O ma se ooo...see people with assets in Lagos begging whereas their uncultured children will be chest-beating online.

They should use this Christmas as an opportunity to hold meetings in their various villages and advise them to stop chest-beating, to stop getting involved in other peoples local politics , stop boasting that they develop another persons land and stop referring to another persons land as no mans land.

Less I forget, Iwuanyanwu the ohaneze Ndigbo needs to be cautioned too because his utterances lately in Lagos matters is causing disaffection between Igbos and Yorubas in Lagos.

Many of you are nothing but novices in politics. How can you compare what happened in Edo to what is happening in Rivers? Obaseki succeeded just because of the support he got from the Aso rock cabals. This Fubara does not have with Tinubu in power. Let me also school you that the Buhari cabals frustrated the lawmakers case and did not even allow it to reach the supreme court. Wike was backing Obaseki during this time. But now that Wike is the fighter, have you even seen Wike lose any case in the Supreme Court? Please dont comment with emotions but with facts.
My brother, nothing like emotions.

Rivers politics is different from what you think.
No one can have control of the people as it's done in Lagos. So,if Wike thinks he can replicate Lagos politics in Rivers state, it's a big mistake. He can't succeed because of variant dynamics inherent in the system.

Rivers state has multiplicity of ethnic groups with ethno religious variations. Unlike Lagos with one major linguistic group and less pluralistic religious variations. That set the tone for Rivers state politics.

Therefore, Wike has to contend with forces of linguistic pluralism and ethnic biases which places Fubara at vantage position. The Ijaws will go to war if anything untoward is done to their son.

Faiththatworks:
Great News for Nigerians, I'm very sure Nigerians who use Diesel to power their industries will be eagerly anticipating the day when the supply from Dangote will flood the market.
I'm also sure the airline companies will have their tankers ready to receive fuel from the Refinery.
I really won't be bothered by the report of when petrol will hit the market,my common sense already told me NNPCL announced sometime last month the country will be wet with petrol for the yuletide season,I expect their imported stock of Petrol will probably be exhausted when Dangote Refinery begins its own production, that's common sense of Business 101.
Naysayers told us Dangote Refinery will not be completed,it was completed and commissioned by Baba Buhari, these Naysayers also said it wont work until 2033,yet crude was received in December and production has started, now they have started again,I repeat if you still don't believe the Refinery will pump out products then you are worse than Doubting Thomas.
I like to focus on the good news in the Report, the sheer amount of Employment that will be created by the Refinery is mind-blowing.
I repeat again, only a foolish person will ignore these figures, call today to get a piece of investment around the Refinery.
Still selling LAND at Ibeju-lekki close to the Dangote Refinery. Check my signature for more details.
God bless Nigeria
Thanks for the insight.

But with spate of ethnic-filled demolitions in Lagos state, it's risky buying a Land from you at Ibeju-Lekki close to the Dangote Refinery.

May be, when the coast is clear and grey areas that inhibit our unity are settled then one could think of buying land.

For now, non indigenes of Yoruba extraction are putting a halt in buying lands in Lagos state. After the elections, and current spate of demolitions, only an idiot will risk buying a land in Lagos state.

People here are really stupid. You people just come and comment rubbish. A sitting governor has no power if there’s no support from Abuja. Atleast in today’s Nigeria. Obaseki survived because Buhari was nonchalant and the cabal were actually against oshieomole because of tinubu. If you doubt, watch what will happen in the forthcoming elections. APC will sweep Edo state. If Wike and Abuja wants Fubara to go, trust me, he will go, heavens will not fall. Fubara will definitely go, but not so soon. They will impeach him, he’s already falling into traps and he’s committing impeachable offenses.
May be,you don't know Rivers State and the power play inherent in the system.

Wike cannot do anything to Fubara because he has the backing of Ijaw ethnic nationality. Fubara represents Ijaw nation who have not tasted power rotation since 1999.

Therefore, any attempt to remove him will be met with incisive professional skill or at worst, blood letting conundrum by the Ijaws.

Wike should thread softly. Otherwise, he will throw the state into anomie, and by extension Nigeria, because of economic relevance of the state.

Wike's rascality will not take him anywhere.

Yes, it is an accident. But such an accident is easily avoidable..

Naija is a disgrace. I am happy no life was lost.

ADDED
People with little or no safety knowledge, instead of asking for an explanation, are quoting me and saying I don't know what a conveyor belt is. Are you saying an airport conveyor belt is incapable of killing a human? It killed a lady, a trained baggage handler for that matter, in the US. Google it. Do you know the belt has a safety sign and an emergency button? Check it at an airport or google it before quoting me. Isn't the breakdown an accident? Was it planned? Is casuality is impossible when someone positions to lift a bag off the belt surface and the belt cuts? Can't manual carriage of airport luggage result in casualties or even death? Do you think conveyors at airports are just there to make carriage easy? Do you know the weight an airport conveyor lifts on daily basis and the consequence if humans are to manually do the conveyor's job? People take important things for granted until something goes wrong.

I admit my flaws. But I don't bow to pressure when a majority that can't prove me wrong turns against me.
Clown!

Conveyor belt doesn't convey human being. It's only luggages. Therefore, no life was lost is an indication you don't know what it means.

Try to learn instead of disgracing yourself and family.

Carry the war to all nook and crannies of the insurgents. Don't listen to pleas and Diplomatic channels of human right abuses. Decimate them anywhere they are found in Sambisa and sahelian deserts of Zamfara and entire North West region.

immortalcrown:
Sometimes when they speak, IPOB and Boko Haram are the same. But when it comes to action, IPOB and Boko Haram are never the same.

Concerning IPOB, every individual in a community that witnessed IPOB activity is suspected, tortured or even killed by the government. There are numerous military checkpoints. Commuters, whether sick or healthy, young or old, alight from vehicles at military checkpoints and trek a certain distance before re-entering the vehicles. Only the drivers cross the check points while inside the car. Few days ago, Police allegedly murdered a man and cut his manhood because he was suspected to be an IPOB commander.

Concerning Boko Haram, the government does not attack or arrest members of the communities where Boko Haram attack and even kill soldiers. No military checkpoints to inconvenience commuters. Suspected or confirmed Boko Haram members are kept for a while, termed "repentant" and recruited into the military. Many are even given scholarship and lodged in expensive hotels throughout the schooling period. Many are paid monthly allowance that is higher than minimum wage.

Anyone suspected to be an associate of IPOB has his or her identity published. Suspected sponsors of EndSARS had their accounts freezed. But the government says sponsors of Boko Haram won't be named or shamed. Boko Haram even had a spokesman who enters the forest to speak with them.
Well said. You gave true perspective of the problems and security agencies involvement in southeast confusion.

Politics › Re: Depots Deserted As Petrol Landing Cost Hits ₦‎720/Litre by Omodua(m): 6:23pm On Dec 09, 2023
nairalanda1:
We have no domestic refining because in 1973, we decided to subsidise fuel...which meant that eventually we sold fuel below the cost of its production. Not just fuel...kerosene, diesel, etc.

For a while we could afford it since the population of people using the refined products was not large enough (in the 1980's far more people used firewood than kerosene, and gas to cook.). But eventually we could not. And the queues started up, first in the mid 1970's. The refineries started collapsing in the 1990's when Southerners were in charge of NNPC.

The honest truth is simple. Any company making things needs to make a profit to pay for running costs. Subsides of the kind we practice in Nigeria do not pay for running costs effectively. Then our growing population means that most of the oil revenue has to go to funding things like salaries and projects, and the like. Add the fact that as at today, 20% of our revenue comes from taxes and other things, the 80% comes from oil....and you would see why we do not have working refinereis

Venezuela sells fuel at N40 or less per liter. And they have lost refining capacity over the last 20 years . To the point they can no longer help countries like Cuba with free subsidised oil. (Cuba is having to ration power as a result).

Iran has managed to keep refining and subsides. Their debt also makes ours look like chickenfeed. Iran wants to remove subsides. They can't because it means revolution.

If you want working refineries, make it profitable to run refineries....and that means letting the market set prices for fuel. Anything else is just inviting more and more debt, more and more import and less and less domestic refining.

Mele Kyari and Ibe Kalichuku have both called for removal of subsides. Kyari has even explained why subsides have to go self hundreds of times, and how they hinder NNPC's op. But you folk want N40 fuel...so you pretend he is the problem
Very intelligent analysis. You gave very good insight on petroleum subsidy.

Kudos!
