Webmasters / Re: How To Market My PHP And MySQL Skills by OluAbuja(m): 1:15pm On Dec 19, 2006
Do you really need my candid experience/opinion?

When my partner and I started some 3years, what we did was
to divide the market place into sectors and developed strategies of
reaching out to all of them.

Strategy One: Divide the market place into sectors i.e.
1. Educational Sector with focus on Private Secondary Schools
2. Real Estate Sector
3. Oil and Gas
4. Small business firms - Expecially companies in plazas and corner shops
5. Hospitals
6. Hotels
7. Models, Actors/Actresses and Comedians
7. Identify more sectors that might need websites e.t.c

Strategy Two:
We bought the Abuja Yellow Pages Directory and made visits and phone calls.
So, get lay your hands on several business directories in your state and call or visit the companies.
You can set some new standard in your city or state.

Strategy Three:
Pricing: Determine how much you will be charging for domain name registration, hosting and
designing of the website based on the applications you want to use. You can request for price
from existing website designers so that you will know how to fix your own price.

Strategy Four:
Place adverts in your local newspapers, magazines, on Radio and TV. Print handbills and flyers and give
to your friends and family, Church and Mosque members, Business card. Your own personal website you can
send people to verify e.t.c.

Strategy Five:
The Bible says, seeth thou a man diligent in his business, he shall stand before kings and not mean men.
You must be diligent in this business. There is no room for hit and run. Be committed to it and once people
know that you are consistent and committed to it, jobs will naturally roll in.
Be a man/woman of prayers. Sow a seed of free website designed for somebody or a company.

Strategy Six: Develop more plans not listed above.

It will amaze you the amount of money you can make in 2007 if you take some lessons from my experience
/opinion has highlighted above.

Remain blessed,

Olu Joseph in Abuja.

Hi everybody,

Did you watch 9:00p.m NTA news yesterday? The PDAs were displayed on TV by INEC. May be it will
be shown again today. I actually expect the Nigerian Press to talk about the equipment instead of
writing junks in their papers.

You guys cannot imagine what i have gone through in the last 48hours of collating
the team.

I am through with the following states: Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Kwara, Kogi, Edo, Delta,
Niger, Cross River, Nasarawa, Plataeu, Benue, and Kaduna states

Naijastar, i need competent IT/Technical guys up north. If you can just collate their names
and GSM and send to the email address given below.

Naijacutee, thanks for your encouragement. Keep the flag flying in Oyinbo Land.

I have already contacted some Nairalanders.

My main concern now is the logistics in the states but i am sure we will surmount it.

Let us all pray for the success of the voter's registration and then we can expect a good
election come 2007.

Keep faith guys.

Computers / Bill Gates Tops 400 Billionaires In America. by OluAbuja(m): 1:31pm On Sep 22, 2006
Did you know that Bill Gates is worth $53 billion? He has
held the No. 1 spot for the last 13 years while Buffett has
been No. 2 every year since 1994 except 2000, when Larry Ellison
of Oracle Corp. held that spot.

Know more about some of the 400 American billionaires here;
http://www.forbes.com/feeds/ap/2006/09/21/ap3036646.html?partner=alerts

Come to think of it, wouldn't it be nice to know the number of billionaires
in Nigeria? Should we also be concerned about how they made their money?

What do you think?

Web Market / Re: $2.99 Domain Names at Yahoo (I bought some) by OluAbuja(m): 2:53pm On Jul 01, 2006
Be warned Nigerians.

Webmasters in Nigeria should stay away permanently from 1and1 dot com.

I personally lost hundreds of dollars when they terminated my account
last year though i was able to transfer some of my domain names.

My friends at domainstandard.net were really unlucky. They have not been able to get
their domain names transfered. I recently asked domainstandard.net to authenticate
the transfer of a domain name they registered with 1and1 dot com for one of my clients
but up till now 1and1 has refused to do it.

If you don't want to have high blood pressure, you must stay away from 1and1 dot com

Webmasters / Re: Omotola.com Domain Name For Sale At $325,000 by OluAbuja(m): 4:36pm On Jun 30, 2006
It is really a pity that she has lost this domain name.

This brings to fore the ignorance of our people (Including webmasters).

There is a lot of money to be made in registering and selling domain names
on the Internet.

Let me ask you a question, Do you have your own domain name?

Guys, maybe this is an opportunity for you to start making money from all these
our politicians since they are all now interested in becoming president in 2007.

You can set apart some money and start buying domain names of popular politicians,
bankers, actors, actresses, e.t. and by the time they will be waking up from
their sleep, you will be selling the domain names at high prices to them .

Another loop hole in domain name buying and selling is that there is no law in Nigeria
that regulates or punishes anybody who register's another person's name lipsrsealed

Can we then send a paper to the National Assembly on this issue. They are all still sleeping.

What do you think?

https://www.buydomains.com/servlet/PrivateSale?page=contact&bd_order_id=7643076&key=yyxyfkQ8

My wife's name is also Omotola and in December 2003, i wanted to get a website for her but when i did a domain search, i discovered that our actress Omotola had taken the .com so i proceeded to register the .net for my wife.

Just this morning, i wanted to check the latest info on our dear Omotola at her website www.omotola.com but was shocked to discover that she had lost the domain name to domain traders.

The questions that came to my mind were?

1. Did she refuse to pay the renewal fee for the domain name?
2. Didn't her webmater tell her the possibility of loosing the domain name to domain traders?

I can't believe it that our own omotola could have made a mistake of loosing her domain name.

This is a big lesson to all of us.

Your comments are welcome

"Congrats! You have won N50,000. Your number was among the lucky numbers in the Chevron/Texaco Bonanza with Ref. No ?. Call this ? to claim your prize"

I called the number stated and a guy confirmed to me that my Glo line number has won the N50,000 and i must collect the cash within 72hours.

Does anybody work in Glo, Chevron or Texaco and can confirm this for me before i proceed to Lagos?

Or has anyone of you guys won such a bonanza? Maybe you know someone who has.

I call my wife Mama, Mama T or just her name, Tola depending on the situation. She calls me Temi (My Own) at all times.

Our 5year old daugter has noticed this, so any time she wants to get something from me she calls me Temi and it makes me laugh when she does that - It means she understands the special attention the nickname draws). At some other times she calls my wife by her name Tola. We try to tell her to call us Mummy and Daddy but i guess its what she hears most of the time that she wants to call us expecially when we are all at home. I also noticed that she will only call us those names right in the house and never outside.

Crime / Re: Christians Killing Muslims In Onitsha by OluAbuja(m): 8:44pm On Feb 24, 2006
I think what we need is more education and i am sure
many muslims are not aware of the position of Prophet Mohammed.

It is unislamic to kill Christians.

Read what a muslim professor said "Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him)
himself was recorded in history to have issued the instruction to the Muslim Army
before they set out on an expedition thus: "Do not deceive, do not disfigure, do not
kill children and those in churches." (L’elaa-us-Sunan vol. 12 page 31; Idaratul Qur’aan).
In the light of the above it should be clear that it is unIslamic to hide under the cloak of
religion to kill innocent people and destroy their property"
