CultureRe: Your Views On Polygamy? by omoge(f): 11:47pm On Apr 02, 2007
don't use the bible to justify the present day men polygamus nature.
if you understand the bible very well, you can see that most of them (wife) have one health problem or the other. who do you want to name? most are  just plain lust as in Solomon,

I believe every man should do the right thing and not sell your what's between your knee for a few minutes of pleasure. same pleasure you've been milking, stay with your better half for better or for worst. Both of you could move on from the marriage, then you can go sow your wild oat. not have 1 in the house, and go looking for monicas.

and for you gals, leave the occupied territory alone.  grin
FamilyRe: Why Would A Man Go For A Second Wife? by omoge(f): 11:31pm On Apr 02, 2007
yeah, and putting the african woman in unecessary soul suffering. No Woman Wants Her Man To Bring In Another Woman/Lady into the home.

''Hey wifey, am going to marry another woman'' and then wifey should always be ready to say ''Hey Hubby, am going for another man too'' Fair enough!

i say it again, once your man decides you are not enough for him, leave.

grafikdon:
Because they want to marry more than one wife and the African culture has lots of room for polygamy.

Yes, i ate okoho (woodlike stick, cut in piece and use of water to make it draw), yeah, tasted it because i thought it was Ogbono at first. it was alright.
had to learn how to ''cut'' it by the plate side or else the whole soup will draw with the plate to your mouth, lol.

my Tiv friends taught me to eat it. good with bushmeat and tuwo.

Music/RadioRe: Bonney M by omoge(op): 2:27pm On Apr 02, 2007
one don't have to be old school to enjoy ol music/movies, if people could enjoy the first dose of nigeria nollywood, then Bonney should be too because i was about hearing them like 12years ago, and now that i really want to listen to them, i asked.
by the way, am in my early 20s and still came across past music from friends and family and i seems to love it.
anyway, thanks will check out those utubies.
Music/RadioBonney M by omoge(op): 11:51am On Apr 02, 2007
Anyone like Bonney M music? I love their music. And where are they today? Do they still sing? I remember yuletide is not complete without playing Bonney M back in those yester years in nigeria.
Where can I find their cds to buy? I have checked online and haven't come across a good source yet. Let's talk about Bonney M and his girls.

CultureRe: Your Views On Polygamy? by omoge(f): 12:28am On Apr 02, 2007
True. not in this age!! our parents of years gone by did it, but truly not in this age and time.

babyosisi, that's what i hate about the way things are in Nigeria/Africa. many wives, many children and then before you knows it, it's relative or Older one taking the responsibilities, i think it's abt time we ladies be a different breed. say no to Poly and if you happen to have a man who is either bringing in a another lady or hopping around, move on.

It's sad to be in a relationship where you aren't only the apple of your man's eyes.

CultureRe: Your Views On Polygamy? by omoge(f): 10:16pm On Apr 01, 2007
smile, we all are, but atimes, polygamy practicers need to be told like it is. because they will prefer food (egusi with wifey # 1 today) and okra soup with wifey #2 tmr.

it goes with their stomach and their knees, grin
FoodRe: How To Make Egusi Thick by omoge(f): 10:12pm On Apr 01, 2007
to make egusi thick, use the stock  instead of water. my egusi is always thick because i don't use water.
however, you cook in low heat to prevent burning from below.
CultureRe: Your Views On Polygamy? by omoge(f): 10:08pm On Apr 01, 2007

garri umm don't think i will eat it like before though. i see it in the store here but never bought it. i think i like the one i make myself from scratch. i love yellow garri.

few years ago, i was first year at UI. One good day, got back from class and no food. checked my cupboard and saw some garri, not much for my hungry stomach, but then i just pour in water and then some guys knocked on the door. i quickly went to hide the garri. When the guy left, i went back for it, lo and behold it was sooooo swell up, at first i was like YAY! now it's alot, but then after tasting it oh man!! not too good to eat, lol. i poured it away and it landed on another lady's head oh, !

i noticed the garri they sell here is not that clean.

FoodRe: My Husband Is Igbo But I Can't Cook! by omoge(f): 2:42pm On Mar 28, 2007
Ingredients

• 1 cup ogbono
• Palm oil
• Goat meat or beef, ponmo, oxtail (cook them till tender, I cook my meat separately till tender)
• Stock fish (cook separately till tender), cook Oxtail till tender.
• 2 cups of hot water
• Dried pepper
• Dried fish
• Bonga
• Prawn crayfish
• Crayfish (smaller shinning type)
• Salt
• 1 or 2 maggi cube

Prep
In a separate pot, cook your goat meat or beef with salt until tender

• Blend your dried ogbono until very smooth (do not add water)
• Place your pot on fire and add some palm oil
• Let the oil cook for few seconds and add your blended dried ogbono and stir
• Add a cup of hot water and stir
• Put in your cooked meat, dried fish, stock fish, bonga  (if you have them), and crayfish.
• If too thick add a little more hot/warm water
• Then add your pepper, and the blended prawn (the reddish bigger crayfish)
• Add maggi and salt to taste
• Cover and let it cook for about 30minutes.

If you want you can add ugu or lil bitter leaf,  (I usually don't add vegetable)

Eat with hot pounded yam, eba of fufu

I have two ways of cooking my Ogbono, one I call Agbor style (because my mom does it like that)

Blend your ogbono in native flat mortar, add oil and blend till smooth and liquid-like
Note: if using blender, blend and pour in a dish and mix oil and use a spoon to stir until oil is finely mixed with the ogbono to make a smooth paste.

• Cook your beef or goat meat until done/soft
• Add pepper to the cooking meat, add your ogbono (which already has red oil in it) and stir
• Add the remaining ingredients, ponmo, crayfish, cleaned dried fish, bonga, blended crayfish, salt and maggi
• Let it cook for 30mins or less.

Add vegetable if you want.

Serve with your pyam or eba/fufu

BlackMamba:
This is a nice thread. Since momsie, sis nor Naija girlfriend are not in the horizon at this time, I once dabbled into egusi soup on the advice of the African market in my neck of the wood. Need I say that it was a total disaster. Please, lovely sisters post ogbono soup recipe also, and I'm going to give my Igbo soup another shot.

you all so funny, lmao

spoilt lol, who told you old person no dey finger? lol, just kidding. well maybe she fingered her husband and got Mr. Withlow, lol

well, pple with funny idea oh man grin i used to think it happens during the rainy season in nigeria.
you know how washing hands or hand soap isn't that common. so it might be touching some infected area that may have caused it.

uspry1, thanks for googling those info.

one thing i observe abt whitlow in pple hand is that the fingernail always falls off and the new finger isn't as fine as the previous one.
FoodRe: My Husband Is Igbo But I Can't Cook! by omoge(f): 11:48am On Mar 27, 2007
