Politics › Re: When Yorubas Travel We Dont Do Interstate, We Go International by omoharry(f):
vicadex07:
There is a recently trending fad all over nairaland now that the ibos use in consoling themselves that Yorubas don't go out of their enclave in the southwest and as such, are less exposed. grin I usually reel out in laughter at their folly. Yorubas dont usually do interstate because we believe our region to be better than any other in Nigeria unlike some people that sees the southwest especially Lagos as their own London.

To give a few instances, there are lot of countries in south America where Yoruba culture and Language are most prominent, heck they even celebrate our festivals and revere our kings like the alaafin of Oyo for instance. What about benin republic, togo, ghana, south africa etc. In Benin republic for instance, you will find large communities of Yoruba speakers both of indegenous origins and those from Nigeria too. Even their president is of Yoruba descent. Even spain, all the way in Europe isn't left out.

http://www.mynewswatchtimesng.com/yoruba-culture-gets-boost-spain/

Don't even let me talk about the UK scenario. Now law enforcement in Uk are trying to employ Yoruba speaking individuals in Uk cos of the sheer magnitude of Yoruba immigrants in the country. We are found everywhere all over the world and we live all over as prominent citizens respective of our hosts and we go about it quietly without chest beating.

This are just few mentions just from my observations and not even a comprehensive analysis.
All what we black are good at is chest beating and showing how we are better than the other in terms of social or economic status..pulling and dragging down one another for the sake of satisfying our ego and prestige...look around you..you brag about going international and your language and culture is recognizes and spoken outside your country...what has that got to do with national integration and brotherly love among your fellow country men. your country Nigeria in shambles because of a black and a dark mind of the black man like you...and you are proud of your self..just give yourself a round of applause for your mentality..the rest of the world are trying to see how they can come up with invention to solve human problems; working day and night to achieve these things which we black are benefiting from today...but we wont hear them chest beating among themselves to proof who is more superior..this only happens among blacks community...are we cursed or what...here you are, telling your fellow country man why you do not bother to go to their territory but you would rather traveled out of the country for the sake of prestige and nothing more...Try and travel to other region of the country so that you wont be this myopic in your reasoning about another tribe from the same country as yours.Traveling abroad alone does not make you expose my dear...your ability to travel and understand people's lifestyle and behaviors; the way they do things, accepting and appreciating them for who they are make you expose ..especially within your own country..maybe that is why you can say your region is better than every other region...ignorance really at play here.. charity they said begins at home..learn about your internal environment so that you don't become ignorance and embarrass yourself when you are ask some vital question about Nigeria...Goodness... ETHNOCENTRISM IS WHAT IS AT PLAY HERE AND NOTHING MORE

Even though Junaid was somewhat brash, all he spoke is the truth.

It is important Ibos are constantly reminded the that they have been undermining our nationhood since independence, and will only be taken seriously once they shun their empty arrogance, irritating self-centeredness, and baseless sense of entitlement in the interest of unity, and fully join hands in our national development.

While regions that produce the bulk of crude oil and agriculture which are the mainstay of our economy unite and stay calm, those that migrate and trade, earning a living from their hosts keep fostering hatred, division and enmity. What other results do they expect?

Nigeria owes Ibos nothing.
I really don't know what you guys want....some Yoruba 's and Hausa/Fulani's comments here are annoying.this is nothing but a show of arrogance over nothing...talking any anyhow without weighing the consequences..they think the war of 1967 is going to be the same modern times...I am not from the south east but i am sick and tired of this nonsense...if you cannot respect the Igbo ethnic tribe as equal citizens of this country then let them go. what is all this rubbish you guys are supporting.. selfish Nigerians..that is why this country will not move forward because of your kind.

Today they threaten you to leave then tomorrow they threaten you not to leave. Nigeria is clearly not a real country.

I say okay i will stay and become Nigerian, then you get angry when i as a citizen buy nigerian land, and succeed in business. You tell me to go back to my land.

Then I say OK, I will go back to my land and form my own country where I can be respected as a citizen and human being. Then you get angry at me and call me a traitor and promise me genocide if I go.

What do you people want?
i wonder

Make-up is part of a woman and no one is going to take that away from her. But then, sometimes it's just unnecessarily much. For me, I love it natural. Maybe that's me. Not like a woman shouldn't make-up, but she shouldn't rely so much on it that one don't have the opportunity of gazing at her natural look.

A light make-up would suffice for me.

Election they say is a game of numbers. Alliances are needed to win any election in Nigeria. It is nobody's birthright to be voted any person or group. SW,NW,NC,NE, decided to vote for Buhari while SE and SS devided to vote for Jonathan, all these based on personal convictions.
While everybody seemed to have moved on, the Igbos are still angry with everybody that decided not to vote for Jonathan. Can somebody explain why?
Sey you have finally escape from your psychiatric world again...anyway did you take your pills today? i guess no...please do so and stop being a complete nuisance on Nairaland.

I DONT KNOW WHY THE IGBOS WANT TO KILL THEMSELVES OVER BUHARI'S APPOINTMENT. THIS MAN PROMISED CHANGE AND IF IGNORING FEDERAL CHARACTER IN THE APPOINTMENTS DOESN'T EQUATE TO CHANGE FROM OLD WAY OF DOING THINGS THEN WHAT IS CHANGEhuh Y'ALL SHOULD KEEP CRYING AND WEEPING. WE THE YORUBAS INVESTED SO MUCH IN HIS PRESIDENCY BUT WE ARE NOT SCREAMING MARGINALIZATION. IF HE LIKES, LET HIM APPOINT CAMEROONIANS IN ALL POSITION WHAT MATTERS IS THE FULFILMENT OF CAMPAIGN PROMISES AND AN ENABLING ENVIROMENT FOR EVERYONE TO THRIVE. YOU IGBOS VOTED FOR GEJ IN MASS AND YOU ALL SHOULD EXPECT NOTHING IN RETURN. Y'ALL ARE A CONFUSED BUNCH. TODAY U WANT Biafra, THE NEXT DAY U SCREAM MARGINALIZATION FROM THE SAID ZOO AS PROCLAIMED BY YOUR SUICIDE MISSION LEADER NNAMDI KANU. BUHARI CAN CHOOSE 100% NORTHERNERS. NOBODY CARES undecided
You must be very high on crack....if you have nothing reasonable to say then keep your mouth shot...Is Nigeria only for the Yoruba's' and Northerners...if yes , in that case you guys should teem up together to form a country of your own...since Nigeria is now a Northern/ Yoruba's property.Nigeria is for very body and nobody/Ethic group has the right to talk down on another ethnic group because we all need one another.

@fine boy.
why did you say that you will marry. u for no marry now and say that all women are not good. if you shine your eyes and pray well you will eat the food that you cooked.

@all
thanks you all for your various contributions o. i have decided to let go. i stopped reponding to him, picking his calls and stopped all communications.
i came accross an old friend that has been disturbing me and i decided to be a closer friend to him just to ease off my mind(not that i want to date him which he - the old friend- is aware of)
now my boyfriend is begging me, has been to my house 3ce this week and explaining that its work that has really been the problem. he is promising me now that he would adjust his own schedules for me, that he wants to be serious with this aspect of his life.
please what should i do. now that i am almost able to get myself together again, i dnt wnt to fall back in the same heartbreak.
fellow nairalanders, should i give him a try again?
My advise is for you to act diplomatically...still keep your old guy friend closer and don't get involve sexually while you watch how your boyfriend will steer the relationship...always remember to allow him to row the boat while you follow behind if not you will end up chocking him..men generally need their breathing space...so keep yourself busy with other distraction such as your male friends who also know you have a boyfriend but don't cheat on him. This will help in keeping you balance emotionally...until he is ready.

I have been saying it times without Number that PMB is a tribal leader but people thought i was just talking nonsense..I realized this when Ekwueme and Shagari were charge with Corruption in the first Republic and persecuted.while Ekwueme was sent to Prison in Kirikiri , Shagari (Thesame Hausa/Fulani like him) was put under house arrest in a palatial mansion in Ikoyi ..What about the PTF Project which he handled , he made sure 90% of the project was situated in the North while little was found in the south. He has always been a tribal leader that only look's out for northern interest first before any other region.

I love cat a lot..I grew up with cats as pet, so when i entered the university i made sure i bought one for my self. They are good company to be with, easy to maintain and equally neat and elegant. Cat as a pet gives me a sense of responsibility that there is a life to be catered for....I play with my cat and cuddle it some times..I like it when my cat climbs up and coil up on me when ever i am lying down or sleeping.. they are very wise , sensitive and emotional animal.they stay away from you when they sense you don't like them and they come up to you when they know you are their friend.I like their toilet manners..just teach them how to use their bowl with sand ....and you see them covering up their mess elegantly whenever they are done...I Like cat.I cried when my cat drowned mistakenly inside my drum of water...I felt sad for weeks.I will bring up my children with cat and maybe dogs.

Hmm! Hey, try space out your post for better reading. Let me add more to the list.

5. Prostitutes wont nag you to death

6. Prostitute wont call you impromptu asking for cash and get angry when you don't have it

7. Prostitutes don't want to cuddle for hours after sex

8. You don't have to remember to call a prostitute 10 times a day

9. You can plan your life, and make swift decisions without thinking of how it would affect your girl
Ya...in that case, when you are ready psychologically for marriage, you can pick any of the Ashawo to be your life partner and bear you children....my point..you cant eat your cake and have it.
