eGuerrilla: I will tell you this for nothing; with Aircraft 'A' having changed owners a few times since it shipped from its manufacturer, it stands to reason that you are dealing with a few extra unknowns vis-a-vis maintenance regime. As I cautioned earlier, we need to be very clear about the standards we are prepared to accept going forward and do away with the type of unhelpful platitudes usually substituted for sound reasoning. If there is a strict guidelines and information sharing law in place the question of "unknown maintenance regimes" won't arise, that is where a workable institutions comes in, u need to take a visit to an Airbus or maintenance hangers or workshops to see what they do with old planes, in Brussels they ground some Africans airlines that are in for check ups while their counterparts of the same age hovers about in EU airspace, have u cared to ask why? |
Sincere 9gerian: Ladies and gentlemen, lets forget about political party and other sentiments for a moment and do a simple experiment. Assuming this is real life and you planned to travel to United States from Nigeria. When you got to the Airport, you were presented with an opportunity to board one of two aircrafts. You were given privy information about the two aircrafts as follows:Those complaining about age are just ignorant, British airways, Lufthansa, alitalia, air France and those low cost airlines have older planes in their fleets, but most of the engines have been changed and periodically maintained, and are safe for EU airspace. Nigeria have a bad maintenance culture, even those shouting "old plane" can't even maintain their cars as it should. The only way we could get our maintenance culture right is to build on workable institutions and that what I understand GEJ is trying to do. With a workable institutions u can't skip or ignore maintenance schedule. Even those those diasporans shouting foul here knows that's how it works. |
The planes age is not a problem, but maintenance culture, old planes still fly EU airspace but with new engines and periodic maintenance. |
Really?, most critics here are hypocritic and ignorant, first off most burial ceremonies in south south always goes with fanfare as u can see from the pic wether rich or poor, it's their tradition, again it will be insensitive of GEJ not to attend that burial ceremony to pay his last respect because of criticism, lastly being the President of Nigeria many heads of government institutions are obliged to show their support and condolence, and of course the Nigerian traditional saying that if u don't attend others burial who will attend yours?. Don't be surprise GEJ and PEJ associates or friends are responsible for the cost of the burial, beside the President and his wife can definitely afford the cost without state support, I am quite certain the logistics of most of the dignitaries are at personal cost except GEJ, Sambo, Mark and state governors who voluntarily attended, so quit the propaganda. ![]() |
If they are compose and stop being selfish in front of goal the could increase the score before they make a costly mistake that will result to an equalizer. |
This awoniyi is playing selfish. |

That pic is not Photoshoped, the police authority should admit the truth the man is busted. From the position of the camera (selfie), the lady took the pic herself. |
funnyx: In your wildest dreams, if I meet him on a neutral ground like street of London, I'll yab him like a kid nothing go happenI bet u will be arrested and charge to court for public nuisance and get a prison term or at least a fine for that, do u think u are absolutely free to insult a president in England? And no country in Europe tolerate such either, only constructive protest and criticism is allowed and not derogatory insults. From the way u talk it's obvious u don't know your right and duties in England. |
berem: at the bolded, if you think that is what makes a good leader, then you're absolutely wrong!Tell us what makes a good leader? |
Bobby4090: Shame on us. Is this another ploy by the Government to enrich Dangote once again. Or has he bribed the policy makers to sell this idea? Nigeria has about the highest World concentration of bitumen and Asphalt in Ondo state. Why are they not devoting time and effort to tap into it. And after making cement in Nigeria about the most expensive in the World they now want to use it for road construction, leaving behind the God given blessings we have in Ondo state.Olodo dey worry u............your medicine don finish?. |
Ngwakwe: How will the dust oozing out from the road over time be managed considering high temperature and low humidity in our clime? It doesn't get dusty over time, and don't crack like asphalt, a harsh winter and intensive heat can crack asphalt base road but cement road don't, it only sink with excessive usage over time but more reliable than asphalt. |
Wsdm: He is just obeying silence for the f**l.He might comment after wild consultation. ![]() |
king of pool: Point of correction its NC nd not SNCThanks ![]() |
Since GEJ announced the intention of the government to organise a (S)NC and the subsequent innauguration of the commitee to formulate the modalities, We have not heard from the Almighty Special One himself ( Mohammadu Buhari), is he out of the country or strategizing or just playing sealed lips?. ![]() |
Michael Sokoto: More sweet excuses! berem: really? They care about their own safety and can pay billions to hire security men to guard the eagle square for independent celebration, but what happens to other Nigerians who are helpless and cannot afford to hire security agents to guard them against Boko haram? Doesn't it show that our Leaders don't give a phuck about us? Isn't it so sad that we loose tens of innocent lives due to boko haram insurgence? Isn't it just so sad? It's wise to cancel celebration at eagle square than have unimaginable casualties in event of attack, it's security precautions, what u don't know is 100% security guarantee is not obtainable worldwide, as far as I am concern it's a wise decision. |
OP, The government is just being cautious, they are not afraid, what every responsible government would do, if they wanted to waste money they could decide to flood the place with security men, search everyone coming in and comb the place safe. So caution is not cowardice. |
No president or political leaders propose solutions on TV screen, they only give their opinion or go about it. They take decisions in their executive room and give solutions with policies. If u expect GEJ to be an exception then u don't know much about politics. The poker rule: NEVER GIVE THE OPPOSITION ROOM TO LOOK INTO YOUR CARD. |
berem: Sir,am deeply happy that you appreciate my positive contributions to this great forum. Your comment really moved me and i forever remain grateful. With these words of wisdom and encouragement from you I CHANGE MY MIND!!l I oppose your nomination, no doubt u will ban all pro government posters on this forum. |

berem: and who gives a flying saucer about being a moderator on nairaland?Really?, if not why are u grinning from one ear to another for the nomination?, u should have rejected it at the first go. Lol |
Turkey and Israel has successfully tamed such incident in their shopping malls, u can't get in without passing thru a metal detectors and.security to search you. |

taharqa: AIB Interim Statement on DANA Air 0992 0f 03/06/2012Yes, establishing one is indeed a crucial step, what I expect Nigeria to do is go into cooperation with other laboratories to get our men and women involve in their investigation, exchange of expertise, we don't have to sit idle till Nigeria have a air mishap for our lab to function. I have been to the lab in Brussels, it's high tech department and those guys have eyes and nose for tracking the unseen, still they seek assistance sometimes from colleagues in other countries. It usually under the safety board and responsible for certification of planes air worthiness and they never bent the rules. |
Jokers! Impactful ko wastage ni ![]() |
Op, It's not rosy yet. There are different categories of airplanes blackbox analysis laboratories, though it's nice to have one to acquire more experience but Nigeria still lack the indept expertise to handle complex blackbox investigation. Even some developed countries still seek assistance from countries with vast experience. ![]() |
