PoliticsRe: After Dancing Kirikata, Kirikata Many Nigerians Have Not Ported, See Why – SAKA by omicron(m): 9:05am On May 28, 2013
The idea of MTN's advert may not be to persuade customers to port to MTN but to discourage their customers from porting to other networks.
I guess it really worked as MTN remains the biggest, largest and best (arguably) network.

No other network has giving me enough reason to dump my MTN sim card ot port out; they all have their issues, so I'd rather stick with the devil I know.
same here!

Generalizations are always fallacies. LDR can and does work. Mind you that most people will find themselves in a LDR situation at one or more points in their relationships.

Car TalkRe: Honda Accord 1997(academy) Vs Toyota Camry 1998(tiny Light)? Please, Your Advice by omicron(m): 8:34am On May 21, 2013
Nigerians are too crazy about toyotas so expect more suggestions against the honda. Hondas are still the best selling cars elsewhere, esp the accord...even in America. It is also as fuel efficient as the camry for the same engine size. Stick to ur budget and do your due research, you will get a nice car you'll come to cherish, not necessarily the one every one else drives.

AutosRe: The Truth Abou Cotonou Ask Me Cotonou Based Parc Owner by omicron(m): 4:27pm On May 05, 2013
parcfadi: Around 3.4 Million CFA for the car, 400,000 CFA for custom cotonou, 200,000 Naira seme border
i dont understand the part where the buyer will have to directly bear the cost of the cotonou custom for a car already within the borders of cotonou. Is it not the importer that should pay the cost of that and then factor it in his selling price? Pls clarify me on this.
PoliticsRe: Which City In Nigeria Is The Most Cosmopolitan? by omicron(m): 12:03pm On May 05, 2013
effisyman: Lagos and Oyo.
Oyo isnt d same as Ibadan. And even Ibadan no qualify...yoruba land proper.
PoliticsRe: Which City In Nigeria Is The Most Cosmopolitan? by omicron(m): 11:46am On May 05, 2013
Abuja..igbo, hausa, yoruba, whites, everyone co existing without fear or feeling like an alien. Infrastructurally qualified too. Better civilized. Lagos?..maybe too but yoruba preponderance makes it less so.
Car TalkRe: Dangers Of Buying Vehicles From Cotonou by omicron(m): 8:26am On May 04, 2013
ikakahu: people should stop telling lies in order to get customers/clients.I totally agree with kunle A.It was all about about this 48 hrs(2 days) period of car delivery that made me venture into such a deal. After 1 wk and 2 days,I ve not yet got my delivery although the biz was not done with the poster but with another dealer who also promised that I will get the car under 48 hrs.My anger here is even if its going to take a month, tell your customer the truth. The most annoying part is that all the gist the guy told me about buying a car in cotonou were all false ranging from prizes to duration of delivery. When you get there,it ll be another story again. From stories to stories. You may even find out that you ve spent more what you would have bought the car in lagos although my main concern was to choose from varieties and not cost cos of my high taste(not by my making) BUT I MUST SAY THE TRUTH THAT I EVEN BOUGHT THE CAR MORE EXPENSIVE THAN I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT IN LAGOS.I ve vowed never to venture into such a deal again as next time I ve it in my to get another car,I will simply walk into car shop here in naija .Its only good for those that want to smuggle their cars to nigeria but if you want to pay full duty,my brother,my sister, buy it here in naija or even look for a reliable friend or relation that will buy it for you in U.S.
lest I forget,They told me that cotonou people don t work their cars, that they sell it as it comes but that's a clear lie which I confirmed by my self. They have workshops where they work accident cars and some of these workshops are even within the auto sales yard.I tell you,it was a bitter experience and a case of misinformation and I believe that most people must have experienced this as well.Even when I told two of my friends about this, they equally told me that they had such an ugly experience too, that if i had told them that I was going to cotonou to buy the car, that they would have discouraged me.I don t have time because of my busy schedule but I promised my self that I am going to put a write up as regards this.PLS IF YOU KNOW THAT YOU HAD A DECENT DEAL IN COTONOU,COME AND SHARE IT HERE BUT IF YOU THAT YOU HAD AN UGLY ONE,ALSO EDUCATE OTHERS SO THAT THEY DON T MAKE MISTAKES.

One more important advice, never change a huge sum of amount when going. You can change like 20K so that when you ve have seen by yourself and confirmed that all they told you were lies, you can kindly come back to naija and chang your money to naira and you won t loose so much money.I was cajoled into changing over a million naira and when I saw the truth,I notice that changing the money back would result to more losses and what if being robbed on the way?So that was a serious challenge to me too as I had no option than to buy there.

I am not here to ridicule any body's bussiness but just the sincere truth and experience is what am sharing with you because if you are not well informed, you will be deformed and you know what that means.ALWAYS BE TRUTHFUL!!!
It is very pathetic that none of the regular nairaland cotonou agents responded to this guy and other negative experiences about getting cars from cotonou thru agents, except saintjoel. I must commend you saintjoel for being transparent and open in your dealings here.

Nairaland GeneralRe: DELSU Student Hacks Uduaghan’s Phone by omicron(m): 12:09pm On May 01, 2013
I do not support this crime, espcially as a Medical student is the alleged criminal, but when analysed legally, I can say that there is no evidence against the lad here. If he pleads not guilty, it will be wise. We cannot exclude the possibility of a third party here, who may be unknown to the benefactor of this crime, maybe someone desperate to help the boy, or someone wishing to put theboy in a big web. The point is, he's got an alibi...an escape route!

PoliticsRe: 5,000 Boko Haram Members May Get Amnesty by omicron(m):
This is a mistake, one of many that will come back to haunt the president! You have called them terrorists, then why dialogue with them? You said they are ghosts, now you want to dialogue with and grant ghosts amnesty. If 5000 of these terrorists are those in custody, and the killings and boming have continued all the same, then what does it all mean? These are terrorists, you cant assume them friends. Strategy, intelligence and yes, force, are the tools needed here, not a chat in a bar! Unless Azazi (of blessed memory) was right afterall.

tomzman: Young man, get something right, the law is very simple. If you pick up a gun or any weapon to rob your fellow human being, the penalty is the same as that of murder or attempted murder so I don't pity the guy. I also hope for the time when the same treatment would be metted out to our thieving politicians.
There's no need for the lecture, young man, we are both saying the same thing. My post is just an expression of "hope for the time when the same treatment would be metted out to our thieving politicians".

Car TalkRe: Read This Please...Buying A Car From Places Far From Your Location by omicron(m): 9:18pm On Apr 18, 2013
chiebube: Good day Nairalanders,

I believe its time i share this burden. I wanted to share it sometime last week but things cropped up and i relaxed. I feel its more that necesary to do so now.

What led to this is because (Dr Joe)fell for a victim cos he bought a very faulty car (Peugeot 307). By the way, I want to share this real life experience I had.

One Nairalander who does not reside here in Abuja saw a car i put up for sale here on Nairaland and called me. I arranged for inspection and took the car to someone he trusted here in Abuja. To the best of my knowledge, the car is very sound. No vibrations in d engine, moves very well etc.

The guy saw the car, said it was ok. We took the car to a mechanic friend of his and the mechanic certified that the car is very ok.

...Now the issue...

The wahala now started when the mechanic said we must give him some money if not he will tell the owner that the car is in a bad condition and that will discourage him from buying. After much argument, we agreed to give the mechanic N20,000. I thought it was all over, that the deal was sealed. Then the man's trusted friend started behaving funny. He said we must give both of them (him and the mechanic) N50,000. We refused totally (I and my friends). He said he will tell the man not to buy the car because the man is his IN-LAW. After much talking, we told them that we will give both of them only N30,000. Since it was business.

Now, my major concern was this: what if the car had issues. I mean real issues. Thats how this car would have been sold.

Please my advice to everyone buying a car from a far place is this: Travel and check the car yourself. If its not possible, send someone that you trust his judgment whether he collects his commission or not. But I tell you, most people you send will ask for their commission.

Pls dont mind my grammar.

Regards.
thanks
