hand and headed towards the tent.
The queen walked graciously behind the duke whilst smiling at us the whole time.

The crowd was then left to network amongst themselves. ..Then that’s when it began. ..I had an elderly white couple came up to ask me if I was famous and that’s why the duke conversed with me and for so long… In which my wife proudly replied ‘yes’.. You may have seen or heard him around he is the senior pastor of the first black Pentecostal church in the uk’..

The elderly appalled me at the remarks of my wife and we joked briefly. It was at this point I realised that when we were conversing with the Duke earlier the whole crowd was watching us… this was confirmed by another couple who came to ask us ‘what was the conversation with the Duke about. What did he say? How did we reply etc… We were asked a few more questions by other members of the crowd (Infact I felt more famous than the royals at one point…haha)…It was at this point I realised how fortunate it was to be here and to be admired by so many.

We walked around the crowd with beaming smiles on our faces whilst enjoying the ice cream desert handed to us by the waiters.
We then listened to the live music band and walked around to view and appreciated the scenery.
This brought a beautiful end to a beautiful day. We left the palace at around 6.30pm and headed home.
