Please, I had to get police reports form several countries I have lived before which was tideous and expensive. Can I used the certified copied of the police certificates in place of the original for a long-term visa application? I want to keep the originals Incase I eventually need them.
Yes, certified copies are accepted for most long-term visa applications, but not PR permit applications. However, original PCCs become invalid once it's past 6 months since issued

Thanks for this. I observe that bank statement is not listed. How important is it for work visa application?
Bank statement is not required for a work visa application, because the work permit and company invitation letter are expected to contain salary information and serve as proof of financial resources for living costs. You may include it anyway, if you want to.
However, you will need a bank statement when applying for a temporary residence permit when you arrive

Thank you very much. so the police clearance is not needed
PCC is not part of the visa requirements in most Polish embassies. However, 'certain' embassies may request for additional documents at their discretion. So, it may be necessary to confirm via the visa information webpage or email address of the specific embassy

Hello everyone,
I hope you're doing well. I wanted to ask how many pages are typically ideal for a motivation letter when applying for a visa. I'm not applying from Nigeria, and the embassy hasn't specified a page limit.
Thank you in advance for your responses!
A page is usually enough to state your case. Two, at most, if absolutely necessary

I have a challenge and need some advice on what to do. I have received admission offers from two cities in Germany: Koblenz and Bremen.

Bremen is in the winter semester, and classes have been in session for over three months. However, I received a late arrival letter from the course coordinator.

I prefer to study in Bremen because it is a more populated city, and I also hold a European truck license, which I can use to start applying for jobs since the city has a seaport. My concern is the potential visa complications due to the semester already being underway.

Given this situation, I am considering using the admission letter for Koblenz, which starts in the summer semester, to apply instead.

My question is: Is it safe to use the Bremen admission letter along with the late arrival letter, or should I opt for the Koblenz offer?
Note. Appointment date is not a big issue because of my current location
The late arrival letter demonstrates to the consular officer that you're still expected to arrive as soon as possible. It is definitely acceptable and safe to still pursue your preferred destination with the late arrival letter as long as other supporting documents are in order, since you're applying from abroad

Sir, Please can a SA tourist visa be extended while still in SA

Am asking because a cousin plans to relocate to SA through tourist visa for hustling purpose

What's your advice or take on this
A tourist visa extension by a maximum of the duration of initial visa (30 days) while in the republic is permitted by the law. However, there is no guarantee that an application for tourist visa extension (via VFS) would be approved, unless extenuating circumstances are demonstrated. So, unless it's for medical or skilled professional reasons, a 30-day extension isn't worth the hassle.
Relocate via legal means or stay wherever you are a legal resident, and make a meaningful living there. That plan is simply a path to a harsh reality and an eventually rude awakening.

Thank you for your input. I did as advised and submitted it already. I hope I get the eVisa approved. Probably the hardest visa I ever had to apply for. I want a direct flight but the cheaper ones have multiple stops
Hardest?! It gets easier however.
That's usually the case, that direct flights are costlier than 1/2 connection flights.
See attached. I'm sure there're cheaper ones, depending on selected dates

Hello house,

I need clarification on the flight itinerary or booking upload for my eVisa on dha website.

I don’t want to book a flight down as it’s about $1,300

How can I go about it or where can I reserve flights without paying?

Thanks

* I have my hotel booking
An unpaid flight booking directly from an airline or online travel agency (travelwings/travelstart..) would do.
Visa applicants are usually advised to not purchase flight tickets until their visas have been approved. The itinerary is just meant to show the consular officer the dates and the ports you plan to enter and exit the country through, amongst other things.
P.S. Take the time to find better deals. There are return tickets for direct flights that don't even cost close to that.

Please how do i get a bus from Johannesburg to Durban, can i just get a bus anytime i get to Johannesburg or do i need to prebook. I am flying from Nigeria to Johannesburg. And if you have any link to get a bus or train, kindly share. Thank you.
That depends on how faraway your destination is from Jo'burg. If it's inter-city or long-distance, you can prepurchase bus/train tickets on computicket

For change of conditions, foreign PCC(s) should cover any country/countries the applicant has resided in, for more than 12 months, within the latest 5 years preceeding the application date.
Only straight renewal applications do not require foreign PCCs.
SA PCC would be paid for at the point of application in both cases.
Thus, applicant needs to provide foreign PCC(s) in respect of the 3 years preceeding the 2 years they have spent within the country.

Thank you for your response...

What he just want to do is to renew his expired visa and also use the opportunity to apply fresh for his wife and children along with his own...

He wants to know if he will renew his own expired visa separately or he can renew his expired visa along with apply for his wife and kids?
Visas are only renewable while still valid (before expiration). Once a visa expires, a re-application or new application needs to be lodged for the same/different category.
Thus, the subject and their dependents would need to apply for new visas together or separately, depending on the category(ies).

Hello everyone, is police character certificate compulsory for SA study visa renewal, i was told I have to pay 45k now in Nigeria to get it. I need help.
In the case of a renewal, when applying in the republic and the conditions of the expiring visa are not changing, any PCC that would need to be procured from abroad is waived

Hello house.
I’m planning to apply for a visa for my Postdoc
fellowship in RSA. Please, I need your kind guidance in selecting the right category of visa on the VFS website. My colleagues from other countries, especially India, do select the Research visa which is a sub category under Visitors visa. However, that option is not available from Nigeria.
Thanks in advance as I hope to be properly guided.

P.S: The Postdoctoral fellowship is for a period of 2 years.
Section 11(1)(b)(iv) is the appropriate sub category, as highlighted in 2(e) of the checklist for visits exceeding 3 months.

Hello expert in the house, I just got into Sao Paulo few days back. I have a 90days multiple entry. But max duration of stay was 30days as stated on the visa page

Does this mean I can visit multiple times within 90days starting from date of entry/ I can only stay 30day within a single visit

@oluwo1, techspot and other expert in the house your opinion will be appreciated.
Means you are allowed to stay for a total of 30 days. You can exit and re-enter as many times as you want until the 30-day allowance is used up or until the 90th day after the issue date (provided you've stayed for less than 30 days in total)

I know about the 90 days thingy but I can't discuss the solution here on Nairaland
As per the proof of permanent residence, I had it with my PR and it was a requirement for my ID, I doubt if the process has changed
I'd like to know, if you don't mind sharing via private message.

The copy attached to the permanent residence permit served its purpose - "verification for ID purpose". Applicants have been strictly requested at the citizenship/naturalization desk to provide proof of permanent residence obtained after becoming eligible for naturalization

Good Afternoon guys, I was on this thread some years back, I left after a while but I am glad that this thread have grown.
Then I used to proffer solutions to people's visas enquiries for free, a few contacted me privately, which I helped. I am a PR holder of South Africa with an ID since 2015, I qualify for a citizenship now, but since 2016, I have been in and out of South Africa, in fact the whole of 2020, I didn't enter SA. I have investment in SA, been there twice this year already in 2021, would be going there later this year to reside for a while and apply for my citizenship and with the way Nigeria is going, it is about time to take my South African citizenship more seriously.
So hit me up with any questions, I would help
Welcome back to the thread!

Quick heads up:

Apparently, an applicant for naturalization is required to not have been away from the republic for more than 90 days in each of the 5 years preceding application date.
In addition, proof of permanent residence is part of the required docs for applying for naturalization. DHA only accept naturalization applications when a proof of permanent residence has been attached to the application. Processing times for proof of permanent residence via VFS has been reported as 12+ months.
Unfortunately, applications for proof of permanent residence are currently not being accepted at VFS, as DHA has indefinitely suspended all new permanent residence related applications since March 2020.

Kindly check resources to confirm any further requirements to consider in your plans.

Regards.

Hello;
@Don1985
Is it possible for me to apply for a South African visa from Ghana without a Ghanaian resident permit. I met a friend who told me that it is possible to get the visa from Ghana. I have a Nigerian passport.
Visa applications for all countries are only allowed in any country in which you're legally resident (temporary residence).

Exception where you are allowed to apply as a tourist or visitor is the instance where the destination country has no chancery in your country of residence, and directs you to submit your application at the nearest chancery to your country of residence.

THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE

I APPEALED IMMEDIATELY I GOT THE NOTICE

LAST YEAR JAN , BUT RECEIVED NO RESPONSE

FROM DHA.I DID A BIT OF RESEARCH AND

DISCOVERED THIS IS THE POSITION WITH

MOST APPEALS.

NOW THE BAN PERIOD HAS EXPIRED, AND I

DISCOVERED YOU DONT JUST GO BACK, YOU

WILL STILL BE DENIED ENTRY AT THE PORT

EVEN AFTER EXPIRY OF THE BAN PERIOD AS

IT IS STILL ON THIER SYSTEM.

P.S. MY FLIGHT WAS DELAYED BY ONE HOUR

I GOT TO IMMIGRATION 5MIN PAST MIDNIGHT.

I OVERSTAYED BY 5MIN AND I STILL GOT

BANNED FOR ONE YEAR.
That's quite unfortunate.
It's true that the ban expiry has to be effected on the system before disembarking.
I'd suggest that you keep reaching out to Hilda to assist.

Hello house

please what's the process of lifting ban on entry

after expiry of duration of ban
Assuming the ban is due to overstaying..

You will need to apply for the ban to be overturned by email (overstayappeals@dha.gov.za)
You can also reach out to the head of the overstay appeals section via hilda.dlamini@dha.gov.za

You will definitely need to explain the valid reason(s) for it to be overturned, and be patient as rescinding a ban could take a while.
