Sports › Re: English Premier League Has Destroyed African Football by omar22(m): 10:36am On Feb 02, 2010
For one, a look at most African teams now would tell you a bit of the painful truth. The players that are fielded are not necessarily the best but those playing abroad and one does not need a prophet to tell that most well known African players, play in the EPL. Take a look at Egypt. 95% of their first team play not just in Egypt, but in Al Alhy. It would not be surprising that they are the best in Africa given that they all understand each other and they all play the same style. That's why they've been won the Nations cup. Let's turn heads and look at Nigeria's team: Yakubu, Shittu, Yobo, Mikel, Olofinjana and Etuhu all play in the EPL. Osaze plays in Russia, Kalu Uche and Nsofor in Spain, Taiye taiwo in France, Enyeama in Israel, different leagues with different styles of play: how does on expect them to form a synergy with so much difference?

Someone said old players are the bane of African football. I partly disagree. AC Milan's Last Victory in the UEFA Champions league came courtesy of a good number of old players. Italy's last world cup team featured a team that had it's average age at 31. Yet they won the world cup. If those old players could find a style of play that suits them, the youngest of teams will not defeat them, i tell you.
It doesn’t matter where they play, because Egypt has one the last 3 cups only means that they have a strong league and prepare well for a tournament, that’s it, Tunisia won in 2004 most of their players play in France, Belgium and Switzerland ok they had some home base players as well coupled with the 3 Brazilian who became Arabs overnight. Cameroun and Senegal the 4 years before that had all their players from Europe! So what's the problem AGE AGE AGE,  The AC Milan team that won the Champions League in 2007 concentrated only on winning in Europe that year because they knew they wouldn’t win it that’s why they rested all their players in the game prior to the game in Europe! Italy winning world, the team was matured enough to win and average age of 31 was the German team that won Euro 96, the same with the Greek team that won Euro 2004 the key here is that they have been together for a long time the average age of the Nigerian team would around the 40 years old mark!!! Who turns up at the training camp some days before a game, hardly playing for their clubs, having women in the team hotels before the games, I honestly believe Nigeria qualifying for this years world cup is doing more harm than good, because I believe Nigeria should be in the wilderness (cold turkey) then go back to and start from the grass root.

Harsh but in reality I saw Yakubu strolling around in Angola something he wouldn’t dare to do under David Moyes, Mikel Obi as well taking freekicks., and Kanu if am correct he was in the same group as Kliveurt, Seedof, Edgar David, the De Boer brothers Overmars etc I cant remember any of these players still in the international scene but Nigeria still holding unto deadwoods
Sports › Kanu, Amodu, Lulu And Ogunjobi All Collect Moeny From Players by omar22(op): 4:09pm On Feb 01, 2010
Now from a reliable source!!!  I heard that uncle Kanu collected money from 8 - 10 players in the camp just to secure their spot in the squad! its been told that Kanu has a direct link to Amodu. A certain Chalton Athletic player paid Pappy (Kanu) £15k (10k for Amodu) just to be in the squad for one of the friendlies!!! another reliable source indicated that not only Amodu collects the money but Ogunjobi and Lulu are at it as well,

So you could see the reason why Amodu would be in charge,

Egypt Al alhy lost to Kano pillars yet al alhy contribute more players to the National squad than all the local teams in Nigeria. The problem is we ourselves and not even the EPL. Lets improve our facilities and make our league to be lucrative. Also let us ensure that our players don't say they are 18 when they are 36. Let only the fit and healthy engage in our sports then we shall see some progress. Most of our boys cannot run 1500m and yet you want them to win a match without moving around the pitch.
Exactly!!!!!

Todays footballer should be able to cover between 7 - 10 miles every game even during the 1986 world in the heat of Mexico the players covered an average of 4 miles per game, compared to the South Korean's who covered between 8-12 miles during the 2002 WC,

I feel for Nigeria at South Africa

Look football has moved from the slow walking pace Brazilian father Tiko or Otto Gloria introduced us to in the 70’s “let the ball do the running” does not hack it anymore more, Brazil had to wait 24 years from 1970 before they won another world cup because they had to change their philosophy about the way the play, they had to mix their flair with the European speed! Brazil won the Copa America 2 years ago playing and ultra-defensive system and breaking fast on the counter attack. Am sorry but Nigeria still thinking about the walking pace football which is associated to the Super Eagles, the flying eagles or eaglets play with speed and power!!!! The super eagles are just a bunch of lazy so and so, who thinks posing on the football is more important to them, whereas a Swedish or S Korean player do the simple thing to the best of their ability. Danny Shittu doesn’t have the Skill but his job is to defend first and he puts his heart into it compared to Austine Eguavon who dwindles on the ball at the 1994 world that led to Italy’s equaliser… The Northern African players play in a league that has a professional setting, so they believe they don’t need to play in the European league, its easy for them to gather the players for the national team. So blaming the Premier league sub Sahara countries in ability to lift the nations cup in ludicrous… Theirs a reason why Benny Macarty couldn’t care less about playing for South Africa whereas an Egyptian player would give an arm to play for the national team,
Sports › Peter Odemwingie Has Attacked Coach Shaibu Amodu’s Tactics by omar22(op): 7:12pm On Jan 29, 2010
Eliminated from the African Nations Cup by Ghana on Thursday evening, Nigeria forward Peter Odemwingie has attacked coach Shaibu Amodu’s tactics for the semi-final encounter, insisting they were too negative.

An early goal from Asamoah Gyan left the Super Eagles on the back foot, and though they mustered a second half cavalry charge, it came too late to break down their ailing opponents.

According to the AFP news agency, the Lokomotiv Moscow striker said, “He started with a lone striker, just like the Ghana team. This did not help us because we had too few chances. He should have changed things quickly but he did nothing, yet we knew Ghana would play with their backs to goal.

“We had three defensive midfielders who don’t create goals. In these circumstances we couldn’t cross or create chances.

“There was no logic in our game and that's why we could not win
.”

Sports › Re: Belgian Coach Applies For Eagles Job by omar22(m): 3:25pm On Jan 29, 2010
SPOT ON MAN! I just don't see what makes the white coaches spectacular -- save for the few , proven ones.

We don't care about reaching the semis, we just want to slowly redeem our shattered image. I would keep Amodu till the World Cup but appoint Siasia as the technical adviser and make him the full overseer to rebuild the next team after the mundial. It's cheap,  and makes so much sense!
Do you honestly believe theirs a sane coach on this planet would:

(1) Add Kanu to an Eagles squad

(2) Add Yakubu and Martins who are not match fit to the squad

(3) Honestly not make better use of the junior players over the last 2 years

(4) Look at local players and players playing all over Europe most especially those who were not born in Nigeria

(5) Playing 1 striker when the opposing team seems happy to park the bus infront of goal

I saw the team that went to Mali 2002 the players lazing about no fight, no motivation, no spirit, and for the NFF to bring him back shows how looney those who are  running the FA

Amodu needs helps and something must be done to this team before june,
We are doomed, the next coach (if they decide to get shot of Numpty called amodu) would only have 2 or 3 windows to try out a new team which I dont think its enough, I guess i wont be shocked if they bring back Onigbinbe as part of the money embezzling team, and he would start picking players from the English conference league,

I guess we havent learnt from the 2006 failure,

how can you guys be calling us poo when we just beat you? nevermind the tactics, the end justifies the means. We BEAT u.

and with kids too!!!

abeg don't compare your shiite team with our young bloods o. Not only is this team B. there are also inexperience green U21s. I mean, to think a central defence patnership of Vorsah and Mensah (1 nobody and I kid) could shut out Yakubu and Martins. Two of africa's finest strikers we are told.

If you think this is the team we're sending to the world cup you're dreaming. The only survivors from this team in our WC 11 would be the keeeper and Gyan.

Years of age cheating has finally caught up with Nigeria. How many of these your players will be around in 4 years? when you have talented young kids at home begging for a chance. where is that your chrisantus boy?

I knew it was gonna be a good day for us when i saw Mikel taking free-kicks. lol, i mean Mikel??
The truth is bitter, this was the same Ghanaian team Ivory Coast took to school, we are not good enough We could lie to ourselves all day long about the players but in reality we are not good enough, the team that got to the final of the youth cup in Holland in 1995 were are they? The Olympic team of 2008? Same story.

who the hell do u want 2replace amodu? I'm one of the people clamouring 4removal of amodu. But at a time, i had a rethink. For GOD's sake NairaLand let this man be. NFF gave him semi finals as a target, & he has delivered. we should be talking about upgrading him, pls. If he goes or stays, i've nothing to loose. . .

Excuse me, ask how Capello handled Real Madrid Galatico's, asking Guti and Ronaldo to warm up 25 minutes before the game ends without coming on as a punishment

has given Amodu ultimatum never to field Yakubu Ayegbeni
in a SE matches no more.Could u guys confirm this?
Just heard it on Topsports 90.9Fm Sports news.
This is my Proof!!!!!

Why would a top person dictate to the manager, the manager either swim or sink by his decision, they should either sack him or leave him to do his job?

I guess the reason he was there in the first first was because he was a "yes man"

What a load of bull.
Zambian were on the pitch to play their game, which they did. Tell me, what was the gameplan of Amodu? His tactics and team selection again failed him. He wasted one good substitution by playing Etuhu and Keita. Keita was winning balls in the middle but his distribution was poor. Etuhu was not winning any balls but was wasting possession whenever he had the ball. The midfield changed as soon as Ayila came on. Now tell me, why are we playing Mikel, Etuhu, and Keita together when their distribution is not very good. Why are we using 3 DM against a team like Zambia? How many would we use against Argentina. That game was crying for just Mikel and Ayila in the middle, two people on the wings, and a striker supporting Martins.
i AGREE we made it confortable for the Zambian from the firstminute playing as a lone striker, The Zambians grew in confidence when we offered nothing upfront, playing as a lone striker is not easy and the Village Idiot we have as a coach was too inept to notice, Odewingie was hugging the line with the other guy on the left wing leaving Yakubu isolated, atleast Amodu could asked the 2 wide men to tuck in and support Yakubu, but no then I thought Martins was coming on to support the Yak but no he was coming to replace him,  Martins is not a lone striker
Sports › Re: Nigeria Vs Ghana [0 - 1] by omar22(m): 4:25pm On Jan 26, 2010
People has showed their ignorance today,

Does it occur to many that Ghana had a day rest longer than Nigeria?

Does it occur to many that it would be Ghana's 4th game of the competition and Nigeria's 5th

Does it occur to many that Nigeria played 120 minutes with 9 men and has less time to recover than Ghana,

Before people start shooting their mouth through their back-side they should engage their brains, Nigeria played as if they ran out of juice after 45 minutes, Can you imagine South Korea who are extremely fit has 45 minute to do some serious Damage against Nigeria knowing that Nigeria has nothing offer in the second half,  I think we need a fitness coach, (That would first kill off Yak and Kanu's world cup dream)

Leviticus 18
Laws of Sexual Morality
1 The LORD said to Moses, 2 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'I am the LORD your God. 3 You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices. 4 You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the LORD your God. 5 Keep my decrees and laws, for the man who obeys them will live by them. I am the LORD.
6 " 'No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the LORD.

7 " 'Do not dishonor your father by having sexual relations with your mother. She is your mother; do not have relations with her.

8 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your father's wife; that would dishonor your father.

9 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your sister, either your father's daughter or your mother's daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere.

10 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your son's daughter or your daughter's daughter; that would dishonor you.

11 " 'Do not have sexual relations with the daughter of your father's wife, born to your father; she is your sister.

12 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your father's sister; she is your father's close relative.

13 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your mother's sister, because she is your mother's close relative.

14 " 'Do not dishonor your father's brother by approaching his wife to have sexual relations; she is your aunt.

15 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law. She is your son's wife; do not have relations with her.

16 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your brother's wife; that would dishonor your brother.

17 " 'Do not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter. Do not have sexual relations with either her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter; they are her close relatives. That is wickedness.

18 " 'Do not take your wife's sister as a rival wife and have sexual relations with her while your wife is living.

19 " 'Do not approach a woman to have sexual relations during the uncleanness of her monthly period.

20 " 'Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor's wife and defile yourself with her.

21 " 'Do not give any of your children to be sacrificed [a] to Molech, for you must not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD.

22 " 'Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.

23 " 'Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion.

24 " 'Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled. 25 Even the land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. 26 But you must keep my decrees and my laws. The native-born and the aliens living among you must not do any of these detestable things, 27 for all these things were done by the people who lived in the land before you, and the land became defiled. 28 And if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it vomited out the nations that were before you.

29 " 'Everyone who does any of these detestable things—such persons must be cut off from their people. 30 Keep my requirements and do not follow any of the detestable customs that were practiced before you came and do not defile yourselves with them. I am the LORD your God.' "

Sports › Disu Wants Nff Members Flushed Out by omar22(op): 7:18am On Jan 15, 2010
FORMER international, Tajudeen Disu, has called for a total overhaul of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), saying the board members' ineptitude has ruined Nigerian football.

Blaming the Super Eagles current problems at the Angola 2010 African Nations Cup on not only Coach Shaibu Amodu, but also on the NFF board, Disu said the federation's leaders had overstayed their welcome hence the need for people with fresh ideas to take over Nigerian football.

According to Disu, "I believe that whatever happens from now onwards in Angola, Coach Amodu should be paid off for a more technically sound coach to take over the Super Eagles. But he should not be made the scapegoat for the NFF's ineptitude.

"We have no team, we are just fortunate to have qualified for the World Cup, there is no creative midfielder, just as our defence is nothing to talk about.

"I think we should face the reality; it is the NFF that said they will swim or sink with Amodu. I have said it before and I will continue to say it, our problem is the NFF itself. NFF should be dissolved and reorganised; that is the only way forward he said."

On Super Eagles next match against fellow West Africa side, Benin Republic, Disu said from the look of things the Squirrels might beat Nigeria.

"The Republic of Benin team will not be a push over for the Eagles because Nigeria lacks virtually all the ingredients for success now. Gone are the days when other teams shivered when Nigeria comes to town. Now, all the other teams have the audacity to challenge the team because of what NFF's lack of organisation has turned it into. We should just pray for the best," he added.
