Applying the Manure and the Ssp in the middle of the bed.

It works perfectly than just applying at a spot

Is this method diff from the convectional basal method where manure/fertilizer are buried few inches away from the seedlings?

In response to the rise in price you posted above, i remember I made d comment below around June in one of ur maize/cassava thread.

OluchiDelly:

When everyone plants at the onset of rain in April, the effect is glut after 2 months time. Another fairly short period of cashing out will be in the next 2 months when then current batches have been exhausted, so the right time to plant is now!

Not really biase but facts. Ansal had 190g weights, Kilele about 120g while Padma was 85g. If these go to the market, more people will patronise the large type fruits and definitely command more price.

In Nigeria, there are still good varieties available from the kilele f1 to the Gamhar Rz f1 and Rambo f1 because these ones guarantee above 100g if your management is good. It seems the cobra 26 F1 is not red enough !

It's ok. The color appears stretched and blurred cos i over cropped the original pic from almost 1mb to below 250kb B4 it can be uploaded.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: My Experience With FRSC Recruitment Portal by OluchiDelly: 10:51pm On Jul 30, 2021
RedEnergy:
Here's my story. I heard about the FRSC ongoing recruitment, so in order to apply i opened the official government FRSC recruitment portal https://www.recruitment.frsc.gov.ng.

After filling all my details, i clicked the submit button. But to my greatest surprise, i got an error message on the page saying this:

"Sorry, the E-Mail you are trying to register with is already in use by another user, please if it was you, try logging in with your user account and try this application again."

I was shocked, because i never in my life applied for FRSC before and it was my direct personal email i used, nobody has access to use that email and i was not hacked before, so how can another user already be using my email on FRSC?

Ok, i said you know what, let me try again eith my second email address. Guess what happened? After clicking submit, i got another error message saying this:

"Sorry, you have a pending application on this portal, kindly check your E-Mail for instructions"

I was shocked again, because i have never applied to FRSC before, so how could i have a pending application? And i have never received any email from FRSC portal before, since i have never applied. I have tried again with a 3rd email and it's still saying the same thing.

Then it dawned on me that is this not recruitment fraud going on? Who has been using people's emails to set up fake applications? Because i have never applied before and all 3 emails i tried with have been taken. Later they will say recruitment application is over and portal closed but it's fake. This is my experience with FRSC recruitment portal.

the world needs to know the truth about the extreme level of rottenness and corruption in Nigeria government.

Before u open the portal, open your e mail account first, don't log out, then open the frsc portal (using the password sent to ur email). Click on your name, "my application" and "complete application"to continue with the remaining pages.

He didn't come out straight but you will notice Ansal F1 from seminis and Kilele f1 from Syngentha is preferred by him due to their disease resistance and big sized fruits.
East west has a new product called Diva F1. It may be better than the padmas and platinums in size and look (red colour). Any tomato below 100g at this age is a no-no for the current competition. What's the average yield for these padmas?
Cos I know a Rambo F1 farmer who gets 30 tonnes/acre in a group consistently.
Seminis have a new breed called the Xaman F1 but is not available here. It caught my eye because it does not need staking.
What's the major feature of the xaman F1 that makes it not to require staking?

For me I planted both cobra 26 f1 and platinum f1 I discovered platinum is overrated compare to cobra and has low tolerance for bacteria Wilt

My brother cobra F1 na one stubborn n rugged plant/fruits. Flood overtook my farm after many days of prolonged rainfall, yet it did not succumb to wilting easily. people who have not planted it before assume the fruit is too small, maybe because the breeders even underrated it by quoting 80g as the avg weight. I got about 110g avg, some fruits that we left on the kitchen shelf almost 2weeks remained intact.

star force. How Big is your farm? What is the level of weed and cassava? You g can as well use contact herbicide too.

StarForce is good but it can only kill grasses and all plants(like maize) that the leaves look like that of grass , all broad leaves will be smiling after application. He can use it if all the weeds on his farm is grass.
Force-uron is better if the weed is less than a month, it is selective for cassava and yam and kill both grass and broadleaves.

Btw, what variety did you plant? Local or hybrid?

@OluchiDelly good morning sir, sorry to disturb you with this but there is no better person I can ask but you our okra expert..

sir from the pic of an okra basin attached below how large do you think a farm land will be in order to produce 200basin of okra, GAP, fertile land, fertiliser, dwarf hybrid seeds, irrigation etc take it all is available.

I for 1 am of the opinion 5plot of a 100by 100 can give it, sire ur opinion is awaited

Hello brotherly,

First of all, this issue of controversial measurements of plots across diff states of federation is funny.
Some places like ogun and Lagos, it's 120ft by 60ft, some states like osun, etc, it's 100 by 50, yours is 100 by 100, the thing no balance at all. Your 5plots of 100 by 100 is 10plots (100by50) in my area.
To your question sir, with all the conditions you stated above, 200baskets for the whole lifetime of the crop is possible from 5plots of 100by100 ( this is almost 2 acre in my side grin )

Btw, did u just say i be expert? i be learner o.

Why can't you buy seed and nurse yourself? . In just 20days u can transplant if u do a well structured raised bed. Don't let ppl sell local variety seedlings to you as hybrid.

I have about 20g (jaguar F1) left over from the 50g tin i bought. I can sell 10g to you at a give away price.

The first pix appears to be insect infection.
2nd pix is due to sudden exposure to sunlight. The fruits have probably bn displaced by wind or human activities from the tomato leaves that was covering/shielding it from direct sun rays.
Agriculture / Re: Can I Plant White Beans Now In The Southwest?? by OluchiDelly: 6:18pm On Jul 06, 2021
Alberttahir:

They are wrong. Beans farming is profitable if planted at the right time and properly managed. I did a trial with local variety last year and was amazed at the outcome. Sowed 3 small milk tin of it and got more than five bowl (happy family rubber, the 35ltr type). It was intercrop with cassava and maize. But its harvesting is very stressful once it start drying. Any dried one not harvested will rot if there's rainfall. That's why the planning is very important, just like someone earlier pointed out (planting it 40 days towards the end of the raining season). Plan the planting in a way that there'll be no frequent rainfall on its drying period.

How did you remove the shell?

Osun has many farm markets, it depends on the one closer to your location/farm:
Sekona market beside Ede,

Pls which months do you have glut in the South-West and which months do we have relative scarcity of Okra? Plus what is the current estimated price per bag or basket in the Southwest.

OluchiDelly:

From mid Dec to May, okra is scarce. I don't have the idea of the current price for now.
i was in the market to do market survey in prep for our tom and pepper that will be hitting market.
The attached bucket is the yardstick commonly used for okra, pepper, tom in Osun state. It's around 8 to 9L capacity, that's about 2 small paint rubber. Farmers can decide to measure 2, 3, 4, 5... of the bucket into a basket as we don't have a standard basket measurement here .

Okra is 1.2k(m still surprised okra is still on high side at this time)
Pepper is 3.5 to 3k
Tom(local) is 2k.
