Politics › Akwa Ibom Government Distributes Transistor Radios by omenka(op): 6:58am On Jul 24, 2020 |
Not sure if one could label this progress or retrogression especially given the fact we exist in an age of ICT. Below are pictures of the commissioner for Information and Technology distributing transistor radios to some beneficiaries, likely the staffers of the ministry. Given the pervasive rot in our system at the moment, one would be left wondering how much the ministry might have claimed they expended on the "project". https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=3042699085779082&id=100001170625105

Their being there doesn't make any difference after all.
What more do they do beside sitting there, shaking their legs, exchanging banters and shaking hands while laughing hysterically (probably at the Nigerian citizens), and then pretending to read newspapers (I'm sure if a camera zooms in on some of them, we'd see they're holding the papers upside down).
The only time they become animated is when issues about their emoluments are being discussed.
Nigeria would probably be better off without such a parliament. |

I give up on Nigeria It is depressing honestly. Leaves one wondering if these characters are really humans. It is so bad it feels like they've got s vendetta against their own people. Saying this country is fantastically corrupt is probably the greatest understatement of the 21st century. |

What the hell is *rescued ALIVE*? The fact that you used the word *rescued* means they were ALIVE. You dont *rescue* someone who's dead, and that's why when one is already dead in such an event, the word used is *recovered*, as in *blablabla number of bodies have been recovered*. So, next time, when you're referring to people rescued, there's no point adding the word *alive*. |

Masterkernel1: Which Kanu? Kanu is followed massively because of Biafra sermons. Let him contest for a position, and be surprised at the result. Igbos didn't vote Ojukwu, when he deviated for Nigerian politics. Okay, so Igbos are excused from WORSHIPING people when they preach *biafra sermons*. It is no longer about *igbos dont worship anybody*. You see, you people are so fond of accusing others for what you're guilty of. And when your guilt is presented before you, you spin silly excuses to absolve yourself. You simply said Igbos dont worship anybody. That is what you said. Now you're saying something else. Abeg, make una use una life how una want. Na una sabi. If Yorubas chose to worship Tinubu or even lucifer himself, how the fvxk is that Igbos problem? You guys need to check this attitude of always wanting others to do as you want them to. You staunchly oppose anyone who attempts to make you guys tow a particular path. Besides, we all know they must have developed cold feet after Akpabio poured hot pap on their heads the last time, with the likelihood of doing more if they pushed him any further.

Your notorious pedigree as an unrepentant anti-igbo in this forum gives your comment away as hypocritical. So shift. I don shift since o. Please, gather your brothers, friends, and extended family members, get a bullhorn, go to the most prominent public space in Yorubaland and announce to them and the world how much you hate Yorubas and anyone who tries to encourage you to refrain from doing so.I sincerely encourage you to. Nairaland is too much a limited platform and your message might not be heard by those who aren't active on the internet. So, please, do so ASAP. I agree with Omenka about that he goat Naijaroyalty They keep shouting Omenka hates Igbos, Omenka hates Igbos and wouldnt wanna heed any useless voice of caution from me. Little do these people know that I have singlehandedly prevented TWO Igbo men from getting burned alive by a mob in front of UBA Makurdi after they were discovered to have been one of those ATM crooks, withdrawing monies from one Alhaji's account using his atm card while they stole the night before. That happened even during their height of Kanus madness, hate propagation and heightened attacks on my person by nairaland Igbos. I couldn't stop some few slaps from reaching their faces though, and struggled to have them taken into the bank compound and held until police arrived. I risked being accused of being an accomplice but I persisted since I understand the sacredness of human life. But these kids out here would keep pushing one to the precipice with their unbridled hate. It is such an unfortunate situation. |

SaintBeehot: Just a brotherly advise from the part you're referring to, I bet you're helping in building hatred for your fellow brothers and sisters. I can't wake up today and say I want to get married to an Igbo native, I don't know much about you guys but what you're displaying here is completely understandable. I mean you have no option but to paint your fellow brothers and sisters image bad in the face of everyone. I'm sure many people here are thinking in same dimension, I'm not sure I can have Igbo people around me any longer because I think you're just displaying what your clan is really made of here on a public forum which is bad. You guys are too desperate and would find it hard to forgive people, even though history tell we never did, bro just re-think. I thought we do things here just to catch fun but I'm very happy to learn what you guys are made of and I would try to refrain from anything that bring any connections between me and an Igbo native. I pray my clan and others would be enough to offer any assistance I might need in the nearest future. Your thinking stinks to be sincere. Regards. Leave them to continue encouraging hate towards themselves. Even when one dares to sound a note of caution, they trash, insult, curse and throw inane tantrums. They are encouraged by the likes and shares those stupid comments earn them and forget to take into account the broader picture. From this day forward, I will NEVER advice any igbo man to refrain from doing anything that attracts scorn and reproach to Ndigbo. If the result of their misplaced hatred earns them peace and love, good for them. If it doesn't, oh well, they'd be the ones to bear the consequences. I'm out. |

They are not cowards and won't abandon you in your difficult times .
You have problem with that I guess hmm You are likely not an Igbo man. Your primary purpose of making that comment was to instigate a fight between Yorubas and Igbos. You are hoping that Yorubas would reply/retaliate your comment and them am all out fight would ensure between both groups while you sit back, fulfilled your dark agenda has been accomplished. Igbos should understand there are people put here pretending to be one of them but arent. Their only purpose for being here is to ensure NOBODY comes to like Igbos. The thread started on a good note and the governor said what he said. But you arent satisfied with that since Yorubas and Igbos weren't likely to go at eathothers throats, so you had to ignite the fuel with that comment. |

Dear Nairaland Igbos, be wary of such characters as this poster and that Naijaroyalty handle. They are simply out to attract hatred to Igbos and nothing else. We know the real cowards and they know themselves . After saying Igbos are peace loving, he goes ahead to make the second bolded statement. Now, someone tell me, how are the bolded portions in agreement? How is it necessary in a thread such as this? Why so desperate to bring Igbos into constant fights with other groups on the forum? You see, when I see comments like this, I'm tempted to think the poster IS NOT AN IGBO MAN but someone out to perpetually attract scorn to Ndigbo. Igbos on the forum would do themselves a world of good disspciating themselves from this kind of characters posing as Igbos. |

NOC1: Disagreement in politics is not enmity, it is all about people view and want. Only people like you on the streets see them as enemies, their is always a common ground for agreement in politics.
Back in the days in the university, our party executives approached me to run for SUG post, I searched myself after few days and declined the offer but I was giving the opportunity to nominate my replacement which I graciously did and nominated a distant friend, during campaigns I found out that I have been pushed aside, party did not tell the young man in question how he came into play because I nominated a man outside my clique because he is upright than my friends who have interest.
When I saw the neglect I went back to my friends, but I did not mention my political nose dive to them, I only joined their independent candidacy to support the candidate they chose, to them money was everything because they had the cash, the most expensive campaign in school was carried out by us in 2 years(story for another day).
The party I left is the ruling party, most of the school management and CSOs are tactically behind the party.
Twice I and my friends where picked up and detained in and outside school, we did not declare war on them because we understand it is normal politics after election when we lost our in two consecutive years we never saw it as a war against our opponents, we still have a common ground where we agree.
Only a fool and uninformed person takes politics and what comes out from it during campaign and election period serious. With my experience one week after election life goes on. God bless you. Please tell the ignoramus again. |
