flybiz08: Maybe Wole Soyinka is getting too old for public utterances. Its obvious that his recent comments have been more political. As most would agree, he has fallen short of a true elder statesman.
When he was reelin out the suposed sins of GMB, and why he deserves no chance at Aso Villa, you guys were so jubilant like some somali refugee kids that had jst been handed bars of chocolate. Now that his utterances don't seem to favour the Hipopotamus family he's become too old to speak in public!! Hmmm, I jst dey laff.

Politics › Re: Why Is It That Every Topic That Insults Or Berates GEJ & PEJ Hits The Front Page by omenka(m): 12:19pm On Jul 17, 2013
I've come to this conclusion based on the volume of anti-jonathan posts that are making it to the frontpage and this has increased in intensity over the past 7 days for reasons I'm yet to fathom. It's either that the mods are sympathetic to the anti-jonathan course or that Nairaland is a political tool that is now being used by the opposition to spread propaganda. Any post that insults PEJ or berates GEJ now makes the front page. If you are in doubt just take a look at the front page and you will see that 90% of the threads from the political section that makes the front page are critical of Jonathan. Please, I demand an explanation. This is supposed to be a fair and balanced forum, but recent happenings have proved otherwise. Is it that Seun or a huge chunk of the mods have a political agenda?
If you feel there are better things to publish about the president and his band of criminal accomplices, why don't you post such instead of resorting to sulking and nagginghuh

Not a shread of common cunning was shown by the organizers and promoters of this charade. Same ink on thesame type of cadboard paper!!! Who's tryna fool whohuh

And since when did advising and utterly invasive and intrusive lady amount to hatred of an entire region?? Indeed our problem in this country runs veeery deeeep, like magma in the earth's core!!

Students marching on the streets due to counter productive govt policies were dispersed by the police using tear gas and sometimes even live amunitions. But in this case, the police only tried to RESTRAIN an evidently violent croud that could potentially harm elected state executives yet somebody wants me to believe Abuja has no hand in thishuh

Look @ the stomachs of those young men!! No doubt, each would be going home with five bottles of goulder and a plate of nkwobi after such a tedious day on the husstle.

This is nothing compared to the grand theft orchestrated by the presidency, the price of which you and I are paying in form of partial subsidy removal (that is, if there ever was subsidy).

The president is a vilian of sorts in our quest for sociopolitical emancipation. The erlier we did away with him every known ally of his, the better for us and generations yet unborn.

2015 is lurking jst around the corner, the choice is ours to make. We decide whether to sink this boat by maintaining status quo or chart a brand new course avoiding the mighty icebergs and the disasters they portend!

Politics › Re: Rising Oil Theft: So Why Was Tompolo Paid N15 Billion? by omenka(m): 12:06pm On Jul 15, 2013
Gbawe: That is part of it. Most savvy analysts know that GEJ is trying to create a shift in the money/power order. He is attempting to do this with the underground looting of Nigeria. It is as simple as that. This is why we are seeing crazy decisions that are the real reason some world leaders have dumped diplomacy to say "haba, this is too much" !!!

David Cameron actually went as far as challenging GEJ to account for the billions received in oil revenue !!! Unprecedented and perhaps intrusive and undiplomatic from Cameron but modern leaders, in a global and networked age, will have less time for diplomacy when actions/inactions and inefficiencies 5,000 miles away now affects their own nation negatively. We must remember leaders of other nation still try to do the best for their people even if Nigerian leaders have abandoned Nigeria.

Cameron specifically felt miffed at what Britain is giving Nigeria in aides when he noted that a "fortune" is being frittered away by Nigerian leaders like GEJ to the extent his nation is put under financial pressure to help out over a situation that can be avoided if GEJ et al behaved more humanely and more responsibly.

We may not know it but the world is disgusted we Nigerians allow such blatantly crude theft of our commonwealth. This action of GEJ is nothing but daylight robbery and we are now seeing the fallout from it. Even Oshiomhole has now bravely taken the Government to task as per how preposterous it looks, vis-a-vis our integrity, that we are experiencing this when “no nation should live with this kind of situation, that we would surrender our national assets to thieves?"

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/oshiomhole-massive-oil-theft-inexcusable/153275/
Oshiomole is being too damn magnanimous with his choice of words. "Lose integrity" huh? Can some1 lose what they never hadhuh

With the level to which things have degenerated in this country, I have this gut feeling only the khaki boys cld salvage the situation if we are to pre-empt another '66!

Rossikk: Soyinka needs to respect Nigeria and Nigerians as a whole. You can bet he would never refer to Michelle Obama as a ''mere domestic appendage'', no matter what she did, but he reckons he can freely use such insulting terminology on the Nigerian first family. Very disappointing.
That is because Mrs Obama conducts herself in such a manner she leaves no room for such criticisms. Flawless, she certainly isn't, but I don't see her ever trying to dictate even to a county sheriff!!!

Mrs Jonathan realy needs to take a leave off the public scene. After her sujourn in the land of the dead and upon her resurection, I thought she returned a sage. Apparently, I thought wrong.

When other non profit organisations said nigeria's econoy was growing geometrically, no body celebrated; when a UN agency said we have eradicated hunger no body clapped. When they said our economy is set to overtake that of south africa, no body danced. When they said Gej has attracted more foreign investment, no thread trended. Politics › Re: How It Really Happened In Rivers Assembly - Eyewitness by omenka(m):

@ OP, I'm not from rivers state and not one of those who will take sides and keep going back and forth. However, I may agree with your post but I also saw a police office beating the Hon member in black suit "Hon. Ihunwo " That incident raises a lot of questions. Any one who is biased will not respond to that appropriately.

Now This is Rivers State we are talking about and Amaechi is the Governor. Honestly every body saw this coming. Do you think Amaechi has handled this things well or he has let things degenerate to this level so as to prove a point, gain sympathy or support from disgruntled politicians? I personally think that Amaechi would have managed things better but he deliberately wants to do it this way to see what will happen. "I mean amaechi himself can solve this problem but He just don't want to do it" Sentiments aside, Amaechi can call every body together today to a round table and this will be resolved. Honestly Amechi is not being wise irrespective of the support and sympathy he gets. There was a time in my state that the governor was hated and removed by the court(he had to go for a rerun) . People who hated him were all over; speaking as they like and heating up the polity. In fact, a popular elder in the state was openly against the governor and some folks were supporting the Elder. what did the governor do? he humbled himself never tried to show power with anyone. He met with the president with elders from all the senatorial district at Abuja and the issues were resolved. That is a wise leader.

Honestly, I will put the blame on Amaechi, because even at this point he can calm things down and resolve things But he will not do so because he has a point to prove. that makes him foolish. Amaechi is destroying his state; that will exist after him. This whole thing is political. He should stop his juvenile approach to issues and show his dexterity and sagacity as a leader. The resolution of all this issues depends on his show of humility and wisdom. WINSTON CHURCHILL said; It is better to jaw jaw than to war war.
And how exactly do you propose he does thathuh By going to Abuja to grovel @ the feet of the president and his wife just like the Rivers state pdp exco did last week??

The governor is an amployee of the people of Rivers state and not the president or his wife!! The president ought to apologise to the pple of Rivers state for distracting and derailing the work of their employee.

What Churchill said is only applicable where you have people whose minds work in such a fashion as to allow logic and reason to prevail over anything else. In the Nigerian politicoshare, the word logic has long been exponged from the vocabulary!

If anyone has been acting childishly in this situation, that person is the president!
Politics › Re: Jonathan Masterminded October 1 Bombing - Okah Insists by omenka(m): 10:47am On Jul 11, 2013
Afam4eva: Why should Henry Okah be believed? But i wonder why Jonathan was holding brief for Mend when that happened. I had never seen a president defend a terrorist organization until Jonathan became the spokesman for MEND.
Tell them my brother. We have a huge problem in this country. I jst imagine what the presidency, along with their hoard of internet specimen headed by insincere amoeba, would say had Buhari made such a statement. This is absolutely unheard of in the anals of governance. No one called him a militant when he made those statemnts yet they are quick to condemn Buhari once he makes any statement that features boko haram be it in their condemnation. And if i may ask, how many times hav the president condemned the activities of mend? Noseating hypocrites.
Okah is going thru what he's goin thru cos he knows to much an has refused to play ball.
