Business / Re: Worst Days Over For Nigerias Economy, Says Tony Elumelu by Oluwadare: 1:08pm On Oct 24, 2018
Like I keep saying, there would always be a room for more developments in our agitation for workable and conducive environment in our country. I.e if an opportunity comes and I see better individual than this current ones at the helm of the country I'd be gladly support him/her, but right now, there is just no one contesting against PMB that is better than him. No one. Vote PMB out now is like taking a step forward and dozens backward.

Politics / Re: Minimum Wage: We Can’t Pay N24, 000 – NGF by Oluwadare: 9:52am On Oct 19, 2018
rottennaija:

I don't agree. The cost of running government is too high. Yes, salary is a recurrent expenditure, but if they show you how much they pay in a month, you will realize it's not big.

The main problem is their own recurrent expenditure. Take for example, why on earth will a common commissioner be going around the town with 5 cars on his convoy? How much is he spending on fuel, tires, servicing, feeding those he goes around with?

And if there are say 30 commissioners, you can imagine how many cars and humans they are spending on.

How about SSG? Deputy Gov? Gov himself?

In addition to how much they are looting through inflation of contract, security vote?

Then imagine those in the federal setup, ministers, both Junior and senior, SGF, vp, president, chief of staff.

Then you think about the state legislatures, LG chairman, Federal legislators, senators?

Salary or minimum wage is not had to pay. But these people are so used to these opulent lifestyle that they wouldn't sacrifice it for anything.

Why the heck do we have both the senate and the house of reps?

I still maintain that our cost of governance is too much. That's why we can build roads, hospitals, schools, railways, or pay salaries.
you really expatiated everything to the brim, I keep asking myself where Nigeria would become good is coming from exactly. Because these people called our politicians would rather run the country aground than review their sumptuous lifestyles to the betterment of plebeian Nigerians. Till this moment, we still don't know how much is the budget for our senate house. Nigeria issue is beyond perception and assimilation to me.

Politics / Re: Obasanjo Vs Tinubu: Who Is More Powerful And Influential? by Oluwadare: 7:08pm On Oct 11, 2018
Somehow difficult to extrapolate as per who is more influential between these great men. Having said that, if I'm given the task to choose just one between them, then my decision would be based on what I really want and need from the chosen one. For instance, assuming I want an international PR no doubt I'd prefer to pitch my tents with OBJ(case study Atiku Abu-Bakar).Reason being, having been a president before would always give OBJ that respected international voice any day any time more than Asiwaju.

However, if I decided to follow the political scientology saying that, politics is local and also a game of number, then, Asiwaju might be considered here (case study-- Muhamadu Buhari)Reason being. Asiwaju is more plumbed with all these plebeians mostly in SW. Due to my above explanations, the yardstick to juxtapose more influential person between them, would always be on the political calculation ground. Hence, it's very vague to choose between them. But on the scale of % I would give Asiwaju 60% while OBJ 40%.

Further, there was a time when Omisore appeared to be the most influential politician in just concluded Osun state gubernatorial election. This is because he was well grounded in his locality. So, if I'm at a gun-point, then, I'd give it to Asiwaju.

Phones / Re: If Only Glo Would Prioritize The Quality Of Their Network by Oluwadare: 12:18pm On Oct 05, 2018
I always have lenient sympathy for Glo being the only company in that sector fully owned by Nigerian. As a result of this, many Nigerians would really like them to succeed and become a market leader of her sector. The issue of Glo network fluctuations ain't something new and I've concluded within myself that, it's also one of those Nigeria-factors in which we barely maintain anything. Being that, I don't even see it as anything anymore.

I assumed they have marketing department and as such, they should have conducted a research and get a final solution to the issue of network fluctuations. Rather they leave this for long and many consumers now hold that perception that they are not capable of providing a fully fledged network without any hitch. In conclusion, if they know they don't have the resources to penetrate the country market at large, why not create a niche market and satisfy your market convincingly.

the problem is not Tinubu, the problem is the party rank and file. THEY are the ones against Anbode because of the way he treated them. Tinubu cannot take panadol for another mans headache because if Tinubu defies the rank and file, they will turn against him. They have told him this in no uncertain terms. A good leader understands the pulse of his followers and does not go against it.

NOTHING TINUBU CAN DO EVEN IF HE WANTED!!!

I put this in capitals for the dullards that keep typing Tinubu, Tinubu as if Tinubu is the problem.
partially true. But as the don and father of any political classes in Lagos state, I believe if he really wants, he can come in and pacify the aggrieved quarters in the state. Without doubt Asiwaju has been given that authority in Lagos state, hence he can influence those followers to back the governor again. This is my view.

Now I'm having this pity for Mr. Ambode. Please Asiwaju forgive your state governor of any of his wrong doing, he is a house the lord used you to build, never allow it to crumble. Remember, a child can't be good in pap eating without having a stain wrapped on his fingers. Please let the governor go for second tenure.

Politics / Re: Has SIM Registration Actually Helped In Crime Fighting In Nigeria? by Oluwadare: 11:13am On Sep 16, 2018
It's not and it's not going to help curbing any substantial crime in the country. Reason being. Any serious crime that will necessitate the need for investigation through sim registration would always has connection with authority people. Also, the exercise is not even working. Many people have registered their Sims like twice yet their profiles ain't correspond with their Sims.

Politics / Re: I Have Finally Decided To Support Buhari's Bid For A Second Term And Here's Why by Oluwadare: 11:44pm On Sep 11, 2018
MrMystrO:

Glad to meet someone at last with a Rational mind like yours. These days it seems like supporting Buhari is synonymous with Not wanting the country to progress. But as a Rational true Progressive, one should be able to see that Nigeria as a country is very Ethnically Divided, and so that means Competence comes second to ethnic background when the nation is selecting its leader, a sad reality. Since then the southerners are usually more progressive minded than the North, i have decided to place my stakes on a southern presidency as the 'closest' path to us getting someone with a progressive and 21st century mindset as president. And so to achieve this goal, The current president should be allowed to have his time, paving way for the two parties to be able to present different candidates from different parts of the South(either SW/SE/SS) for us to choose from.. thereby greatly increasing the chance that we might pick someone with the mental capacity and competence to engineer a real positive change in this country. Thanks for sharing your thoughts bro.
sincerely. You have enlightened opinion that is backed with explicit explanations. Ceteris paribus, if there is valid assurance from the corridor of power that at the eventuality of this administration (I.e after spending their eight years in power) they will allow power to move to the south as you envisaged, then I'd be really campaigning for them as seems to me that only south can restructure this country which I'm seriously clamouring for.

You are asking too much bro. NYSC is not a stepping stone to privileges. If your request was tenable and do-able, no Corps member would ever be unemployed during and after national service.

Some people just walked into privileges while some work for privileges. Life is a risk, go out there and take it as a man. Don't wait to be shown life. Brilliantly worded.

Through the learned people input to this thread, I can say you all have upheld my believe about Nigeria problems being (1) Deliberate constitutional issue/problem - (2) Non functioning educational system. And so far these problems remain unattended to, the country would not work.

Infact, no matter how qualified or an individual is perceived to be a right person to lead this country, the country would not work unless these problems are solved. Meanwhile, those that have the voice, influence and power to do something about it are either within the system and thereby benefitting immensely through the current system or being bought through underserved contracts that they will never do.
