Family / Re: Please Help, My Wife Wants To Leave Me by omogenikky(f): 2:15am On Dec 12, 2007
This marriage seems like it was imbalanced right from the start and the wife knows that fact very well. She has been this, she has been that for him etc. And maybe what the husband did was wrong but maybe he was just trying to asset his masculinity.
I think he should apologize to her again, but without pleading. The main thing here is that she has never respected him and perhaps has always felt she married below herself and now is the time for the man to evolve and become a man she can respect.
He should also exhibit his own intelligence and capability to be the head of the home and stuff like that , and I tell you, she will reconsider getting a divorce ,
Family / Re: I Want My Husband To Be Impotent by omogenikky(f): 1:53am On Dec 12, 2007
Yeepa!!!!
If he is impotent and you are still married and living together, life will only get worse. Imagine a man like that who is used to releasing built up tension through his sexcapades, he will just start releasing it on you by beating you black and blue everyday. That will be his way of having sex ,

Romance / Re: My Friends, Brothers And Sisters I Need Ur Help?. by omogenikky(f): 1:41am On Dec 12, 2007
How come u had no hint of this in the "3 years of courtship". A mother can't suddenly wake up and tell her daughter not to marry someone from another tribe. She would have been dropping hints or warnings to the girl since she was old enough. And you guys got serious, 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year without ever discussing this and you were in a "serious relationship" and "you love yourselves to bit".
Maybe I'm too harsh but really, I wonder when people come up with such issues after years of dating.

Anyways, since the mother has said over her dead body, you had better move on so that you won't be accused of killing the poor woman if u guys do marry, and next time, when the seriousness bug starts biting, ask your questions ,

Jaynie, you need to get a LIFE!
Men! even if you are Jaiye's twin sister, it's too much. If you are really a member of the Aboderin family, then you are doing your family a huge disservice , this mud-slinging etc. Truly, the way I and so many other yoruba people on this forum were brought up, even with a knowledge of whatever escapades et al Stella was/is involved in, we will keep quiet and "TIJU" because of her children for Jaiye.
But as it is, this looks like a personal thing and your attitude screams jealousy! So its either you are just a "gboromideleru" or some sort of minority Aboderin.
Celebrities / Re: What's Up With Stella Damascus-Aboderin? (After Husband's Death) by omogenikky(f): 12:44am On Jul 21, 2007
Na wa, people are still talking about Stella and the family. People sha, with "I saw her at silverbird", "I read it", "I heard it on radio", "i am close to the Aboderins/Damasus" etc.
Abeg, let the woman live her life and let God judge the sincerity of the relationship btw she and her husband. Her family have no right to say "this is how she treated her husband etc".
One poster above said that a few days after Jaiye's death, sshe was already at clubs. Haba! even if she wanted to, people would have put roadblocks on the road for her and she wouldn't be able to do it.
Methinks some people have to start listening to Obey's songs. You drink Fanta, people will abuse you, you drink beer, people will abuse you, you drink water, people will abuse you.

"Military sources said the Army boss escaped the crash when he got to the airport few minutes after the plane had left. Having missed the flight, he was to join the second batch when the aircraft would have returned from Obudu. He allegedly returned to his Niger Barracks home, with some of his principal officers equally billed to travel with him, to wait for the second flight."

Career / Re: Tony Elumelu Of UBA Graduated With Third Class? by omogenikky(f): 9:09pm On Sep 10, 2006
davidylan:

1. Everyone finds if very easy to mouth the oft abused phrase; "there are so many first class materials that can not defend their certificates". I wonder how many third class materials can actually defend their own certificates too. Afterall they are products of the same institutions that produced the "non-productive" first class materials!
2. Which "developed countries" are you refering to? Are you aware of the national honor roll program in the US? Please bear in mind that the US uses a 4.00 scale as compared to a 5.0 or 6.0 scale in some Nigerian universities.
To say that it is only in Nigeria that "paper qualifications" count is a falsehood, to further perpetuate that ignorance by claiming that developed countries "don't care" what you come out with is just plain unfortunate!
Since you allege that developed countries "don't care" what you come out with, i wonder how they determine recipients of the limited available scholarships!

texazzpete:

Try finishing middle of your class in any law school in the US and see how many law firms line up for you. I'd have thought it'd be the other way round, because in 'developed countries' the standard of education is much higher and much better. If you end up with a poor grade, it's wholly your fault.
i agree with you, first class or 2.1 isn't always an indication of your true potential. But in so many ways, it's an indication of your seriousness and will to excel. and that's what many employers look for!

True talk! people always find it easy to defend mediocrity. They don't place value on paper certificates in "developed countries"!  I laugh out real loud!

Oracle:

Well from what i know, you miss it when you're loaded or heavy
never heard of any other thing that'll make a girl miss her time

You have "never heard". Talk about publicizing one's ignorance.
There are several medical conditions that can make a girl miss her period e.g. thyroid imbalances, stress, taking new medications, taking certain types of birth control, a major change in your lifestyle, rapid weight gain or loss, taking weight loss/gain pills, too much exercise, heavy smoking etc.
There are loads of things that could cause missed periods and you may have to see your doctor so that he/she can do some elimination and pin down exactly whats wrong with you.
And if its just one period that you have missed, there might really be nothing wrong with you.
Computers / 61% Of Bbc New's Wap Users From Nigeria by omogenikky(f): 8:09pm On Aug 16, 2006
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/pr/fr/-/2/hi/africa/4795255.stm

BBC Wap use flourishing in Africa

Africa, in particular Nigeria, is dominating international mobile phone access to the BBC's website.
According to July's statistics, 61% of the BBC's international Wap users came from Nigeria and 19% from South Africa.

"Wap is the one platform where African countries continue to appear in the top five in our statistics," said BBC developer Gareth Owen.

Africa is the world's largest-growing mobile phone market with unreliable landlines encouraging the growth.

Wap technology - which stands for wireless application protocol - allows people to access basic information on the internet, like news summaries, through their mobile phone handset.

I'm in Uganda and the only access I have 2 the outside world is this pinhole 2 info
Ugandan texter to the BBC

According to the BBC's statistics, page views for Wap usage are growing at 100% year on year.

UK users account for 65% of Wap traffic; and international usage for 35%. Mobile phone providers in many African countries have only recently begun rolling out Wap-enabled handsets.

And the large take up of BBC news via mobiles in Nigeria contrasts starkly with the relatively small number of users accessing the internet via pcs - hampered by slow and unreliable landlines.

The BBC's Technology correspondent Mark Ward says that in many places on the continent PC ownership is low but PC literacy surprisingly high.

Internet cafes tend to be very popular, as much a meeting place as well as a place where people access their email, he says.

The BBC receives regular messages of thanks from people in Africa, who say the only access they have to news is via their mobiles.

"I'm in Uganda and the only access I have 2 the outside world is this pinhole 2 info cause I don't have access to TV. Thanx," said one texter from Uganda. The country accounted for 7% of BBC Wap usage in July.

Other top countries helping account for the 58m Wap page views in July were Jamaica, Singapore and Israel.

In the UK, the BBC has about a 20% share of the market with a reach of 1.2m users monthly.
